Meeting the reaper

Jack woke up after a while and looked around. He looked down at her and smiled. He kissed her forehead then sat up. He looked around if he was looking for something. He looked back at her then got up. He put his clothes on and stretched.

As soon as Jack moved away from her, the devil was jolted from her deep sleep. Blearily wiping her eyes, Kath sat up and stretched,"Whatcha looking for?"

"A pass..." He said looking in the dresser. He finally found it. He held it in his hands it was like he was studying it. He sat back on the bed and looked over at her.

Crawling to peer over his shoulder, she pointed to it,"What's that for? Why'd you need it?" She laid her arm over his shoulders, smiling softly.

"Yes! Do I get to pick it out? Are there hellcats? Is there like an adoption centre for dead animals?" The girl leapt up, grabbing a pair of black jeans and a red checked shirt, which she pulled on.

Jack nodded. "Yes you can pick it out and death has all the animals that's why I need this pass yes there are hellcats" Jack smiled. "Also you seem excited" He said with a smile.

"I bloody love cats. I would sell you for a cat, and I love you more than...death itself." Kath buttoned her shirt, picking up a comb from his dresser to detangle her long hair. She bounced on the balls of her feet in excitement as she laced up her boots.

Jack rasied his eyebrow and mumbled something she couldn't hear. He shook his head. He grabbed his scythe and two passes. He opened the portal and waited for her.

Happily, Kath strolled through the portal, a wide grin on her face which showed her pearly white fangs. She fixed her hair, wanting to make a good second impression on his father. And for the cat.

Jack walked beside her. He would look at her for a few seconds then look back straight. Lots of ideas were around in his head thinking about them. He would start daydreaming time to time.

As a child, her family had owned a cat: a straggly brown cat with chunks ripped from his ear. Walking with a bounce in her step, she was reminded of that cat, who died peacefully of old age.

Jack walked in the doors they walked in last time. The other reapers weren't there. Jack looked up at his father. "Hello son hello kath is there something you two need?" He asked turning back from what he was doing. Jack held out the pass to his father. He went closer to them and took the pass. "Alright what do you need" He said putting the pass in his pocket.

"A cat! Please. Sir." Her excitement had gotten the better of her, so she was forced to pile on words at the end. A blush fell over her cheeks, as she cast her eyes towards the ground, out of both respect and embarrassment.

Jack looked at her. Death was laughing. "So excited...Alright then come" Death walked toward a door. Jack grabbed her hand and went toward the door. Inside the door was different doors. Jack looked at the different doors. Death went into the cat door and jack followed. Inside the door was lots of cats different sizes and some horns on their head and some with hoods.

Kath followed obediently, jaw dropping at the wide array of cats. "Can I play with them?" She asked, mostly out of formality, as she couldn't resist all the cats in the life. Locking eyes with one particular cat, she melted completely. It was a fluffy white and black cat, with bright amber eyes and small white horns, that evoked a pained-sounding noise from deep within the woman.

Death shrugged. "Go ahead.." He said with a smile. Jack went over to his father and whispered something in his ear handing him the other pass. He nodded and smiled. "Never thought it would happen but ok.." Death said with a smile and chuckled. Jack rolled his eyes and watched Kath.

Joy filling her, the devil made her way to the cat, kneeling on the floor and offering it her hand. Tentatively, the feline lapped at her hand, before brushing against her. "Babe, this one's so cute!" A ginger kitten then leapt onto her, its hood covering its eyes, elicitig more squeals,"Can I live here? Is that an option?"

Death laughed. "No that is not a option but you can always come and play with them" Death said smiling. Jack shrugged. "I prefer dogs.." Jack said looking at his father. "Of course you do..." He said rolling his eyes still smiling.

A cat approached tentatively, with sleek, brown fur and green eyes. It was her childhood cat, and upon seeing it, she burst into tears. Yet, it seemed happier amongst the other felines than it ever had been with her, so after a little cuddling, Kath did a final sweep of the cats. Then, she picked up the black and white maine coon she encountered first.

Jack was talking to his father about something. Jack looked over at her and smiled. "Did you pick on yet?" He asked tilting his head a little.

"This one." She gestured to the cat which lay comfortably against her ample chest, which purred as she stroked it. Grinning, she walked over to her boyfriend and future father-in-law, joy buzzing through her blood.

Jack smiled. "So you two are staying with each other?" Death said raising a eyebrow. Jack looked at his father and closed his eyes for a moment then opened them again. He looked at kath and nodded.

Sensing that she'd missed something, Kath just nodded obediently and kissed the top of her new cat's head. Nerves filled her for the first time, so she tried to cope by returning her attention to the cats surrounding them.

Death turned his attention on her. "Do you want to stay in one room together?" He asked with a serious look on his face. Jack looked at a cat that came to him.
