Ya Boi

Who's that guy?
WORLD LORE:

Valsena: A world where magic exists and monsters roam the land. There are seven main countries and dozens of smaller ones that occupy the world.

Obscal: The largest of the seven countries. Located in the center of Valsena. Easily the most populated country and is known as the Entertainment Capital of Valsena. Expect to see large cities filled to the brim with bright lights and luxuries beyond your wildest dreams. I recommend visiting the Arena. Plenty of action for the whole family!

Argos: A firm yet cruel land located in the far north of Valsena. It is here where the fiercest warriors are born and trained. Expect to see an unforgiving landscape and harsh weather. Hm? Why even bother to put a country in such a terrible location? Well, true warriors can survive anywhere! Suck it up and keep fighting, dammit!

Varka: Other countries choose to focus on their strength or their technology, Varka chooses to prioritize magic above all. I mean, sure they have armies who use swords and a pretty decent grip on technological stuff but magic is where it's at. They're ruled by a council of seven great mages, each of them manages a certain part of society. There are those who choose to devote their lives to studying under the council and maybe become a Holy Knight. Expect to see lots of books, potions, weird rituals, and strict rules. Oh, and did I mention it's the largest library in all the land? Perfect for all your studying needs!

Carth: Looking at all angles, Carth shouldn't exist. First of all, it's located in the mountainous regions of Valsena. It's nothing but blue-grey hunks of rock everywhere you look. Second, there's barely any vegetation or livestock to support a country in its early days. Third, it just plain sucks to live there sometimes. So how did they do it? How did the people of Carth survive? No one can actually say for sure. One thing is certain about Carth, though. It's harsh mountainous environment makes for some pretty good defenses. Enemies must climb over or march around the mountains while Carthian armies can rain arrows from above. Expect to see buildings built on the side of mountains, people living in caves, and lots of rocks. Like, honestly, there's lots of rocks. On the plus side, they are also known for being the largest producer of precious metals and other minerals.

Austansia: Once, Austansia was said to have been the most beautiful place in all the land. Lush fields, thick forests, clear rivers and lakes, and... I dunno, some cool looking exotic animals? Whatever makes a beautiful environment, I guess. Well, it had to have been quite the sight because the whole country basically belongs to the monsters, now. Yup. A few hundred years ago, Austansia was hit by a large gathering of monsters. From Dyna Birds to Creeps, Saberwolves to Razors. Those who even dare live in its borders are hard-pressed to find anyplace that didn't have some monster living there already. Expect to see large groups of monsters and little settlements of Gifteds aiming to clear out the area.

Avina: It's located in the far south of Valsena and it's mostly made up of islands. Nothing too noteworthy other than the delicious wine they produce and the festivals they hold. Expect to see sleepy towns and raucous cities where everyone loves to drink.

Del: Okay, so Varka has magic and Argos has strength and buff dudes (and chicks). Cool. Well, Del has made all sorts of technological advancements over the decades and is really, really good with using it. Here, people don't bother with magic theories or brute force. Del has decided to "fuse" magic and traditional weaponry together. Expect to see cool looking gadgets, sleek buildings and vehicles, and lots of science-y stuff. Oh, remember to stop by Carmen Industries every now and then. They're always coming up with new inventions every other week.

MONSTER LORE:

Varkan Raven: A creature that is commonly found in the forests of Varka. They are magical. Each Raven has a different elemental affinity. It is believed that the first Varkan Ravens were exposed to large amounts of magic, thus, mutating.

Saberwolf: A creature found in Argos, Obscal, and Austansia. Typically found in large packs. Notorious for their sharp horns and fangs. There are multiple variants, each of them living in a specific environment.

Myconids: Fungus men who are commonly found in dark forests. Not too threatening unless they've taken root. One they do that, the Myconid can spread very quickly. Best killed by decapitation or burning them. Found in multiple variants.

FACTIONS LORE:

Salvation: A group of "Purists" dedicated to cleansing the world of the Gifted plague. They believe that humanity is ultimately better off without the influence of magic. They operate similar to a cult or a religion. Their actions vary from peaceful protests to riots.

Members of Salvation are asked to ignore the temptation of magic and magical items. If you have relations to a mage, you are asked to cut all ties with that person.

The Hunters: An organization created to hunt down the hostile creatures that inhabit Valsena. They have no direct allegiances with any of the countries. A Hunter must completely dedicate his life to defending the world from the monsters.

Scott-Schmidt Weapons: A company focused on creating all sorts of weaponry. From swords to guns, axes to rockets. They are the leading brand when it comes to weapons manufacturing.

Recently, they've partnered with the Carmen Institute to develop weapons that are much more effective against the monsters. It is unsure whether or not they are doing this to help phase out magical activity.

Carmen Institute: The leading organization in science and technology. They focus on developing devices that don't rely on anything magical.

TOWNS AND CITIES
Dunwall: A small rural town near the border of Varka. Has a thick barricade circling around the town with watchtowers in place. Composed of low stone buildings. It's mostly known for selling vegetables to bigger cities. Aside from their rifles, farming machines and trucks, they're relatively low-tech.
