The idea is pretty simple but could be something really fun if we work together with. Now for a quick skinny:
As the name might suggest this your spaceship traveler rp. The ship is new "requisitioned" and the crew is figuring out what their going to do with the new sense of freedom. Will they be smugglers, pirates, ship for hire, work for the big government nation, the rebel movement, criminal gangs or just explore space and take your jobs as you get them. Hopefully each crew member with have an opinion on the subject hand.
The galaxy itself is mostly human dominated as far as charted space is concerned, Humanity left Earth and colonized around 35% of the milky way as the Union Of Planets, or The Union. Human contacts with aliens has happened which led to war of which the result Union of Planets was created and entering its golden age and the alien nation disappeared defeated into uncharted space never heard of again. Whether other Alien species are out there is unknown. The Union and technology advancement is inspired by Firefly. The Union though powerful, is long past its heyday and its stretched too thin. The further the planet is from Earth the less Union has control with some frontier planets have smaller settlement and are pretty much independent and/or run by gangs.
Technologically speaking, we have all the goodies laser weapons, FTL travel, flying cars, holograms screens and what not. Problem is there pretty darn expensive only for the rich and the military and this world the class divide is quite high. As with the galaxy at large , the higher and more central in the cities the more you get the benefits of technology. There are slumps of course were most of the people live on and barely get 20th century technology, however the places are also a melting pot of culture of old human nations. Your average person for self defense has to rely on antiquated ballistic guns and knives though of course people get lucky with what they can find.
