The sun shined brightly over the city as most kids and teens in the area were outside or doing last minute shopping for the new school year enjoying the last bit of freedom left. Jayden has slept in most of the morning after being up all night until nearly 5am. She yawned loudly as she shuffled down the side walk bags in hand of some school supplies she needed. “How am I supposed to hunt nightmares and keep up with school” She whined mentally “I guess I don’t have to actively hunt them per say. At least until my gem gets low…” She rationalized. It had only been a few days since Jay agreed to this whole Magi thing and she was still getting used to the concepts. The ghostly images that mixed themselves among the crowds of people would defiantly take some getting used. The time she saw the strange abstract creatures floating about Jay thought she was just seeing things but nope, they real and could be very annoying if they knew you could see them.
“Starting to think this whole nightmare this is just a joke and I'm just hallucinating” She sighed pulling her pendent out and into her hand and held it up to the sunlight
"You're not crazy, it's just been really quiet." a voice chimed beside her. Jay looked over at the blue ball of light that had decided to follow her... everywhere. It wasn't bad at first but there was such thing as personal space and this thing did not understand it.
"Right..." she muttered softly so no one else could hear. It took while for her to realize no one else could see the pixie, so any time she spoke aloud everyone else though she was crazy. It made for some interesting situations. Several fire trucks and ambulance rush down the street sirens screaming the whole time. “Wonder what’s going on now…” She curiously followed to see what all the commotion was about.
Avery's morning started off a bit differently than it normally did. Usually he got up with his sisters to go shopping for his younger sister Cleo and himself for the school year. Though his school year started at college and Cleo was going to be starting at middle school. Avery was immensely excited about starting at college. It was going to be a lot different than high school, but he figured it would be a lot easier to hunt nightmares then when in high school.
Getting out the door was a hassle in itself. Their mother was making breakfast for the family of 5. Avery was a growing boy and ate quite a bit despite his short height of 5'6. After breakfast he went to dress in clothing picked out by his sisters, as they were deemed fashionable. Brush his messy hair down, clean his teeth and put on perfume. Yes. perfume. There was nothing else in the house. Male exclusive products didn't exist in the house.
When everyone was ready, all three of his sisters and himself left the house to go shopping. Mrs Lively was thankful now for a peaceful afternoon by herself.
Hours of shopping passed by and Avery and crew by now had enough outfits to last them a stylish and successful school year. Not to mention school supplies. Avery couldn't say he didn't enjoy the outing with his sisters. He loved spending time with them, despite all the silly things they made him do.
Cleo had her grasps on him as they walked down the road to their next shop before tugging on Avery's shirt, "Honey! Do you hear that?" She asked him.
It was several sirens blaring over a direction. Leslie, Honey's oldest sister, looked the direction of the sirens and where Cleo had pointed. Page, the second oldest of the sisters ran a little ahead of them. "Come on guys! Lets go see!" She said rather excited.
"I don't know... that could be a bad idea... It could be dangerous.." Honey said softly, trying to deter his sisters from going on this adventure.
"Don't be so scared, i'm sure they have everything under control." Leslie tried to console him. It didn't really work.
'It could so be a Nightmare.' Sunny said in Honey's ears. Honey made a rather displeased face, that was the last thing he wanted to run into! Specially with his sisters in tow. Trying to get away from them to transform could be tricky as well.
Treasa Shea woke with a start as she always did, lifting her face from her latest project and rubbing the indentations out of her cheek. "Huh? Sudo, how long was I out?" Treasa asked her navigator groggily, wiping a slight sheen of drool from her lip.
"Since 01:31:18, so you have been unconscious for 7 hours, 28 minutes, 42 seconds. Would you like me to recite your schedule for the day?" Sudo chimed, eager to help, as always. "Won't be necessary, Sudo, it's Saturday, my schedule consists of 'don't lose any more fingers', so I think I'll just go clean up and take a bike ride, the IPFM can wait until Monday."
"Note recorded in your schedule for Monday." Sudo reported to an empty workshop, unaware her ward had already disappeared into the kitchen to eat before preparing for her day. "It may be prudent to be more attentive to her." Sudo reasoned to herself as she fluttered off to find her easily distracted master. Treasa had already scarfed down one and a half Pop-Tarts by the time Sudo caught up with her heat trail. "Ma'am, may I recommend a more balanced breakfast? The pastries you have just ingested only contain 10% of your recommended daily vitamins, a more wise decision would b--"
"This again? Come on, Sudo, Pop-Tarts have been my breakfast almost every day since I could eat solid food, and nothing has gone wrong so far." Treasa rebutted, taking the 'out running errands' note from her parent's off the fridge and replacing it with her own 'Out with friends' note.
"Your bio-scan results show dangerously low insulin-blood glucose ratio, if this persists--"
"Diabetes, I know, but what's the point of making sure you live longer if you aren't going to do what you love?" Treasa sighed, closing the bathroom door on Sudo. The little sprite was helpful, but lacked the humanity to understand that Treasa didn't agree to fight for... whatever cause she was fighting for... just for the good of humanity, she wanted to have fun with it. After showering and putting on a fresh outfit, Treasa grabbed her phone and wallet, loping out to the garage and hopping on her bike. She pressed the button to open the garage sliding door and revved the engine. Treasa's parents had been reluctant to allow her a motorcycle, but with grades and accelerated classes like Treasa's, there was little ground to argue it. Fitting her helmet on her head and her pleather motorcycle jacket over her arms, she kicked up the stand and accelerated, pressing the remote to close the garage behind her. Sudo was nowhere to be seen, but she always showed up eventually, so Treasa didn't worry. She focused on the purr of her bike's engine and the road in front of her. She made turn after turn, not caring where she ended up, just enjoying the thrill of the ride. About a third of a gas tank later, Treasa found herself near the economic district of town, and heard sirens wailing from behind her. As she pulled over to let the firetruck past, an idea struck Treasa's mind, a terrible idea, but an idea nonetheless. Sudo fluttered up to Treasa's shoulder "You aren't planning on--"
"Yup, let's see where the fire is, Sudo!" Treasa said, accelerating to keep a distant tail on the red vehicle.
Drake laid on the floor, with no bed staring at the celing. It had been a few hours now and he swore the little tiny spots of paint were moving. As he stared at the pure white ceiling a spider slowly inched its way across as if it had places to be and people to meet. Perhaps it is on its way to eat the pray caught in the web. He thought to himself as the spider got closer to one corner of the ceiling. Pulling his foot up to his chest Drake pulled a single lace undoing his shoe pulling it off. Closing one eye readying his aim making sure to aim a bit ahead of the spider Drake readied the shot. A moment later the shoe flew up to the ceiling nailing the spider and leaving a small dark stain on the ceiling where it once was. The shoe came back down to the floor faster than it was originally thrown as it nailed Drake square in the forehead. There was not much pain, just more of a huge annoyance and a red mark where the shoe hit. Well at least the spider is dead. He thought to himself as his door was violently knocked off the hinges.
His mother stood in the doorway clearly not happy with him again. She raised her finger and glared at him as if he was the scum of the earth. "Drake Richard Klein!" She started as mentally Drake started a mental checklist. Middle name? Check. "No son of mine will sit around all day doing nothing! You're 22 and you do not even have a job let alone a highschool diploma!" His mother continued ranting and raving as he still had not actually looked at her. Berating me over how I don't have a job or diploma? Check. "-And another thing! You need to start caring about what happens rather than getting bored and walking away!" Telling me that I should care more? Check. "Look at me when I am talking to you! I have had it up to here with your disrespect." Whining about how I disrespect her? Check. It was just like any other day, she would barge in, scold him for a bit then walk out as he continued to just lay around all day. "And finally-" Drake looked over at her intrigued. Usually these rants were over by now. What could she possibly say? "Get out!" She screamed as she threw a backpack with his clothes at him.
Only ten minutes later Drake was on the sidewalk looking at his, former, house. A bright greenish light came towards him. She has a point you know. Drake glared over at the annoying ball of light he named Navi after a similarly annoying character in a quest based Nintendo 64 game. "Oh shut up." He said to Navi as it flew around him furiously. Do you know how hard she worked to make sure-. Holding up his hand Drake finished the sentence. "That I had the best life that I could have only to have me throw it all away." Navi stopped right in front of him signaling that it was not happy with him. "I am on the streets now so it looks like we both have to deal with the current-" He stopped as he heard fire truck alarms going off. "Well lets go check it out." Drake headed off following the sound of the fire trucks which weren't too far off from him.
Chai, as many people would assume a young 18 year old, slightly demure muliebrous person would be doing on a Saturday devoid of work and studies, was still dozed off, probably in a dream about pancakes.
Sadly, at the thought of pancakes in his unconscious mind, he was promptly (With much fidgeting) wrest from his resting position on his bed, and thrown to the floor.
Not by some outside force. But instead their body simply trying to move into a position more suitable for ingesting pancakes...Delicious pancakes mind you, the kind that make one fall off the bed in euphoria from just thinking of it well sleeping.
Sadly, he didn't have time to enjoy whatever fantasy involving delicious pancakes. As hitting the floor tends to cause people to wake up rather violently. And the sirens suddenly blaring rather close outside didn't help. And although as he groggily winked open his eyes to assess the morning situation, the sirens would be on the farthest reaches of his mind, although it was inching its way to the foreground.
And it would have taken up to 10 minutes, if not for the violet hued ball of light in the corner of his eye, waking him up, and reminding him of something that rung quite a few bells.
"Aah...Good...Morning."
He wasn't aware of if the ball of light was even listening, and it ended up as a more inward focus response. still lying on the floor, he yawned and rubbed his eyes, despite that not doing anything to make him feel less tired, it helped him assess his morning situation
His brother had most likely left a hour or two before for work, and had probably left breakfast on the counter. Although even Chai wouldn't have known he'd wake up at such a late hour.
There were sirens somewhere outside, which he would...Probably ignore, as things like that didn't seem very important, being handled by the proper authority, and his stomach wouldn't let him walk much farther then the kitchen.
Quinn was currently relaxing in bed- a book propped open in his lap whilst Crim, his spirit guardian, circled his head. By now, he had read the same page 5 times, thoroughly annoyed by the loud pop music the girls' upstairs had decided to play. He sighed, closing the book around the same crumpled receipt he always did before getting up.
It wasn't like he was reading the book for an assignment or anything, but he was just getting to the good part before the loud beat hit him. As much as he hated to do it, Quinn had to put the book down for now, cursing as he paced hiss apartment. Deciding that he wouldn't get much else done in this noise, he left the apartment for the streets.
Despite the autumn weather, the sky was cloudless and the sun was directly above him. Quinn wasn't used to it, being mostly nocturnal, but he squints under the harsh light and gets moving. "I should have just dealt with it..." Quinn mutters to himself as he looks for a convenient place to duck into. Unfortunately, there isn't much around his apartment but other apartments, leaving him stranded on the side of the road.
Except the bus was making its usual route around the city and Quinn took the moment to jump on, ignoring the spiritual entities that rode with him. They were people, plain and simple, and he should just ignore them until he was forced not to.
'Danger, danger' Crim hummed in a teasing way, making Quinn simply roll his eyes in response, turning his focus to the window. As they were driving, the sounds of sirens came blaring down the street, causing the bus to pull over as the emergency vehicles passed by. Quirking a brow, Quinn got off the next stop and looked around curiously before following the sounds of the sirens.
Sirens blared as fire trucks weaved their way through traffic to a blazing fire that had started to engulf one of the apartment buildings. The origin of the blaze was unknown but there were several people trapped inside of the inferno. Try as they might however the hand full of people inside were against leaving the building. "The fire will cleanse our souls!" one shouted out of the window before shouted something comprehensible.
Unseen to the rescue workers several dark entities circled the building fueling the chaotic situation.
Jay jogged through the streets quickly coming to a crowd of people, she watched from a distance as the top floor of some classy high rise was going up in flames. The fire reached out of the broken windows allowing plumes of black pour into the air. Several fire rescue workers were trying to get into the building breaking down a door that had apparently been barricaded. A few used the ladders on their trucks to try and get in but it was proving to be too risky with the strange behavior of the people inside. "What in the world..." Jay muttered softly as the crowd around her watched the scene muttering to each other. A helicopter flew over head with the logo of a new station on the side capturing the next major news story.
"Jayden looks, nightmares! And a lot of them." the pixie spoke up.
Jay looked up spotting a hand full of dark ugly things flying around the building growing larger little by little. "So that's what they look like..." She thought to her self. "You have to use your spirit form.""What?! here now?" Jay yelped drawing attention to herself. A few people looked her way with a quirked eye brown and she scratch the back of her head. "Horrible sight aint it?" She muttered, sighing softly once the focus was off of her. "G'damn it... I can just do that here..." She muttered under her breath. "Find a place to hide then." Jay rolled her eyes before pulling away from the crowd to find a hidden spot.
Casius awoke to a faint ball of light floating about a centimeter above his face. He blew on it, sending it spinning up into the air. It floated down, flashing in a rather disgruntled-seeming manner as Casius sat up, cracking his neck and knuckles, then stretching up as high as he could. He looked at the flashing bug-like creature in front of him and smiled, "What's up Sylvrein?"
"Look where you're sleeping."
Casius looked around, noticing he was sitting in an alleyway. It wasn't a particularly bad alleyway, it was clean, and covered, but it was still an alleyway. He stood up and dusted himself off, then heard sirens off in the distance. "Check it out?"
Sylvrein huffed, if a ball of light can huff, and followed Casius.
Well, it was hard for him to actually be perturbed, and it was more of a failure on his part to expect his rushing brother to make food.
Instead he was greeted with a note, which included a sparse list of the refrigerator contents and an apology for having to rush out. Par for the course and to be expected, his brother did the same thing everyday, only very rarely actually getting up early enough to make enough food for both of them.
Despite this, he was unswayed in his morning preparations, and quickly retrieved...Well, no actually, as the refrigerator was...Rather conveniently empty, save for a few leftovers that wouldn't make a reasonable breakfast. And as such he was relegated to eating a bowl of cereal and lying on the floor.
"Ahh. What a nice day..."
He once again muttered to no one in particular, although the strange ball of light that skittered across his view every now and then seemed to be quietly listening. Then again, at the moment, Chai didn't really have a reason to be listening to it. And he was simply sitting on the floor of a medium-sized apartment, eating cereal without a care in the world.
Honey gasped when they finally approached the burning building, Cleo still clinging to his side. The people inside were clearly crazy. So what a normal person would think on hearing and seeing the scene. Honey knew better, he could see the creatures called nightmares fly around the burning building. There was so many...
"Other Spirit Guardians are in the area. Don't fret Avery, people will be helping!" Sunny said positively.
Honey hopped it was someone he knew. Most often all of the magic users were spread around the city. He didn't see another very often. Though now he needed to concentrate on the immediate situation. He needed to slip away from his sisters. When he turned to them, they were already having a conversation among each other about the situation. Cleo was not as into the conversation, just watching the flames a bit fearful.
"Ah... I REALLY need to use the bathroom." Honey said, clearing his throat a bit to get his sister's attention.
"We can go then." Leslie offered. She didn't really want Cleo to watched what could possibly turn into someone dying. That was not somthing a 10 year old should witness. Special after her rather traumatic experience 2 months ago. The whole family was a bit shocked and protective of Cleo after she tried to commit suicide. Honey had luckily stopped her before it was too late.
"No! It's ok. I mean I super badly have to go.... so I'mma going to run over to that public restroom I saw a few blocked that way! I'll have my phone on me, so i'll be right back!" Honey promised, detaching Cleo from his arm and running away from the burning building and down the street.
Honey ran as fast as he could till he was out of sight from his sisters, ducking into a near by alleyway. Sunny trailed behind him as he ran, speaking into his ear, "We need to hurry, those people are in really big trouble."
-Transformation scene start-
"I know Sunny!" Honey said as he got out of the public eye. With that he touched the jeweled hair clip in his hair, his fingers lightly brushing the smooth surface. "Time... to transform!" He said out loud. The gem started to glow with magic and suddenly the dreaded looking alleyway seemed to fade away and everything turned to tones of yellow and orange. Sunny also started to emit a song as Honey started his transformation.
Honey laughed as he felt the music and magic pulse through him, his clothes suddenly bust off him as if being torn off from some force, his naked body censored from a yellow light. Smiling, Honey tapped his feet together before two cream orange and white knee high socks appeared with a small poof, along with a pair of cute flats. Next Honey twirled a bit and patted the side of his hips, making a pair of cute fluffy shorts appear, the color of a cute cream yellow. Next he leaned down slightly and almost sensually dragged his hands up the sides of his body, slowly introducing a cream orange shirt. It started to appear, following his hands up his sides. His hands continued up to his head, where a hood appeared. Finally his hands continued to travel over, making a set of bunny ears that actually worked.
Turning, Honey then tapped his bum lightly, making a white bunny tail appear. Again he twirled around and stuck his right hand out and what looked like to be a baton appeared there. Suddenly several different collared orbs flew around Honey before all gathering to stack up ontop of eachother on the baton in his hand, together they all formed a long staff.
Twirling the staff in his hand, Honey turned again before striking a pose while holding the staff, newly transformed.
-Transformation scene complete-
After transforming the spirit world was what Honey was greeted with. With a determined look, Honey jumped out of the alleyway. Instead of going back down after jumping like gravity intended, Honey flew into the air, launching past the buildings that shielded human eyes from his transformation.
"We need to hurry!" Sunny repeated once again. It was slightly annoying, but Sunny was right.
Casius stood near the building, out of view. He watched the nightmares swirl around and around building, clearly driving the people inside to the edge of insanity. If there was one thing he hated, it was bullying, and these creatures were very clearly bullies. He glanced up at the sun, which was almost directly over-head. Perfect, a direct shot. He looked at Sylvrein, then grabbed the sword around his neck and pulled it off. "Stellar." With that word, the sun appeared to shoot a massive beam of light that engulfed Casius, completely obscuring him. Just as fast as the light had shot down, it disappeared, and standing on the scorch mark was Casius, now in his armor, sword in hand. He felt another, familiar transformation happening nearby. He scaled up to the roof to see Honey. "You too? Well, it's always best to have a couple of us, make things easier. You ready to go?"
Getting to the fire Drake frowned, it certainly wasn't going to be easy but at least he didn't need to get close to it himself. As the group in the area was busy looking at the fire Drake backed into a dark alley across the street and entered his spirit form, his hair grew longer changing to green as a white X showed up on his face all the while his body frame itself was more sturdy. He examined the fire as Navi spoke to him. There are several nightmares, I suggest we get started soon. Drake wasn't too fond of these nightmare things, specially not while they caused disasters but something had to be done and he was going to do something. After a moment two giggling gargoyles appeared out of thin air as they spoke in a language only Drake and Navi could understand. "See those black twisted creatures?" Drake said to the gargoyles. They nodded vigorously as a malicious grin grew on his face. "Sick em'." he said as the two overly excited gargoyles flew in the direction of the creatures. Those things always freak me out, why can't you summon soft cuddly bunnies? Drake frowned at Navi who was not joking. "Says the glowing talking ball of green light."
Honey heard someone call out to him down bellow. He turned lightly in the air to look down below. It was Casius! He had seen him around every once and a while. He was a senior to Honey. By a day, but an older Magi regardless. "I'm ready... Casius! Let's go save those people!" Honey said confidently to his senior.
He watched and two gargoyles seemed to fly out of an alleyway near by. Turning in the air again to face the burning building, Honey resumed his flight, following a good ways behind the two stone statues.
He was a bit nervous.
His power...was completely random. He had no control over what his friends drew. So he was just a bit nervous as to what they would give him. When we was alone he wasn't worried too much about friendly fire, but with a small group he could possibly hurt someone depending on what random object was drawn.
Another thing with being random, Honey had to be creative with the things he got. So the moment something is drawn, he needed to use it the best he could. Granted he would just summon a lot of thing or more thing. But again it was random and sometimes it just didn't help the situation at all.
"Wish me luck..." Honey told Casius before swinging his wand, "Let's get drawing guys!"
With that the little face's burst from the baton in his hand and flying over next to the flaming building. With that they started to draw a large box. The drawing looked like crayon strokes, and something a child draws. It took a good 10 seconds, but they finished the drawing to reveal a giant light switch. On it in bright read letters said 'On' at the top and 'Off' at the bottom.
That was when each of the crayons balls came together and pushed the lightswitch from the 'On' postion to the 'Off'. With that the sound of a generator turning off filled the area and everything went black. The only thing really visible was the flaming building next to the lightswitch.
The flying heads seemed to skip through the air back to Honey who was slightly panicking, "Oh my god... oh my god... What did I do?!" Honey asked.
Jay ran off into one of the ally ways just as everything suddenly got dark "What the ever loving fuck." She questioned looking around. "There are other Magi around!" Chimed the pixie. "Oh wonderful, I'll just leave this t-""No! Transform now and do your job!" The pixie scolded floating inches from Jays face. The girl pouted slightly before sighing "Fine." She pulled her pendent from her shirt and held it up "Transcend and transform!" She called out the pendent glowing brightly before she was enveloped in a blue light which rose and left her body to collapse on the street the ball of light took human form before bursting into partials with a flare of a long white cape much pike a butterfly from a cocoon.
Jay sighed "Ah forgot how weird this felt." She muttered glancing down at her body before "Hopefully this is quick." She muttered before jumping up onto a near by building then up into the sky where she hovered for a few seconds analyzing the situation. She was able to see the night mares clearer now though that was only from the glow of the fire. There was also something else flying around but wasn't sure what. She a few other like her trying to take care of the situation. She also spotted a giant light switch in the off position and stared at it a moment before looking up at the sun which was suddenly eclipsed . . . "Are you fucking kidding me..." She muttered under her breath "She turned of the sun! what the hell good is that supposed to do?!"
"Jay focus! Take out those nightmares. " the fairly yelled floating by her head. "Okay, okay." She muttered flying into the fray directly long swords appearing in her hands as she neared it. One of the snake like creatures saw her incoming and hissed flying at her. Jay smirked "Make my job easier why don't you." She pressed faster and flared out her swords as she veered just off course of a head on collision slashing into the beast and cutting it in half. Jay smirked as it disappeared "Easy." "Jay..." "What?" She looked down seeing now the whole cluster of nightmares locked onto her. "Oh..."
Treasa rode behind the fire engine, weaving between cars to keep up. When she saw the smoke billowing into the sky, she turned one street over, to find a back entrance to this burning building. "If you are taking the course of action probable given your history, I must inform you it is unwise, though, also probable, given your history, you will not change your course of action."
"Yep, and yep." Treasa said, dashing up the fire escape of the neighboring building, then leaping across the gap into an open window that was not engulfed in flames. She turned her landing into a roll and hopped to her feet. The room she was in was rather untouched, but it wouldn't stay that way for long, and she had to be somewhere obvious. Checking door after door, she saw the stairwell. Giving an exasperated sigh of resignation, she stood atop the flight of stairs and said "I don't have time for this, so: Initiate transformation process... thing... well, that could have been more dramatic, but whatever." Treasa pressed down on the opal affixed to the back of her hand, and, to any mundane human, dropped to the ground, sliding down the stairs, landing in a crumpled heap at the next landing. Her spirit form remained at the top of the flight, still wincing as her actual head bumped the steps along the way. "Convincing enough reason to be unconscious?"
"Affirmative, now you have approximately five minutes before dying of asphyxiation, so it is imperative that you make the building accessible for the disaster response teams so that-- and you appear to have gone before I was finished again. Is this what frustration feels like? Odd."
Treasa vaulted her body, then jumped out another open window, past some nut-job screaming about his soul being cleansed. On her way past, she gave him a quick shock to shut him up. Not enough to kill him, just to knock him to the ground. I think... Treasa wasn't able to think about that much longer, as the ground was rapidly approaching for a tender embrace with her face, so she twisted herself midair to allow for a tuck-and-roll maneuver upon landing. She came standing, face to face with a nightmare. "Now, I'm not sure if nightmares can express shock, but I'd say if you could, that'd be the face you make." Treasa said, reeling her arm back for a wide slice at the thing's face. "Let's see what fear looks like on y-- what in the hell? Who turned off the sun?" Treasa looked up to see the sun had, in fact, been turned off. ...huh. Weird. That's a "later" problem. For now: Let's deal with-- "Aww, crap," Treasa said as she saw her adversary had been joined by two other nightmares. She backed up, but they matched her, step-for-step, until she backed into an electrical pole. She glanced at the building, and saw embers licking the wood pole behind her. An idea sparked in Treasa's mind, and she whirled around, slicing the pole down at the base, making sure the angle of the cut made it fall away from the rescue team and the onlookers. The wires snapped, and several thousand kilowatts desperately tried to make it to the ground, leaving charred pavement where the cables ran along the ground. She snatched up the wires, and swung them into the nightmares, blue arcs of electricity leaping into their dark forms. The nightmares writhed as the sparks ate their way through the darkness, until nothing was left but smoke, merging with the rest of the billowing carbon dioxide in the air above the inferno.
Sudo finally caught up to Treasa and reported in. "Your body has been cared for by EMTs, I will inform you on the specific hospice when you are finished here."
Treasa saw another guardian take out a nightmare, then get swarmed, so she pushed off the ground, rising in the air and arcing to land on one of the nightmares attacking the girl. She would have looked infinitely more bad-ass silhouetted against the sun with her own personal lens flare, but someone had to go and turn off the sun. I mean, really? The sun? Her internal frustrations were cut short, along with the life of the nightmare she landed on with a metallic 'thunk.'
"Need some help?" Treasa remarked to the other guardian as she stood up and brushed non-existent dust from her... chassis? "Sudo, would it still be called a body if I'm a robot? Come to think of it, am I really a robot when I do this? Doesn't feel like it."
"Now is not an opportune moment to muse on questions of existentialism."
"Right, fighting." Treasa said dropping back into battle stance.
"The fire will cleanse our souls" Quinn repeated dryly, observing the nightmares wreak havoc in the burning building. There were a lot of the coagulating around the somewhat classy high rise, 'Danger, danger' Crim was still humming, oblivious to the fact Quinn was standing in front of the building. Except it didn't look like he needed to step in- as many as five other guardians had already transformed to save the day.
Their methods weren't the most optimal, given the cute blonde had shut off the sun when they were trying to...well what was it they were trying to do? 'Quinn, you must transform' Crim finally stopped the loop track, stopping his circles around Quinn. Instead the fairy floated up in front of his face and got right in it, making him flinch back slightly.
Was it really that bad he needed to step in?
The nightmares numbers did look awfully high on the ground level, but there were at least three of them that looked useful to the cause. With a defeated sigh, Quinn turned on his heel and found his way to an alley.
Insert transformation musix
"Transform!" with his hand hovering over his chest, the geometric pendant floated up, taut on its chain. The rock chrysalis cracked, expanding from the center and flung towards him, forming the armor of his transformation. Except the chain continued with the momentum, flinging up an over his head to form his helmet. When it dropped behind him, Quinn turned to catch it easily- right before it morphed into the pommel of his sword.
Giving a few experimental swings without releasing any of his magical prowess into them, Quinn settled into a fighting stance before he took off for the building again. Quinn was quick to take to the air, jumping on invisible landing platforms as he scaled higher, leveling out with the rest of his magical brethren. With a slight 'tch' the man cleaved at the air, not bothering to aim with the large mass of nightmares present. The arc of his weapon was visible in the sky, firing off towards the house a second after his swing stopped.
There was a time, when seemingly all-powerful warriors stood to the challenge of fighting evil, great clashes of light and darkness, protecting the world from destruction.
Now was one of those times, except on a possibly smaller scale, where users of magical abilities were out in the world fighting off nightmares, most all of them doing amazing feats and saving lives.
That would be all but one, who was currently lying on the floor eating a slightly soggy and average bowl of cereal, and swapping through television channels without a care in the world.
He had such few cares, that currently as he was swapping through the uninteresting drek filled television stations, that he was considering what he would to today, he could attempt to meet up with some people from school, although his limited amount of friends where probably out and doing their own thing. He could simply stay inside and eat more cereal, which was certainly appealing. For now though, that wasn't an issue, and the only prevalent annoyance in his situation would be a slightly dry throat, which was easily fixed by going to the fridge and getting some grape juice, which his brother normally stocked in droves.
Sadly, his siblings absent-mindedness had ruined that prospect, as he opened the fridge and was greeted with what might aswell have been cobwebs, this presented a new course of action, which was running down the street to grab a few gallons of grape juice. And without another thought he had left the apartment building behind, cereal bowl and TV neglected. To go on his own little adventure of sorts, a quick jog down the road. Strange purple-ish hued light following along per normal.
Casius stood there, ready to fight. Well, he was ready, until the sun went out. He glared at Honey, and then started charging the nightmares, when, again, he was stopped dead by a bunch of other magi appearing out of fucking nowhere. He was so befuddled by the number that just seemed to appear that at first he didn't notice the swarm of Nightmares charging him. By the time he did notice, it was a bit too late, and he was knocked back... hard. He stood up and held his sword at the ready, then called out "Rings of Saturn, guard me!" With that, magical rings appeared about his body, knocking enemies back. He began slashing at them with his sword, while looking around at the others. "Well fuck."
Drake stood as he watched his gargoyles pull an unconscious person out of fire. As much as he liked his gargoyles they were not bright at all. He looked to the gargoyles who waited for him to give them an order, he began to whisper under his breath in a language only the gargoyles and Navi understood. They were simple commands to each of the gargoyles as he guided them through the battle. A nightmare then slammed into one of the gargoyles sending it back a few feet. Frowning, Drake told the other one to strike back, the gargoyle struck the creature with incredibly sharp fingernails before following up with a punch to the jaw. Drake smiled as he saw the gargoyles actually enjoying themselves, they were quite the mysterious creatures. The second one rejoined to fight as it began to laugh manically as it playfully smashed its head into the first one which began to laugh as well. Couldn't you just talk to someone about a more, reliable power? These two things aren't that dependable. Navi complained again before watching as the first gargoyle grabbed the second by legs and used the second to hit the nightmare as if it were a baseball bat. Drake laughed at the nonsensical behavior of them before responding to Navi. "No, they're fine, they may not obey me completely but they still know what they need to do."
Honey continued to panic slightly as his friend Casius glared at him from afar. "S-sorry!" Honey felt himself studder. Honestly he was not sure what to do to fix it. Some one kind of needed to turn the lights back on. He didn't have the muscle to do it. The other Magic users didn't seem all that affected by the lights going off when they did.
Taking a long breath, Honey closed his eyes before throwing his hand out in front of him, waving the baton in a commanding fashion, "Alright guys! Lets do something more useful this time!" With the command the heads started the draw once more. It took them a moment, but they soon finished drawing a pizza. It actually smelled like a pizza which was a strange contrast to it not looking like a pizza.
"That... that was not at all what I wanted...." Honey said watched the pizza just fall from the sky before splatting on the ground below him.
"One more time!!" Honey said again throwing his hands in front of him. The heads started to draw a rather large Gingerbread man. When it was complete, the little man started to wave frantically at the Nightmares, starting to lure them away from the burning building. Then just like in the books, all the Nightmares started to chase the gingerbread man. The little crayon drawing started to run, nightmare in hot pursuit.
Jay swiped at the few nightmares that had attacked her slicing of their heads with only slight difficulty. Unfortunately there seemed to be a mass of nightmares not just a hand full. One was about to blindside her until metal robot(?) came crashing in taking care of the creature. She looked over what she could only assume was another guardian given the pixy that was fluttering around it. "Uh Yeah thanks for the help." She spoke up watching the robot a moment as it started to ramble about something. The horrid hissing of the Nightmare drew her back to the situation at hand and grit her teeth. "How the hell are there so many..." she growled under her breath cutting through two more. She noticed several other guardians who had arrived on the scene as was surprised that there were so many to begin with. Why did they need her to become one again? there seemed to be a decent number in the area already. Another question for another time, perhaps after the battle?
She was about to take out another one before it sharply change directions. Jay blinked a few times before noticing all the nightmares were leaving the scene chasing after some kind of crayon cookie man. "The hell...?" She muttered before shaking her head. At least they were distracted which meant they would be much easier targets. Jay summoned a hand full of swords around her before hurling them into the cluster of night mares skewing a few of them.
