Exiting from one of the restaurants down in the Wards of the Citadel, Yuzu held in one hand a pair of chopsticks while in the other was a decently sized cup with the words 'cup noodle' branded on the styrofoam material. Lifting up the chopsticks every so often from the inside of the cup just to blow on the strands of seasoned noodles, this was one of the very few times that Yuzu would have his mask lowered. Since he wasn't overworking his body for any fighting or showing any signs of being in any hurry even with his appointment to be meeting with members of the Council in Hanger Bay 001. As he slurped his noodles while he walked, he'd constantly swerve around civilians as they made they way around him while they went about their own business.

On his way toward his destination, he wondered as to who would've shown up for the meeting, while he was one of the few people that the Alliance handpicked for this task he was also told that he was to be expected to be meeting some interesting individuals since the Council was sending out messages throughout the Galaxy about recruiting for whatever this mission was going to be. As he continued to eat his cup noodles, by the time he had finished, Yuzu happened to reach the elevator that would lead him down towards the Hanger Bay. Pressing the green switch to summon for the elevator, Yuzu reminisced the order from his superiors regarding this meeting.

--Flashback: 1600 Hour. Aboard the U.S.S Trinity--

"A new mission? Sir, negotiations on Omega are not done yet. Are you sure about this?" Yuzu, who at this point in time had been sitting at a desk in the living quarters assigned to him by the Commander of the Trinity. In front of him was a hologram of the Admiral of the 1st division fleet of the Alliance military who stood with his arms held behind his back. "Absolutely Takahashi. I have already spoken to Commander Johnson, he is aware of the urgency for the need of your withdrawal from this mission. You are to return to the Citadel immediately and meet with the Council in Hanger Bay 001 by 0900 Hour on the dot. There will be an Alliance operative in Docking Bay 06 who will be transporting you back to the Citadel." As the older male spoke, Yuzu couldn't help but remain silent while he stared down at the keyboard by his hands, lost in thought he wondered what possibly could've caused the need for his return that he would be recalled from a mission just because something else came up suddenly.

"Yes sir..." Knowing that disobeying a direct order would only end negatively for him, Yuzu simply saluted and nodded his head to confirm his next task. Rather than immediately end communication from there, the Admiral saluted in return before his expression softened. "I know you've got tons of questions Takahashi. All will be answered soon, but talk about it right now is far too dangerous and there is no telling if even the Alliances' secure networks are safe from this upcoming threat. Just trust me. You will be working with all manners of individuals soon, this is bigger than anything we've ever dealt with...even possibly bigger than the Reapers." Being told that the issue could be even larger than the Reaper threat, of which Yuzu had only heard stories up till now, it onlyl fed his curiosity even further as to what any of this could mean.

"I understand sir. I'll be there." With that response, the Admiral nodded one final time before the transmission would be finally cut off.

--End of Flashback--

The elevator ride up to the Hanger took little more than a few minutes, by the time he arrived and made his way to his destination, the unfortunate sight that no one else had arrived yet was rather disappointing. Not a single member from the Council had even been there yet. Checking his watch only to see that it was currently 0800 hour, there was little more than an hour left before the destinated meeting time. So until then, Yuzu found a comfortable spot in the Hanger Bay and hopped onto one of the crates on the far side of the room just to sit and wait till the meeting started.

Ve’Nalia flew to the Citadel, she had her own personal ship, a small second-hand ship, but she took care of it well enough. It always seemed to get her where she needed to go, but unfortunately if she was going to take part in this mission, she was going to have to say goodbye to the old girl for a while. She docked her vessel in a hanger for small ships and got out and made her way towards the nearest map so she could see where Hanger 001 was. A smile formed on her face when she found it, but it quickly left her as she thought back on her last call with her friend.

–1 week and 3 days ago, 0400 Hours–

“Seriously, I don’t know how you can deal with exploring all on your own,” The young Asari said.

“Says the mercenary,” Ve’Nalia said teasingly.

“Hey, I’m traveling the galaxy with my crew, you’re just out there all by yourself. Besides it’s not like we’re pirates or the Blood Pack-”

“Because you aren’t Krogans?” Ve’Nalia asked once again, teasing her friend which caused her to sighed.

“Because, we aren’t bloodthirsty, yeah we’re technically guns for hire, but we have standards,” She said.

“Right because you put down a jacket before you kick the Volus over,” She joked.

“V!” The young Asari whined.

“Izzy…I’m kidding…I know you don’t have it in you to kick a Volus,” She said refraining from making anymore jokes so that her friend could speak seriously with her. She may have had no interest in being a mercenary but Iseezze had been her friend since childhood and this seemed to be important to her so she’d keep an open mind. “So…tell me about these standards of yours,” She said, genuinely interested in how her friend had been doing. Asari were not like most species, they were long lived and therefore could go decades without speaking and pick up as if they’d only been out of touch for a day or two. Last she heard Izzy had joined a mercenary band, but she forgot how long ago she heard it.

“Well we help people the council and other military branches don’t have time to help, people who’s problems were deemed unimportant on a larger scale. We still did to make a living though so we do charge, but not a lot and sometimes we can make negotiations for resources instead, nothing that would normally break the bank or leave people destitute,” She said.

“Sounds nice, so are your new friends nice?” Ve’Nalia asked.

“They’re great, I couldn't imagine my life without them at this point and truthfully I think I have a crush on-” before she could finish, the call started to cut up, her voice was breaking apart and it didn’t even seem like she realized anything was wrong.

“Izzy, hold on, something’s up with the connection, let me see if I can fix it,” She set, checking her settings only to see that everything on her in was perfectly fine which made her sigh “Looks like you need to negotiate better reception,” She said to herself mostly when suddenly she heard a weird sound and odd sound that…didn’t seem…normal to her, she’d never heard anything like before…it was unsettling “Izzy…Izzy what’s going on over there?” She asked when suddenly she heard this loud unbearable screeching in her ears, she tried calling for her friend a few more times but eventually turned off the call as she couldn’t take the noise anymore.

She sat for a moment, drifting out in open space, in her small ship, trying to think of what that sound was. She felt like something was wrong, but maybe she was overreacting. Either way she didn’t even get a chance to ask Iseezze where she was. She wasn’t sure what to do for a while, she just…kept flying forward trying to figure out what to do. She could try to find her friend but where would she start? The galaxy was a large place, even for a long lived Asari and what if nothing was wrong? Well she supposed if so they could just laugh about her overreaction if that was the case, but still she had to do something.

She tried for multiple days, trying to reestablish contact with her friend, but she was met with nothing but silence, not even the odd noise could be heard anymore, she’d almost think it was a bad dream she had, that perhaps she had fallen asleep and being alone out in open space was finally getting to her, but that was just wishful thinking…she definitely knew it was real and almost as if it were an omen she heard it. The Citadel council sent out an urgent message to the galaxy, people were needed for an important mission and they were offering a high reward for participation and by high she meant high, more credits that she’d ever made in a lifetime at least, but that just made her think…something definitely had to be wrong. Since when did the council do open recruitments? Since when did they offer such high rewards to anyone that would come? Were they that desperate? Why not just call on the Spectres? To her this could mean only one or two things, either the Spectres were busy…or they couldn’t handle it which meant this was truly an act of desperation and yet…was she any less desperate right now?

She sighed, taking a deep breath as she meditated for a few moments to collect her thoughts before keying in the coordinates for the Widow system “To the Citadel we go…hang in there Izzy…for what it’s worth…I really hope you don’t have anything to do with this,” She said.

–Back to present day–

She had already eaten on the ship, but it was nice to be able to stretch in a wide open space, she wouldn’t call her trusty ship cramped but was definitely a one person vessel, two max, otherwise it really would be cramped. She made her way to the elevator that would take her to the meeting area, hanger bay 001. As she made her descent she crossed her arms, thinking to herself how odd all of this seemed. “First the council does open recruitment and next they’re meeting us in a hangar bay? Since when does the council meet anywhere but the tower?” She asked herself when the doors opened and she looked around to find…no one…well almost no one. There was one person it would seem there was at least one person there, a human sitting on one of the cargo crates. She supposed it would be awkward to just go to a random corner and just not talk to him so she simply approached the human and made herself known.

“Well it seems that I’m early, but not the only person here thankfully,” She said walking up the the cargo crate “I’m Ve’Nalia, Ve’Nalia Nyx’Mala…but it’s way easier to just call me V,” She said “I’m here to answer the council’s doom broadcast which may or may not be a scam, so either we’re about to hear something very interesting yet concerning or…someone’s really desperate to sell citadel condos…either way we’re in this together…um, what is your name by the way?” the young Asari asked.

“Are you sure about this? You have a good job here, your mother is doing much better now that she lives here on the Citadel,” said her supervisor…well former supervisor, she’d be taking a leave of absence since she was going on this council mission of hers. “Better, but not cured, she’s spending more and more time in the hospital and I need a cure, if I want that cure I need the Slalarians and the Slalrians are expensive putting it nicely so if I want any chance at curing Kepral’s syndrome before my grandchildren’s grandchildren are 80 then I need to go on this mission, I’m not important enough to get an audience with the council, even if I was, they could care less about Kepral’s syndrome. Every crew needs a doctor so I’m gonna go help out,” She said.

“This could be, no will most certainly be dangerous!” The Salarian Doctor said clearly worried for her safety.

“Relax, Letan it’s not like I’m helpless. I may not be a professional assassin but my father wasn’t good for nothing,” She said laughing a bit.

“Another great point, who is going to keep my clinic safe if you leave?!” He asked, frantically making any excuse or reason for her to stay.

“C-Sec…as is their job in the first place,” She said.

“Elesi please!”

“Goodbye Letan, see you when I get back,” She said waving as she exited the clinic, quickly turning down the hall where a C-Sec officer she was very familiar with “Hey! You keep an eye on this place while I’m gone, okay?” She said,

“What, you mean I’ll actually have to earn my paycheck for a while?” The Turan jokes “Don’t worry the Salarian will be fine, gonna miss you around here though, hopefully whatever this mission the council needs people for won’t take too long…I wonder what could make them so distressed they’d openly ask for help like that? I mean, wouldn't they usually go to the Spectres for this?” He asked “Gotta admit, I almost took a leave of absence to join myself out of curiosity but Letan would have a heart attack if we both left and I’m just that adventurous I guess, just hope whoever, you’re working with has your back,” He said, “But I’ve wasted enough of your time, now get going before you’re late,” He said.

“See ya, Helio,” Elesi said, nodding before she quickly grabbed something quick to eat and after politely turning down a pair of Batarians giving out free Gurgat samples she got a Grunnien roast sandwich from some her favorite restaurant which just so happened to be run by Krogan, luckily it wasn’t the lunch rush as things tended to get…crazy at that time to say the least. She took her sandwich and made her way to the rapid transit that took her to where the elevator was. She pressed the button and waited for it to open. Stepping inside she took the ride down to decompress a bit, taking some calming breaths and said a prayer “Kalahira, please watch over this one, she is stupid and probably going to get herself killed,” She said quickly before the doors opened and she made her way inside of the designated meeting area of hanger 001, seeing that she was rather early, scanning the hanger she could only see about two people there at the moment who seemed to be having a conversation at the moment and she didn’t want to be rude and interrupt and yet…she also felt awkward standing over by herself so she found some place to sit and eat her sandwich.

An Asari and a human…he looked like he was Alliance…was he here because the broadcast or officially? She was starting to think that this might have been more serious than she originally thought…then again that probably should have clicked a long time ago.

The smell of smoke and cheap booze wafted through the air of the run-down bar, the dim glow of neon lights flickering now and then to show the shady place of business barely filled with an even shadier crowd of individuals, the mood glum and filled with hidden sins and agendas. Sitting at the bar was a lone human with a scar across the bridge of his nose, sipping at his cheap but overpriced glass of neon-colored booze. His expression pinched in distaste after another sip of his drink, glancing up behind the bar at the owner, a Krogan named Ferax. "After all these years you still sell piss for crazy prices Fer," Butcher muttered as he swirled his cheap booze in a circular motion, the neon liquid swishing about and spilling a bit on the bar he leaned on. The Krogan glanced over as he poured a few drinks for other bar-goers, a piercing glare aimed at Butcher as a scowl came to his heavily scarred face.

"Like I'd give you any of my good products. I don't waste quality on bums like you," Ferax replied, earning an amused scoff from Butcher as he leaned further on the counter, resting his head in the palm of his hand.

"I don't think even bums want this stuff," he smirked before downing the rest of his drink, hissing as the cheap booze burned down all the way. "Luckily for you, I have a generous heart and wanted to make you feel better about yourself and this shithole of a bar," he said, making the Krogan bark in a heavy laugh.

"Good to see you're still the little shit in need of a shot to the mouth," the Krogan chuckled deeply with a wiry smirk before leaning on the bar to face him. "Last I heard bout you though, you retired young, living out on some backwaters planet picking flowers and living the quiet life," he said, a curious glint in his red eye. Butcher smirked and glanced away, shrugging as he leaned back on his stool.

"Not entirely wrong there, though the flower bit is far-fetched. More like shooting vermin and imprinting my ass on a few chairs," Butcher replied, rubbing the hair on his chin, a fond look in his eye before looking back to Ferax. "It was a nice change of pace from the usual gig," he said with a grin. Ferax huffed and crossed his arms.

"So why are you here then? You were never fond of the Citadel, or the Alliance so I know you aren't here on vacation," Ferax muttered, his red eyes narrowing at Butcher. "Back to work?" he questioned, making Butcher's grin grow as he nudged his head to the side in a half-assed shrug.

"Something like that," he answered, staring back at the Krogan, a moment of silence hanging over the two as a silent exchange happened between the two ex-pirates. Soon a snort left Ferax before he reached behind the bar and pulled out two clean glasses. A smirk came to Butcher's face as he watched Ferax pull out a fancy-looking bottle and pour a dark brown liquor into both glasses. He took the glass and met Ferax's hard gaze. The two raised their glasses to each other before downing their drinks in one go. Butch winced and hissed, the burn of the high-end booze leaving a satisfying taste on his tongue and chuckling as he rose from his stool. "Thanks for the drink, Fer," he said, patting the bar as he began to walk away to the exit.

"Good luck brother," Ferax muttered as he watched him leave. Butcher smirked slightly, just able to hear him as he left.

(Meanwhile at another part of the Citadel)

A nervous but excited shudder ran through Dexter as he stood amongst the moving crowds, the daily bustling lives of those going about their day surging all around him. It had been overwhelming at first to be in such a drastic change of environment from his home, but a fascinated and curious look in his eye couldn't help but take everything in. With so many faces, races, heights, and looks, Dexter felt his mind grow a bit jumbled for a moment. However, a sense of nervousness helped keep him grounded, knowing he was here against his father's wishes and knowing he barely understood how the real world works, the privileged and sheltered life he's lived up until now showing as he stood amongst the surging crowd of people. He took a moment to gather his thoughts, reminding himself silently that he was here for a good purpose. To help others, to expand his mind to the world, and to share his talents with those who needed them. This was his chance to make his own path.

Dexter was brought out of his thoughts though as he felt someone tap his shoulder, making him jump and turn around to face a human C-sec officer. "Oh! Uh, hello officer. I'm sorry was I in the way? I'll-" The C-sec officer held up a hand with an amused smirk spreading on his aged face.

"Relax kid, I just noticed you seemed lost and if you needed directions," the old officer assured him with a smile. Dexter arched his brows up a bit, not expecting the friendly offer to help, but laughed awkwardly.

"O-oh, I suppose I must seem like a fish out of water, huh?" Dexter said with a sheepish smile before clearing his throat. "Well, can I have some directions to Hanger Bay 01? I'm due for a meeting being conducted by the Council, or at least representatives of the Council. I doubt anyone big one comes down to themselves. Though I suppose it's not completely out of the ordinary considering the circumstances. But then again that would bring to question what-" Before he could continue on the old C-sec officer held up his hands to quell Dexter's ramblings.

"Kid, kid relax, I understand," the officer said with a light chuckle before sighing, placing hands on his hips as he looked the young man up and down. "So, you're attending whatever is going on in the hanger bay eh?" the old officer mused aloud with a curious eye. Dexter swallowed nervously, wondering if he had said too much.

"Um, yes sir. I..." he trailed off for a minute, glancing around uncertainty before leaning into a whisper. "Perhaps I shouldn't go talking so loudly about such a thing," he whispered, making the officer chuckle and pat his shoulder.

"It's fine, most folk here are too busy with their own lives to care about your business," he assured him before nudging his head in the direction behind Dexter. "As for the Hanger Bay, keep heading that way and take a right up those stairs. There'll be an elevator that will take you straight there," he directed him as he crossed his arms with a sigh. "I'm not sure what the business is with this meeting, too much for my pay grade to care, but it sure like it involves something dangerous. Keep safe kid, and good luck with whatever it is," the officer said with a nod, giving another firm pat on Dexter's shoulder, making the younger man stumble a bit. Dexter watched the old officer walk away, slipping into the surging crowds and disappearing. He smiled a bit, grateful for the stranger's help, but a creeping tingle of anxiety crawled up his neck from his warning. Dangerous... Being sheltered for his whole life has spared Dexter from many dangers, but now here he was, walking into something into an unknown journey of dangers.

He took a long breath, trying to push it out of his running mind, and turned in the direction the officer pointed him in. He's come this far, there was no going back now. He proceeded to walk through the crowds towards his goal and fresh path in life.

Dexter let out a small breath, his hands patting the side of his pants nervously as he rode the elevator down to the hanger. His eyes tried to remain forward, but the smoke wafting in his view made him flick his gaze over to a large and gruff-looking man with a scar across the bridge of his nose. The tall man had a neutral expression, his sharp eyes directed forward as he took a drag of his cigarette. Dexter swallowed nervously before coughing slightly in his fist, inching away a bit but not having all that much space to get distance from the man's swirling smoke. Dexter wanted to politely ask the man to put it out, but he found his voice caught in his throat as the man glanced his way, an intimidating aura surrounding him. Dexter cleared his throat and laughed awkwardly. "So... here for the meeting too?" he simply asks with a sheepish smile.

Butcher arched a brow, taking another drag off his cigarette as he looked down at the young man. There was no doubt in his mind, this was the kid he's been sent to protect. Looking at him now, Butcher understood why Dexter's father wanted him to come along with his son for protection. After a moment he realized he had been staring for a tad too long, noticing the young man grow more nervous from Butcher's silent gaze. "Yeah, Butcher," he introduced himself, holding out a hand in greeting.

Dexter looked at the hand before taking it, shaking it with a smile and nod. "Dexter Athans, nice to meet you," he said politely, feeling a bit of relief to at least get Butcher's name. After that slight exchange, silence descended onto the elevator between the two, both looking away awkwardly as the both of them didn't know what to say. Thankfully the silent and awkward ride on the elevator came to a quick in, and both were silently thankful to exit the elevator and enter Hanger Bay 01. Butcher flicked his cigarette to the floor and stomped it out as he walked deeper into the area, noticing barely anyone had arrived yet. He sighed and took a seat atop a crate in the center of the hanger bay, leaning back with a small frown, not too thrilled about having to wait.

Meanwhile, Dexter looked about the hanger bay and spotted two individuals speaking, a human and an Asari conversing on one side of the room. Dexter wanted to approach but didn't want to interrupt their conversation. He then looked to Butcher and saw that a sour look had come to the man's face as he sparked up another cigarette. Probably best to leave the man alone for now. Soon his gaze came onto a lone Drell sitting alone and eating a sandwich. She wasn't talking to anyone, but she was eating... after a moment of debating he decided to approach. He cleared his throat and put on his best polite smile. "Um, excuse me? I don't mean to interrupt you and your sandwich, and this may seem like an obvious question, but this is the meeting place designated by the Council, yes?" he asked his polite smile still present, unaware of the curious glances directed at him by Butcher as he smoked on his cigarette.

Elesi was enjoying her sandwich or at least half of it when two more people arrived. One was clearly a rough customer, or at the very least seemed to know what he was doing, the other looked even more out of place than she did or at the very least he was real twitchy. She laughed a little at his comment though “I don’t think you can interrupt a sandwich, but I think I get the gist of what you were trying to say,” She said, wrapping up the half of the sandwich she was eating and putting it into the bag “And to answer your question, yeah this is definitely the meeting place,” Elesi answered.

“My name Elesi Liat and I’m a doctor, I figure whatever is going on here, medics would be greatly appreciated,” She said, not finding it appropriate to go into detail about why she was ultimately there to begin with. However, she was…curious, what was this all about.

Elesi, looked down into her lap, a hint of guilt in her golden eyes. She hadn’t told her girlfriend she was coming here. I mean she was going to tell her…eventually, but if she told her beforehand she’d try to stop her and she really needed to go on this mission, besides they hadn’t been dating for that long. Not that the relationship didn’t mean anything to her, of course it did but it was a short amount of time to be confiding her deepest problems with her. I mean why should she bother her with the fact that her mom was seriously ill? Who tells the person they’re dating they need a ridiculous amount of money that neither one of them could possibly ever dream of having? It would sound like she was expecting a handout and sure that’d be fine for a relationship of years, but not for the span of theirs. She couldn’t afford to be stopped and it would be selfish of her to ask so, she needed to go…she’d tell her and hopefully she wouldn’t be too mad.

She took a deep breath and looked back up at Dexter “So, I’m assuming you’re here for the same meeting since you’re asking right?” She asked.

In a Citadel Apartment:

Seira sat at the small table in her apartment, her M-29 Incisor disassembled and laid out meticulously beside her. In her hand, she absently held a spoon, stirring a half-eaten bowl of BlastOhs cereal. The bright, sugary loops floated lazily in the milk, their vibrant colors clashing with the otherwise sterile and minimalistic surroundings of her home. The room was clean, almost clinical, save for the occasional sign of her gear—a helmet on the counter, a stack of dismantled tech in the corner.

She glanced up at the console perched on her wall, where a blinking message icon hovered. The words "Test Results Available" flashed quietly in the background, but Seira ignored it for now, her focus on the incoming broadcast playing on the vid screen instead. The Council’s message was grainy, but the urgency was clear. They were recruiting anyone with skills, anyone who could help, and the reward—more credits than she'd ever seen in one place—caught her attention as she stirred another rotation around the bowl.

She chewed slowly, her eyes narrowing as the Council representative spoke. It wasn’t just the credits. Something was wrong. Open recruitment wasn’t their style. They had Spectres for this sort of thing. The message crackled slightly, and Seira’s fingers tightened around the spoon. This wasn’t just a mission—it was a sign that something had gone out of control, something big enough for the Council to panic.

She set the spoon down, the clink of metal against the bowl punctuating the silence that followed the broadcast. Seira stared at the screen for a moment longer, then turned her head slightly, her eyes flicking to the still-blinking message on her console: Test Results Available. Her mouth and mandibles pressed tightly before she finally stood, abandoning the half-finished cereal, and began putting her rifle back together. There was a job to do…

In Hanger Bay 01:

Seira had been watching for some time, her presence unnoticed as she crouched among the shadows of the maintenance rafters high above the hangar floor. She’d arrived early, slipping in before most of the others, preferring the vantage point. From up there, she could see everything— the young man, clearly out of his element, speaking nervously to the Drell woman who calmly ate her sandwich. The rough-looking human, Butcher, sitting on a crate, cigarette smoke swirling lazily around his head as he sized up the situation in silence. An Asari had entered earlier, introducing herself with a casual ease to another human.

With practiced silence, she descended, sliding down one of the metal beams until her boots touched the ground softly, the muted sound blending with the low hum of the hangar. The faint metallic sheen of her pale face plate caught the dim light for a second, a ghostly contrast against the stark white paint that framed her sharp features. A brief glance flicked between the faces, taking stock of them—calm, efficient, as if calculating exactly what roles each of them might play. She offered a faint nod, acknowledging them with a simple gesture before she spoke.

"Seems the Council’s feeling desperate," she said, her voice low, smooth, and edged with just a trace of dry amusement. "Open recruitment. High rewards. Either they’ve run out of Spectres... or the Spectres aren’t enough for this." Her gaze lingered on each of them for a moment, as if weighing the implications of her own words, before she shifted slightly and crossed her arms, the subtle glint of her rifle visible on her back.

With the same calm deliberation that had marked her arrival, she leaned back slightly against one of the crates, her posture relaxed but still alert, ready. "Whatever this is, it’s big. Bigger than they’re willing to say." Her voice softened just a touch, almost as if she were sharing an inside joke with a group of old friends. "Guess we’ll see soon enough if we’re getting in over our heads... or if we’re exactly what they need."

Nisanyzia "Nessa" T'Sorus
tumblr_ovii6wwoGj1ri4gm2o1_1280.jpg

The evening before
Nessa sat behind a computer console in and empty tech forensic lab with most of the lights turned off, working through some data she recovered during the examination of a crime scene. Well, more accurately, she was looking over data she stole a couple of days ago when she broke in to a business she suspected on being involved in smuggling contraband into the Citadel. This was not even her console, she was a detective not a lab geek, but the owner was an accommodating friend and Nessa had some knowledge with decryption and steganography. Her taking hands-on approach in gathering and handling evidence tended to be a lot quicker than waiting on such necessities as warrants and waiting for her case to get through the large backlog of evidence the poor lab has to deal with. She had her ways to return the data back into a proper chain of custody so it can get through court.

Maybe she did it more than just to speed up the sluggish justice system. Maybe she missed the old days when she was on the other side of the law, the thrill of working petty limitation, being creative in "problem-solving" that would allow her and her clients to make it to payday without being caught. Solving a case, gathering evidence and getting away with in court was just the ultimate thrill for her these days. Even that she had to cut back significantly as her captain was riding her on working to code. She had become a bit domesticated since the end of the war. Rather than travelling the galaxy from one client or another, she had a permanent home in the citadel. Danger of getting shot at was rare even as a detective, she had only been in a gun fight twice in the past year. Hell, she even managed to get a steady girlfriend... Goddess, she was settling, and she was nowhere near her Matron years. It was only 50 years earlier, she would laugh at her current self. The main problem being she feared she was actually liking the life of law-abiding citizen. Well... Near to one.

"There we go." She said excitedly as an attempt to decrypt the data finally succeeded and now she was looking with a folder of business sensitive documents. She began to skim through it, there was software that collate and scan the data, but where was the fun in that. Also, the software need a licence which would log credentials and date its use. She scanned through manifest and communication records. Most of it seemed standard if a name did not keep coming up "Thaddeus Rexa" which was uncomfortably familiar. It was the alias of a gang boss she had a bad history with and by the look of it he was high ranking in the company. It could be proof the company was a front for some criminal syndicate, or could be a coincidence. She had learned to never assume the latter, however much she would have liked it not to be the former. She groaned but pushed forward. Another word kept coming up "Nexus Project". It kept coming up and it seemed to be important to Rexa and the company. Got the seemed obsessed with it, and it seemed they were taking great pains to keep it a secret.

Nexus... The answer hit her as she sat back and opened her omni tool and looked through her C-Sec Emails, reaching for a certain call of volunteers. Rumour in her station was something called the Nexus was involved but it was too classified to confirm. Coincidence? Maybe, but it was at least worth a look right?

Present day
It had been a surprise to many at the station when she announced she would answer the call of Council for volunteers. It had been last minute but she figured for many at the station particularly her long-suffering captain that he was relieved to see her go. Regardless, Nessa was taking a risk, she was volunteering for something that might not be relevant to the case and maybe puts her to something she had no care to be involved. Part of her was excitement, for the council to call for support it might be big and likely filled with the excitement she was missing. She could attend the meeting and see what it was about. She could just leave if it was nothing.

As she walked to the hall towards the hanger bay, it occured to her she might be taking part in an operation, and she had not spoken to Elisi about it yet. She raised her omnitool to send a message, but she hesitated. Elisi might not be happy with the short notice and she would only try to persuade her not go and worry right. Though just disappearing would not cause any less worry she supposed. She went to type when she head conversation coming from nearby which distracted her, some of the voices sounded familiar. She lowered her omnitool and walked further towards the meeting point.

As Yuzu sat there on there on the shipping crate waiting for any others that had accepted the Council's request for help to arrive, he began to run an internal diagnostic on his mask and the conditions of it, the last thing he needed was for its filtering system or the medicine to stop flowing correctly. Raising his Omni-tool, he swiped left to right consistently, verifying the dosage of the medicine flowing through the mask, making sure the filter did not require to be changed yet, and the electronics were all functioning normally. Just as he finished the last of his checkup, the sound of the Hanger's metallic doors opening had him raise his head to watch as to how an Asari had entered, as she approached him, she openly greeted him by introducing herself and stating the obvious that she was here for the same reason anyone would be coming here.

For a few passing moments, Yuzu kept silent, pondering on whether or not he should bother answering the woman as for all he knew she could've been a pirate or some sort of hacker. While he had no ill will against pirates or criminals in general, he had come across his fair share of them on several previous missions, if one wasn't careful, so much as speaking to one could end up causing you to be in debt for millions of credits if they could get your voice recorded. "Yuzu." Deciding to finally speak up and reveal his first name only for security purposes, Yuzu opted to speak up only because if this mission were to require teamwork amongst random individuals, then distrust and suspicion would make the mission all that much more difficult; another fact he learned during other previous missions while working for the Alliance.

"Whatever it is, its odd how the Council is enlisting not simply just enlisting the help of the Alliance but also openly recruiting anyone for whatever this is." Speaking aloud so that Ve’Nalia could hear him and comment if she wished.

Soon enough, the door to the hanger once again opened, this time it had been a female Drell. Rather than approach the duo, she made her way to a separate spot to begin eating what appeared to had been a sandwich. Not long after the Drell had entered, two others came through the hanger bay doors, this time it was two human males. One appeared much older than the other, almost as though he were some sort of veteran while the other nearly reminded him of the fresh recruits that decided to join the Alliance first thing after they graduated high school. The sight of this had Yuzu thinking, was the Council going to recruit/hire anyone and of any age for this mission, would there be children joining in hopes of making some credits. The thought of fighting alongside children and seeing them possibly get killed made Yuzu shudder, if that were the case, he wasn't about to stand by quietly and allow it to happen when the time came.

The next to make an appearance was from an unexpected location, as silent as the Turian was, the sound of her dropping from the metal beam would still make even the slightest bit of noise, noise that Alliance members that underwent N-School would have to detect if they wanted to graduate. Though, rather than turn to face the individual, Yuzu kept his back turned to them as they also spoke what everyone was thinking. The Spectres are the Council's ace in the hole and yet rather than just calling for them, they were willing to recruit a bunch of random people, were they just going to use them like cannon fodder and have their Spectres take care of the rest. Thoughts roamed through Yuzu's head on all the different possibilities and reasons as to this whole meeting, his thoughts were all so jumbled to the point that he hadn't even realized if anyone else had come through the hanger bay doors.

---

Minutes passed and while Yuzu was lost in thought, the sudden sounds of the whirling sounds of a skycar approaching from the large opening of the hanger caused him to snap out of his trance-like state only to turn his gaze toward the noise. A large white skycar, a C-111 Skyline Shuttle to be exact, had arrived at the Hanger. Soon after, two other black skycars, Cision Dauntlesses came in right behind the first. As the three vehicles came in, all three slowly began to descend with the low hissing sounds of the engines coming to a halt. Once all three had landed, the two black skycar doors swung open upwards to reveal members of C-Sec dressed from head to toe in their combat gear with standard issue assault rifles on hand. There were eight of them in total, four in each skycar, all eight officers stood beside the singular larger vessel in silence before the doors on either side of the skycar opened and stepped out four of the five members of the Council.

The Asari Councilor, Liranya T'Vera. The male Turian Councilor, Gavon Kryik. The male Salarian, Veklin Jorassi. The female Korgan Councilor, Braska Thorne. All that was missing was the human Councilor, Adrian Holt.

As the four members of the Council stepped out from their vessel, they all approached and stood side by side. The Turian Councilor gazing left to right to see just who had arrived for the meeting. "Is this all? No one else enlisted?" As he questioned aloud to no one specifically, the male Salarian was the next to speak up, continuing his colleagues comment. "Maybe we should've been more detailed in our message." The tone in his voice clearly showed concern and doubtfulness before the next to speak was the Asari Councilor. "No. We cannot risk an uproar amongst the public knowing about the situation. Our message was clear enough. Give it time, maybe some are late. We did send the message throughout the Galaxy. We cannot expect even the most degenerates to be on time." As she spoke, the Korgan Councilor was mostly silent as she eyed each of the individuals within the hanger. As a Korgan, she could determine the strength of an individual at times just by looking at a person. Since Korgans were a warrior race, they had a keen eye for seeing strength in a person just by looking at how they stood, how they walked and even the look in their eyes. "We should be fine. Even if more come, these people are all very strong. They have a fire in their eyes, each one of them." After she spoke, her fellow Councilors turned to her in silence, while they still had their doubts, they trusted their Korgan colleagues words before nodding.

The first to step forward moments after the Councilors spoke amongst themselves was the Asari Councilor, Liranya T'Vera. Clearing her throat, she gave a slight nod as her signs to show thanks before speaking. "Thank you all for coming. I understand you all must be very confused and wondering why we have sent out a message throughout the galaxy for recruitment about a specific mission. To be honest, neither myself nor any of the other Councilors believed that a situation like this would ever occur either...but we are desperate. You see, a new threat has risen from the darkest depths of space. A threat that far even outweighs the power of the Reapers themselves--"

During the midst of her words, the Turian Councilor stepped forward to continue the conversation. "We're sure you're all wondering why we simply do not just send out the Spectres to do this." Stopping midsentence, he the older Turian exhaled a deep sigh before lowering his head. "Because...we've already tried."

Speaking in a near defeated tone of voice, the Salarian Councilor soon stepped forward to begin speaking. "That is why we sent out the message. Spectres are the elite and the right hand of the Council. If they cannot deal with this threat, we have no other choice but to send for help. We did not publicly say what this threat is because we did not want to possibly put the public into a state of panic...so we believed that if we sent out a vague message, we could gather the strongest of willed individuals to this fight." Just as the Salarian paused in the middle of his words, he'd snap his fingers as the energy field that was at the back of the hanger where the skycars came through began to flicker until it had become a video recording.

The video recording was that of the events that happened on Eden Prime. It was footage from a security camera so the quality was not perfect but it was visible enough to see everything that had been going on. During the footage, the sky had been a sickly colored green and small yellow spores floated through the air. Sounds of gunfire could be heard in the distance as human civilians were seemingly running away from something. As the footage became too static to see, it switched to another camera at a different human colony. This one showed what looked like a deformed human monstrosity was tearing apart other humans limb from limb only for said humans to before writhing, twisting and turning into grotesque abominations of a mixture of both organic and synthetic. Mere seconds later, the footage of all the security cameras began to go completely static with the last thing heard through the static being 'Unification' in a distorted groggily voice.

After the footage had ended and the energy wall had returned, the Korgan Councilor stepped forward. "I understand if any of you wish to opt out now. No one can blame you. We cannot guarantee your survival in this. All we can say is that if this threat is not dealt with immediately, then for all we know...the Galaxy will be doomed forever. It will be the end of all life for every future generation. There will be no continuation, this is not a cycle as the Reapers attempted with our races during the last war. This is the end, of everything as we know it."

Elesi watched the footage, horrified. She knew whatever it was going to be it was going to be serious, but this? Part of her wondered if she could be any help here and the other part said, how could she not help here? It was no longer just about needing the money at this point.

“Kalahira…why can’t Eden Prime catch a break?” She said mostly to herself but out loud so that anyone could have heard it. According to what history told them Eden Prime was the start of the Reaper war even if the council at the time didn’t want to admit it until it was too late. However, these members of the council seemed like they were more vigilant than the council of old and the Asari councilor had clearly learned her lesson from the time of the Reaper war.

She stood up from where she was sitting and stepped forward towards the council “Um, excuse me. If I may…maybe this isn’t such a bad thing, having so few people I mean,” She said “I know I’m just a doctor, but maybe sending and army at this threat wasn’t the best idea, at least not at this stage,” She said “I am truly sorry for the lives that were lost and I won’t pretend knowing that all the Spectres failed does not concern me, but it’s pretty clear to me that what we need is information. We know little to nothing about this enemy therefore we have little to no chance of defeating it…yet,” She said, making sure not to discourage people “But if we can figure out more about it then, we can beat them,” She said.

“This…threat may be worse than that of the Reapers but unlike then, you’re taking it seriously now, unlike the council of old…no offense T’Vera, you didn’t wait until the threat was in our faces and at our doorsteps so…if we all cooperate, assuming everyone here wants to stay…maybe we can full off another miracle and maybe come out ahead of it this time,” She explained.

Ve’Nalia smiled as he actually answered her, but he seemed defensive. She supposed it only made sense given he didn’t know her, still it was kinda funny to think someone might believe she was a criminal or a pirate of some kind.

When the council entered, she immediately noticed that there were only 4 of them but she was just surprised that they actually came in person and not just some hologram. As they explained what was going on, showing them the footage, she couldn’t help but notice that same odd noise she heard over the coms when she was on her call with Isezze “Damn it Izzy, where the hell are you,” She whispered to herself. When Drell Doctor stepped forward to speak her mind…she had to admit, the girl had a point so once she was done speaking her peace she spoke hers.

“Okay so…I won’t lie and say that knowing that…all the Spectres failing isn’t…concerning and given the stories my mother told me about the Reaper war…double yikes right off the bat, but personal reasons aside…I can’t very well turn my back on this nightmare fuel can I?” She asked, crossing her arms. “Gotta admit, I wasn’t actually expecting you to show up here in person, guard detail or not which just proves all the more how serious this is…you wanted us to see your sincerity and hologram would have been to impersonal, wouldn’t have driven the message home on how…unbelivable fucked things are, but it’s not like I can go anywhere to escape this unless that Mass Relay to Andromeda has been finished by chance?” She asked, mostly joking, of course she wouldn’t actually leave, but comedy was a coping mechanism.

“So, that being said I’m assuming we’re getting some kind of support for this, I mean you can’t just expect a bunch of randos to pull off what your well backed Spectres couldn’t on…whatever random connections and resources we have?” She asked.

Nessa entered just the council's sky car was approaching the hanger. Her own entrance seemed to have gone unnoticed momentarily, which was something she did not mind, truly. Considering she might slip out if the job did not relate to her investigation, it was best she could slip out before she spoke to anyone. Less pressure from other to stay. She approached close to the gathered group but did not speak up, placing her hands behind her back and scanned the group that was already there.

Here fell first to one of the humans siting the corner smoking, he seemed familiar, but he could not place him. She repositioned slightly to get a closer look at his face. That scar in the bridge of his nose... However, soon she heard a voice which made here drop her curiosity and turn quickly to the source to the rather obvious lone drell close to the human eating. Was that Elisi?! Her eyes widened in surprise. What the hell was she doing here? Did she volunteer for the call to action?! What the hell! She told nothing about to her! The obvious fact that Nessa did not exactly speak to her in turn did not cross her mind either. Instinctively, she moved to approach Elisi and confront her, but the council stepping up to them and bigging to brief them made her pause.

She tried to listen as moved slowly and carefully closer to Elisi without being noticed. However, once more she had paused as she noticed the displayed video: She had seen many dark things in her 200 years of life, but that was particularly sickening to see what was happening to the humans. She had to pause and look away momentarily, unable to take the carnage. Goddess, Elisi was right about the humans on Eden Prime. The really did not catch a break. However, was it her problem? Did she want to go after a galaxy threat again? Well, Elisi was going, and she was just a civilian, she could bare to imagine whatever that creature was going after her too. Also, selfishly, she felt the tingle of excitement in the prospects of excitement once more.

"Does this relate to the Reapers?" She asked, finally making her presence known to the group. It was an obvious question to ask, the creatures did not quite the same aesthetic as the usual repears but could see the familiarities for those who fought in the was would be painful aware off.

Seira listened intently as the Councilors laid out the stakes, the gravity of their words settling over the hangar like a heavy fog. The footage from Eden Prime had shown her enough—whatever this new threat was, it couldn’t be ignored. The distorted voice and the twisted abominations of flesh and machine all confirmed what she had suspected: the galaxy was on the brink of something far worse than any of them could fully comprehend.

When the Krogan Councilor allowed them to opt-out, Seira’s posture remained unchanged, and her gaze was unwavering. The thought of leaving hadn’t even crossed her mind. This wasn’t just another job or some side mission—it was the kind of threat that wouldn’t leave anyone untouched if it wasn’t stopped. Some of the others assembled were bringing up valid questions, but regardless of the Councilors answers, she knew where she stood on the matter.

Stepping forward slightly from where she’d been leaning against a crate, Seira spoke, her voice calm but firm. “I’ve seen enough to know there’s no walking away from this. Whatever this is, it will not stop on its own, and I’m not one for waiting around while the galaxy burns. I’m in.” With a few presses and slides against the screen of her omni-tool, she forwarded her information to them, codename: Ghost. Any of her previous engagements on tasks dispatched by the Council before this moment had been handled through discrete back-channels and unofficial venues for contract work. Her freelance work had been carefully separated from her identity for decades - until now. What was there left to lose at this point?

Nothing. Her own voice answered internally.

Anyone who participated in any of those dispatches or missions through the Citadel, law enforcement, or militaries of the allied species would recognize her portfolio, which showcases her proficiency in cyberwarfare, infiltration, intelligence, and clean termination of threats when assassination was an unfortunate and necessary excess.

Her words hung in the air momentarily as she glanced between the Councilors and the others assembled, reading their reactions, assessing who might stay and who might consider leaving. The decision for her, however, had already been made. There was no hesitation in her tone, no second thoughts. She was all in.

"Eden Prime?" A voice from the back of the crowd spoke up, "That video was from Eden Prime?" It was hard to describe the emotions rocketing through those words, not quite panic, but something close. The voice without a doubt would grab a couple gazes to two late comers. They had arrived as the council started speaking and not wanting to interrupt, keep themselves quiet. But that question has been pulled from the depths of her soul before Eve could bite her tongue. People ripping each other apart, the clash of flesh and synthetic, her eyes were wide until a hand laid upon her shoulder, giving it a squeeze. The krogan that towered over her managed to hide his worry easier, but there was still something unsettled about his features. Eve glanced up at him, taking a deep breath as her shoulders squared back up, her eyes meeting the gaze of the councilors. "The Alliance research vessel S.S. Cairo was last orbiting Eden Prime, but they went radio silent. Has the council received any other word from it?" Eve asked.

The krogan next to her let out a huff. 1000001148.jpg
"Might not be good news if them specters all kicked it," He grumbled. His voice sounded like gravel, his age hidden well by his form but that was a dead give away. His bright orange eyes seemed to be sizing everyone in front of them up, he was taking notes but they probably didn't amount to much. He'd gotten better at not judging the smaller, weaker races over the years, but if the best of the best failed... they'd have to be better than the best, and that didn't come side by side with youth. Even that asari looked young. These are all kids, fresh faces that had barley been weaned, but the council knew best huh? He only looked away from those uptight bastards when the asari in question, asking if this had anything to do with the reapers. "Look at them fuckin' things, of course they do. Nothing else they could be related to."

Eve glanced up at him again, pursing her lips. He'd been there, during the war. The stories he'd told her, the number of documentaries and books and any other historical gathering he'd (begrudgingly) helped with outnumbered what she could remember. Sarbok would know what he's talking about. It also meant that his participation in this would be hanging on by a thread. "You're sending us to get slaughtered, ya' know that right?" He asked, staring at the councilors. "Not much of a problem for people with nothing to lose, but might be an issue for the rest of us."

"Gramps, you know the Cairo is-"

"Probably crawling with those things," He spoke, looking down to Eve again. Her brows were furrowed, her eyes burned, her jaw was clenched tight. He let out a sigh, rolling his stuff shoulders. "Fine. Fine, guess we're in."

Dexter's brows rose slightly in surprise as the Elesi told him she was a doctor, his smile growing somewhat in excitement to meet someone else in the medical field. He may not have been an 'official' doctor yet, but Dexter has spent most of his life surrounded by medical knowledge and experts, such as his father. Perhaps Elesi would be able to teach him new methods of medical aid! A glint of eagerness flashed in his eyes before blinking once, being brought out of his thoughts as she questioned his reason for being here. "O-oh, yes, I am! My name is Dexter, and I am pleased to meet you! And actually, I am-" he was cut off though as his attention was pulled away from a new face, a Turian who seemingly came out of nowhere. As she spoke and pointed out the Council's apparent desperation for outside assistance and just how big this really was going to be. Dexter swallowed a few nerves, the Turian's words bringing new thoughts to his mind. Any job from the Council would be important, but the fact they were asking them here and not Spectres here brought new worries to him.

Meanwhile, towards the center of the room, Butcher exhaled a thin cloud of smoke from his nose, flicking some of the ashes of his cigarette onto the bay's floor. His narrowed gaze was on the Turian at the moment, her words not bothering him too much but her sudden and quiet appearance annoying him. He never liked the sneaky types, finding those skilled in stealth a pain to work with. Butcher bit his tongue though and took another drag from his cigarette, glancing away with a bored look. It was always a pain waiting for others. To his relief though, after some time passed, the people who called them all there finally arrived. He flicked his now cigarette bud away and stood up from his seat on the crate, crossing his arms as the Council members began the briefing. He listened quietly, zoning in and out now and then, but when the recording began to play his attention remained fully on it. No distinct emotion covered his face at the brutal footage, but his sharp eyes narrowed at the grotesque creatures tearing people apart. A slow exhale left his nose, the situation growing more bizarre than he expected. Butcher's instincts were blaring alarms in his head. In any other situation, he'd have dropped the job on the spot, but with a brief flick of his gaze to Dexter who watched the footage in silent horror, Butcher knew he didn't have a choice in the matter. Once the footage ended he rubbed his temple with a low sigh. "Fuck..." was all he muttered as it was clear there was no going back. With an annoyed expression, he pulled out another cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag before blowing out a puff of smoke with a frown.

Dexter let out a slow breath, the footage still racking his nerves while the others began to speak about the details of the mission. Dexter's seen photos or videos of serious injuries, or surgeries before. He's even been present when his father worked on a patient and saw how messy an operation can become. What was on that video... he's never seen such brutal, cruel, and senseless violence. And the way the killed humans writhed and changed into those things. Dexter rubbed his face, his mind whirling with questions and the brutal images he just witnessed. A vile and chilling fear slithered around his heart, the idea of going towards these horrible things instead of away making him swallow in nervousness. He wanted to turn away, to go back home and apologize to his father for being so reckless... but the images of the fleeing people remained sealed in his mind as they were hunted down and slaughtered. He wanted to reach into that video and pull them out of that nightmare. To heal their wounds, comfort them, shield them. Looking around, Dexter saw the look in the other's eyes, the tone in their voices. For whatever reasons they had, they were prepared to take the mission. The determination and resolve were practically physical to him. Swallowing nervously as he took a step forward, holding up a hand to the council members. "W-when can we leave? And will we be given the proper equipment to handle whatever this is? From the footage, it seemed like this was some type of infection, so having the best at our disposal would help combat whatever this is more effectively. Possibly help any survivors as well," Dexter said, his voice nervous and uncertain at first, but becoming more steady toward the end.

Butcher kept his frown as he flicked some ash from his cigarette, glancing at Dexter for a moment as he spoke and holding back a groan. A small part of him had hoped the kid would chicken out and leave, giving him an excuse to leave as well, but now it was set in stone. Before he could take another drag he felt a set of eyes on him. His sharp gaze flicked to an Asari, but by the time he set his eyes on her, she was already looking away. A deeper frown came to his face as he looked at her. For some odd reason, she looked familiar. Usually, any familiar face he came across he'd have the urge to put a hole in it, but not this one. Soon it clicked in his head, remembering the Asari from so long ago in his past days when he was still a pirate. No, it couldn't be... Soon he realized he had been staring for too long and cleared his throat, his omni-tool notifying him from the Turian forwarded information to the group. He looked through the information with a frown, deciding to find an answer to his question about the Asari later. "Ghost..." he muttered, looking up to the Turian with an arched brow. He felt like that name rang a few bells, but in his past work, he's been around plenty of folks with similar code names. His attention was once again pulled away as two new faces joined their merry group. A human and a Krogan. A sharp, toothy smirk came to Butcher's face as he saw the Krogan, having fought with plenty in the past and knowing it was always good to have at least one on your side. With a long sigh, he looked back to the Council, blowing a puff of smoke their way as he tilted his head lazily to the side. "So, the biggest question remains unanswered. How much are we getting paid? And I don't want no estimate, I want an actual number," he said with a stern tone as he took another drag from his cigarette.

  • Ve’Nalia just sat back and listened to what everyone else had to say, after all she’s said her peace. Although she was curious as to why the human councilor wasn’t present. When the human who arrived with the Krogan mentioned a ship was orbiting Eden Prime, she could only assume they knew someone on board, maybe even the entire crew…it made her think of Izzy and she took a deep breath.

“Okay, I’ll be totally upfront about it. I came here initially because my friend is…missing. As you can probably tell I’m pretty young for my species and during this time in our lives, we are driven to wander, to discover and explore, something probably only the Asari councilor and the good C-Sec detective could possibly understand. My friend decided to be mercenary and about a week ago I was on a call with her and it suddenly…cut out, there was this weird noise like interference and I haven’t been able to establish contact with her since,” She said turning on her Omnitool to play a recording of their last conversation, there an odd noise, a noise that would sound very familiar a noise that could be heard in the background of the footage they were recently shown of Eden Prime when suddenly the call cut and that unbearable screech could be heard. She let the screech play for a moment so they could all understand what it sounded like, but she soon turned it off as she just couldn’t stand that sound.

“Unfortunately I think my friend is in the middle of this, I am…optimistically hoping she is okay, but I don’t expect you to care about all of that,” She said “My question is…do you know how far this has spread? Do you know what areas of the galaxy this…infection resides in? Is it coming from the east or are we surrounded?” She asked, trying to gauge if they knew if it was coming from a certain direction or now…maybe then she could try to guess where Izzy might be and more so how bad the problem was at this stage.

As the morning light started to filter into the room, it warmed the skin of the geth sitting there.

It's been a few months since he's been transferred to this body, yet it was still weird, the light warmth the sun gave off was oddly comforting.

He glances over to the clock attached to the wall of the apartment. '4:15' it read.

A quiet sigh escapes from the lips of Ali as he closes the curtain. Even though Ali himself has been up for hours, his precious little angel still needed sleep.

Humans were weird like that, or maybe it was just his little angel. Xavier's thin frame has survived countless beatings and bullets but he's get all whiney and needy if he didn't get sleep.

The other geth hasn't shut up in hours, which at times could make it hard to think, most of the times it was helpful though.

Ali lays back down next to Xavier, pulling the tinier being on top of his chest.

He closed his eyes, content to just listen to the breathing of Xavier, a lot of the units didn't like Xavier, but it wasn't just him that grew attached to Xavier, a few did, none as intensely.

It was 6:35 when he listened to Xavier as they started to stir.

He got off, putting on a pot of coffee as Xavier went to the washroom.

Xavier took an hour to get ready, making Ali worry, he forgot what time the meeting was at, making the unit panic. Unfortunately the other units were of no help, each and every single one giving a different time and response when he asked.

He stood guard, a couple of metres away from Xavier as he watched the human strike up a conversation with a turian man.

His eyes scanned the room, taking in each and every detail, small or big.

His eyes snapped over to where Xavier was standing when he heard the words 'payment' and 'promise' in the same sentence. He opens up his omnipad, pretending like everything was normal when he was running a background check on the turian.

"I don't want you to risk it." Ali says, offering out his arm with the omnipad attached.

On the screen was a file of information on the guy.

Xavier sweetly smiled at Ali. "So?" He asks.

"His track record is not good, I- We don't not trust him." Ali stiffly says.

Ali watched as Xavier went though with the deal, trying his best to not let his annoyance show even as his teeth grind together.

He roughly grabs Xavier's waist, which ended up causing the small human to drop itself to the ground. He drags him over to the council room, not caring if he was a little bit early or not.

He take in the various people in here, muttering a quiet threat as his eyes take in the sight of a few asari. On numerous Xavier has expressed his distaste for Asari and their superiority complexes.

He calmly listens as the council starts to explain things, his mind tuning out the things the others said, giving little to no cares about them.

Nessa listened to the answer by the krogan councillor. Reading between the lines, she well knew what the answer truly was: They did know anything about they were facing. This was no surprising they knew little but she had hoped their top clearance and other resources might have been able to uncover soemthing about what they might be facing. Typical. We were just the next sent to the grindstone hoping to other resolve the problem or delay things for a strong response. It was suicidal, she should have left.

"I don't know. They looked like it but Reapers would be more mechanical." She pointed out, more thinking out loud. "These too on the organic side... Who would have the technology thought if not the repears. There is only one organisation i know that might and they too are extinct."

She paused when she noted Elesi turn to her with pleading eyes and asking to hold of an argument. Attempting to bribe her with a half sandwich. She did like her sandwich but they were exactly going to prevent the confrontation. Even thought it was pointless as because of her, she was stuck in this task for sure. There was no other option to her.

She closed her eyes and sighed. She tried to listen to the reaction of the others and think on what she had heard. She could sense the pity for the fallen and the fear about what they might face. Fear of those they know that might have fell victim. She smirked as she heard one mentions pay. Frankly she was curious about that as well. She figured it was partly the reason why Elisi was there too. Nothing else made sense about her joining.

"Oh and hear I thought all of use were here for the goodness of our hearts. Or at least, at least the continuation of the hearts we care about." She said half jokingly. "Trust me friend, public sector job don't pay great. Might as well find some altruistic reason to do it."

Just like the others, Yuzu had watched through the entirety of the footage from where he had been sitting and just like everyone else, he was in just as much shock as they were. Throughout his years during his intense training and missions he was tasked to do for the Alliance, not even the dirtiest assignment that he had ever taken even closely came to matching what he just witnessed. If anything, the next closest thing to what he was seeing was from footage during the war with the Reapers that every recruit had to watch just to get an idea of what it was like to battle against a galaxy-level threat like that. It was almost like watching a horror film, the colonists bodies deformed and it looked like they were in agonizing pain even after they appeared to be dead. The sight of it had him grit his teeth as he clenched his fists, his nails dug into the palms of his hand till deep indents were made on his skin and eventually even small trickles of blood coated the underside of his nails.

Though, even through the horrific scene of what had been happening to the colonists, there was one thing that did catch Yuzu's attention. Not only did this strange infection affect humans but in the background of the footage, he swore he could see some of the defense turrets looked odd. They had strange pulsing greenish-yellow fleshy pus covering them from the top to their base. Yet, rather than appear deactivated because of it, it was clear that it was still functioning as it turned and twisted around almost organically rather than robotically. Questions roamed Yuzu's head that he hadn't spoken out openly unlike the others in the hanger, if this enemy could also infect their tech than he had to figure out a way to make some sort of countermeasure in his own suit to avoid it affecting his mask's filtering system.

While Yuzu had been lost in his thoughts, the first to speak up throughout the group of individuals in the room just so happened to have been the female Drell. As she spoke up regarding how sending fewer individuals rather than an army had the Korgan Councilor nod her head in approval that she was not the only one to think that with a smaller team, maybe they could accomplish more, afterall, the crew of the Normandy during the Reaper invasion accomplished more than the entirety of the united races of the galaxy could do.
As the Drell spoke toward the Asari Councilor, Liranya was reminded of how her predecessors waited as long as they did to take action against the Reaper threat and by the time the enemy was at their doorstep, their home world of Thessia was nearly destroyed, she would not allow such a thing to happen again while she was Councilor.

As the questions and comments continued on, the next to speak up was one of the Asari. While her first question seemed more rhetorical rather than a genuine question, her next question was one that had been spreading amongst many of the public to this day. The one to answer said question was the male Turian Councilor, Gavon. "The mass relay to Andromeda is currently still under construction. Unfortunately, the progress on the build at the moment has been slowed significantly due to the events on Eden Prime as you all have just seen. Many of those who are working on the completion of the mass relay have loved ones on Eden Prime and with no further communications to the planet's surface, many of them are filing complaints to our desks. Currently, we are attempting to calm the workers by informing them that there have been some technical interference due to the new construction of the mass relay. Though this facade will only last so long, that is why this mission must be a success and the elimination of this new threat must be precise to avoid public uproar." As the Councilor concluded his answer regarding the mass relay, the follow-up answer on the subject of support would be answered by the male Salarian who spoke up right after.

"You will all have access to the same connections and resources as all other Spectres for this mission. Just like Spectres, you are free to make any decision you deem best for the completion of this mission. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the help of heavy military support to your mission. You will have the assistance from the STG, Asari Commandos and Blackwatch. They have all been informed on your mission and to be as discreet as possible to avoid civilian suspicion. As for the Alliance, it appears that we currently already have some special forces on the team already..." As the Salarian spoke toward the end regarding the alliance, he gazed amongst the group that he recognized faces of those in the N7 program, specifically those such as Eve Hollin, and Yuzu Takahashi.

While the Councilors continued to answer questions and any further concerns amongst those that signed up for the task, mumbling voices could be heard by the C-Sec officers that came with the Council. They had their rightful doubts, how could a group of random people taken off the streets and a couple of Alliance soldiers take on a threat like this alone when even the Spectres failed. Their mumbling was quickly silenced when the next question from another Asari in the group spoke up on whether or not this new threat was somehow connected to the Reaper threat. Hearing the thought of it possibly having a connection to the Reapers had some of the C-Sec officers in shock, also waiting on edge for the answer. For a few moments though, silence fell upon the four councilmembers until finally the Asari Councilor spoke to answer said question. "We're not sure. There is currently no evidence showing whether or not this new enemy is because of Reaper tech. Either way, whatever it is...does not change the fact that it must be destroyed."

Moments after the Asari Councilor had answered the question, the next to speak hadn't really asked a question but rather it was a direct confirmation that she was going to join the mission. This time it was a female Turian, as she forwarded her dossier toward the Councilors, each one of them lifted their arms to access their omni-tools only to scan and read through her information. The first to speak up regarding her information was that of the Turian Councilor, whose eyes widened at the records he was receiving from the female. "You're the 'Ghost'? So, you're the vigilante that C-Sec has been telling me about. Who would've thought we'd find you here of all places.." As he spoke, he knew well enough that if this were any other situation that wasn't so grim, he would've ordered for her arrest on the spot. Although she hadn't broken any crimes really, her ways of 'keeping the peace' wasn't by the book and that meant more paperwork for him. Knowing that he needed her help with this mission and any kind of help that would be given, the Korgan Councilor would pat him on the back to try and comfort him regarding the fact that the person that C-Sec had been chasing for so long was right in their grasp but arresting her would only be negatively impacting their end goal for the current mission.

The next question brought an even longer silence, much longer than that of when the question about the connection to the Reapers one was brought up. As the councilmembers turned to stare at one another on whether or not they should answer such a question. Eventually they all nodded with one another as the female Korgan Councilor spoke up. "Unfortunately we currently have no knowledge of the status of the S.S. Cairo. The last we heard from it was the last transmission that was sent to the Alliance as well, after that there has been no word from the vessel.." With that said, silence once more fell upon the four councilmembers, a silence that would somehow feel even moreso when the male Korgan stated the fact that the mission was practically suicidal and that they were sending the team to be slaughtered. What else were they to say to that, they all knew that with such an unknown threat, the possibility of failure was high and the chances of success with such a small team was astronomically low.

Luckily, with another human bringing up yet another question to break the tense silence that fell upon the Hanger, as the male questioned on equipment the Turian Councilor was once again the one to speak up. "Actually, we prepared a surprise for you all just for that...You al might want to step back a few feet." As the male spoke with a hint of pride in his voice, Gavon lifted his omni-tool to his face before speaking into it. "Alright, bring her in." With that single command, the four councilors as well as the members of the C-Sec guards all began to back away toward the exit of the hanger as yellow warning lights began to flash as well as a blaring siren began to echo throughout the hanger to signify that a ship was coming into dock.

In a matter of moments, the loud hissing sounds of multiple engines drawing closer caused Yuzu to narrow his gaze just from the intense wind pressure that was being caused by the arrival of what seemed to be an enormous ship. By the time the nose of the ship had passed through the barrier, the sight of the familiar shape of the nose had Yuzu raise a brow as to where he had seen this design before, it was on the tip of his tongue but yet the name escaped him. As the ship continued to enter the Hanger slowly little by little, the entirety of the hull was coated in a sort of metallic grayish coloring while along the upper side of the hull was a long orange strip that ran alongside it, all the way toward the tail end of the ship. Underneath the orange-colored strip was the word 'VALKYRIE' in big bold black letters and underneath that was 'SSV' in the same black bold coloring.

While the sight of the massive ship finally descending with its landing gear extending out and its docking bay lowering to allow access for entering, Yuzu couldn't help but continue to wonder where he had seen this design before, his suspicion would soon be answered as the Salarian Councilor spoke up to explain the vessel. "This...is the SSV Valkyrie. It is the first of its kind. I'm sure to some of you, this ship may look familiar. That is good, since the ship is nearly a complete one-to-one copy of the renown Normandy SR-2." Just as the councilmember stated the name of the famous ship that led the war against the Reapers that he had read about during basic training, Yuzu quickly hopped off the crate he had been sitting on with widened eyes. "What?! The Normandy?! That thing has been missing ever since the end of the war, how are you going to make a one-to-one copy of that if we still have no idea where the original one is?" As he questioned in near disbelief, the Salarian councilor would direct his attention over towards the human male. "That is true, while many of the researchers and scientists that were part of the building of the Normandy SR-2 were killed during the war or have long since retired, we still have some schemtics that were able to be salvaged from the remains of the lab where it was first developed. With the combined efforts from Turian scientists, the Alliance and the Geth, we were able to rebuild what we believe is as close as possible to the original design of the Normandy...but better." With the ending comment about being 'better' having Yuzu all that much more skeptical about the ship and its design, he crossed his arms before directing his gaze back up to the large vessel once more.

"While many of the Valkyrie SSV's systems are on par with the Normandy's. The Valkyrie's interior is not only designed for further comfort amongst the crew but with the Geth's assistance, targeting systems have been greatly improved and the shield batteries for the Valkyrie are far superior compared to the Normandy...and that is only a very small percentage of all of this ship's improvements. Aside from all that, the ship already has a crew aboard, I do suggest you get along with them as they will assist you in any means that you might need throughout your mission."

As the councilor spoke the entirety of the time, even as more and more people arrived, he continued on with the lack of need to address them unless someone had another question that was absolutely needed to be answered immediately.

With the ship there and everything seemingly to be completed, the sudden instant a puff of smoke had been blown toward the council and an older looking human asked the question of payment, the Korgan Councilor was the one to answer this. "Because of the dire situation of this threat, the council is aware that it is a high possibility that any number of credits offered might be considered 'not enough', so, we have decided that the best course of action as a reward for the total complete of this mission is that every one of you may request one singular thing and we shall grant it to you with no objections. No matter what it is, we will do whatever we can in our power to get or give it to you...Now, if that is all, please...feel free to climb aboard the ship to get yourselves situated before we give you any further details." After the Korgan Councilor explained the reward for the mission followed by welcoming everyone to come aboard the ship, another question was raised.

This time the question came from the Asari from earlier who had asked about the support they would get regarding the mission. This time she had asked about just how far the infection had gotten so far. A question that many of the council hadn't expected to be answering so had remained silent for a rather long extended period of time. The silence even bothered Yuzu who had a brow raised as to the delay before the Asari Councilor responded to it. "It is currently unclear as to how far the infection has spread...as there have been reports from all over the Galaxy that some planets have been witnessing strange spores floating around as far as even the Vorcha homeworld of Heshtok over in The Shrike Abyssal Cluster.." With that explanation, many of the councilors attempted to ignore the recorded message the Asari had played on her omni-tool just out of concern and fear of the unknown before they were the first to proceed forward to enter the large vessel.

A small smile appears on Xavier's face as he sees a cup of coffee in Ali's hands; he grabs the mug. "Thank you." He softly murmurs as he gets out of bed.

He gets dressed in a pretty pink crop top and skirt; he didn't remember that the meeting with the council was today, so he only brought his sword, strapping the holster to his waist. He grabs Ali's hand before leaving the house. "So what do you wanna do today?" He asks. Xavier's question was met without an answer from the synth. A small whine escaped from Xavier's lips before he got waved over by a high-class-looking Turian.

Xavier skips over, "What's up?" he asks. Even though he was currently in the n7 academy, he had a side job as a pretty infamous mercenary.

The conversation was going pretty well until he felt the geth poke at his arm. Ali offered out his omnipad with a page full of words. Xavier barely even tried to read it, his vision and the words blurring together.

"I don't want you to risk it." The geth says stiffly, he was met with a brief confusion.

"So?" Xavier asks.

"His track record-."

Xavier's mind started to become even more unfocused when he tried to listen to what Ali was saying. Something about the guy being suspicious. Xavier went through the deal since it sounded fairly easy, especially with the amount of credits the Turian was offering.

When Ali roughly grabbed Xavier's waist, he went limp in the get's arms, his head spinning as his vision blurred more.

As he was carried to the meeting room, he 'relaxed' even further.

As he waited for the council to get there, he finally managed to calm down, a shuddering sigh escaping from his lips.

Xavier wraps his legs around Ali's waist, resting his head against the geth's chest. He closes his eyes, just listening to Ali's heartbeat ground him. He opens his eyes as he hears the start of a video. It would've been pretty terrifying for most people.

Xavier didn't know if Ali was one of them or not, but he let out a few giggles during the video.

As he finishes watching the videos, a loud giggle escapes from his lips. "That's amusing." He mumbles to Ali, loud enough for a few others to hear.
He closes his eyes again as he almost falls asleep in the arms of his best friend, startling awake as he hears the mechanical heartbeat of Ali change.

Xavier's eyes widen as he sees the ship, a excited gasp escaping from his lips, he repeatedly pokes at Ali's cheek. "Look, look, look." He excitedly exclaims, not caring if the council was still talking.

She looked over to Elesi, who was still taking in the aftermath of the Council's unsettling briefing. The doctor's calm but focused demeanour suggested she'd be ready, and that was a comfort. "Hope you're prepared, Doctor. From what we saw, we'll need every bit of that steady hand of yours." She gave Elesi a slight nod, a genuine acknowledgement of her essential role in what lay ahead. Another caught her eye, a young human, rubbing his face upon seeing the vid and trying not to stammer when he spoke – his mannerisms clearly betraying his nervous energy at what he was stepping into. She offered Dexter a slight nod, her tone softened but firm. "Looks like you're about to learn more than any simulation or holo-recording could show you. Stick with us, and you'll be all right."

Her thoughts lingered on the mention of the SSV Cairo. She'd heard whispers about the ship's last transmission going silent, and the mystery of its disappearance gnawed at her mind. The Valkyrie's mission might provide an answer—or at least a trail. If they could trace what happened to Cairo, maybe they'd better understand what they were truly up against.

The memories of past missions flickered briefly in her mind—unspoken reminders of her work for the Citadel, mostly out of sight but always to maintain its stability. There was that operation in Zakera Ward, where she'd intercepted a black-market smuggling ring trying to move dangerous tech to extremist factions within the Citadel. C-Sec had been on their trail for weeks but couldn't crack the network; one discreet visit from Seira had dismantled the entire operation. She'd left without fanfare, no thanks expected—just a note to C-Sec's lead investigator with the location of the remaining contraband.

Off-planet, she'd taken on even harsher assignments. On a remote human colony near the Verge, a terrorist cell had seized control, enslaving the settlers and disrupting vital supply lines. The Council didn't have the resources to mobilize a full Spectre response, so they'd hired Seira. Apparently, at least one of them must have, but not in concert with the rest of the Council, considering how the Turian councillor reacted. She'd neutralized the leaders individually, leaving the colonists free but ensuring no direct traces linking her to Citadel funding. By the time anyone arrived to question what had happened, the terrorists were gone, and the colonists had their lives back.

These jobs, like so many others, were left unspoken. They weren't the tasks that came with official recognition or awards. She glanced briefly at the Councilors, and for a fleeting moment, she wondered if they actually understood how much she'd done for them already.

"You're the 'Ghost'?.."

"Well, at least now you can tell C-Sec where to send the thank-you card and flowers. Also, just Nere is fine." Her words held a subtle edge of humour, a nod to her reputation, but her expression quickly shifted back to seriousness as they answered the question regarding the status of the S.S. Cairo. "And let's hope we find some answers about Cairo while we're out there." Acknowledging Eve's concern, she looked in her direction, followed by a respectful nod towards Sarbok.

As the SSV Valkyrie powered down in the hangar, Seira took in the ship's design with intrigue and grim satisfaction. A near replica of the Normandy SR-2—this wasn't something the Council had thrown together lightly. The stakes had to be as dire as they'd implied, and the familiar shape of the Valkyrie solidified her resolve.

Her gaze drifted to Yuzu, who was eyeing the ship. She stepped closer, catching his attention. “If this thing's half as capable as the Normandy was, I'd say we’ve got a fighting chance," she said, a slight smirk on her lips.

She turned toward the Valkyrie's open ramp to follow the Council aboard.

Nessa listened to the continued briefing from the councillors. Nothing new from them but the fact that each of them had the power to act like Spectres was interesting though. Good to know they had the freedom to manoeuvre, though it removes the fun from sneaking around. Well, there was the matter of her new compatriots and how they reacted to her methods, there maybe some sneaking around to get around them. Still, considering the group she was in that might not be the case either. Mercenaries, like the Ghost, some one she had heard a lot of at work, might actually agree with her methods. Also there was Elisi. Though she was open to her more than other, there is still a lot about her that Elisi did not know, like her criminal past. She wondered what she would think about all of that.

She overheard further conversations as the other spoke to each other. She noted the Ghost comments about C-Sec, she smirked and decided to approach. "As the resident C-Sec operative i have to say sadly, they got lost in the mail. And i forgot my pen to sign my breasts, sorry." She said jokingly back. Still she had to admit, as a professional rule bender herself, she appreciate someone like Nere and the skill she displayed. She had been present in a couple of investigations suspected to involve the ghost and tried to track her but found little to go on. "Still, i need to pick your brain regarding what you did in the Kaldera aff..." She went to say before the Normandy class ship appeared and landed before them.

It was a beautiful ship, she liked the orange accents and the name Valkyre. There was nostalgia in seeing the ship, remembering between mission there were constant updates on the famous Normandy. Mostly propaganda pieces as most of what the hero did was classified, she mostly ignored it at the time. Still, it was like hearing a particular piece of music, it was connected to many memories, some good, some tragic. She sighed as the image of a human face appeared in her mind eyes, the red hair, brown eyes and that smile. The moment the face quickly changed to a dark place, the bright eyes dead and wide, mouth agape with a trickle of blood going down to the ruined road. Her heart raced, her breath laboured.

The face passed though soon after, the distress slowly passed as she found herself as if waking from a dream. She frowned at herself, it was a while since she had an episode, even a minor one like this. She wondered if being in the ship would cause more. However, she could not think about it now, others had already to start to board the ship. She rushed to catch up.

  • Ve’Nalia nodded to the answer she was given, she supposed that was all she was going to get but she had to admit the reveal the the Valkyrie was a sight to behold, the design was so similar to that of the Normandy of old, but there were clearly some differences. The Salarian councilor claimed that it was better than the Normandy of old. I mean she would hope they were capable of making something better after 100 years.

Walking into the ship after the council, she took a look around. The inside looked really impressive, kinda stylish to be honest, but the councilor did say that more thought was put into comfort for this model. She assumed there were sleeping quarters. She wondered if he got her own room? She was tempted to get a room with a view, watching the stars roll on by in that little ship of hers was her favorite pastime between planets, sometimes she wouldn’t even bother going to the sleeping area and she’d just bring a blanket to her flight chair and watch the stars as she fell asleep. She wouldn’t mind having a room in one of the observation decks, but anywhere with a window would be good enough for her. Then again she did suppose spending time with her father’s people did give her quite a bit of knowledge on ships, how to run, repair and maintain them, it was why her little explorer vessel lasted so long. I mean if the migrant fleet could maintain ships over 400 years, maintaining and explorer vessel for a few decades was nothing so maybe she should consider some place in engineering and yet a window was almost too good to pass up.

Ve’Nalia had spent some time on Rannoch, it was her father’s homeworld after all, and they had fought for so long to get it back so of course she had to go and see it, but mostly she spent her time with the fleet when they’d allow it. Things weren’t as dire as they were in days of old, now that they had a home to return to, but some Quarians had lived on the migrant fleet for so long they didn’t know how to readjust to living stationery life, it brought them values and an entirely new culture, it was the place her father had grown up, how he had lived a good portion of his life. Zin’Vigar vas Sheera was her father’s name, formerly Zin’Vigor nar Yahala so naturally she couldn’t wait to see the Sheera and the Yahala, the ship where her father was born and the ship her father chose to serve on after he completed his pilgrimage.

It was something she would think about, but needed to make up her mind soon. She was also a good cook and she did spend her time studying other planets and cultures…maybe that’s where she needed to be, a room with close access to the kitchen. Choices aside she really did want to get a look at the ship’s drive core at some point though. As she was to hear the Normandy’s drive core was a sight to behold, she wondered if the Valkyrie could compete.

As the Council was the first to step onto the ship and the rest soon followed after, once they had reached the docking bay of the ship they all came to a pause just to turn around to face all of those who came aboard. The Turian Councilor then was the first to speak up once again to start off on the subject matter of the ship's land mobility. "As you can see. Unlike the Normandy, this vessel does not come included with the standard issue Alliance Military M35 Mako. Rather, after the Reaper war, the Alliance agreed to work with us to create a vessel that has eliminated most if not all of the shortcomings of the Mako. While its ordnance are still the same compared to its predecessor, the biggest improvement on this vessel is its stronger traction to even the steepest of slopes as well as an improved hull and shielding. Unlike the Mako, this should be able to handle multiple direct attacks from even a Thresher Maw before repairs are needed, and if it were to happen to be grabbed it has an electrical pulse that can be used once before requiring recharge that will cause even the Great Kalros to let go. Aside from that, this vehicle also comes with a Seismic radar that will allow you to detect objects or other anomalies underground." As the Turian councilor continued on as though he were excited to bring up the specifications of the vehicle, it required the Korgan Councilor to step in just to place her hand upon the shoulder of her colleague to stop him from ranting on. "It is called the Firewalker, and over there is the usual standard issue M-44 Hammerhead for terrains that will require higher altitude climbs."

After the explanations and the Turian Councilor had realized he had gone on much longer than he believed, he'd attempt to fake a cough and clear his throat to regain his composure. Meanwhile the Asari Councilor would wave to those to follow along through the rest of the tour of the ship. "We will be splitting up from here. I shall be showing some of you to your living quarters while Councilor Garon will take some of you to the main battery and arsenal of the ship, Councilor Veklin will show some of you to the med-bay and finally Councilor Braska will show the remain of you to the drive core. This will allow us to cover the entirety of the ship in an orderly manner. Aside from that, please be aware you will be meeting some unknown faces as you walk through the ship...these people will be your crew and will be at your beck and call as needed. They are here to assist you on this mission to make sure it is a success no matter what. Afterall, we do not expect you all to be able to handle every possible function of this ship alone.."

With that all said and done, the councilors began to go their separate ways and whoever wished to follow would be able to get information regarding that specific section of the ship.

When it came to Yuzu, even when he had climbed aboard the ship and listened to the councilor go on and on about the vehicles, he seemed almost uninterested in the new vehicles and seemed to be waiting to explore the rest of the ship instead. When the Asari Councilor stated where each of the Councilors would be going and for anyone to follow whomever to explore the different parts of the ship, Yuzu had decided to follow the Salarian Councilor to the med-bay of all places.

The walk to the med-bay was a tad awkward as he passed by unfamiliar faces of those that he was going to be considered fellow crewmates on the ship. While many of them had been minding their own business with whatever they were working on at the time, some would glance over toward him as he walked passed. The sight of a human wearing a breathing facemask while in a perfectly fine area that had plenty of oxygen was odd to them, but no one dared to speak up as he was currently being escorted by one of the Councilors.

By the time they had reached their destination, stepping into the large med-bay, Yuzu's eyes fixated on all the different types of equipment the room was suited with. The Councilor had spent a few moments after arriving just remaining quiet so that Yuzu and any others who had followed him to get a feel for their surroundings before he had begun to speak. "This will be your med-bay. It is equipped with the state-of-the-art medical equipment to treat nearly any kind of injuries you or your crew might receive throughout your mission, whether it is externally or even if the damage might possibly be microscopic." As he spoke, he walked throughout the room till he had reached the opposite side of the room where a large door resided. Tapping on the large metallic door once, it opened with a low hiss to reveal a fully equipped lab with all sorts of different tools open to be used and examined. The sight of this had Yuzu's eyes widen as he had taken a step forward just as the Councilor began to speak once more. "This is the research lab. You may experiment and test out whatever you would like in this room. Whether it be for offensive, defensive, or for medical reasons. All I ask is that if you are going to test any weaponry, that you take it to the simulation room to avoid damaging anything in here.."

Nessa had forgotten she had even be given the sandwich when Elise snatched it away from her for her little joke. She lookes at her momentirily confused until she had processed when she did it and what was said. She grinned and went to speak before the ship arrived and she was temporally lost in her memories of her past. She was out of it for a few seconds not responding to anything as the images flashed before her eyes only coming out to reality when it ended.

She initially forgotten Elisi was there when she began to catch up to the people of the ship. Only when she spoke she reminded of her presence and paused. "Ah its nothing, just the ship brings back some memories of old days." Ahe replied dismissively being honest but understanding it's effect greatly. Not sure how much use that would be to a doctor who might know about her issue but likely she had specialised elsewhere. Besides there were more important things to talk about if they were about to talk about anything. "More importantly, hon, a half a sandwich does not buy yourself a get out of argymen free card. What in the goddess are you doing here?" She asked with a hushed firmness.

She was not really interested in a guided tour of the ship, one saw one ship you see them all. She would follow where Elisi when show they would have their particular discussion. Besides, if there was anything for her to learn she would figure it out in her own way.

The councilors had no answers. Eve knew it would have been a long shot, she knew that the moment the fleeting idea the council would have known about the Cairo passed through her mind. All they had was that transmission and even Eve hadn't been given permission to listen to it. Too close to it, they said, we don't need you running off doing something stupid they said. Even knowing this, she felt as if the weight on her shoulders increased ten fold. The voices around her now were muffled, background filler as her mind wandered. Would it be stupid to leave now and go hunting for the Cairo on her own? Would Sarbok come with her? It was very likely, she could hardly get home to leave her alone now, he'd never leave her side if she decided to go on a suicidal mission alone. Someone pulled her back to reality a little bit, the file the turian sent to the group finally loaded up. Eve quickly dismissed it, planning on reading it later. Sarbok would sit there and give it a brief look through but he didn't seem extremely interested. There would be plenty of time to meet his fellow cannon fodder on whatever ship they'd be scooting around the galaxy in. Didn't take long for that treat to be revealed.

Sarbok and Even were both expecting a Turian or Human scout ship. But as the S.S.V. Valkyrie pulled into the dock next to them, the old Krogan's eyes widened. His mind raced back to Tuchunka watching the Normandy pass overhead, catching glimpses of it in the citadel docks, even getting caught up in a couple dogfights where the ship made an appearance. Excitement rushed through his old bones, the krogan having to shake out his arms to get himself calmed back down. Immediately the fight or fight has triggered. Maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't die immediately. He nudged Eve, who wasn't nearly as star struck as she was impressed by the technical design, her glance switching between the councilors and the ship. Eve hadn't gotten to be on the top end stealth or combat ships the Alliance had, but she's been on her fair share of the research ships. It has been made perfectly clear they were going to be fighting a secret war, but this ship it...made it tangible. You don't have a revolutionary ship built if you don't expect this to be the end of someone's life.

The pair would follow at the back of the group when they began the shuffle inside the Valkyrie. Sarbok was going to make a joke about when the tour would start...and then it turns out the tour was actually going to be a thing and they weren't going to be left to their own devices exploring. Not that he needed to see much. The garage or cargo gold with a work bench and a cot would be plenty for him. Though Eve would insist he claim a real room or bunk or whatever sleeping accomodations they were being provided. "I hope we get our own rooms," Eve mumbled quietly, getting a chuckle from the krogan. "I know, I know. Probably not happening."

"I want to check out the drive core on the bird," Sarbok stated, getting a box from Eve. It was to their luck though that the tour of the ship was going to be splitting off into a few different groups. The pair looked at each other, nodded, before finally stepping away to join which ever councilor would be starting with what they wanted to see first. Eve had wanted the luxury of her own room in a shop for ages but you don't get that unless you're really important or do something really impressive. In any case, Eve was wanting to get her mind focused on something else and the possibility of her own space was just the thing she needed.

  • Ve’Nalia had a choice to make, follow the Asari councilor to see their living quarters or follow the Krogan councilor to see the ship’s drive core…where exactly would she fit in on this crew? She wasn’t quite sure yet, but she’d surely figure it out.

She spent a decent amount of time with the Migrant Fleet and she knew a fair bit about ships and how to repair and maintain them. I mean it was nothing nearly this big or advanced, but she was pretty sure she’d be able to contribute something on this ship. She was also and explorer, she often explored solo so she was kind of a survivalist, she studied other cultures so she was a very good cook with a wide variety of things she could make and she was sure there’d probably a place for all of that at some point so maybe instead of looking for a specific role to specialize in, she’d just help out where she could.

So with that thought in mind, she decided to check out where they'd be staying on the ship and followed the Asari Councilor, who knows maybe she'd find a good room with a nice window and maybe she could see what kind of kitchen they were working with, also wouldn't hurt to see who else they'd be working with, after all they supposedly had a fully staffed crew who were also probably briefed on the absolute scuffed situation they were in, but if they were ready then so was she.

Nessa followed Elisi towards the med bay waiting for the explanation she was owed. Occasionally she would turn and focused her piercing green eyes at her drell girlfriend with a glare usually reserved for suspects in interrogation. The eyes narrowed at the question being fired back at her in kind. It was a fair question to ask and though Elisi deserved an answer, she will not let the conversation turned against her just yet and let her off the hook. Maybe there was a little petty pride and wanting to win over Elisi as well. Not the most girlfriend thing to do but it did come from a place of love after all in her own special way.

As she got her answer, she listened quietly, her expression slowly softens a little. In fact, she began to feel a little rotten about treating her like a criminal earlier, even if it was with good intention. She was not going to admit it, but she had looked up Elesi using her sources one they began to go steady, so she somewhat already knew about her mother and something of Elisi's research... Well, at least the fact she was hospitalized and kapral syndrome was the most obvious guess for the reason. Still, she had figured that the situation was that bad that Elisi found that it was necessary to join a suicide mission. She sighed as she paused and sat back against a nearby wall and crossed her arms.

"I was working on a hutch regarding a smuggling case. I was investigating a business front from a smuggling gang linked to potential biological agents being brought into the Citadel and some communication recovered during the investigation brought up some keywords that were linked to the rumours regarding this mission. Tenuous I know, just a gut feeling did not thick i would really go for it, so i thought it was not worth mentioning." She explained in turn. She smirked. "Mutual omission... I think we deserve each other."
