TL\DR Backstory:
Melina Woadborne; born into a small druidic clan of dwarves that had taken to the wilderness after discovering a deeper love for nature than that of precious metals. Her family among a few who left civilization behind and taken to the hilly grasslands, seeking a more balanced life. Born to father Thesroug and mother Eridtre Woadborne, she lived a simple life with her brother Thulron Woadborne. Her father was an accomplished mason and sculptor and her mother a member of the druids. Melina is a bookworm, always reading her adventure storybooks or researching some forgotten druid art. After an otherwise unremarkable life, Melina and her brother have taken to a life of adventure. Even though Thulron disapproves of the decision and is very vocal about it.

Expanded Background:
Born into a small druidic clan of dwarves that had taken to the wilderness after discovering a deeper love for nature than that of precious metals. Her family, among a few others who have left civilization behind and taken to the hilly grasslands seeking a more balanced life. Born to father Thesroug and mother Eridtre Woadborne, she lived a simple life with her brother Thulron Woadborne. Her father was an accomplished mason and sculptor and her mother a member of the druids.
Everything changed the day that her brother was out hunting with fellow dwarves and came across the kill from a young wyvern. In fear of leaving such a beast to roam so close to the village, they chose to track and kill it having no time to return and warn others. The group of young hunters attempted to track the wyvern through the wilds, but were startled to find that it had been hunting them all along.
In the following battle Eridtre, Melina's mother, died protecting her. She had secretly been following her brother, wanting to witness his hunt. She had snuck away and her mother had been following her when the wyvern has snuck up behind Melina and cornered her, instead of the hunting party it had been stalking. It was during that battle that Thulron became known as a folk hero of their village, by shapeshifting into a brown bear in the wake of his mother's death. Quickly he ending the now weakened wyvern and protecting what was left of his fellow dwarves but more importantly, her. In this moment, Melina's admiration for her brother became unbreakable.
Aftertheir mother's death, Thulron became Melina's mentor and trained her to the best of his ability in the druidic rites and the teachings of Silvanus as their mother had done for him. Melina continues to openly blame herself for what happened to their mother on that day of Thulron's triumph. He has taught her that the careful consideration of one's actions should be utmost; as they can never be undone.
Many years passed, Thulron spent much of his time with Melina's training and studies. He would tend to the living duties and their father who was continually fading in age. They lived off the land from Thulron's hunting for food and brewing his occasional ale. They made money by traded pelts and the leftover sculptings of his father and the few that Melina would part with, as well as small batches of his ale.
Thesroug would eventually pass just months before Melina's fiftieth birthday, which for a dwarf is coming of age, and as the days drew on her brother could tell that she was dying inside. She was to become a full-fledged adult and now both of their parents were no longer with them. She put up a brave and occasionally stoic face when they were together, but he knew it to be a lie. Thulron growing distressed with the uneasiness she was feeling asked her what he could do for her birthday this year. He told her that it could be anything in the world. She told him that she wanted to go on an adventure, like from one of her books, to be a hero like her brother once was for her village.
Thulron was at first angered by the thought of leaving behind everything they had, everything their family and the clan had worked to build after leaving to form the village. However, this soon faded as he realized that it was not to abandon everything they had built, but to escape everything that reminded Melina of it. Thulron would finally agree and the two of them would leave but days later. Seeking her adventures would eventually land them in the town of Daggerford. Even as they spend their days seeking to help others in the name of being heroic, Thulron disapproves of the decision and actively tries to steer her back to the simple life they had before.
