Magic Rainbow Crystals (Ideas needed!)

So, I had this idea where people receive a crystal in the mail, the color depending on who it was sent to and stuff. The package the crystal was in had a note taped to it that has an address and the eerie message, "Come to this address tomorrow, though many of you will not be brave enough." those that are brave enough visited the address, and we're told these crystals were going to be their most helpful item for the next few weeks. They could transform into weapons and yeah. That's all I have. Any expansions on this idea is encouraged. I really like this idea and want to think of some more for it.

I am imagining you are going for a more realistic setting?


Why not doing something in a fantasy universe, it would make it more exciting in my opinion.
