The age of the Superhero has long since past. In their golden age heroes and villains emerged in droves to battle one another in the ultimate showdown between good and evil, even occasionally for the fate of the world for worlds beyond our own. However that time has come to a close. Decades of battling on realities scale eventually took its toll on both the heroes and the villains. By the early 2000's both sides of conflict resigned themselves to an unspoken stalemate, as they seemingly didn't have the energy nor the numbers to continue their battles. While street level crime and events were still common with your occasional world domination attempt, the larger scale grandiose battles were a thing of the past. Although recent event may change it all:
The Death of Ego.
A little over two month ago, NASA became alerted of a phenomenal space occurrence: the death of a planet. On the outskirts of the Sol system, a planetary sized object began to collapse in on itself, slowly. However, before it could fully implode, scientists at NASA, took notice to the planet's distinct features. It was blatantly obvious that the planet had a face, and emitted a strange color. When compared to previously studied planets & extraterrestrial objects, astronomers came to the conclusion that the planet was Ego. The Alien. The Celestial. The Living Planet. Not too long after they confirmed their findings, the living planet had blown into billions of pieces. How could Ego, a Celestial, be killed? The Living Planet was no more.
The world was in panic. Ego hadn't been seen for decades, however stories of his untold amount of power was still fresh in everyone mind. While at first it was proposed that it may have been age, that idea was scraped, as based on archives, Celestials are immortal. The only logical conclusion: someone murdered a Cosmic being.
Several days after the event swept through the world like wildfire, while the worlds best researchers would do their best to study it and answer the high demand for answers. However something that no one could have ever guessed was only on the horizon.
A day after Ego's demise, the Celestial's planetary energy had reached Earth. The massive power would conglomerate into the skies above before rapidly rippling throughout the entirety of the earth as a wave of energy, infecting those below.
The Power Cosmic irradiated the air and bonded with hosts, mutating them and giving them superhuman abilities across the globe. This event is dubbed as the "Oscillation" due to the intense vibrations that the wave of cosmic energy had carried with it.
The world was baffled by the outcome of the event; the population of super powered individuals sky rocketing from between 1 to 2% of the worlds population (including Mutants which is about between 70 million to 140 million) to 5% (350 million) at the least within the last month as a low estimate, with the new members rising once unlocking them. Those who were given powers by this event were dubbed "The Oscillation Generation".
Many changes were made in order to accommodate these numbers including the S.H.I.E.L.D. program being reinvigorated, the X-Men, Avengers, Inhumans, and Future Foundation schools opening their doors up in order to help train these new individuals with their abilities
With this many people gaining abilities, the good ol' fight between good and evil picked back up where it left off, bringing in a new Silver Age for a modern era, with the previous heroes taking on apprentices. While the effort continues to expand to accommodate for the new state of the world the question still remains: Who killed Ego? Was this all on purpose? Is there someone bigger at-hand?
The dawn of a new era is upon us all.

Final Notes
- So basically all of this takes place post the events of the 616 universe(main marvel continuity) we all know and love. The difference is that instead of a bunch of things resulting in the characters still staying the same age over the course of their publication history they have aged linearly like we have. So most of the Canon characters will be in their late 50s, early 70s.
- You wouldn't have to RP as people who are a part of the Pulse Generation, you could be a Mutant, human, or perhaps the descendants of the previous heroes/villains or affiliated with them etc.
- This will be mainly focused on OC's and not really about canon characters so let's try and keep it that way. Mainly focusing on the new generation of heroes.
- Also being imbued with the cosmic energy is what gave the Oscillation Generation their powers. The powers themselves are random and depend on the person—sort of like mutants with varying power sets and levels. Not everyone will be massively powerful or even manipulate the cosmic power itself like Silver Surfer type stuff. Basically, don't be power hungry.
- Also, I'd like to give 100% credit to The Fantasy Incentive for the RP listed above—with minor modifications to the plot. And, I'd also like to invite The Fantasy Incentive to become my Co-GM for this RP
