Fantasy Ministry Interns

Raythegayisaokay

Junior Member
The ministry is running low on hands in the offices. They've decided to hire students from every different wizarding school around the world. Luckily, your test scores were high enough to get you noticed or a family member put in a good word. It's your job to follow instructions given to you... no matter how odd they seem. Here at the ministry you will do everything from taking care of owls to sitting in on court cases. Perhaps you'll be lucky and even go out on business with your boss. The wizarding world awaits. All you have to do is send in your portfolio.

Good Luck.

What does the ministry mean to you? How can you use this to further your abilities or education once the summer is over?

Answer:

Name: Kennedy Smiths

age: 17

school: Ilvermorny

main form of communication: a mirror

wand type: laurel wood with a Phoenix feather core

strengths: his ability to read expressions and knowing just how to cheer people up

weaknesses: his past and thinking about the future

broom or no broom: broom definitely

years of magical study: 6

likes: thrills, adventures, meeting new people, making people happy. Fighting for a cause.

dislikes: when people are rude to his friends and family, having to share when he doesn't need to, people who make fun of others, having a cause that requires violence.

writing sample:

The whisps that left the dark mahagony tip of his wand where pale and weak as his power drained, the fighting was almost over and he could feel his muscles slowly cramp up. It was so close to being over, he could almost see it. With his eyes squeezed almost painfully shut he opened his mouth to let out a animalistic shout of rage, his sweat dripping down his face as he stumbled forward a foot and the power flowed forth, the whisps becoming a blinding beam of white light that blinded the great beast, the roar the bellowed from within it shaking the ground. A great thud was followed by deffening silence and Kennedy found himself on his knees, the rocky ground not seeming to bother him as he opened his eyes to face the dead monster who had murdered his family years ago. It was over and he was free.

answer:

The ministry has run in his family, his father and his father before him had all done great work there and he only moved to the US to live with his cousins after the murder of his father whom had been a single parent. He wishes to move to London and gain a job working in the ministry and thinks this summer job will inspire him to work harder for his goals than previously.

Name: Ras Silas Gideon

Age: 20

School: Hogwarts

main form of communication: water using the reflection

Wand type: Black ebony

Image:

Strengths: genius magical practitioner, very strategic mind and has an incredibly advanced mental age

Weaknesses: next to no empathy, hard to associate with others, gets irritable easily around optimists

Broom or no broom: he uses a staff as opposed to a broom but it works the exact same way

Years of magical study: 10 in and out of school (he teaches himself when not studying in school)

Likes: intelligent people, strength, realistic thinking

Dislikes: idiots, optimists, cockiness

Writing sample: Ras sat in his chair tiredly after studying, he had a forelock expression as he felt his progression and magical power increase was slowing. The man felt this to be a bitter taste to swallow as he felt power was everything to mage; although he was extremely bright for his age and frighteningly proficient in a multitude of magics, he felt this still wasn't enough. He was good, but not the best; and that is what he needed to be, the greatest, the most powerful wizard in existence. Ras was a very peculiar fellow, he detested weakness and ignorance, as well as optimism as he had seen the dark side of magic up close and personally, and it most certainly was not all flowers and rainbows. It was twisted and disgruntled; regardless he was undeterred, Ras practiced all magic, dark or light, Ras, would not be beaten, this was his blood oath.

What does the ministry mean to you? How can you use this to further your abilities or education once the summer is over?

Answer: it will allow Ras to gain experience in real wizarding and be able to assess the strength levels of others. Once done Ras hopes this experience will let him gain access to new spells and be able to have valuable combat experience. His goal is to surpass all wizards and become the strongest wizard alive, as his mother was killed, he assumes this was due to weakness and inability; so, he intends to become as strong as physically possible. Ras has a unique and difficult to manage personality, it makes him suited to dealing with criminals and court cases, but not other wizards.

Name: Aurora Rain Moreau

Age: 20

School: Beauxbatons Academy of Magic

main form of communication: Vibe (a form of telepathy)

Wand type: Sycamore wood with a unicorn hair core 13 3/4" and quite bendy flexibility

Image:
43zbQby.jpg

Strengths: Telepathic abilities, Care of magical creatures, Apparition

Weaknesses: Anything dark, darkness, ice, socialization in general. Despite being able to use telepathy, she cannot close her mind to others using it, which opens her up to people reading her mind. She obsesses on researching things she doesn't know.

Broom or no broom: no broom

Years of magical study: 6

Likes: All things magical. creatures of any kind, studying behaviors and traits, learning new techniques to calm/summon/banish creatures

Dislikes: Most people because she is pretty shy, cocky/arrogant people, house elves (not the elves but the slavery of it).

Writing sample:

Aurora stood in the garden that decorated the campus of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Her blonde hair whipped around her face as the wind picked up, carrying the sent of the flowers along with it. The gentle "hoo" of an owl came from nearby and Aurora's blue eyes looked towards the source. A barn own with a message tied around it's leg sat perched on the fence that separated flowers from people. "Well, look at you. Do you have a message for me?" Aurora cooed. A French accent caressed her words as she spoke. The owl tilted his head and fluttered it's wings gently as she approached for the note. Her delicate fingers untied the parchment and the owl flew off. She unraveled it to reveal a message from the Ministry of Magic. Her eyebrow lifted as she scanned the carefully written letters. Below the message was a simple question:

"What does the ministry mean to you? How can you use this to further your abilities or education once the summer is over?"

Aurora bit her tongue gently as she mused over the thought of going to work with the ministry of magic. She wouldn't have to work with tons of people directly...hopefully. Maybe she could finally convince the ministry to add a Magical Creature section? She shook her head and gently waved her wand to produce to write an answer.

Answer: The ministry of magic maintains the functioning world between Muggles and Wizards. With me working at the Ministry, I would bring multiple ideas to the table that has slipped between the cracks between Muggles and Wizards. I would love to study to work within the Ministry, but if my contract was eliminated, I would use that knowledge to educate Wizards who may be further away and not know the separation between Wizards and Muggles, maybe even come back to teach at Beauxbatons.

Aurora scanned her answer with a satisfied smile and gave a small whistle. A great horned owl silently landed on her arm, it's claws digging into her skin from her lack of protection. She gently tied the parchment on the horned owl and let him sore towards the Ministry. She gently covered the pierced skin with her right hand, protecting the scratches from bleeding. A sigh escaped her plump lips before she turned to head back to her studies.

Weaknesses: Deaf, emotionally weak(won't kill someone even if its necessary)

Broom or no broom: No broom

Years of magical study: 6

Likes: Muggle Customs and muggles or just anyone in general

Dislikes: People who use their power for evil, people who are selfish and only for themselves

Writing sample: Tonks sat at the edge of his bed and stared out the window, he saw two birds in his yard pecking at the ground, perhaps looking for a tasty snack, he wondered where his dog was. His dog usually attacks anything in his yard, the dog was a small dachshund with black and brown fur, she was 3 years old and her birthday was in 2 months. The dog was probably asleep, resting for its big day of chasing birds and digging holes in the yard, or perhaps eating Tonks shoes. Tonks looked away from the window and at his phone, he turned it on to see if he had any notifications. Muggles he said, they're always inventing something new, what's next trees that can talk. Tonks laughed and put his phone down, he then walked over to the shower and got ready for his big day.

What does the ministry mean to you? How can you use this to further your abilities or education once the summer is over?

Answer: The ministry is a place of safety, a place of protection. The ministry is a place where a wizard or witch can go to for protection. The ministry protects us and the muggles from each other because muggles can't handle the information that we hold. I can use this position to help my brethren in protection, to care  for them, to help them. I can use this position to further protect the muggles, I can use this position to help everyone, even you.

accepted!! We can now start! I'll post an opening by 8 pm pacific standard time.

The letters had been sent, the few chosen students would likely show up within the next few days and the Minister hoped that they would treat it with urgency. He had reclined in his seat, the fire crackling across the lavish office before a puff of green light and smoke billowed out and the flames where replaced with a man in a deep emerald cloak, his short hair was greasy and hung around his pale and worn looking face. It was obvious this man was under a great amount of stress and he strode across the room before the Minister could even jump up from his relaxed position. The man brandished his wand and produced his protronus, the Minister immediately relaxed as the goat hopped once around the room before fizzling away. He once more took his seat but eyed the man worriedly. "What is it you need, Aberforth?" the man fell into his seat and pushed his wand into the folds of his cloak where it had come from, now that he had been identified he could get serious about why he of all people had come to the Ministers office so late in the evening."Sir, you do realize exposing these.. these children to the ministry will set them on paths they least expect, right? And all together?" The man was looking at the minister like he had lost his mind. "Now, now. It's a summer internship, we need the help and they won't be put in too much danger."  The man stood up abruptly and rose his voice as he pointed to the door, "There is still danger! You cannot let these students go out with those reckless wizards you call employees, they'll be dead before school starts." with a deadly look the youngest Dumbledore left alive turned to leave the room, his last words seeming to ring through the room. His message was clear and made the Minister truly think about this decision, "The public is watching."

The time is nine thirty in the morning, the metaphorical doors to the ministry are open and wizards and other magical creatures of every shape and size are flooding in, Kennedy stands in the middle of a tall almost black hallway, the fireplaces on either side are releasing wizard after wizard into the open space and he turns, mouth slightly opened in awe at the greatness of this place. He is obviously out of place in his khaki shorts and loose black t-shirt, the hair on his head is messy and the glasses perched in the brown tangles reflect the flames in warped views. He was astonished and completely lost, for he had no clue what the layout of this so called building was or where the meeting hall he was supposed to be in was. He had heard there where other students like him invited but he had yet to see someone who looked younger than one hundred years old. He had tried to ask for help but he was only brushed off and rushed away from. He had wondered if it was his New York accent or the fact that he wasn't ancient. He was hoping for some help before it was too late to continue the internship at all. He could not handle missing the first day if it held any significance in his set schedule for the summer.

"I, I MADE IT?!?!?!, I CANT BELIEVE IT, OUT OF ALL PEOPLE THEY CHOOSE ME" Tonks said as he was bursting with excitement. Tonks went to his dog and picked her up spinning it circles and dancing. The dog was getting annoyed and started growling. "Oh sorry boo, oh no, its 9:30, i need to hurry". Tonks ran to the shower and soaped up really quick, he quickly got his towel and dried off running toward his closet. He got a shirt and put a flannel over it, he then put a pair of jeans on and put some vans on. He then rushed over and got his wand and a backpack, a backpack containing medicines, "just incase" he said. He went over and grabbed the new phone that the muggles recently made. Rushing over to the fireplace he said the spell and threw a special salt down. In an instant he was teleported to the ministry, it was gigantic and crazy, people running all over the place in every direction. He looked around the crown for anything that looked young, and then he saw a boy, a boy that looked around his age. He rushed over to the boy with messy hair and said "are you here for the internship, plus do you have any idea where were going if you are?"

Aurora was sitting in the forest when the owl arrived for her. She sat in the woods, surrounded by three centaurs. They laid lazily near her, chatting and sipping tea. She had a custom that every Sunday she would bring them tea and chat about what was going on in the woods. There were two males and a female, and Aurora enjoyed their company a lot. The female centaur lifted her head a bit as the owl approached. Her chestnut legs moving a tad as if ready to leave if necessary. Aurora lifted a hand gently and shook her head. "It is ok, the owls know where to find me, not the people" she smiled, holding a hand out for the owl. It hoped over to her, exposing the note on it's leg. She gently unwrapped it to read that she had been accepted into the ministry. An eyebrow lifted and the centaurs began to question her. "It looks like I will have a take a rain check on the rest of our tea sessions" she chuckled a bit, handing them the note. They scanned it and congratulated her, patting her on the back and ruffling her blonde hair. She shooed their hands away and laughed gently, standing. "I must cut our visit short I am afraid..." she smiled, bowing to them and heading back to her room to pack.

She packed a small bag of books, but nothing else. She carried a journal with notes about magical creatures and an anatomy book on such creatures. She put on a black dress that fell to her knees. White lace decorated the collar. Her nostrils flared as she sighed. She had never traveled through the fireplace before...but it was the only way to get to the ministry from her location. She ran the salt through her fingers and tossed it in the fireplace, watching the green flames roar.

Aurora felt like the life was sucked out of her as she was dumped into the ministry. She gasped a bit, stumbling forward and instantly colliding with some people who gave her a sour face. There were so many people...where was she supposed to go? She fiddled a bit with her bag, walking gently forward, trying to avoid any more collisions. She saw some people that stood nearby. One had mentioned an internship and she realized these were the others. She made a quick assessment of them from afar then slowly approached, not saying anything. She was shy with people in general, especially ones her age.

Not getting an answer from the boy he turned around to see a girl standing by them. She was quiet and seemed very overwhelmed at the sight of so many people. "Um hello, are you here for the ministry internship?" Tonks asked. He hoped she would listen to him and not be distracted by the sight to ignore him. Tonks then said "oh sHoot!, forgive me, my name is Tonks, what is yours?"

@Rainingsunshine

Aurora was in a bit of a panic when Tonks approached her. He seemed rather cheerful for being in such a crowded place. Someone bumped into her and she stumbled forward, her books spilling to the ground as her bag split open. "Uh..." she sighed, rubbing her temples. Her blues eyes refocused on Tonks as her eyelids fluttered open. "I am...nice to meet you. I am Aurora" she said with a slight french accent. She knelt, picking up her books slowly but one skid across the ground as someone kicked it. It pained her to watch her journal slide across the floor, but she could fix it. It wasn't the first time this has happened.

@ewanesloco

"Oh! let me help you with that" Tonks said also kneeling down trying to help pick up her books. "Umm, not to be rude but can you right your name down on a piece of paper so i can read it, I'm sorry it's just that....that I'm deaf, i can understand you, you said nice to meet you, but i can tell your name is too complex for mouth reading, but from what i've seen from the movement of your mouth is that its beautiful and unique" Tonks said with a smile. Tonks then went over to her journal and picked it up, giving it to her, he looked at it, the journal was nice, few scratches but she didn't seem to care, he hands her back the journal and says "sorry those retards kicked your journal".

@Rainingsunshine

Aurora was surprised a stranger would help her pick up her fallen books. I guess there is a time for everything she thought. She listened to him speak and gave him an odd look when he asked her to write her name down. Despite her not being super familiar with people, she knew that writing names down was not common in introductions. She picked up another book and then gently took the journal from his hands. Her long fingers wrapped around the leather book, gently sliding it in the stack she held. She chuckled at his insult and gave a rare smile to him. She nodded to his request, pulling a feather from her ripped bag. With a wave of her wand, an ink well appeared next to her. She gently dabbed the quill in the ink and wrote out her name in her journal. A.U.R.O.R.A she wrote. Her letters were loopy and it was obviously she had practiced her calligraphy often. She smiled at him and handed him the book so he could read her name.

"Aurora, thats a pretty name, also pretty writing, looks like someone practices a lot" Tonks said. As Tonks looked at the girl he noticed her eyes, they were blue and very appealing. Tonks then thought about his hand writing, she must practice a lot because mine sucks . "So aurora, do you think we'll go on any crazy adventures because that is one of the biggest reasons i signed up other then trying to find out more about muggle customs, they're freaking weird, so why'd you sign up" Tonks said curiously. Tonks wondered why she wanted to join, it was obvious for certain people but Aurora was a little hard to read from Tonks view. Tonks looked at the time too and realized they didn't have much time or they'd be late on their first day.

Aurora hugged her books to her chest, giving a small laugh at his comment about her writing. Her guard dropped a bit and she said "The centaurs taught me" she said with a small smile. She traced the journal with her finger, missing her friends back home already. Her eyes moved back to Tonks. He seemed so upbeat...and he was deaf? She couldn't believe that someone was different and not harassed for it. She listened to him talk and gave a chuckle her and then from his interest in Muggles. She wouldn't fit in the Muggle world. "I am here for the experience really. I hope to be able to bring a Magical Creature section to the ministry. There is a lot we could do to work with them and they need protection too" she said gently. She noticed the other student still standing there. ( @Raythegayisaokay ) As soon as she was about to say something else, the Minister approached them. She studied the man quickly. He was aged but aged well and a lot of experience sparked behind those eyes. "Ah, you are the students for the internship, yes?" he asked, his hands lifting in greeting.

(hope its ok I took over the minister a bit, just trying to progress lol!)

A man came up to where Tonks and his fellow interns were, it looked like he said something about the internship, Tonks looked excited, he could barely hold himself from jumping up and down and running all over. Tonks looked at Aurora and said "are you ready cause I'm ready". He walked up to the man and said "hi I'm Tonks, oh and this is Aurora, and we think he's with us but he hasn't said anything. Tonks stepped back and smiled at Aurora saying "told ya".

Aurora watched as Tonks grew with a massive amount of excitement. Watching him alone made her excited. She nodded to him when he proclaimed his "told ya". She hugged her books tightly, moving close to the two boys with a tinge of nervousness. This was all happening...maybe she had a chance to make herself into someone who could help....

"Well, hello there, Tonks!" The minister proclaimed. "I am the Minister for Magic here! I would be more than happy to show you students around!" he proclaimed, spinning on his heel and moving at a quick pace. As he moved, he spoke towards the students. "We have the Department of Magical Law Enforcement" he said, waving his hand towards a hallway that seemed quite bare. It seemed to shimmer and if one focused hard, they could see it was a simple illusion. A sign said "Department of Magical Law Enfocement, including the improper use of magic office, auror headquarters, and wizengamot Administration Services" The minister of magic continued "The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes" he waved down another direction. A huge puff of smoke was flowing steadily into the hallway. He looked towards Tonks "I have a feeling you will like that department" he winked. The sign there read "Accidental Magic reversal Squad, Obliviator headquarters, Muggle worth excuse committee, invisibility task force, and muggle liaison office" The Minster got distracted and stopped to talk to a small woman for a few minutes, giving the students time to catch their breath from the brisk walk.
