Modifications to BBcode

So its not about the code itself but more how the forum treats it. Here are a few issues i find.


When you enter a code, when you preview, the code turns to picture. Now you can no longer retrieve that code. Example; If you made changes on forum, and copy/pasted to a text document, no image is transferred.


Certain alignment codes like

and disappear when you preview as well.


Here is the actual reason for this complaint.


I am currently making a large post in a thread that has Extensive use of BBcode. Most of it has tabs within tabs and alignments and lists in and out of those tabs, and im having serious issues with certain BBcode that is a one time active disappearing and deactivating and its causing overall issues. here is an example of a section of said post.

Now the problem im running into is when you use excessive tabs, they cancel out Bold, Size, and Center EVERY time you preview [making it a one time use] and because the codes themselves disappear, you have to reenter them many many times. Even those those codes are gone, they're effects are in place so then when you try to use BBcode it creates unseen conflicts like not knowing where to put a [./center] to cancel an alignment.


Now that little example is very small in comparison with what im currently trying to do. For an RP i have some 14 pages of Text document information that im organizing into tabs because i tried the "wall of text" and my eyes burst about 10 paragraphs in. And because of this, there is no, "fix everything" and then preview because there are a ton of little changes like spacing, or punctuation and testing with lists inside of tabs that are inside of tabs that have lists.


I'm not even sure its something you can change, but is it even a setting or something i could disable? I'm having terrible frustrations with this.


EDIT: I know part the issue is between typing BBcode, and using the buttons. since the buttons are invisible code. I dont remember using the buttons so i dont know. im experimenting to try and figure out exactly where my issues lie.


EDIT 2: OMG GREAT DAMN EXAMPLE OF WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. Made a mistake doing something, BBcode didnt activate at first but when i did my first edit, THIS happened to my post. Holy christ... *dies*

MY error was at "Certain alignment codes like '[Center.]' and '[b.]' disappear when you preview as well"


I left my top post unchanged to show as an example how one little post messes up the entirety of the post and then trying to go back and fix error is damn near impossible once the code disappears.


Edit: Finally got them all working but i think it used way more time and was far more difficult than it should of been. I'm sure a lot of it was my error, between using codes, buttons and finagling; Success


Also the 20 image limit sucks.

EDIT534534: The first 6 lines in the code box, are what im talking about. i did not add those. those first 6 lines are the autocode crap i was talking about. I have no idea why the post decided to add all of that. It adds another line everytime i edit and save changes =[

Unfortunately that's less a site fix & more an overall forum software enhancement that I simply can't make. I added this to a support ticket on the xenforo site & will see if someone can lend us a hand with the bbCode but no promises.


As for the image limit..... 20 images is more than enough as all those images need to load thus drastically slowing down the thread. Some folks have trouble opening 5 images let alone 20.


For an extensive role play with multiple tabs, sections, images, etc. I suggest starting a forum GROUP. This allows you to create basically your own forums with very few limitations.

Haha. its all cool. I just throw up issues as i see them. I kind of figured it was one of those "You cant be heard if you dont speak."


I know its not a huge issue and most people dont use that many tabs and stuff. Its great having some feedback. On another note, i didnt know about the groups that could be pretty awesome for a more in depth RP.

I know this is an Old post - But this may be helpful to others or yourself if this is still an issue.

I would recommend switching the BBcode mode.


In the top right corner of the editor is a page with a wrench icon. Clicking that switching to BBcode mode, and you will see all BBcode without any of the automatic applications.


You lose access to the quick buttons, but gain full controls of your BBcode.
