BC = Before Coronation, AC = After Coronation
Pre-Equestria - Grogar rules over all that land and creates monsters. A Unicorn called Gusty climbs the mountain range (that will become Canterlot) in order to reach Cloudsdale and enlists the help of the pegasi. With their help, they take Grogar's bell and 'defeat' him.
Pre-Equestria – The Crystal Empire is formed about now by a small group of ponies from different tribes who begin working in harmony.
1,700 BC – The land of Equestria is formed by the Pegasi, Unicorn and Earth Pony tribes. The tribes have trouble agreeing amongst themselves but do not war out of fear of releasing the Windigos once again. This becomes known as Hearths Warming Eve and marks the founding of Equestria.
970 BC – Starswirl the Bearded is born and quickly rises to prominence as the single most powerful Unicorn ever. During this age, while magic was still unpredictable due to Princess Aurora not yet being born, most Unicorns were weak. Anything as large as a fireball was considered impossible, so Starswirl’s incredible magical talent was the stuff of legends.
852 BC - Starswirl the Bearded outlaws the practice of necromancy in Equestria and banishes all necromancers from the country. These necromancers go on to form the region of Shadar'elem.
100 BC – Celestia and Luna are created by Harmony, with the former being born a Unicorn and the latter being born a Pegasus. They are born into their respective tribes.
90 BC – Celestia and Luna meet for the first time. With the two being born with special gifts that mark them apart from regular ponies, it is decided that they will be forced into marriage to secure a final peace between the Unicorn and Pegasus tribes.
85 BC – Celestia and Luna arrive at Mount Canterlot with a contingent of Unicorns and Pegasi. Construction of a settlement begins, which will one day become Canterlot City.
82 BC – Earth Ponies join the pact between the tribes and begin assisting in the construction of Canterlot City.
80 BC – Celestia and Luna are approached by Starswirl the Bearded, who senses a power even greater than his own in them. He works to teach Celestia to control her Light magic, something never seen before in the world. He also teaches Luna to control her Shadow magic, something never seen before and something a Pegasus should not be able to do.
72 BC – Starswirl expends the last of his magic when raising the sun and lowering the moon. Celestia and Luna take his place and in doing so ascend to Alicornhood and gain their full powers. They restore Starswirl’s powers.
72 BC – The world’s first alicorns are labelled Princesses of Equestria and are given full authority over all of the tribes. For the first time ever, Equestria is actually at peace.
70 BC – Before Starswirl can finish training Celestia and Luna in magic, he and the other Pillars of Equestria sacrifice themselves to seal away the Pony of Shadows.
60 BC – Construction of Canterlot City is finished. It becomes the capital of Equestria.
6 BC – The Age of Chaos begins. Discord appears and turns the warring land of Equestria into a chaotic playground for himself. His first act is to destroy Canterlot and turn the tribes against each other once more.
4 BC – Celestia and Luna begin to realize that they are likely the only ones who can defeat Discord, but their first attempt at doing so is met with an embarrassing failure. Discord allows them to live because he finds them amusing.
New Age – Luna and Celestia discover the Tree of Harmony and their mother. They take the Elements of Harmony from the tree and use them to turn Discord to stone. Canterlot City is swiftly rebuilt from the rubble. The Age of Chaos ends. The Age of the Alicorns begins.
1 AC - The nation of Griffonstone, hearing of the defeat of Discord, seeks to invade Equestria. With Discord removed by two new deities, the griffon deity fears what might happen if the newly unified Equestrian’s were to seek global domination. He launches a war on Equestria which lasts for 3 years. This becomes known as the First Griffon War.
4 AC – The First Griffon War culminates when the griffon deity uses a portion of his power to almost completely wipe out the Pegasi. Luna responds by stealing his soul with her scythe, which she still has locked away to this day in an eternal torment. The First Griffon War ends with the griffons fleeing back to Griffonstone. With the murder of their gods, the griffons regress to a greedy and self serving society.
100 AC – The Castle of the Two Sisters is built.
300 AC – The Changeling Empire appears.
350 AC – Tirek and Scorpan appear from a distant land. Scorpan befriends Starswirl and alerts the princesses to Tirek's plans when he refused to abandon his plans. Tirek is banished to Tartarus while Scorpan returned to his homeland.
500 AC – The War of the Shifters begins.
580 AC – The War of the Shifters ends.
1,240 AC – Mythic Haze, the pony who would one day become Aurora’s chosen and her husband, is born. He is the most powerful unicorn since Starswirl the Bearded and quickly rises to prominence as Equestria’s most powerful mortal.
1,270 AC – Princess Aurora is born. She is the first naturally born alicorn ever and quickly learns her place as the Goddess of Magic. Under her guidance Equestria’s unicorns become considerably more powerful, to the point of being able to levitate entire mountains and flip them upside down to serve as floating cities. By this point in time Princess Aurora has placed no limitations on magic, so mortals are able to draw far too much power.
1,290 AC - The demon lord Baphomet, after learning of Luna and Celestia and their divine status, attempts to slay them. He invades Equestria for the next 8 years in an attempt to slaughter the Goddesses and reign over the world himself.
1,295 AC – Distraught by the destruction caused by Baphomet and believing that Princess Aurora was not doing enough with her power to stop him, Mythic Haze attempts the most powerful spell that Ponykind had ever seen. With this spell he attempted to steal the power of his wife, Princess Aurora, and put it to what he saw as a better use. Only at the completion of the spell does he realize his error, as he glimpses the fact that stealing so much power would kill his wife. With Princess Aurora dead, magic would stop functioning.
Mythic Haze is turned into stone from the magical backlash and the last thing he witnesses is the dozens of floating cities around Equestria plummeting to the ground. Millions are killed in the accident which becomes known as ‘Mythics Folly’ to the Equestrians. Princess Aurora is killed for several years and during that time magic is chaotic and wild, killing many magic users who attempt to harness it.
1,298 AC - The demon lord Baphomet and the Legions of Hell are finally defeated by Equestria, and Baphomet is banished back to Hell after being slain by the combined efforts of Luna, Celestia, and Aurora. The remaining demons are either slaughtered or return to Hell with him. Between this war and Mythics Folly, Equestria is in a very bad state.
1,300 AC – Princess Aurora is resurrected within the Weave and immediately places restrictions on magic. Her first restriction was that no spells stronger than a Signature Spell may be cast by a mortal. Her second restriction was that spell casters now had to limit their magical usages; effectively forcing them to now use ‘Spell Points’ instead of casting magic without a care. The third restriction was that spells now required much more complex incantations and sigils, leading to it being harder to use magic in the first place.
This became known as Aurora’s Ban.
1,480 AC – King Sombra overthrows the current ruler of The Crystal Empire, Princess Amore, and enslaves the population. Luna and Celestia banish him, but he places a curse on The Crystal Empire which causes it to vanish.
1,521 AC – While exploring an ancient Primordial crypt, Princess Luna is exposed to an incredibly old evil which attempts to possess her. She fights it off for the next several years, but eventually it takes over.
1,531 AC - Pegasi begin to go missing.
1,535 AC - After a large amount of magical experimentation on pegasi by Nightmare Moon, bat ponies are finally created. They were created as an order of elite guards, operating only at night. Mutated wings allowed them to fly silently, sharp fangs and teeth allowed them to bite at enemies, and their eyes were mutated to allow night vision. All bat ponies eat meat, but a select few can even drink blood, leading to frightening myths among the Celestial Troops of the time.
1,535 AC - Nightmare Moon makes herself known to Equestria for the first time during the Summer Sun Celebration, in which she attacks Celestia. Having fully possessed Princess Luna, she uses her newfound power to wipe out thousands at the brink of the initial attack, flanked by her elite bat ponies. These bat ponies are enhanced with divine blood, and quickly mow down regular troops. The combined forces of Princess Celestia, Starswirl the Bearded, and all of Equestria's military manage to fend off Nightmare Moon and her bat ponies.
1,535-1,550 AC - The Eclipse War continues, as Nightmare Moon does her best to combat Equestria. However, despite all her strength and power, she is no military strategist. She relies less on tactics and more on raw strength and surprise to appear and decimate populations.
1,550 AC – The Eclipse War reaches its final stages. Nightmare Moon and Princess Celestia's battle ends up creating the Ghastly Gorge and finally spills into the Castle of the Two Sisters. The castle is destroyed in the ensuing magical explosions and the war finally ends with Luna’s banishment. The Era of the Alicorns ends. The Era of Peace begins. It’s at this point when Celestia and Luna lost their connection to the elements. The magic of the Elements prematurely ages Celestia into the alicorn equivalent of adulthood.
2,480 AC – Ponyville is founded.
2,540 AC - A powerful unicorn accidentally tears open a gateway to Hell while under Aurora's guidance. They are killed by the outflow of demons and Aurora decides to jump inside of the portal, with the easiest way to close it being on the inside. She remains trapped in there for 30 years.
2,550 AC – Nightmare Moon returns, Princess Luna is cleansed and the Era of Peace ends. Season 1 takes place. The Era of Harmony begins.
2,551 AC – Season 2 takes place. Discord returns and is once again defeated.
2,552 AC – Season 3 takes place. The Crystal Empire returns, King Sombra is defeated again. Twilight Sparkle ascends into Alicornhood.
2,553 AC – Season 4 takes place. The Elements of Harmony are returned to the Tree of Harmony and the Tree gives a locked chest in return. Tirek escapes from Tartaurus and begins wreaking havoc upon Equestria. The Princesses give Twilight their magic to prevent it from being stolen. Twilight and co. unlock the chest and acquire the Rainbow Power which is used to stop Tirek. The Castle of Friendship appears.
2,554 AC – Season 5 takes place. The cutie map is used for the first time and Starlight Glimmer is first encountered, then defeated. Princess Luna stops giving herself nightmares via the tantabus. Princess Flurry Heart is born to Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. Starlight Glimmer goes back in time to prevent the Sonic Rainboom and spawns at least six alternate timelines. She eventually gives up and is taken as Twilight's student.
2,555 AC – Season 6 takes place. The Crystal Heart is destroyed but is soon fixed once again. The Changeling Thorax defects to the ponies. The Princesses and Mane Six are kidnapped/replaced by Changelings. Starlight Glimmer, Discord, Trixie Lulamoon and Thorax go on a suicide mission to the Changeling hive to rescue them. They succeed and the Changelings who defected to Thorax become Changelings. Queen Chrysalis escapes and refuses to be reformed.
2,556 AC – Season 7 takes place.
2,557 AC – Season 8 takes place.
2,558 AC – Season 9 takes place.
2,560 AC – The Second Griffin War starts.
2,560 AC - The Second Griffon War ends.
2,570 AC – Present day. Princess Aurora is rescued by the combined efforts of Princesses Celestia, Luna, Salacia, Silvanus, Cadence and Twilight Sparkle.
