Detroit is crumbling. A slow and subtle sickness that holds it on the verge of death. Urban decay without end, arrested and reversed and beginning again in pockets, delaying the inevitable.
This can't be a normal state of being. This can't simply be the way things are meant to be.
Father Reed agrees. It's why he's taken you off the streets to teach you in his school. In the burnt-out shell of an old car factory, lit by power stolen from the grid, he's teaching you the most important things in life.
How to avoid cops.
How to fire a gun.
How to swing a bat.
And, most of all, how to stake a vampire. Father Reed is sure, so sure, that the source of Detroit's decay is vampires running the city from the shadows, their teeth in the necks of city government. That's what your training is about; fighting back the darkness and saving the city. Father Reed is sure you can do it.
