Mass Effect: Aegis is a roleplay that will focus on the struggle of a rag-tag resistance group on Earth. Therefore, a majority of the characters must be human and a majority must come from non-military backgrounds.


For the sake of simplicity, ALL characters will start with nothing but the clothes on their back, an omni-tool and relatively non-essential personal effects. All other upgrades must be taken from the armory (as part of the character creation process).



Please follow the character registry skeleton provided below. Any characters that do not follow the format or that the GMs (@Veirrianna Valentine) do not feel are adequate (overpowered, under developed, etc.) are subject to denial.

    APPEARANCE: Saraya's environmental suit is an almost pitch-black color that makes up for the majority of its space, while a lighter tone of olive acts as an accent of color here and there. Her appearance is generally rather dark. Saraya's build is very slender, even for a female Quarian, and her height of roughly 5'6" gives her a bit of a lanky appearance, despite not being especially tall.

    Strengths:



    Charming // Saraya is a generally lovable person and often triggers people's immediate need to protect her, even if it's unneeded. This often makes her incredibly embarassed, as she doesn't want to inconvinience anyone, as well as cheer her up, as she's very appreciative of people showing affection. Occassionally, it may backfire and lead her to feel belittled, in which case she might show signs of being offended.



    Sneaky // The quarian is excellent at keeping a low profile and disappearing into dark alleyways. Her dark suit and easily overlooked build only add to that. It extends to more mundane things as well though, like her being a relatively quiet person when not adressed or trying to evade restriction. Funnily enough, despite her mercenary background, Saraya is extremely obedient to laws and restrictions on her everyday life and struggles greatly with breaking rules.



    Efficent // Despite her bubbly personality outside of tasks, she is surprisingly cold and goal-orientated when assigned with a mission, even if its of violent nature. This is more of a protective behavior, so that she can try and seperate the brutal aspects of her life.



    Weaknesses:



    Easily flustered // Saraya is very quick to blush or be at a struggle for words and could generally be described as shy. When complimented or at the center of attention, Saraya is quick to become silent or uneasy and will attempt to shift attention away from her. Some find it endearing, Saraya finds it extremely uncomfortable.



    Insecure // Negative comments aimed at her appearance or personality are quick to eat away at her spirit and make her sad. She might try and hide her sadness in childishly insulted behavior, but generally, she tends to become quiet and heavily insecure, sometimes even resorting to stuttering.



    Physically weak // As one would guess, given her physical traits, Saraya is on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to the more hands on manner. As she's quite capable of maximizing her given abilities in combat, it's not a huge issue, bu in normal, day-to-day life it can be impractical. Additionally, she's very uneasy at asking for help, often struggling for a long period of time before she resorts to asking for aid.



    BACKSTORY:





    Saraya'Kon nar Ciricide was born on a relatively small ship housing many families, resulting in a severe overpopulation. As such, the Ciricide had a tradition of sending quarians on their pilgrimage at a younger age than the custom is, though this was always communicated with the respective family and a consenusal act of necessary adjustment. As such, Saraya left her fleet early and became accustomted to the world in a way only few quarians can understand.


    After journying through various systems in an attempt to find valuable gifts for her soon-to-be captain, Saraya ended up on Omega, where the seedy, aggressive attitude intimidated her, but also lead her to believe that items of worth must be present to cause this attitude. Due to the way quarians appreciate dancer, the clubs filled with asari employees instantly drew Saraya in and she put her pilgrimage on hold. She'd soon be employed and be a relatively popular employee. While she herself didn't quite catch the train of thought, as the nature of her envo-suit was a normal thing for her, the customers tended to drool over her appearance and were drawn to the unusual sight of a quarian dancer. However, things went south after just a few weeks, when a gang of hired guns, send by the Blue Suns, stormed the club. Beating and intimidating the owner, a volus, so that he'd pay back his debt to the Blue Suns, the thugs shot and killed several customers and employees, while Saraya hid behind the counter. After making their statement and heading to leave, Saraya, panckied and enraged, would quickly sneak towards the volus, who she knew carried a handgun, and follow the criminals. Finding herself having beginner's luck, she hit and quickly neutralized two of the three thugs, while the last one threw up his hands in defeat. It wouldn't take long for her force their reasons and, eventually, their meet up location out of him.



    Frustrated, Saraya left the area before authorities could arrive and returned to the club, where she found her owner attemtping to leave the planet. Now enraged that he had not only endangered her and her friends but now trying to leave them hanging, she forced him to come with her and headed towards the location the thugs had planned to meet up with the Blue Suns. Once there, the Suns immediately drew their guns, only to realize who the quarian had brought along. Rather impressed (and amused), and as a token of gratitude, Saraya was offered to replace the dead grunts by the troop's leader. Realizing that she would not get out safely - and now without direction - the offer was accepted.



    Saraya was assigned low profile tasks in the area for about a year, mostly working jobs such as debt collection, protection money and similar things. They weren't too brutal and granted her some nifty perks, so she couldn't complain. Considering the nature of her day to day activities, life went about relatively peaceful and quiet, until the day her local commander ordered her into her office. The two got into an argument and the situation escalated, resulting in Saraya deeming it necessary to shoot the Blue Suns commander. Knowing that she'd be unable to stay any longer, she searched the carcass for any useful loot, finding an expensive looking pocketwatch. Now, however, the guarding members outside realized that something had gone on, forcing Saraya to jump out of the, luckly, not too highly positioned window and make a run for it, escaping their sights through the dimly lit alleyways. Barely managing to weasel away, the quarian was desperate to get to safety - and to ensure that her suit would be in a good condition. Contemplating who could patch her up, a young, human medic who had just started out but had quickly garnered a good reputation sprang into her mind. Saraya made her way to the district she recalled him living in and, much to her surprise, was actually successful in finding him. The empathic man helped up, earning her gratitude.



    Now, however, time was a big factor, and Saraya left Omega in a hurry. With the pocketwatch - not just an item of extreme worth but also proving her ability to defend the fleet from criminals - she figured her journey would come to an end, but it'd soon take a turn for the worse. While a warm welcome took place, Saraya found herself unable to lie about her whereabouts and revealed the entire story. Deemed a criminal and unacceptable to the fleet, Saraya found herself detained, now awaiting a decision on wether or not she'd be exiled. It wouldn't take too long for the hearing to take place, and Saraya's biggest fear would come true - A unanimous decicion called for her to be exiled.



    Since then Saraya has traveled around, reluctantly taking on jobs of dubious nature to support herself. Recently, Saraya has come to Earth, as she found humans to be less dismissive of her despite being exiled.



    MISCELLANEOUS:



    - Since being exiled Saraya doesn't like to be called her full name, instead prefering just Saraya or Raya.



    - She has a habit of laughing awkwardly when she's flustered in an attempt to downplay embarassement.

    • Biotic; like most asari, she is a natural biotic.
    • Low-Tech Specialist; she knows the ins-and-outs of maintaining civilian electronic and optronic equipment, ranging from simple plumping and heating to virtual-game arena systems.
    • Handgun Training; since her youth, she has practiced using her small handgun, able to fire and maintain it with ease.



    Weaknesses:


    • Most of her skills in biotics, is only related to defense.
    • Her knowledge of military electronic and optronic equipment is basic.
    • Her physical strength and endurance is on par with an average civilian.



    BACKSTORY:
    Yana was born roughly 15 years after the end of The Geth War. Which was by far the only interesting thing about her birth, her father had been a former turian soldier; whom had joined C-Sec and her mother a sales-clerk. The first part of her century had been growing-up in the Citadel - being around her family and getting a small-job at Citadel Maintenance. When her father passed away, she gathered most of her stuff and her father' recon backpack - and set off to the Terminus, joining Eclipse and getting-on with her Maiden period. For the next part of a century and half, she was stuck as an engineer or data-clerk; fixing up minor electrical wiring and connections - often times using her M-3 Shuriken, albeit the worst thing she managed to do was cripple an individual. Around 2166, with the arrival of the Systems Alliance, she resigned from Eclipse and started a small video-game arcade on Earth with the money she had made; having currently lived on Earth for roughly twenty years.

    Lyrica is around 5'2 (160cm), weighing around 95 lbs (43 kg. She did not ate well lately, thanks to Cerberus). Her neck length hair is dyed into dark blue, while sporting a pair of almond shaped crimson eyes that is easy on the eyes, presumably that she was using circle lenses that was customized for her own daily usage. Coupled with her full lips, Lyrica can be attractive for some, although one can see that her dark circles under her eyes upon heavy scrutinizing, even she has used makeup.

    - Lyrica is disgusted by the views of blood and gore. Most of the time she will try to hold it in, otherwise she will just throw up whatever she ate that day.


    - She is also afraid of husks, which undermines her ability to fight against the Reapers. As long she has others covering for her back (especially those manly guys), Lyrica will function normally.


    - Rather than fighting her enemies directly, Lyrica will try to utilize the environments around her. You better take cover if she decides to Overload a set of flammable canisters nearby.

    BACKSTORY: Gideon was born into riches. His mother was a successful businesswoman with somewhat shady connections, while his father was a hit on the Extranet for his role in many action movies. Gideon himself, finished his upper class schooling with average scores and a good deal of bribery.



    Gideon's skills in the world of business, diplomacy and economics showed not through his education, but his acquired wit. He inherited the CFO position of INTRA-CORE Mining at 21, projecting the startup mining company into a hugely successful palladium extraction conglomerate. He multiplied the net value of the company



    by twenty-fold in just seven years.



    When Gideon was 28, under heavy intoxication at a social gathering, he retired from his position as CFO and handed the position down to an intern. Nowadays, Gideon spends his day living as a hedonist and gambling away his massive fortune.



    Gideon found himself at a cocktail party in Vancouver when the Reapers arrived. In the chaotic hours after the first wave, Gideon kept low to the ground and managed to find himself an M-3 Predator pistol after prying it out of a dead security guard.



    MISCELLANEOUS: Willing to bet against pretty much anything. Known for betting against the odds and coming out on top, one way or another.

    BACKSTORY:



    Damian was born in Dublin, Ireland (Earth). His family was not a military family, his father was a well accredited university professor and his mother worked as a personal assistant for a prominent human politician. By all accounts Damian had generous upbringing, and whilst his father hoped he would follow in his footsteps it was certain from a young age that Damian was destined for the stars. It was during his secondary school education careers day that his path in life would be set.



    A young and energetic group of people forming part of an alliance recruitment drive had set up in the school hall and were handing out fliers and information packs for anyone interested. Damian at first, didn't consider a military life, but he decided to go to the stall anyway and see what options were available. There he met a young woman, a marine graduate of the N7 program. She told him of the vast expanse of space, the beautiful sights and all of the alien races. Of course Damian had seen some of these before. He had been to space many times, but the wanderlust overcame him. Something clicked in Damian's mind at that moment and his path was cemented.



    At first his parents were unenthusiastic. Damian was never an athletic or social child, but they saw it was what he wanted more than anything in the world, so they caved. 2 weeks upon graduating from school Damian headed to the nearest recruitment office and signed up to join the Alliance Navy. Damian completed his training with a relatively high grade in 2176, and was initially assigned to a marine detachment on board an Alliance logistics vessel.



    His ship was on Elysium when the Batarians arrived in what is now known as the Skyllian blitz. During the battle he assisted in the evacuation of civilians. The small team of Marines held the entrance of a subway station for 6 hours and were eventually relieved when Alliance forces broke the siege. Damian received a medal for gallantry and a class 2 marksman award for his actions.



    In 2186 Damian volunteered for the 'N' special forces training. His request to transfer was approved by his commander (Captain Han Jo/SSV Hong Kong) and he arrived in Vancouver to await transfer to Rio De Janeiro.

    APPEARANCE: Standing at 5'1.75" Imperial, Kori has the basic muscle tone one would expect from a service member. Bearing a caramel hue to her skin, complimented with coal black hair and emerald green eyes, her appearance is generally regarded as exotic even for humans, often compared to the older times before the human gene pool was so intermingled together. Not that she minds that comparison. Everything else seems fairly normal save for her legs, just below the knees. They are replaced with prosthetics that give her lower legs a Turian appearance.



    OBI: Military Transport and Fighter Pilot.



    AO: Adept



    Strengths: Strong-willed, Relatively strong Biotic, Fast-thinker



    Weaknesses: Forgetful that not everyone is military grade, Doesn't always regard her survival as a priority, A bit of a Rogue Element



    BACKSTORY: Kori had always been wanting to join the Alliance military to get off her homeworld, and it was made easier that she was a fairly gifted biotic as far as humans tended to be concerned. It meant that when she finally did manage to join, she was quickly relegated to one of their biotic programmes. Despite this she often found herself at odds with the humans that regarded biotics as freaks, and was known for being a 'fight finisher' as she always claimed she wasn't the one who started them.



    After the events of Mass Effect 2, when Jack came and started her own programme, Kori had been one of the first to get herself signed over to the unit that aided the famed 'psychotic biotic', and her real missions started, often with her and a handful of others going out to find, or rescue, biotic children and show them that they didn't have to be afraid of what their powers were. It was on one such mission that Kori had let herself fall into an ambush that was using a number of children as bait. While she had managed to shield the fleeing children from a rocket with a biotic shield, her lower legs were caught up in shrapnel. She would have died if not for the intervention of Jack and a passing Turian military brigade.



    Having had received her prosthetics in an emergency triage run by the Turians, they weren't human in appearance, but all Kori cared about was that they got her back on her feet. While still trying to adapt to the foreign appendages and recover, Kori signed on as a pilot and hasn't looked back since, often running high risk rescue and search and recovery missions.

    APPEARANCE: Eva stands in at about 5'4" and weighs in at around 108lbs. She is hardly muscular but is lean and considered to be in shape. Her skin is a light tan, her eyes are green and her hair is long and black and usually ends up tied into a bun.

    BACKSTORY:



    Eva was born and raised on Earth, at least, that's what she tells everyone. Technically she was born one a station orbiting Earth but sent most of her developmental years inside the gravity well with various family members so that she could grow correctly. Travelling often had helped her gain a more artistic mind as she took to taking pen to paper for a story or a drawing whenever she could. She hardly made many friends that would stay so for long, and as such her more creative side created worlds to keep her occupied throughout the changes and movements she experienced as a young woman. Eventually at the age of 12 she came to an abrupt halt with her parents once they had finally decided to settle down in the Philadelphia/New York/Trenton Industrial District. It was here that Eva's artistic abilities took hold, as did her generally unorthodox attitude. She would go on to attend school as a communications and art history double major and would later go on to become a freelance artist and writer. Both occupations help feed her need for inspiration and travel, and it enabled her to get further away from Earth than just a station sitting on a Lagrange Point on multiple occasions. While she has a place of permanent residence in the PNT area, Eva spends ten months out of the year away from it. That is, of course, until the Reapers attacked.

    APPEARANCE: Standing at 6’8 and muscled like a krogan, Maul'an is a force to be reckoned with. He has dark eyes and a yellowish-brown hue overall. Subtle dark stripes adorn his head. An altercation with Alliance marines some years back left him with a series of scars across the left-hand side of his face - while this onslaught also robbed him of two eyes, they were replaced by the state.

    BACKSTORY:



    They came without warning, they came without mercy. Three hundred thousand Batarian colonists vaporised in an instant due to the actions of one jumped-up Alliance serviceman. When Barca heard of the loss of the Bahak system at the hands of a cursed human, he vowed vengeance. Such an insult could not stand, for it was another to be added to a mountain of past grievances! There was talk among war within the Hegemony - war against the Alliance for their crime.



    Such a move would have been folly, however, no matter how deserved. Humanity was too strong, in both military and political terms both. Barca saw only ruin in all out war with the Alliance - a war that would have inevitably seen Citadel involvement. Those cowards had always detested their kind, after all. No, he would not see his fellow Batarians enter a fruitless war. What a cruel irony that had been. For as Barca and a batarian delegation arrived on Earth to avert war - but see Shephard tried and justly punished for their war crimes against Bahak - they received word of the Hegemony beleaguered by an impossible foe. Before they had chance to rush back to the Terminus Systems, the Reapers struck Earth, and all was lost.



    The sole survivor of the batarian delegation, Barca crawled out of the rubble atop a mountain of incinerated dead. As he looked at the devastation around him, he saw in himself the same terror his own people must have felt as their worlds burns. All of his military training, his years of suppressing dissent and fierce combat, hadn't prepared him for the dreadful roar of the Reapers, not the hoarse screams of the monsters they unleashed on the surface of Earth. It was an abomination! Barca had no love for humanity... but his hatred of the Reapers and his desire for vengeance drove him to their defence. He would fight for Earth until his last breath, if need be, but he would never forget Khar'Shan.



    MISCELLANEOUS: Is utterly ruthless, and has killed thousands in the name of the Hegemony. Fond of poetry.
