Fantasy Malcof's Children

Helen sat at the dinning table along with her sibling slowly eating the meal she cooked. It has been two days after Malcof died and they have just come back from the funeral. There was deathly silence among the hybrids, all effected by death of the doctor in there own way. She served the food she made, a basic chicken soup but she didnt serve herself bit feeling like eating.

Although Tony liked the quiet, the silence of his fellow Hybrids was unnerving to the bat-creature, who was sat awkwardly on a chair, which he had positioned sideways, so that the back was to his left, and his wings could dangle freely behind him, without being squashed. He didn't eat, and instead fiddled with the spoon for the soup that was in front of him, staring down at the thick liquid. Part of him wished that he could disappear to a empty room in the building, away from his hybrid family, and get away from the uncomfortable, mourning silence that clouded the room. But he didn't, because he knew the others were likely struggling as much as he was, and that they all needed each other

Julian sat at the table, just moving his spoon around the chicken soup that Helen had made for the group. He growled softly to himself, almost like a sigh, when he let go of the spoon and leaned back. After a moment, Julian stood abruptly, and left his soup on the table as he walked outside, crossing his arms he went to the edge of the clearing and looked out into the forest. He normally wasn't so moody, but Father's death had hit Julian hard.

Julian closed his eyes as he stood on the edge of the forest, listening to the different animals. He didn't know what to do with himself, he felt an urge to protect the others, to try and give them direction in life, but it all just felt so weird for him. He missed being Father's second in command, and now that Father was dead, Julian felt like it was his responsibility to take charge, but apart of him refused. He just wanted to give orders that were handed to him, not to actually make the decisions himself.

Itzyana looked down at her food, it was untouched because she was too depressed to eat. She sighed and looked up to stare at the faces of her family. She stares at the floor, she sat high on her stool because her wings were super delicate. She grabbed her spoon and played around with her food, waiting for someone to say something.

Katherine looked at her chicken soup, she hated the silence more than the loud conversations they had. She was angry at them, especially the older ones she didn't know why but she had to blame someone for what had happened. She was quietly growling and she hadn't even noticed as she stared at her soup.

"Come guys. I slaved over the soup for half an hour, didn't even add any hot sauce or other of my gags to it." Helen spoke up with a slight annoyed tone, trying to get the others to eat. "You know the old man won't want us to go hungry over him. He would probably lecture us on the wastage of food." She lowered her tone as if imitating him."... ow there are people in Africa who don't ever get food.... grumbles, grumble, grumble. "

Alice gave Helen a slight smile at the snow leopard's somewhat up lifting speech. However she was still upset. Father was the only person who really got her, he knew everything about her and tried to help her to the best of his abilities. Alice slowly picked up her spoon and slurped her soup. The girl sighed, she just couldn't eat at the moment. She was just too upset. So she cleaned her spot before looking out the window, which she has been doing all day. She wanted to be there for any sibling who needed her, so she stayed out of her room.

Autumn took a spoonful of soup up to her lips and drank some of the broth. As crude as Helen's impression was, she was right; Father would not want his children starving over him, even in mourning. She could almost see the older man sitting at the head of the table, lecturing them on the importance of food and life. She couldn't make anyone want to eat, but a bit of conversation was a good way of bringing life back into the dining room. "Wasting, not wastage." She corrected without thinking, though she gave a solemn smile. "And maybe if you learned to make something a bit less... basic, then we'd want to more." She said, trying to change the subject.

Mari was sitting at the table with her hybrid siblings. Siblings seemed like an appropriate term since she had lived with them since as far back as she could remember in this house with her father, Malcof. Well, she saw him more as her creator for she had a bit of hidden resentment, especially since his passing. She could not believe he was gone, and though it made her sad, she was angry as well. All she could think was how he could leave her and who was going to take care of her and her siblings now? It was causing her some unneeded stress.

Her white feathers rustled a bit as she fixed herself in her seat, staring at the untouched food in her bowl she had been slowly stirring around with a spoon. She nibbled on her bottom lip as she felt Julian leave his place from the table. Mari wished to join him, but she felt like Helen would be angry if she left without eating the food she worked hard to prepare for the family, even though Mari wouldn't eat it anyway since she is a vegetarian and doesn't eat meat.

Maybe this was what Malcof used to create me with... She thought bitterly as she scooped up a piece of chicken in her spoon before letting it plop down back in the soup. Suppressing a sigh, Mari decided she would just eat the noodles and drink the broth. And she did so, fishing the noodles out, avoiding the chicken bits that repulsed her so.

"Basic? Wow... You really know how to hurt someone and not you want something better?" She said with mock indignation. "Besides there wasnt much in the kitchen to make anything more. We need to consider how ween need to get more, " With that she began to realize how reliant they were of their father, food, electricity, water.. She hopped her father passed on the information to someone here.

With a reluctant sigh, Julian turned and made his way back into the house and looking at his siblings, "Sorry about that guys." He went to the bowl of soup, grabbed it and lifted it up and began to slurp the broth like a dog would water. He didn't normally do this either, usually using utensils, but it was clear he was in a rush and didn't want to sit at the table. After a moment, his bowl was empty except for a couple of noodles and one or two chicken pieces. He took the bowl to the sink and set it in, "Who's turn is it to do dishes? I know father is gone, but we're not turning this place into a Zoo." He smiled at the small joke he just made, while looking at the rest of the group.

She finally decided to eat, eating it with utensils and smirked when Julian began eating with his tongue. "And i 'm the more animal one." She said shaking her head."Also i cooked so i am out of washing duty."

Jayce kicked open his door causing it to slam against the wall of the hall. With a big grin on his face and an even bigger bag thrown across his right shoulder he marched down the the hall singing loudly about adventure and treasure. He continued to march through the dinning room, grabbing his bowl of soup and slurping it down before he began to march towards the front door of the house. Just before he left the dinning room he looked over his left shoulder, still with a toothy grin, and said, "What are you guys mopping around for? Talking about what Dad would want? He said it in his letter. He wants us to experience the world." He turned around swiftly as he threw the sack over his other shoulder. "You guys also have some catching up to do in the real world." He was referring to the several times he 'ran away' to places outside of their land.

Mari slowly put down her spoon, having fully lost her appetite when Helen mentioned the lack of food in the kitchen in her conversation with Julian. It hasn't been that long since Malcof passed and things seemed to be going down the tubes. The eldest siblings in the house didn't seem to be taking much charge, well it seemed to Mari, but most of them were in mourning and Mari had to understand that.

She listened to the banter between her siblings about dish duty and most likely it would be her to be stuck doing the dishes. Her eyes slightly narrowed when she heard the sudden noise caused by Jayce; she didn't like sudden noise, especially when she was feeling a bit stressed. He was always a loud one, but his playful nature was always a nice change of atmosphere. Mari nodded with what Jayce said in agreement, though a part of her thought that was such a bad idea, venturing off into the real world.

She then got up with her unfinished bowl of soup and went to the kitchen to get started with the dishes. That conversation wasn't a can of worms she wasn't ready to open. But if the oldest of the house were to leave, then she would follow because there wasn't any way she could ever survive on her own.

Alice's eyes widened in fear. I can't live in the real world, people will try to kill me. I'm a freak! I have fangs and a tail so fluffy it's the size of Jayce! Alice looked around praying people wouldn't agree with Jayce. Her orbs scanned over Mari and noticed she was quite. So she doesn't agree right? Well maybe she doesn't, and she's too scared to voice her opinion like me. But Mari is way cooler than me. Maybe she does agree but she's letting people make their own dissensions. Alice's head started to hurt. She can't understand what's going through their minds.

The thought of leaving their house scared her. She's never left because father was always there, so she never needed too. She didn't know what to think, let alone live in the real world. She slumped against the wall trying to think things through. It's hard though because she doesn't know what to expect. What if people walk around naked? What if people eat bugs? What if people hunt just for fun? What if people don't have blue and red eyes? What if people wore foxes and snakes like a coat or boots? I've seen that in cartoons! What if girls only like girls? What if snakes and foxes were slaves?

Father taught about these kind of things but Alice never paid attention. I'm never leaving here, so what does it matter? She always thought. Now she wishes she would have paid attention to father when he was teaching her. She wanted to cry, and she didn't know who to turn too. The others were so cool and nice she found it hard to talk to them. They made her feel worthless, without realizing this. How could they though? She rarely spoke more than five words to answer a question directed towards her.

Helen smiled at Jayce, by far one of her favourite siblings. They both thought alike and had a similar view of what was going on though Helen felt more effected to her fathers death than Jayce. The prospect of having to go out of thier home was both exciting and worrisome, they had heard what people can be like with freaks like them." Being yellow bellied or not we need to do it sooner or latter. Father had contact of humans we could conduct, they could help. "

Alice nearly cried at Helen's words. She wasn't ready to go out into the real world. Alice tried to think of something quick to make the others stay with her. "B-But what about the house?" Alice tried to speak up with out stuttering. She knew that was a stupid response but she was desperate at this point. She didn't want to be alone, but she was too scared to leave so soon. Her orbs scanned over everyone hoping someone will respond to her quite plea.

Julian looked at Alice, and then Helen, "Plus we don't know what father told his contacts, I doubt they've seen pictures of us. Its not like we can just walk out among the humans without being noticed." Julian frowned a little and scratched his cheek, "But we do need to do something, since not all of us eat the same stuff as it is." He sat back down in his empty chair, then looked around the room, "And I dont want to risk any of you getting exposed to something bad, so I'll have Jayce take me to the first of father's contacts, once I know we can trust them, we can slowly start to get everyone out of the house. But I dont think it's a good idea for all of us to leave. Clearly there are some of us who aren't comfortable with the idea of leaving just yet." He looked at Alice and tried to give her a reassuring smile, then looked around the room again.

Alice would have felt better, if she not realized she cause even more work for Julian. She swallowed the lump in her throat before replying out of term for the second time that day. "I-I can go...I-If I'm wanted..." Alice said so quietly she was afraid no one heard her. She needed to change from being the shy coward she always thought of herself as. She was trying to make a difference in her life. Hopefully she won't be too much of a hassle.

Jayce placed his sack down and walked to Alice and pat her on the back, "We need someone to keep watch over my loot. So the house can't be abandoned." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a dull silver coin and placed in Alice's hand with a wink. "I might have seen a person or two on a couple of my adventures... Dad had one of them bring me back once, AND I WASN'T LOST." he raised his voice defensively.

Alice looked at the coin with a small smile. "O-Okay.." She said. It was better than what she had hoped for. Alice held onto the coin, refusing to put it in her pocket or letting it leave her sight. This was the first time she had done anything for her siblings, outside of doing their share of the chores. Alice felt proud she spoke up. She finally made some sort of connection with her siblings. "F-Father keeps an a-address book in his desk. M-Maybe that can help?" Alice said. She was trying to be helpful to Jayce and Julian.

She frowned, she wanted to come along but understood the reason why."I suppose no one would be believe me as your pet snow leopard? " She commented half jokingly to Julian." No? Oh well, it's your hide they are going to use as clothing instead of mine.though I hope not noone is funner to prank than you two."She said her statement hiding her concern for the two of them."Take pictures."

Alice gave them a soft smile. She would have wished them good luck but that would be to much for her. Speaking out of term three times in one day? That's nearly impossible! Alice just nodded her head instead. (I think Hyde is the only human so far...)

"Helen," Jayce shook his head at her joke, "People are incredibly gullible. You can come, if anyone ask we'll just say you're a Furry." He looked up at Alice, "Could you be a dear and get that book for us?"

"Well she is furry. Are there a lot of furry people out there?" Julian looked at Jayce confused. Julian had always been a little envious of Jayce, who was the only one truly brave enough to just leave and go outside of the forest. Julian hadn't told anyone, but he had only gone as far as the edge of the forest, and looked at the city from a distance. He was always too scared. "If people are furry like us then maybe we wont stick out as bad as I thought!" Jayce smiled, excited at the news that they may not be as weird as he originally thought.
