Today is the day. Flight 216 from New York City, to Sydney, Australia leaves at 6am. Yes, incredibly early. But it's your flight. You and 346 other passengers. 347 stories, 347 reasons for making the trip. Perhaps you're returning home to visit family. Maybe it's time for your yearly vacation because those sick days have to be used. Maybe you're a single parent and their child moving for a better life, or just a college student taking part of some exchange program. Whatever the reason, fate has brought you to flight 216. The airline isn't important. Neither is the name of each of the king stewards who welcome you aboard. Who you get to watch help a kid live their dreams for a day with the simple temporary gift of a pin. That kid's laughter lit up everyone who could hear it, putting the passengers at ease.
You know...it's human nature to push away the idea that bad things can happen to you and your family. You push those thoughts aside every day when you get in the car, or see someone you care about drive off down the road. It made the day go by easier. One woman in economy turns to her husband, asking what happens if the plan goes down. Poor thing always was a nervous flyer. Her husband, as always, tries to reassure her that won't happen. He hands over the beaten neck pillow and her eye mask, knowing it would help keep her calm once they were in the air. The passengers who heard her couldn't blame those thoughts. It's something everyone experienced, normally when turbulence shook the plan a little too much to be comfortable. The kind of turbulence that made your heart skip, your breath get caught in your throat.
But...human nature meant that these thoughts were pushed to the back of your head quickly. Nothing would go wrong, nothing would interfere with the young businessman meticulously going over his proposals. Or the musician hoping to claim their own spot in the limelight, just like their older brother. But flight 216...it was a long ride. And anything could happen.
Howdy howdy! I'm FireMaiden and for the last few weeks, I've really been wanting to do a plane crash survival RP. And because I can't seem to find one...here is the MAYDAY interest check! I know from the intro, it's a bit vague and you can't really tell that Flight 216 may be doomed. Maybe the title gives it away, but regardless, MAYDAY is 100% a survival RP. Our characters will end up stuck on an uncharted island somewhere in the South Pacific.
I've taken a bit of inspiration from what I remember about Lost, plus the games The Forest and Green Hell! I hope that there are more people in the same boat as me so we can turn this into something fun! I'd also like to thank everyone who read through this, I'm really bad at making interest checks.
- All Standard RPN Rules apply
- Please be 18+, there will be dark themes, violence, etc.
- You can be the meanest son of a bitch In Character, but OOC be nice. I will not tolerate bigots of any kind OOC
- Please be creative with your characters! Nobody on that plane would be a carbon copy of someone else.
- You can make 2 main characters and NPCs if you want. Your characters can be normal passengers, the crew, etc. You can also use whatever kind of FC you would like. (Personally I will be using one I made on Picrew)
- I expect decent literacy, at least two paragraphs for posts, and one post a week. Preferably more, but I know real life gets in the way.
- This is a sandbox RP, but I do have some story elements here and there. That means there is a lot of room for you to plan for drama, romance, etc etc.
- If you join, but then have to drop, please let me know! Don't just ghost as it can leave gaps and people unsure of what to do. Especially if your character was engaged in an interaction of some sort.
- Since this is a realistic RP, not every character should have survival experience. Watching Alone doesn't equal official training.
- Another aspect of being realistic, your character will get hurt and have normal recovery times. That being said, I won't be killing characters unless I have permission. Or if you leave.
