Mages and Ninja

Choose your story! This roleplay will follow a game-like format. Players will be able to choose from one character from Earthland or the Elemental Continent and choose which path they would like to go down. However, what happens as a result of that choice is up to the author. The author will be happy to take in suggestions for storylines and characters, so tag me if you have an idea you would like to share!

Characters will mostly stay as is in canon. Characters not belonging in either world may appear depending on the players' decisions. OC appearance will be determined through voting, but it's a little different.

Book One: A Shadow Emerges

Kakashi was tired. He was tired of it all. Yet, he continued to go on with life mechanically, without emotion. Emotions made a person weak. Emotions hindered missions. After he had lost both of his teammates, he didn't know what to do. He was lost. Now all he could do was continue being a shinobi. His current mission was a solo mission assigned to him by the Hokage himself. Emotionally detached he may be, but he still completed the missions quickly and efficiently. The mission was simple: Gather intel on a man by the name of Jellal. The man suddenly appeared in Konohagakure a few months back, and has been seen using an unusual form of jutsu on multiple occasions. Interrogation was out of the question this early on, but they did get his name.


At the moment, Kakashi was spying on the man through his apartment window from a nearby tree. Jellal did not seem to take notice of his presence. So when the man's head snapped up towards his direction, Kakashi almost flinched. But instead of looking at him, Kakashi noticed that he was looking at the sky. Above him, there was a swirl of dark clouds. His eyes flicked back into the room only to find the man gone. It didn't take him very long to find the man again. He followed. Jellal stood in the middle of a forest clearing. Now the man had multiple staffs strapped to his back, one staff in his hand. What was this black cloud? It looked dangerous. There were no enemy ninja, and Jellal seemed like he was going to fight this black cloud with nothing but a weird looking staff.

As a ninja who fights to protect the village and its people, what should his next course of action be?





Attempt to protect the man because he is also a resident in Konohagakure, no matter how short his residence has been.


Watch from the trees. If it starts to get dangerous, make a tactical retreat.

The black swarm hovered above Jellal's head for a moment longer before it started to grow. In one swift motion, the man plunged the staff in his hands into the ground. The next thing Kakashi saw was a circle of light appearing in front of the man. He surmised that this was the jutsu that the others have witnessed. From what he observed, this was not an ordinary jutsu, if it was even a jutsu at all. It was peculiar, but what the man did seemed to have an effect on the black cloud. The black cloud pulsed, shrinking and enlarging itself, until it disappeared with a quiet boom. Kakashi's attention was fully drawn to the man again when he groaned in disappointment. He followed the man as he stalked back to his apartment, watching the man like a hawk as he mulled over what to do next. Although this was an intelligence gathering mission, he was given permission to engage in conversation as long as he posed as a regular citizen.

Anbu Operative DOG has found that the man to use an unusual "jutsu" and eliminated a seemingly dangerous entity. Should Kakashi pose as a citizen to gather more information? Or should Kakashi report back to the Hokage and wait for further instructions?
