Fandom Mass Effect Andromeda: The AU Edition

The Silent Z

Just Here
The year is 2819 and the Hyperion has arrived in Andromeda. Through some difficult encounters with a dark energy cloud and hostile aliens on the inhospitable planet of Habitat 7 where strange alien alien tech was discovered which ultimately saved the day but at the cost of the human pathfinder, Alec Ryder. Strange but intriguing flight able creatures were seen above reminding some of dragons and their tales back in the ancient times of the medieval era and such legendary myths as them. Signs of life was discovered amongst some sheltered flora in a cave, yet the planet wasn't quite liveable like the data packets and vids had promised. Furthermore the awakened Ryder has seen near death or actually dead for a short time as Sam aided in bringing her back and learning that she is now the new pathfinder. Despite the trouble already faced and belief that it surely had to be rock bottom......

The Hyperion Ark arrives at the Nexus learning of its present state and that all arks were thought dead. None had reported in yet or heard from least once since arriving in Andromeda... Director Tann has offered a ship and some support to the new pathfinder while another, Foster Addison didn't show much trust nor support for a untrained pathfinder but Kandros and Kesh on the other hand seem to offer their own brand of support. It's clear that nothing has gone to plan, much remains a mystery and many lives hang in the balance and that's just the start of it all.

The Hyperion ground team, one of the docs and some Nexus crewmen will be joining the pathfinder on their mission to pretty much save the galaxy. The Tempest is revealed to be the new ship that was built for a pathfinder and now that such a presence is here, a journey to Eos and firstly getting to know the crew are in order.

One such companion is a Salarian who by all accounts shouldn't have even been on the human ark yet through some comical errors in the system and wrong place, wrong time luck.... Zorlan Saelu remains part of the human pathfinders team. Upon arrival to the nexus he quickly sought out the state of security and made his way from the pathfinders side to wandering the station checking on how things were. A few from the nexus offered to tell him about it all, one was a woman, he quickly turned his head away and kept busy providing only nods and simple intro of his name and role to her while mainly trying to keep on job related conversation to avoid appearing foolish, confidence lacking and all together uncomfortable. Couldn't appear incapable after all, already doubts looming about rookie pathfinder, couldn't add to troubles by looking poor himself.

She proved far too curious for his comfort zone, asked after his history or rather how a Salarian ended up on a human ark instead of the Salarian ark. Embarrassing story, tried to avoid but she persisted and personal defenses were fading as topic started to drift further from work and closer to non work..... Troubling area. The Salarian thought about shifting topics back to work but she didn't take. Thought about lying through mentioning he was a xenologist expert and doctor aboard the Hyperion, but refrained didn't possess enough medical school knowledge to ultimately pull off such a feat. Only attended under false pre tenses and some hacking into critical systems to forge himself into the role of a promising student.... Still feels bad about what happened to the actual Raylo Vano, short lifespans already he became a doctor but took much longer. Perhaps effected his success?

Somehow he was saved from some timely assistance and he merely had to nod and smile. It proved most awkward a time he was rather glad it was finally over and he could board the Tempest. The security was very poor of current status but decent enough to holdout for now til resources and liveable planets aid in feeding people, providing jobs and raising morale... Til then little can be done to assist much further then he had already and Zorlan found himself aboard the Tempest where he quickly found himself a place to call his own, a room where he could work and quietly or not so quietly some days operate and be himself. Hopefully.

(A passable intro and summary of events to start us off. ^^)

{Tey'la}

Tey'la Frosha was positively beaming as she sent the Tempest hurtling away from the Nexus and towards the unknown. Well, there were some known parts ahead and that's where they were going, but there was still a whole lot of unknown behind it. Even if this mission went belly up, she managed to get the Tempest out of moth balls.
Glancing back towards the entry to the bridge, the Asari pilot wondered if she should go meet this new Pathfinder that had turned up. She had wanted to be in space before the red tape tied them down again that she hadn't really met any of the new faces. She knew Cor had gotten on board, which was a bit of a comfort. He was pretty dependable. But that still left the most important member of the crew, an apparent inexperienced pathfinder, as a bit of a mystery.
All in all, Tey'la figured the odds of this little expedition actually getting the ball rolling and saving the day were about a million to one. But that, in Tey'la's experience, was when the odds were actually most in your favor.

{Cornalias}

Cor finished running a triple check on the Tempest's supplies. He had pushed for getting as much supplies as possible, and made sure everything was quality stuff. If the Initiative was going to survive, it had to take risks. If the Pathfinder failed, Cor wasn't going to have it because she didn't have enough support.
"Though still no blasted ground transport." He grumbled under his breath as he looked around the Cargo Bay.
Maybe they could salvage something on Eos, but the omission still galled Cor. Well, nothing more to be done here. Best check on the crew.

In the Tempest's bio-lab Riht was making sure his botanical samples were properly settled in. He had only managed to get hold of a few so far and two of them were from Eos, reaching out he ran a hand over a particularly thick skinned shrub with spines protruding at eccentric angles from seemingly random places. "Welcome aboard." Some people had told him that his tendency to talk to plants was rather odd but between the lack of other quarians, so many people still being in cryo and the subdued atmosphere on the Nexus the lack of anyone to talk to had started to weigh on someone like him who had grown up on a packed to the gills liveship.

Leaving the lab he headed through the ship marvelling at the construction of the ship again, he didn't have the usual quarian flair for engineering but even a blind varren could see that the Tempest was cutting edge. Reaching the bridge he took note of the asari sitting at the pilot's station. "Hello there! You must be our pilot, at least I hope you are and we're not just flying blind!" Feeling like that was a lame joke the moment he said it he shuffled his feet awkwardly for a moment. "Anyway I'm Riht'Jannor, I'll be on the sensor station over there so we'll be seeing a lot of each other." Without missing a beat he dropped into his seat. "Glad to finally be off the Nexus and getting things done again, not much use for a planetary surveyor on a space station know what I mean? Though I guess you didn't get to do much flying either."

{Tey'la}
Tey'la gave a start when Riht'Jannor entered. She hadn't realized there was two Quarians in Andromeda.
"Oh, hey there!" She greeted, swiveling her chair around. "Sorry, wasn't expecting you. Glad to see we have a specialist on board. I was afraid we didn't have one on call. I'm Tey'la Frosha."
She gave her bridge mate a two fingered salute.
"Yeah, its good to get off the Nexus. I had some shuttle time, ferrying people back and forth to Eos. But believe me, getting to take the Tempest out is a dream. Can you believe the beauracrates wanted to scrap her for parts?"
She turned away for a moment to check on the ship's heading, then looked back at Riht.
"What did you specialize in?" Tey'la asked conversationally. "Terraforming?"

The bridge doors opened to admit the Drell Engineer, though she didn't make much of an impression at first given her silence as she inspected several control panels. The constant hum of the ventilation system, to say nothing of the constant thrum of engines under power mixed with the various audio indicators reporting on ships functions meant there was a lot of background noise which made it easy to ignore or not notice at all someone who didn't speak.

At least until she spoke up.

"A terraformer?" she said at last, looking up as she overheard that bit of the conversation. Iyetu left the engineering diagnostic panels (the ones that gave the bridge crew the status of the ship's engines) and joined the pilot and the presumed terraformer at the pilot's post. Tey'la received a friendly smile, for the two were at least acquainted already given their permanent postings with the Tempest. "That's good news. Hopefully it means we'll find land for our colonists after all. The Tempest may be performing flawlessly so far but nothing else seems to be..."

The Drell brightened from the momentarily melancholy thought and dipped her head in respectful acknowledgement to Quarian she didn't know. "Iyetu Thaok, Ship's Engineer."

Alcibaedes Dackett reported for the Tempest after spending over an hour checking on the ground team. The pathfinder team had it rough on the planet of habitat seven and AC felt it best to check on them before seeing the new ship for himself, he heard plenty about it and Tann told him plenty during the briefing. However change over was expected, Fisher was in recovery while Greer couldn't handle the life anymore.... Truth be told Dackett couldn't blame him and understood after all losing Alec and Kirkland like that could take its toll on anyone. The new team would take time to get to know, but no one team is alike that much AC knew after all his experience in new units and various teams back in the Milky Way.

Zorlan was a unique character to have aboard the Hyperion.... Odd, but a good enough sort he supposed. However he'd still take some getting used to this galaxy of problems and little in the way of plans. But moving on.... A.C found himself in the storage room laying his old pack and a sleeping bag on on the floor while pondering where this couch came from and who'd bring a couch? Either way it worked he supposed. The man didn't need much and didn't ask for much, just a place to sleep, food to eat, something to drink and he'd manage and if the task wasn't too bothersome a honest and straight answer would be welcome too. While Zorlan moved about the tech lab and kept rather quiet yet busy like you can expect a hyperactive, woman shy salarian to do. Dackett meanwhile was busy in his own right deciding to take some weapons from the armory and begin tinkering, wanting to ensure the spare weapons were kept in shape and worthy to fire, plus maybe he'd make some upgrades while was at it. The first weapon he started taking apart was a M-6 Carnifex pistol to which he begun cleaning first with a simple wipe from a nearby cloth he had on hand, simple form cleaning but good enough. Next was seeing what it lacked then making use of what mods he could find to improve the sighting, ammo, stability and firing of the pistol... Truth be told tinkering with guns and other weapons was a hobby of his and one the things he learned to keep his hands busy and mind focused on something other then what was eating away at him or outright pissing him off.

Anyway, He thought about moving upstairs to meet some of new faces as the sound of chatter and footsteps seemed present aboard the ship. But maybe in a bit once they got to meet each other, he could find plenty to do working on the pistol and other weapons. He already tossed the idea around in his head about maybe utilizing a melee weapon with this particular gun besides a scope, ammo upgrade and capacity, while adding a stability feature to account for the new addition of short barrel.

Riht snorted at the idea of taking the Tempest apart especially after the other pathfinder ships had been destroyed or already scavenged during the mutiny. "Yes and leave us exploring a whole new galaxy in shuttlecraft, might as well tell us to fly by flapping our arms."

When another voice unexpectedly spoke up he jerked in shock and quickly jabbed at his panel to make sure that it was clear that no he did not want to launch a probe right now, calming himself down he turned around and took notice of the drell engineer who had apparently just showed up. "Hello there! I'm Riht, Riht'Jannor. While I have some knowledge of the terraforming process I specialise in assessing whether a planet is viable for colonisation or terraforming during or just after the initial planetary survey, I also conduct botanical studies but that's also something of a hobby of mine." Feeling a bit more at ease he leaned back in his seat. "Basically I work out if a place is worth colonising, o-or at least I try to." While he had spoken out against the second attempt to settle Eos he had been just as enthusiastic as everyone else to try on the disastrous first attempt. "Here's hoping the magic touch the pathfinder used on hab 7 does something helpful on Eos."

{Tey’la}
Tey’la gave Iyetu a friendly nod. She didn’t know the Drell Engineer well personally, but she had been keeping the Tempest tuned up, and that counted for some major points in Tey’la’s book.
“Yeah, this new Pathfinder has a lot of hopes riding on her.” The Asari Pilot added in, then chuckled. “Heh. Riding. Anyway, anyone met this Ryder? Met her dad once or twice, but never her.”
She glanced back to the entrances to the bridge for the Pathfinder. It wasn’t like they were bad mouthing the newly appointed Pathfinder, but this did rather count as gossiping about her, so it paid to check if they were being overheard.

Cor started his rounds in the storage room, checking on a few more supplies that weren’t just left in the cargo bay. After that he moved on to the Armory, finding Dackett working on a weapon.
“Ah, Dackett, right?” He said in a friendly tone.
He moved to the side as to not block the door, assuming a military “at ease” kind and of stance.
“Cornalias Dyx, we met at the landing pad. Hope you’re finding everything you need. Triple checked everything personally, but there are a few things someone else might have taken, thinking we wouldn’t miss it.”
Cor didn’t add in that he had done that a bit to outfit the Tempest, but it didn’t really matter. Any supply officer worth his pay knew he was entitled to do so, and made sure to protect his stock.

The Silent Z The Silent Z

The former major had been meticulous about how he took apart and reconfigured the pistol, ensuring everything was put back together exactly how it was suppose to but with modifications.... Of course. However his attention moved toward the entering Turian called Cornalias Dyx from what he heard and recalled from the landing pad as well as just now. Dackett looked up with a nod to greet him while returning to the Carnifex pistol he'd been working on. "Dackett, A.C, Alcibiades..." Dackett responded with a brief chuckle while flattening his palms on the workdesk and pushed off now satisfied with the pistol. Now looking up toward Cor with a small friendly smile. "Ha, You can call me what you want." He continued with a shrug and wiping his hands before placing them on his hips. " I think I've been called just about everything under the sun, so I really don't mind." Dackett added

"But yeah, I'm Dackett." The operations specialist spoke with a nod. "Good to meet ya, Cornalias.... Military background by chance?" Dackett asked taking note of his 'at ease' style of stance while thinking on what he said. "Yeah I recall, nice work with the dock worker, nice to have less obstacles in our way. But I've worked with less... It's well stocked though and anything missing we can get later. I might look into additional mods, I tend to use them in the bunches.... never can have too many fully packed weapons on hand, back ups, emergency situations or not." A.C added not expecting the Turian to take care of it for him, but if he knew where to look then he'd appreciate the assistance or acquiring of said mods. "But like I said it's well stocked. I just like to keep my hands busy and can see it happening eventually." RikuXIII RikuXIII

"Pathfinder."

The voice was like an errant thought, cutting through all the atmospheric din--the sounds of construction and electronic beat of the Vortex's soundtrack--like a hot blade through butter. Communicating with SAM was not an unfamiliar process, but it was different now. It was intimate. It was intrusive. And worst of all, it mean she had to keep hearing someone use that title.

"I am still detecting high levels of adrenaline and cortisol in your system, hormones commonly associated with stress."

Sara winced. Visibly. SAM continued:

"Instead of your current approach to maintaining mental health, I would recommend seeking professional help."

"No. I'll be fine." Her grip on the whisky canister was like a vise. "I'm just... calming the nerves, is all.

A not insignificant part of her wished that she hadn't visited SAM node at the AI's prompting earlier. Learning that she was, in effect, partially synthetic now was not a very happy revelation. On the bright side, the headaches were gone. Though, that didn't mean the headaches were gone.

How many had she had so far again? One for Tann, one for Addison, one for the Scourge and one for the Kett...

She brought the mental drink canister up to her lips, and poured the whisky straight down the hatch.

...one for Dad.

"Very well. However, I would advise leaving soon. The Tempest is currently docked, and your team is awaiting your arrival."

"Yeah, yeah. Alright," Sara breathed, bringing the empty container down with a quiet clack, "I'll get going in a sec."

She lightly pushed the empty container toward the Asari bartender--Anan, was it?--and spoke: "One more for the road. And leave the bottle, please. I'll need it for later."

While the Tempest burned eezo across the Andromeda galaxy, Sara Ryder checked emails in her bunk. Much of it was well-wishers that knew her father or her family, and various Nexus groups vying for favors on Eos. Sorry for your loss, find plants here, look at rocks there, your father was a good man, find this and find that... Knowing full well that she would come to regret it later, she sighed and began writing back. 'Thank you for your condolences', 'I'll look into it if I have time', 'I'll keep an eye out', and so on and so forth; a dozen responses issued by the artificial clicking of holokeys.

The Pathfinder was supposed to solve problems, and the Nexus certainly had a litany of them. Even if the role was forced upon her, Sara could not, with a healthy conscience, deny her perceived responsibility.

That said, maybe taking on every side job you're asked to do was a bit excessive.

Fortunately with the aid of SAM, she was able to effectively organize her log. Now with zero responsibility until they hit ground on Eos, Ryder made her way to the Tempest bridge to take stock of the current situation.

{Cornalias: Tempest; Armory}
“Yeah, usual enlistment period, then went into the private sector.” Cor answered. “Still worked with mostly former military, so some of the discipline stuck.”
The Turian Supply Officer pulled out his omnitool and made a note about mods. If they found good trinkets on Eos, he should have enough leverage to trade for more gear. Heck, maybe the damned Kett had some mods they could liberate.
“Should be workable.” He promised Dackett. “Hopefully we can get the lab on Eos running again for R&D. Unfortunately, quite a bit of gear was abandoned there when the settlement failed. Well, good for this operation, at least.”
Shutting off his omnitool, Cor gave Dackett a friendly smile.
“Didn’t have time to say it on the Nexus, but it’s good to have you here. The arrival of a Pathfinder team sure brightened he whole situation.”

"The standard huh?" Dackett spoke in response moving his hands away from his hips answer giving a nod. " Quite the move going from enlistment to the private sector... I heard stories about the sector or some anyway while moving about the galaxy. Well the old galaxy." Dackett added moving towards a rifle in the armory cage and picking out a M-8 Avenger to work on next. The man placed it upon the workbench and looked up toward Cor. "But I get it. Former military sticks with you in one form or another could be the crew working with you or just enough years to keep it routine. Kinda sorta, anyway." Dackett responded some more and took a quick glance over the rifle and then toward the inventory with a rub of his neck. "Always felt this particular model was too stock for my tastes." Dackett seemed to say aloud with no real direction of his comment.

"Good... I'd appreciate the assistance with the mods tracking. Easier the track and grab the less distraction later." Dackett nodded with a smile. "We'll get it running just a matter of time. The real problem will be the planetary system for global cleansing.... If it's anything like Habitat seven then expect Hell with non ordinary conditions. Maybe floating rocks if we are really going deja voo with this mess and a sign that reads here be dragons." Dackett spoke adding the last part just for fun and thinking about what he had said just before landfall. "If it's near or in working condition then a lucky break for those who can repurpose it. But understandable to abandon all but lives and necessary items in such imagined times." The former major spoke. "Still....good, yes."

Dackett then paused with a heavy breath putting down parts of the rifle and looking down for a moment then back up toward Cor." Yeah...." Dackett noted for a start giving his head a small shake before continuing. " Hopefully it's enough to start. Guess the whole nexus and this team could use more that 'hope' factor." A.C spoke on the difficult topic. "Look, after our first stop we were just as glad to see you guys. I'm sure Ryder and Sam can get this whole thing moving forward too. Just need time, right?" Dackett spoke with a nod.

The ship was full of chatter it seemed... A well dressed Salarian had been hearing much commotion as of late while keeping himself inside the tech lab. Introducing himself to all the wonders this 'Tempest' had to offer, rather impressed really. There was some initial doubt as to the level of resources and tech one ship could offer in this new galaxy but after seeing it for himself the Tempest was rather well equipped. However while he was never in a hurry to do so, Zorlan felt almost compelled to break from his hole and come out to introduce himself or something along those lines. He had been rather quiet since the nexus arrival finding himself reserved and rather wanting to avoid too much chatter, surely much to discuss but always risked breaking from work related topics, serious matters were more comfortable less personal... most of the time.

Tugging on his sleeves with light pull on each, followed by a check of his hands then clearing his throat with a simultaneous shake and exhale, before walking away from the lab tables and screens moving toward the door as it opened.. Zorlan walked out believing EOS wasn't far from reach at this point and deciding to see who else was aboard this ship and who'd be part of this crew outside of Ryder, Sam and Dackett.

The Salarian moved toward the bridge resisting the temptation to check out the creation center for salvaged junk and the like. Giving the round table a long glance in passing before nodding in decision to keep moving. Walking toward the bridge with a showing smile entering his expression while entering into view of the bridge, seeing from a slight distance the presence of a female Drell, a Asari, Ryder and a quarian who appeared male, Zorlan figured the shape of him must mean a male quarian. He walked forward taking a deep breath and clearing his mind of nerves, thinking only of work and the task, it helped slightly. "Humhrrmmm....." Zorlan seemed to begin almost cringing at his own fumble that escaped him. "I... urm.... Greetings! Yes'm greetings.... Greetings, Zorlan Saelu, Security and analyst response or I mean, Security and response analyst otherwise considered crisis Operative.... Either works.. prefer SRA, but will accept either of the options. Salarian from the Hyperion... No, don't ask.... I've been in the labs avoided earlier contact, nothing personal. Nexus was quite the situation sorry couldn't be of help, or arrive sooner much more ideal. Couldn't be helped though. Oh....? Nice digs! Didn't really notice before.... Oh, Ryder did I interrupt your entrance? Sorry. You three too perhaps? Sorry. Mind operates too fast sometimes, mouth rambles... tendency of mine, I'll work on it. Pleasure to make your acquaintances though." Zorlan rambled on before coming to a halt and placing his arms behind his back, looking toward the group with his big eyes and occasional blinks.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Riht'Jannor," the Drell said, nodding as she listened to his introduction. Her eyes lit up with interest. "It sounds as if you have highly useful skills for the work ahead. Very glad to have you on board! The sooner we can establish a colony, the sooner I can get my daughter out of cryo. Just another family rooting for you, Riht, and your success! Our success. Ours and the Pathfinder's."

At Tey'la's question, Iyetu nodded and said "I have met the Pathfinder, once anyway. I doubt I made much of an impression. She didn't, uh, seem entirely-"

At which point the Pathfinder in question turned up. Followed shortly by a highly talkative Salarian. The Drell engineer chuckled quietly to herself and said "Welcome to the bridge of the Tempest. You probably want to talk to my fellow crew here, though. I'm usually in engineering." Taking advantage of the opportunity, she stepped forward and offered a hand to Ryder. "Pathfinder, I'm Iyetu Thaok. Your chief engineer. An honor to meet you."

"And a pleasure to meet you too, SRA Zorlan," the Drell added, her skin tone brightening faintly. "A fast mind will be an asset on a mission like ours. Speaking of, do we know when we'll be pushing off? I want to make certain everything's in order with the drive core before we put it through its paces."

{Cornalias: Tempest; Armory}
"A newly minted Pathfinder is way better than what we had before." Cor said with a shrug. "We'll make sure she has the best chance to get her footing in the job. Even the simple bit of getting a foot hold in Remnant tech is a huge step over what we had before. We had an expert looking into it but..."
The Turian's voice trailed off as he started to look uncomfortable.
"Did you be any briefing on the exiles?" He asked, obviously not a subject he was happy to talk about.

{Tey'la: Tempest; Bridge}
"Ah!" Tey'la called out, spinning in her chair to face the new comers. "The lady of the hour and one of her heroic team! Welcome officially to the Tempest. You haven't properly been introduced to a ship until you see her controls."
She gave a smile and salute.
"I'm Tey'la Frosha, your pilot into the great unknown, where we are going to a place I've been before. How are you liking the Tempest so far? Cor give you the basics?"
Watching Ryder and Zorlan carefully, Tey'la sized them up. The Salarian seemed interesting. His presence on the human ark was mysterious and his apparent unwillingness to talk about it made the pilot even more curious. She would have to work on him to get him to spill his secrets!

"Let's just hope rock bottom doesn't await us..." A.C spoke with a shake of his head. " We can ensure that much. But Remnant tech, huh? Guess it works. Ryder will get her shot to form the base of understanding we need and start the foundation for a future." Dackett added with a nod though was curious about this 'expert' as far as Tann spoke there wasn't a expert to speak on this Remnant tech, no answers to his questions back on the nexus. Now it just seemed a lot more questions and few people willing to speak openly on what happened before the Hyperion docking or least ones Dackett leaned on for information. But what was clear had been the Turians uncomfortable turn and trailing voice while asking a different question related to these 'exiles' another topic he didn't get much word on. "Not really.... I take it political B.S mixed into a highly emotional and stressed situation where crisis was looming over everyone's heads. Am I close? Tann didn't speak much on the topic of exiles, barely a mention and really poor response to the krogan presence or lack there of." Dackett spoke not liking the lack of info he had on the exiles and how those politicians could allow such a crisis to evolve into exile in a unknown and uncertain galaxy

"Truth be told I don't like it and though I don't know all of this exile business. It still stinks." Dackett ended leaving open a chance to find out more from Cor or least possibly more then he had from guys like Tann.

"My thanks, it's a pleasure to get started." Zorlan spoke with a nod and smile. "Ah, you're the nitty gritty of this vessel. A pleasure..." The Salarian added in repeat looking toward the others as the engineer took the opportunity to speak with Ryder. The man giving a nod to the crew while thinking over different lines, eyeing different aspects of the ships bridge with a accelerated pace turning his head toward the side then back towards the quarian and the asari. "The nexus must of been very difficult, challenging, boring and almost impossible to bare. But exciting... now..... we get to challenge a great unknown and see the vast darkness that plagues this galaxy. Little time, much to do, reward if we succeed will be incredible! So, which one has the science background and officer role here? And who's the exploration expert who shall be guiding us to each and every destination within this nasty cloud business?" Zorlan asked upon speaking a decent length trying to ignore any nerves and keep the flow moving forward in a work related manner. While still meeting the others present. Before realizing he spoke too soon and felt embarrassed with a touch of guilt for missing the reality of what just happened. " Apologies, I skipped without realizing ... Tey'la Frosha, yes? Pilot and exploration expert? A pleasure to meet you! Zorlan.... wait, no.... Said that already. You're too kind however, I'm not heroic, just here, just working.... but you're right, I'd love to learn this ships controls and run fingers across the surface, tried flying once... didn't work out so well. Turns out a shuttle can't withstand certain paces like a fighter ship. I knew so, but felt compelled to test it. " Zorlan chuckled with a returned smile toward Tey'la. " Very much enjoying this ship... its new, fresh, clean and very modern of technology. Cor? Cor? Cor?....." Zorlan spoke repeating the name as if it'd change the response. "No. I haven't met this Cor yet. Ive been in the tech lab and getting comfortable, settled in.... It's quiet or was.... kinda, maybe..... lost in time there, so incredible and like the aura of peace and tranquility it offered. I could get lost for hours just playing with the toys. Tinkering, testing and what not. But Cor, not yet had the pleasure kept to myself til now. Lady on nexus was kind but very persistent, liked idea of quiet place to settle in and not immediately interact. Hoped I was helpful before I left." Zorlan pondered toward the end with eyes drifting in focus elsewhere, briefly before returning focus toward Tey'la.

Now looking toward Tey'la, Iyetu, Ryder and the Quarian as the Drell engineer spoke to him. "Your skin tone has brightened... Curious, interesting.... uh, um.... I mean not like a scientific study sort of way, just different, unique and interesting. Reminds me of Hanar yet doesn't work, no, Hanar have tentacles and bright colors already... still, oh, sorry... Rambling possible uncomfortable, awkward situation I've created. " Zorlan paused shaking his head at his rambles before looking up and smiling at her kind words to his presence." Very kind, hopefully I can be of assistance. New work, new galaxy... very exciting. Chance to create... urm.... well never mind, but thank you. I gather we shall be entering the atmosphere soon and the planet of EOS soon as well. Hopefully, looking forward to getting to work and seeing this place for myself. What was the human expression? 'Roll up sleeves and get hands dirty?' No. 'Roll up sleeves and get it done?' No. well whatever it was, I'm that. I'm sure." Zorlan nodded while pondering what about him drew such a gaze from Tey'la. The asari watched him for a bit earlier catching his notice, making him curious what was on his face or person.

{Cornalias: Tempest; Armory}
"Pretty much." Cor answered, still uncomfortable. "Lost enough of the command structure that their replacements weren't ready for the weight of leadership. Mess ups, misunderstandings, and incompetence made a bad situation worse. While there was some genuine bad eggs forced off the Nexus, there was some good people exiled as well. People we could have really used. An expert in xenotech being one of the ones who left. As for the Krogan, from what I saw and hear, they got screwed out of the control they wanted and left."
Shifting a little, Cor shrugged.
"Like I said, it's good to have you here."

{Tey'la: Tempest; Bridge}
Tey'la smirked at Zorlan's rapid fire talking. All the Salarians she had ever met were fast talkers, but this guy just about took the prize.
"All good." She responded to Zorlan's apology. "Lots of new people to meet. I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other as we are off finding paths."

Riht shifted in his seat feeling a touch of heat inside his visor at Iyetu's instant faith in his abilities, most species weren't that quick to trust quarians though Drell having all but lost their own homeworld were better than most and he supposed that people stuck in old prejudices wouldn't have come to Andromeda in the first place though Tann was an obvious exception. "Well...umm..I'll do all I can of course, so you have a daughter?" Naturally people were hoping to start families but Riht hadn't yet met anyone who had brought young children with them.

The conversation was interrupted by the arrival of the Pathfinder and a salarian with even more of a motormouth than usual. "Ah Pathfinder! I'm Riht, good to finally meet you! Oh and you as well Zorlan. I'm starting to think we should have made name badges." He said with a glance at Tey'la as he introduced himself yet again. Taking a moment to unpick Zorlan's verbal tsunami he raised his hand. "That would be me, I mean I'm the science guy here."

Zorlan's observation of her skin tone causes it to brighten a shade further. "No, not uncomfortable or awkward. The Hanar do use skin tones to talk to each other, and to us. There are literally shades of meanings you can't get through a language translator. Old habit, I suppose, I try to remember no one else can read it." That seemed like a good explanation to conceal her mild embarrassment at least. It was just so exciting meeting new crew and getting the ship underway!

"I do," she says to Riht, beaming at his question. Clearly her daughter was a good, safe topic. "Her name's Nyis. She's still fairly young so she's still in cryo with the rest of the families. Of course, she'll be young well after I'm gone." Okay, maybe not entirely a safe topic. Still, Iyetu managed a smile and a bit of a shrug. "She's Asari. Like her mother was. At least there will be other Asari for her to grow up with, once we get a nice colony up and running. How about you, any family here?"

The operations specialist A.C Dackett had been content to stay down below and work on the armory stash of rifles and pistols. He had gotten to meet one Turian crew mate by the name of Cornalias who seemed quite adept at finding supplies and getting people what they needed or wanted... A good talent to possess during times like this where the basics were seemingly hard to find and safe enough to drink, eat or simply use. But as time passed and the Tempest neared the cluster where EOS could be found, Dackett began checking the time and looked up with a shrug while grabbing his gear and suiting in quick fashion, lastly grabbing his custom vindicator rifle before heading out of the room and up the ladder towards the bridge.

"Ryder?!" He called out signaling his presence nearing from afar as the tall tattooed second marched across the clear bridge walkway and into the room itself, giving a quick look around seeing new faces he had yet to meet and two familiar faces from the Hyperion. Providing nothing more then a nod to everyone present and getting right down to business all the while knowing his place yet stating the obvious to get things moving and prepared for landing. "Ground team should be in loadout getting set for EOS. That includes you as well Pathfinder..... and you, Zorlan. I don't want a repeat of last time." Dackett spoke looking to Ryder then toward Zorlan directing the last bit of his statement to him. Zorlan meanwhile shrugged in confusion before realizing what he was referring to, now just shaking his head with a mumble under his breath. 'I thought we could forget that moment...' The Salarian mumbled before looking up toward Dackett. "Yes, well, I was taken by surprise with that level of turbulence. Won't happen again.... No need to remind me, Major." Zorlan replied clearly assuring it will not happen a second time.

"Good! Now just humor this human and press that activation button of yours while I'm looking." Dackett smiled with a soft chuckle and waited a moment. Meanwhile Zorlan shook his head and relented by pressing the button on his coat soon activating his device which conjured his armor and weapons that now took place upon his body in place of his clothes. "Oh alright, though I doubt humoring this particular human is a fair task." Zorlan shot back in a playful manner.

Dackett just shook his head with a followed nod and chuckle. Now looking toward the window. "I trust your settling in, Pathfinder Ryder? Cause we're going to need you and Sam at your best down there." Dackett spoke turning his gaze toward the science officer and then the pilot both of whom he hadn't yet learned their names yet, as well as the Drell engineer present. "Reports so far? And any good clearing to land?" Dackett asked while looking on from his view of the planet and watching the ship eventually descend from the sky and settle down on the planet of EOS.

When asked about his family Riht abruptly turned fidgety again. "O-oh n-no I don't have any family here, I...umm." As another human bustled up and started talking about getting down to work Riht silently thanked the ancestors and turned back to his console. "Eos looks about the same as before. Radiation levels are still dangerously high on the surface, I wouldn't recommend being out in the open for more than ten minutes at the time without giving your filters a break Pathfinder." He spoke in a much less hesitant tone than a moment ago glad to be away from the suddenly touchy subject of his own family. "Tey'la I've sent you the coordinates for a landing zone from one of the earlier expeditions, there should be a number of areas that are shielded from the radiation that we set up previously for you to take refuge in. There are also a number of Remnant structures in the area that you could investigate, one of them may contain a similar access point to the one you found on Habitat 7."

Continuing to tap away at his panel Riht took a quick look over the data. "There don't appear to be any sandstorms in the area but that can change quite quickly. Oh and one more thing, since we don't have a dedicated doctor on board yet I will also be monitoring your suit vitals just in case, though SAM will of course be keeping an even closer eye on yours Pathfinder." He smiled to himself with a sense of excitement at getting back to doing what he had come to this galaxy for and with a Pathfinder to lead the way he felt a new sense of optimism.

Tey'la started the Tempest down through Eos's atmosphere. She had been here a few times in a shuttle for pick up and drop off. When a colony had been here, Eos's hadn't seemed to bad. But with it rejecting colony efforts and bits of Initiative supplies still around, it felt like a Ghost world. Well, luckily, the Tempest had big enough teeth to deal with any ghosts.
"Got it!" She called back to Riht, giving him a thumbs up.
She guided the ship along the coordinates given. It seemed to be about where the shuttles would land. At least somethings stayed the same.
"Might wanna check out some of the buildings we're landing near." She called over her shoulder to the ground team. "Had to leave in a hurry, so some supplies and equipment might still be there."
"Definitely." Cor added, entering the bridge in combat gear. "I'll need to check on the generators, but we might be able to get some of the labs up and running."
