I am a book.
In a metro tunnel, a caravan composed of make shift mining carts, trams, and subway trains, traveled along rails. Within the tunnel, glowing puddles provided illumination alongside the caravan's lanterns. It seemed quiet and desolate; a place of solitude to rest the weary head, if it weren't for the potential danger always lurking. Danger came in the form of mutants, dangerous animals mutated by the radiation, or bandits, humans with no regard to human life and morals. Although, the possibility to succumb to the harsh environment was the primary killer. Still, the caravan continued its path, with the captain at its helm, and the navigator, Boris Sokolov driving the vehicle. Those part of the caravan were ordered to protect and provide services.
Meanwhile, during the caravan's transportation, bandits prepared themselves to stop the moving entity. On this very route, there laid a crossroads to two stations, allowing the bandits to force the caravan to stop, or head a particular way that benefited their ambush. Those who protected the crossroads had died gruesomely from the bandit's guns and knives. The successful silent assault prevented the guards from warning the caravan. And so, in a single instant, the caravan's wheels lurched to a complete stop, moving the vehicle's inhabitants roughly, upon Boris witnessing the railway's change.
They heard footsteps echo inside the tunnels. Merchants feared their cargo, and guards readied their guns. Typically, bandits weren't as organized, and yet bandits were the only group that had motivation to attack. The notion simply boggled the captain's mind. Either way, he issued a warning, "Ready your weapons! Do your duty for the station and fight for your very lives to ensure electricit-," and then a bullet whizzed straight into his brain causing his body to plummet onto the grimy ground. Those who watched fled in chaos, while some remained in their carts stricken by fear. Only one thing mattered: survival.
The tunnel contains several doorways leading to different rooms and areas. At the crossroads between two railways, there's a plethora of bandits awaiting in cover under rocks, and wooden platforms. There is nowhere safe to go. The only reassuring place is inside the caravan, but it is slowly being overrun by bandits.
