Dear Yuki-chan,

I fear that once again I have done something that will cause you to be disappointed in me. But you must understand, Yuki-chan, I was weak, and the temptation was strong. I could not resist the opportunity to have the one thing that I have always wanted. I do not have your strength of will and sense of integrity, dear sister. But then, I doubt you've ever desired anything that was forbidden to you.

I was in Crab lands attending the weddings of three of my erstwhile traveling companions. The monk had always seemed so helpful and honorable before. I do not know how he discovered my most secret desire. I inquired to make sure he wasn't planning to kill her, but she is dead all the same, and it may as well have been by my own hand. I do not think he loved her, but...was it worth it? He had such a pained look on his face, and it hurts me to think that I was the cause of it.

Oh, Yuki-chan, I wish you were here now. I can speak of this to no one but you, dear sister. Especially not him. I do not think he could ever forgive me if he found out.

I hope you are well and enjoying life out on the high seas. I was very happy for you when I heard of your new appointment as captain of your own ship. At least one of us has managed to obtain her heart's desire honestly.

Love, Shiori

The hastily written and sealed note bounced about inside the messenger's pack. The messenger moved deeper into the Crab lands without rest, spurred on by what he had witnessed in the city.

Hida Odekai,

Weddings went well, gifts well received. On the last day we suffered an attack of undead. We believe they had human help in breaching our borders and attacking us this far in. Myself and a group of a samurai have left to track down those responsible before they can get away. I think we should have worked harder to get the Agasha married into the Crab; you missed quite a fireworks show. Also, are we sure Anzu didn't train in the Berserker school? She seemed to lose herself in the battle against the foul scourge. Sorry for the brevity, but my colleagues are now ready to depart. I will provide more details when I return.
