[div class=stoneSubheader]The Mages[/div]Mages are individuals who can manipulate Vis. Each of them have an innate understanding of how to manipulate it a basic level, but those who dedicate time to their studies can progress far beyond that.
Below is what is known about magic so far:
[/div][div class="stoneTextBox sheet hidden"] This is the character sheet for the roleplay. You are essentially making a normal, modern-day college student as magic really hasn't affected them all that much yet.
Age: 18+ as they are in college
Gender:
Major: What they're studying
Weight: BMI Caluclator
Hair:
Eyes:
Build:
Body Modifications:
Other:
Perception: Which sense do they perceive Vis with? The most common is sight, but the others are possible.
Method of Study: Broad (They are going to focus on all base forms and have weak control over all of them), Structured (they are focusing on one base form and have alright control over each of its subforms), or Specific (Focusing on one subform with basic control over its base form). For the last two note which they are focusing on. (Ex. Structured Aer, Specific Nebula)
History: 2+ paragraphs. Normal is okay and preferred!
First Contact: Write the scene where they first began to perceive Vis and became a mage. Very rarely do they utilize Vis the first time they are able to perceive it, but it isn't impossible in stressful situations where a lot of Vis is present. If they aren't a mage yet then ignore this one.[/div][/div]
- You can create 2 characters right now, though they each must be studying Vis differently and be put in different posts.
- I want effort. If it looks like you threw the character together in five minutes cause you're bored, you're not likely to be accepted.
- The sheet should be legible. Even if you don't know how to use a lot of BBCode the Rich Text Editor and its buttons can do most of the work for you.
- If you would like to play some type of staff member at the college, talk to me about it and we might be able to make it work.
- Antisocial characters will not be accepted. They won't function in this, mainly player driven, game.
- No player limit as of yet. Come one, come all!
- Absoutely NO work in progress sheets may be posted.

Below is what is known about magic so far:
- No one is sure at this moment what makes someone a mage and why others are and aren’t mages. It’s seemingly random, but most aren’t that convinced it is.
- A mage’s abilities normally develop around early adulthood though can come about later in life. Children haven’t been seen to develop these abilities at this time.
- A mage’s first contact with Vis can come in a variety of different ways. The two that have been seen so far is simply beginning to perceive it, and utilizing the vis around them in a stressful situation.
- Vis can be perceived most commonly through sight, though feeling, smelling, tasting, and hearing has been reported by some mages. This has been dubbed “mage sense.”
- A mage’s ability is bound to them in some way. Some are convinced it’s their soul, others like to believe that they are altering the properties in their blood. Whatever an individual decides to believe it is obvious something occurs when a mage begins to study, as when a mage uses their mage sense around another mage who has been studying a specific type of Vis, they tend to be reading the same type of Vis off their person. Of course no one is quite sure what this entails, and if it will have any effect upon the mage themself.
- Mages have only proven to be able to manipulate Vis present in the world. No one has been able to generate a flame where no Ignis is present. However while they can’t generate themselves, they could light a fire which would generate it for them.
- A mage manipulating Vis requires some type of energy, which is normally the physical energy the mage has. New mages tend to get exhausted rather quickly but can work their casting stamina up over time.
- At this time no one has noticed any need for verbal components, but even though controlling Vis mentally might be possible, its a whole hell of a lot easier to guide and mold it yourself using your hands.
