A scene came into view as your world grew dark.
Objects of identical volume could possess different mass due to a difference in their density. Although their volume might be identical, how could the space they occupied be? Density referred to the number of atoms occupying a certain space. Therefore, an object of larger mass occupied a larger space, despite its volume being smaller than the other object.
Why did this matter? It actually didn't.
Naufal Ahmed, all things considered, was a good looking man. Although his nose was too small, his high cheekbones helped to save his look. His face was nothing spectacular -- just slightly above average -- but he had qualities that attracted people. Things like his friendly disposition, his easy smile, or his modest yet tasteful fashion sense carried him far in the society. Of course, none of this matter to the smug (and elegant) persian cat that bit his head off and chewed on his butt.
Lovely Ruckus was not as lovely or busy as its name. Lovely Ruckus, in fact, was the name of a strip club downtown of Gornio. The strip club was true to its name tonight; strippers and patrons alike were attacked by a group of violent and ridiculously strong cats, leaving most of their clothes stripped from their body. Their claws could pierce steels like foam. Their hiss was equivalent to a sonic wave attack.
It all started when a black cat somehow entered the strip club and slept on the stage. The patrons naturally picked him and threw him out, but the cat returned to the stage in less than a minute. This time, they put the black cat inside a cage, but it somehow made a hole in the cage and returned... to sleep on the stage again. On a normal day, the cat would be annoying, but Velma was a new girl and this was a huge hit on her confidence. Furious, the club called PowPaw Animal, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the control of mutated animals. The cat was definitely one.
It was supposed to be the end of the trouble. Despite the somewhat silly name, PowPaw Animal was professional, with numerous animal-related talent holders under its command. Cat Whisperer arrived shortly and controlled the cat to willingly remove itself from the club and into the custom-built kennel to confine Talent Animals... or that was what supposed to happen.
When Cat Whisperer tried to control the cat, the cat instead pushed the man back and meowed. Its meow echoed through the whole room, the whole building, and the whole town. Talent Cats invaded Lovely Ruckus. Talented people consisted of less than 20% of the population, and less than 20% of the patrons were Talented. It didn't matter in the long run; the Talented died as swiftly as the mundane. In the midst of the chaos, the black cat slept on the stripping stage.
On the second floor of Lovely Ruckus, a boy sat on a bed. Beside him, a figure was laying down, seemingly unconscious. The boy made some strange gestures midair, frowning as he did so. As the figure started to wake up, the boy ceased his gestures.
"When Katie the Destroyer took his nap, he was supposed to do so in a bear cave somewhere in Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the moon eclipse yesterday distorted his trajectory and he went to nap in this building instead. Cat Whisperer failed his attempt due to bad luck, and now I need a replacement hero to fill his role. Take a look at your mission."
A translucent screen appeared in front of the figure's view.
