overview.
Just as Gellert Grindelwald warned, a second World War rages on across the globe.
The wizarding world remains reluctant to aid Muggles in any official capacity. The Minister of Magic has passed emergency legislation forbidding witches and wizards from getting involved in any war efforts. Many who disagree with the Minister's politics help in what way they can. Meanwhile, there is still Grindelwald's own war against the wizarding world for the Ministry to worry about. These are dark times for many.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry remains a safe haven for young witches and wizards, alongside their professors and castle staff. Yet even within the walls Grindelwald dare not enter, a new threat begins to emerge.
The Chamber of Secrets will soon be open again, signaling the rise of a new Dark Lord.

rule one.
We will be using a Discord server for all plotting, updates, and communication. Out of character and in-character activity are both necessary. We will have a designated channel for any absence notices. The mods can only ensure that post deadlines do not conflict with absences if we receive proper notice. Deadlines missed without notice or a request in advanced for an extension will result in an interest check and potential removal from the roleplay.
rule two.
The roleplay will feature a mix of sandbox and goal-oriented scenes. We are looking for roleplayers who are proactive with plotting and progressing the story through writing. Posts that are primarily reactive and characters with no connections to the rest of the cast will not work in the long run. Please do not pursue the roleplay if you do not feel comfortable reaching out to other roleplayers to plot and collaborate.
rule three.
We will be accepting a limited number of characters with magical traits. The list of available traits can be found in the cs thread for reference. There will be no vampires, fairies, or obscurials. Please be sure to incorporate your magical trait into your character's backstory, personality, or appearance if you decide to go for one. Since these are limited, we do want to make sure they are properly used. There will also be a limited number of positions and titles (Quidditch positions, Head Girl, etc.) available to claim. We will only accept pureblood characters if they are from one of the sacred twenty-eight families. Similarly, the roleplay will feature the beginning of Tom Riddle's gang of future Death Eaters. They will begin to come together throughout the roleplay. For those who wish to participate, characters must be purebloods and are encouraged to be one of these names. Please don't fret too much about family tree canon!
rule four.
All roleplayers must be 18+. This is a queer, BIPOC friendly roleplay. The story takes place in the 1940s, but we are not interested in any racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. All students will be 17 and 7th years, which makes them adults in this canon. The only minor featured in the roleplay will be Tom Riddle himself and other small NPCs. All staff and professors need to be 27 or older, especially if they are Head of House. We will be using real face claims, but with some limitations. Face claims must be professional models or actors. In regards to actors, it is strongly preferred that they are low profile actors to avoid oversaturation and personal bias. Influencers will not be accepted.
rule five.
The character limit is currently 2 per person. Overall, the roleplay is set-up for 16 students and 8 professors. This is unlikely to increase unless the spots fill quickly. Roles are not necessarily first come, first serve. We need a rundown of your character's basics, personality, and background before we can confirm the role. Placeholders do not reserve anything for you, so please understand that someone else may claim a trait or position by posting a CS instead. We do not want others to feel that they can not pursue an opportunity they are prepared to make a CS for because of a temporary "claim" that may not be fulfilled.
