Murasumi Shou

The alarm went off, ringing its usual annoying sound that could even burst his eardrums if he was laying too close. His eyes slowly opening however as he had gotten used to it. Almost that is. His hand reaching out for the object and slapping it to a silence. Sitting up in his bed or otherwise he would’ve gone right back to sleep. He was not a morning person at all, he needed time to wake up so living alone was doing him good. He didn’t need to listen to the nagging of somebody nor did he have to stumble over their stuff which would make his mood even worse. Stretching out his arms before searching for his glasses which were laying on his night table, right where he had left them. It was not that he was blind when he didn’t have them on, he just needed to focus more and when seeing into the distance, it would become quite blurry. So he preferred wearing them just for the sake of his eyes. Also, he was pretty good looking in glasses if he had to say so himself.

Eventually he shuffled towards the bathroom where he took a relaxing shower of about fifteen minutes before doing the rest of his routine. All in all a good half hour would do the trick to get him ready in general. With a fresh feel he went down the stairs and into the kitchen to make himself breakfast. Deciding to make a Tenderstem and Smoked Salmon Omelette since he had some fish left and it had to be eaten soon. Killing two birds with a stone.

He heated the olive oil in a small frying pan and gently sautéed the Tenderstem and onion until it was softened and started to become golden. While they are cooking, he mixed together the cream cheese and chopped chives, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Once the butter was bubbling, he added the eggs. Swirling it around the pan, stirring around until the eggs are almost set. Spreading it until it covered the complete surface and left it for another minute. Spooning the onion and Tenderstem onto one half of the omelette, adding the cream cheese and finally lay over the salmon. Tilting the pan so the omelette would carefully fold into two. He then slid it onto a plate and put some green salad to go with it.

The aroma of the dish filled the kitchen entirely which made him even more hungry. He took a glass of orange juice and started to eat the omelette while reading the newspaper on his cell phone. Music playing in the background as otherwise it would be too silent for him. The cheese leaving a rich flavour while the salmon and salad were rather refreshing. His eyes going over the pieces of text but nothing interesting made him want to read the whole article. Soon enough he went over to the reviews of customers who had visited his café and most of them seemed to be pretty good. The place was both loved by male and female customers which was his actual goal. Also the food seemed to be in their taste. Though he might need to look into the recipe of the banana parfait as it seems to be too heavy for most people.

Once his breakfast was finished, he put everything in the dishwasher and went out of the house, locking the door carefully since the last thing he wanted was to be robbed. Hopping onto his motorcycle [Deus Grievous Angel], which was way too expensive but he bought it anyway, and drove to the Mabu Café about 15-20 minutes away from his home. The sound of the motor felt good, there was not that much traffic on the road which was pretty unusual but that more fun. Within a short time, he parked on the spot reserved for employees in the back, helmed under his arm and walking inside towards the dressing room [for males]. It was best to keep them separate for obvious reasons.

Being one of the first mostly left him with some time to check everything up. Putting on his working outfit which resembled that of an actual butler. They were available in black and grey. The females had more options to choose from as they were in several colours.

First of all going into the kitchen to make sure everything was clean, but since he was on duty previously it was spotless. Not like other times when he forgot a spot here and there, making him clean in the morning as a result. Though the other employees were pretty neat themselves so he almost didn’t have anything to complain about. Which he would like to keep that way. Then he went into the front of the house and it was the same story. With that he sat down at one of the tables as there was still some time left before the opening of the store. He would help out both in the kitchen as in the front to keep himself busy. And that while keeping an eye on the customers and employees. Being a boss could be quite tiring if one had to ask.

FUJIWARA MIYUKI

Miyuki's father sat at the head of the long dining table, while her mother sat on his right and Miyuki on his left. Breakfast was a quiet affair, as usual, the only sound being the occasional soft clinking of their chopsticks. Miyuki finished her food, put her hands together and said quietly, "Thank you for the meal." Her mother looked up.

"You may leave now, if you need to, Miyuki," her mother said, giving her permission to leave the table. "You have classes, don't you?"

Miyuki bowed her head. "Yes, Mother. Thank you."

She went to her room, and got her things, making sure she didn't forget her books. While she didn't actually have morning classes, she would be heading to the university directly from the café in the afternoon. Once she was ready, she headed out to the foyer, passing the dining room on her way there.

"I'm leaving now," she said, bowed to her parents. Receiving nothing more than nods in return, she walked out of the house. Their family chauffeur was already waiting. She got into the sleek car, greeting the driver. "Nogizaka Station, as usual, please," she requested. The driver nodded, and within a couple of minutes, they arrived at the station. Actually, Miyuki could've just walked there, but her parents had insisted on using the car. They had already allowed her to take the train to university, under some strange form of leniency.

After that, it was a 4 minute train ride and a 13 minute walk to the café. She enjoyed these walks, especially in the morning air. She felt energized, and somehow refreshed. As she entered the café, she immediately saw the owner, Murasumi Shou, sitting at one of the tables. Quickly, she bowed at the waist. "Good morning, Mr. Murasumi," Why didn't she expect to see him? He was usually one of the first to arrive, after all. Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, she maintained her bow, hoping to hide her surely-reddening cheeks.

Tachiagari Kagayaku
Standing at a height of, 5'10" tall, Tachiagari doesn't exactly have an intimidating form. His slender body lacks the muscle mass that most people of his biological gender would have. A thin build gives him a weak appearance; narrow arms and long legs emphasize his meek form. Fine fingers are accented by short, well-cared for fingernails. His brown skin is smooth and soft, thanks to the concoctions he sometimes uses. Across the back of his shoulders, there is a light dusting of freckles that dot his skin. On his left knee, there is an old scar; a permanent reminder of his first time in heels

Life and biology have been kind to, Tachiagari. Over the years, he has developed an androgynous face that allows him to pass as a man and a woman. A modest, shy jawline helps give shape to his soft face. Subtle, but present, Tachiagari’s cheekbones sit above a pair of healthy cheeks. These cheekbones also help to construct the soft, smooth shape of his head. Similar to his shoulders, Tachiagari’s face has a few freckles that cross from his left cheekbone to his right one. Straight, thin eyebrows, white in color are positioned over a pair of inviting eyes. Grey like clouds on a stormy day Tachiagari’s almond-shaped eyes are adorned by thick, long lashes that are white in color. A small, thin nose serves as the center of his face with a pair of full, plump, lips just below it. Big, shy ears hide close to Tachiagari’s head and are usually covered by his hair.

White like the first snow, Tachiagari’s hair sprawls down from his head and spans a length of 30 inches. The thick waves of hair are usually kept down but he does wear it back when he's busy and up in the summer.

Tachiagari has a voice that one would expect to find on a singer and the skill that comes with it. His is soft and warm, and he usually speaks in a tone that matches. When he is out of school uniform Tachiagari dresses in light colors, dresses, and other loose-fitting clothes.

“Mama! Wake up, wake up!” The sound of birds singing used to wake Tachiagari in the most beautiful way, just as the sun was coming up over the hills and illuminating the village. That was years ago however. Now he and his husband had two children that woke them from much needed sleep, and in a somewhat unpleasant manner. More often than not Tachiagari was the first one awake, but sometimes a few extra minutes were required. This time he forgot to lock the bedroom door though and now had been besieged by small hands that grabbed at his face and hair. “Lucian...that hurts.” Tachiagari’s grey eyes opened and he stared tiredly at the youngest boy, who was caught red-handed with a fist full of white hair.

“Ohaiyo gozaimasu.” The three of them said in unison, bowing their heads to one another before Tachiagari laid his hand atop Micah’s head. The eldest son was much calmer than his younger brother and had made it a habit to stand beside the bed rather than in it. “Let’s go downstairs and eat, yeah?” The children raced off through the small two-story home and Tachiagari threw his head back down on to the pillows. Beside him the bed was empty and he exhaled heavily, but with no time to dwell on his husband’s absence he forced himself out of bed and headed downstairs wrapped in a silk robe. Right away he set to cooking breakfasts; okonomiyaki, with meat excluded as they were a vegetarian household, and a glass of milk for each of them. While the boys ate he continued to work in the kitchen, chewing up a mediocre salad bento for both of them, along with some fresh apple slices from the nearby farms. The lunches were packed and wrapped in the signature sunflower fabric and then set aside.

After Micah promised to clean the kitchen, Tachiagari rushed to the back of the house to get cleaned up. Luckily someone had heated up the water and left it ready for him. What was usually a 20 minute shower was cut short when the four year old came to the door and complained about wanting to stay home today. It was the same routine everyday and the longer it took them to leave, the more likely a tantrum would occur. So Tachiagari abandoned the comfort of the warm water and the lavender fragrance that had filled the bathroom, then rushed to get dressed. “Micah! Clothes please!” He called to the eight year old from his bedroom. He could trust Micah to get Lucian and himself dressed, he knew how to handle his younger brother. Once all three of them were finally clothed, they grabbed their lunches, slipped into the sandals, and headed out the door. Living out in the country they knew everyone in the village, so Tachiagari didn’t bother to lock the door as they raced to the neighbor’s house and arrived just in time to catch a ride to the train.

“Arigato gozaimashita!” The three of them said as they bowed their heads to the elderly women while she drove away. “Hands.” Right away Lucian and Micah put their hands in Tachiagari’s and he took them into the train station where they arrived just on time to catch the train to Tokyo. Micah pointed out two empty seats and the family quickly filled them, Lucian seated in Tachiagari’s lap. The train ride was a little under two hours long and on days like these, where they had deprived him of his extra minutes of sleep, Tachiagari caught up on his sleep on the train. The other two were silent as well, mainly because Lucian followed in his mother’s footsteps while Micah was captivated by the scenery. At eight o'clock they arrived to the city, right on schedule, and their first destination was school. A cab ride there, and emotional and prolonged goodbye from their mother, and then a long walk to the café. Tachiagari arrived to the back door of the café with time to spare.

“Ohaiyo.” He whispered to no one in particular as he entered the building. He knew that if anyone was here it would be the boss, so even though he didn’t see the taller man, he knew he wasn’t alone. Tachiagari went to the changing room, mens’, and proceeded to change into the (Yuu) white uniform with his hair getting tied up into a neat bun. A pink bow adorned his hair, holding the many strands in place and adding just enough color to keep the outfit from looking too lifeless. “Murasami-san?” Tachiagari called softly as he entered the front of the business and looked around for the owner. He smiled when he spotted both the red-haired man and another co-worker. “Good morning Miyuki-san, Murasami-san.”

Kardinal’s eyes shot open to his phone alarm. Nothing like heavy metal to wake you up at 5:00 am. He grabbed his phone and threw it across the room, the music fading away followed by a soft thud. He shoved his pillow over his head.
After a half hour of moping and whining, Kardinal finally actually got out of bed. A 5:30 alarm went off on his phone, which was buried in a heap of dirty clothing. Well, he didn’t get get up so much as roll. He was ready to roll out of bed.
The red-head’s uniform was sprawled across the floor and he proceeded to change into the suit and tie and stare at the ceiling, daydreaming. Another alarm went off on his phone, muffled but still audible.
The reason Kardinal had so many alarms is the fact he couldn’t just have one. He had to have time to mope around and daydream. If only his mother knew that while raising him.
He abruptly sat up and jumped to his feet. Making his way into the kitchen, he grabbed some bread from the loaf ,which was already cut from the night before (again, all necessary.) and chucked it into the toaster. He then opened the fridge and rummaged around inside. After a moment, he pulled out a massive tub of snickers ice-cream. By the time he managed to get it open, the toast popped up. He scooped the holy concoction onto the toast and dumped the tub back into the freezer. Kardinal made questionable culinary choices but his breakfast takes the cake. Ice-cream on toast. How man wasn’t already dead was a medical mystery.
After shoving it in his mouth, he grabbed his red super-dry bag and headed out the door.
While on the subway, Kardinal thought about the day ahead and sighed. “Please just be regulars, please just be regulars.” He muttered to himself. His eyes found a small child, who was staring at him from across the carridge. He leant his head on the pole and the child nodded and looked away. She got it. At least, he thought she did. She might just have lost intrest. She probably did. Damn, he wasn’t feeling great. Must be the snickers.

He arrived at his station and sauntered down the block. The café was only a block away from the station.
Kardinal’s eyes lit up as he headed towards the back door. They always did. He loved his job. The red-head ran full force at the door, shouldered it open, rolled and jumped to his feet. “I’m early, Mura-kun!” He went to the changing room and opened his locker. “Finally, jeez.” He mumbled as he pulled out a black top hat. He was rather fond of it and had left it here the night prior.
He wandered towards the front of the building and instantly spotted his three co-workers, “Well hello, you beautiful people!” He wandered up to them, “somebody owes me 100 ¥ because I,” He gleefully gestured to himself, “Got to this fine establishment early!” He crossed his arms, “I have witnesses.” His low sing-song voice was extra bouncy. Probably the snickers. The poor man still had a smear of ice-cream on his cheek.

Unuma Kaede
The sound of birds singing filled her room at exactly 7:00 AM. Of course it wasn’t natural tweeting, as much as she wished. Although there was one time that a real bird managed to sneak its way into her small apartment while her back was turned towards the open window. What a nightmare that was. The alarm reminded her of that incident every morning. Maybe she should change it. But the tune was always successful in driving her out of bed every morning.

She had a love-hate relationship with the morning. On one hand, the crisp air and quiet made it great for her early morning runs. On the other, it was early. She remembered being in high school; able to stay up all night and easily get up for school the next morning. If she did that now, she would be too tired to put on her typical act for customers. She loved her job, but it was exhausting sometimes. Some customers loved her for her outgoing, ultra energetic and bubbly attitude. She would talk to them about pretty much everything. If she didn’t know anything about the subject, she would listen intently and try to remember it for next time they came in. That persona wasn’t 100% an act, but definitely an exaggeration.

Her eyes still closed, she reached for her phone to turn off the now annoying singing. After getting dressed in running shorts, a graphic tee, and a light jacket, she was ready to go. Besides brushing her teeth, she really didn’t do much before her morning run. Eating before made her nauseous and her hair would be destroyed by wind anyways. She would fix herself before work. The run was pretty much autopilot. She always went the same routes and saw pretty much the same people. An older woman walking her toy poodle, a few men dressed in neat suits on their way to the train station.

Returning home, she immediately jumped into the shower. She didn’t have time to relax before she had to leave to work. It took her about 45 minutes to get ready, washing and drying her hair. She styled her hair in its typical fashion - in a high ponytail and the remaining hair curled and resting on her shoulders. Neatly packing her lavender uniform away in a backpack, she grabbed her keys and left the complex.

Kaede’s bike was dark green and old. But it had never failed her in the past. She didn’t have money for a car and was pushing off even buying a new bike. She would ride it until it literally fell apart. It was convienent that the cafe was close enough to ride a bike to. It was one of the reasons she initially put in an application. She never had to worry about buying train tickets (she didn’t ride the train enough to warrant a pass) and have to adjust her schedule to even catch a train.

It was only about a 10 minute ride to the cafe. Parking her bike in the back, she chained it to a nearby light post. She spotted Murasumi’s bike parked in his usual spot. Being the owner, it was a given that he would be the first there. Who else would be there? Besides Marusumi, Gaki should be there at some point. Entering through the back door, she headed straight for the changing room. After changing into her uniform, she smoothed out what wrinkles there were in her skirt before heading towards the front.

Kaede noticed the small gathering in the front of the store. “Hello everyone!” She greeted, a bright smile on her face. “Oh wow, I didn’t expect you to be here this early, Gaki. Saving some ice cream for later I see?” She teased Kardinal, letting out a giggle at the smear of white on his cheek.

FUJIWARA MIYUKI

Seeing that everyone else had changed into their uniforms, Miyuki figured she should probably do so too. She bowed to those that had just arrived. "Good morning, Mr. Kagayaku, Mr. Gaki, Miss Unuma, and Miss Johnson," she said. "I apologize, but excuse me for a while. I need to go change into my uniform,"

She headed to the changing room, and retrieved her uniform from her locker. She never dared to bring her uniform back home; it was too risky. Quickly, she changed into it. Her uniform was one of the simplest among all the café's maids, consisting of just a black dress that reached her knees with none of the usual white trim, and a white half apron with minimal ruffles. Pulling on her stockings, she slipped on a pair of black kitten heels. The only accessory she wore was a 1 cm thick black lace choker. She tied her hair in a half updo, and exited the changing room to rejoin the others.

"Is there anything special that we need to know for today?" she asked, her question directed to Murasumi, although the others were free to answer as well.

Murasumi Shou

Soon after he sat down, the door of the shop went open, revealing long black hair with ruby red eyes. Fujiwara Miyuki. She had a petite frame which made him want to protect her from all kinds of evil in the outside world but since that would seem creepy he refrained himself from doing so. The mere thought of having the police after him send the shivers down his spine. Mainly because he had been through that already and was even falsely accused… Luckily the misunderstanding was cleared up within a few hours and he was let go off. What was it again? A theft? And just because he was at the wrong place and at the wrong time [insert yakuza looks as well], he got chased after. It was quite a day, he even had to leave the shop in the hands of an employee since he was stuck at the police station.

“Good morning, Miyu-chan.” He responded to her with a gentle smile. Some would be shocked to see this expression on his face but so where most customers at the beginning. It could be annoying at times but since he didn’t want to change his appearance just for people’s convenience, he accepted his faith.

After that, employee number two entered the building. The white haired guy dressed in the female uniform which nobody would even question by the way he looked. He didn’t really mind since some of his friends were queer, gay or just transsexual so he had gotten used to the sight and their mindset. Hell, he wasn’t completely saint either as he had lovers from both genders before, he just didn’t feel the need to scream it from the rooftops. If they found out about it, he wouldn’t deny it either since he didn’t see why he would even need to do that. One of the positives about Shou one would say. ”Good morning, Tac-chan.” He greeted him.

The next one was pretty mind-blowing as this was the sole person who he didn’t expect to be on time. Eyes growing wide as the figure stood in the front of the house, staring at him in utter disbelief. ”Today you won’t need to stay late. If only you would do this every day you work…” He said with a glistening smile, almost provokingly even. Well, he was really happy that this guy was on time though, it just felt like a shock. Something that he didn’t expect to happen anytime soon. Some people would have fired him already but Shou saw potential and couldn’t just let him go.

Onto Kaede who was just a ball of energy. She came in with the brightest smile of them all which had become something like her signature. Something that the customers recognized the moment they would waltz in. Her bike however made him wonder about something: when the thing would finally fall apart. It would be sad though to not see the green old bike anymore but still. He didn’t want her to get hurt since it didn’t look stable at all. When she mentioned the stain of ice cream on Gaki’s face, only then he noticed it as well. Again, blame the shock for that.

Last but not least, it was Ellie’s turn to enter and there she was. She was pretty good at serving customers and the way she talked to them. It was nice to see. Perhaps she was used to taking care of people which was why she was such a natural talent at first. It was interesting to see her become better and better at it.

After greeting everyone, he stood up from his seat and patted his clothes so they wouldn’t be crumpled. Cracking his knuckles and neck. ”Let’s make it a good day today. Try not to mess up too much and if you need help, just call for me. The usual.” He said when Miyuki returned from the dressing room. Nodding at the question she then asked. ”The banana parfait will be removed for now since it’s no good. Inform the customers about that when they ask for it. Also, if you have any ideas to improve the parfait or have a better idea, do let me know. That’d be it.” He commented, clapping his hands before opening the door of the shop. There was no line waiting to get in which was one of the advantages of opening at a Tuesday when people were at work or school. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday however were the busy days.

One after another, like little ducks all in a line, the other employees started to show up to the restaurant. Tachiagari stood off to the side so that she wasn’t blocking the path, but she watched with a blissful smile as her coworkers showed up. They were such a diverse group and perhaps it was because of her age, but she found them all to be so refreshing. That joy was fleeting however as upon her departure, Miyuki-san addressed Tachiagari as a man. A wide smile stretched across Tachiagari’s face and she bowed her head. While Miyuki wasn’t wrong and addressing Tachiagari as such was fine, she just hadn’t expected to hear it so soon in the day, especially not when her children just finished addressing her as mama. Tachiagari sighed, letting the jab to the heart sink in while trying to forget it. Her eyes went to the other workers and she couldn’t help but chuckle when it was announced that Gaki had ice cream on his face. Oddly enough the waiter reminded Tachiagari of her youngest son, which might not be a compliment, but she couldn’t help but to compare the two.

“Gaki-san.” Tachiagari called as she pulled a handkerchief from her pant pocket. She approached the slightly younger waiter and held it out for him to take. She worried that like Lucian he might get rid of the ice cream in an unbecoming manner, so she had to try and steer him away from that choice.

When it was announced that they’d be removing an item from the menu temporarily, Tachiagari pouted. It was never good when a recipe didn’t do well. Her eyes followed Murasumi to the doors and she inhaled deeply as they were pulled open. They were officially starting the work day, but luckily the shop was in good condition already. “Good luck today everyone.” Tachiagari wished in a soft voice. Of everyone here she was the one with no prior experience so really she needed the luck, but with help from the others she had gotten the hang of things and was getting better still.

Kardinal ran a hand through his hair, coaxing out the knots. He took the handkerchief from the woman, “Oh Kagayaku-san, it’s as if you were my own mother!” He chuckled and scrubbed at his cheek, “Thank you!” He carefully draped the handkerchief over her head, “perfect!” He clapped his hands together and turned to Murasumi. He pouted, “But I always make it a good day.” Kardinal huffed and crossed his arms, “I bring 110% and you know I do.” He slumped, “Except when I’m, y’know, late.” He mumbled. The red-head straightened and plunked the top hat on his head. The red-head wore his outfit like a school boy. Top buttons undone, tie loosened. He had a reputation of being the mischievous one of the butlers. The customers ate it up so he played along.

FUJIWARA MIYUKI

Murasumi opened the doors, and the customers began to trickle in. Miyuki picked and approached a customer at random. It wasn't one of their regulars, so the young man didn't seem to know any of the maids or butlers by name.

"Welcome home, Master," Miyuki bowed low. "How many people are in your party?"

"It's just me,"

"I understand, Master, please follow me to your table," she said, and sat him at a table near a window before handing him a menu. "Would you like to order a drink, or would you just like water for now?" she asked. The man quickly surveyed the menu, his expression unsure. "Um, uh, I'll have a cappuccino?" This was probably his first time in a maid and butler café. "Your order has been received. Please take your time to browse through our menu," Miyuki replied, smiling gently to ease his uncertainty. It seemed to work, and he visibly relaxed, his shoulders dropping slightly. He leaned back into the low armchair. "Thank you," he beamed gratefully, and went back to looking at the menu.

Miyuki went to the kitchen to place the order. "One cappuccino, please," she called.

Being awoken by an ear piercing alarm was one thing, being awoken by a toddler screming her ear off was quite another. Although she had a small two bedroom apartment in Tokyo, it was still rather impressive how clear the young voice rang out from down the other end of the complex. Eri swung her feet out of bed and into her slippers and shuffled down the hallway, through the living area and into the second bedroom witch contained an assortment of baby toys, some toddler books and flash cards and right in the middle on a fluffy blue rug was a cot containing a very agitated young baby with snot running down her cheeks. "Little Sun-mi, up bright and early I see" She muttered to herself as she checked her phone for the time. it was 4am... FOUR AM! No wonder her ex had split, this whole mother thing was an absolute nightmare. She picked the toddler up and carried her, still screaming, into the kitchen where she placed her down in the little high chair she'd imported from china for next to nothing. In fact all of her furniture was cheap, and second hand apart form her bedroll and her nice, fancy coffee machine which she had been given as a birthday gift from her best friend Nobuo about a year ago. He was coming around today in another couple hours to look after Sun-mi as her regular baby sitter was sick today. Eri wished she didn't have to work full time, but she wouldn't be able to provide for her new family if she didn't. Besides, she couldn't imagine being somewhere not surrounded by beautiful edible things everyday. She has loved everyone of her jobs because of how lovely it felt to serve people things that she has made. Even if it was fast food it didn't bother her too much, although she was often caught trying to change the recipe, or bring in fresh produce to use to make it better.

She presented the squealing toddler with her breakfast, then began to make herself a strong coffee in the silence that followed as the baby devoured the food. This kid was as in love with food as she was, it seemed. Eri couldn't help but smile when she watched her daughter eat. "There you go, happy now eh?" She said in Korean. She had always been closer to her Korean mother than her strict and stoic japanese father. Her daughter was named after her mother, with a light variation. Her mothers name was Su-mi, similar but unique. Her japanese was perfect of course, but at home she preferred to speak a mix of both languages. She wished to move back to Korea, but she didn't want the hassle of packing up and leaving whilst her daughter was still small. Maybe before Sun begins school she will think about it.

Her coffee was just right, not too strong, not too weak. She sipped at it lazily before going to her fridge and preparing herself a bowl of seasonal fruit and some toast with margarine. When she was done she let Sun-mi down from her chair and ambled over to her living room to spend the rest of the morning reading a book and passing time. Finially it came time to get ready for work and hand Sun-mi over to Nobuo for the day. She showered, got dressed in the navy blue female uniform, and waited for her friend to call on the intercom. But his call never came, though she waited. When he was running more than 10 minutes late she called him "C'mon I have to go to work..." She muttered under her breath.

Truth is she wasn't the best employee in terms or reliability sometimes. She'd had to call of work when the sitter calls off work because she had no family here in Tokyo, she has to miss work altogether sometimes when Sun-mi is sick and she needs to take her to Doctor Yamamoto. Sometimes she will need to take a call from the babysitter when she has a question. But Eri was VERY good at her job, and absolutly pours her heart into ever coffee, every desert and every tart she serves. She is always looking to get better and work harder and is full of ideas about the menu. It's her eye for detail that has probably led her to keep a job all these years, despite the trouble little Sun-mi caused her.

Nobuo arrived a good TWENTY FIVE minutes late because he apparently ran late leaving his 'Lady-friend's' place this morning. On her mad rush to the train she called her boss, hoping he would answer her and wasn't busy with another customer. At this rathe she had already missed her first train and the second one would make her 10-15 minutes late depending on how quickly she could run from the station to the cafe. "Hello-Hello, I am SO sorry I am running late because my friend was late to come look after Sun-Mi! I cannot appoligise enough!" She said to either her boss or to his answering machine, her voice was breathless as she was running at the time" How could she be so late when she was up so early!?

Finially when she arrived the first few customers were already seated. She entered though the back door right into the kitchen and looked for Murasumi. He had just returned from opening the store it seemed. At least Eri was dressed already "Gomenasai!" She told him, bowing her head slightly, knowing this wasn't her first mad rush into the store after a difficult morning with Sun-Mi. Her kitchen staff were holding the fort of course, they were not very busy today, as it was a work-day. "I will begin right away unless there is anything I need to know Murasumi-sama" She asked him, polite and formal as usual around her boss.

Unuma Kaede

Kaede hung back, watching Fujiwara take care of the customer that had wandered in. Although she only started a year after Kaede, she felt protective over the girl. Sometimes customers could be rude or overall a pain. Since it was still early enough in the day that business was slow, she was able to take glances at Fujiwara while cleaning the already spotless tables. A slight smile spread across her face. Fujiwara would be able to take care of herself. It shouldn't surprise Kaede. Fujiwara always seemed like she did just fine.

She straightened up when she heard the soft chime of bells signaling a new customer. Looking over she shoulder, she saw two middle aged men who frequented the cafe. They typically came in on their lunch breaks at least for a cup of coffee if not more.

"Welcome home, Masters!" Kaede greeted excitedly with a quick bow. "Just two today?" There had been a couple days that the businessmen brought in a bigger group, probably coworkers, but it was typically just the two. After leading them to an open table, she reached in her apron pocket for the small notebook full of past orders. "The usual?" She asked, "Two cups of coffee; cream and sugar on the side?" The two men nodded before one spoke up. "I'd like the egg sandwich too."

"Of course, Master! That'll be right up!" Kaede kept up her cheerful demeanor, practically skipping towards the kitchen until she was sure the customers couldn't see her. Stopping by the kitchen, she sang out, "One egg sandwich, please!~" Her next stop was the small coffee pot. She poured coffee into two cute and colorful mugs. It was a little disappointing whenever someone ordered just plain coffee. One of her favorite parts of the job was getting to decorate whipped cream with chocolate syrup. She had pretty much mastered drawing a cat, but she was still working on flowers. Kaede wasn't the greatest at drawing but she loved it. At home, she had a sketchpad filled with her childlike drawings. She would never show anyone though. She would be far too embarrassed at how terrible they were.

Murasumi Shou

Once the start of the day was indicated, everyone got into their place pretty quick. Showing their professional attitude towards the customers once they got inside. One of the chefs seemed to be late today, luckily it wasn’t too busy so the one in the kitchen didn’t have too much difficulties. Letting out a sigh as he would jump in whenever it was necessary as told before. He went to the back and sat down at one of the empty tables which were only used at busy days or when a customer would request to sit at this place. Taking out some documents and a ballpoint as he started to go over all the information that was written down. The sales, the recipes, the popularity of the café, etc. It was all important to keep track on so he would know whenever something needed to be changed or just plainly removed. He could only improve since he started with nothing. That was what he thought. There had been a major set-back in the beginning though but he managed to overcome it with a huge amount of effort. Also the employees didn’t notice much that time as he was pretty good at putting on a poker face.

After about half an hour, he was distracted by a voice that was coming from somewhere near him. Seeing that it was the missing chef, he blinked a couple of times into her direction. ”You see, Gaki isn’t the best example for being on time so you don’t need to copy him.” Shou said with a serious face but couldn’t hold back a smile as he was glad that she still came. ”How come you were late? And the banana parfait won’t be sold anymore since it doesn’t fall into taste with most customers as it is too heavy. If you have any ideas to improve it or have another item in mind, I would like to hear about it.” He told her. ”That’s it.” With that said, he went back to reviewing and scribbling down some notes on the documents as he was pretty much at the end of going through it.

Fifteen minutes later, he finished and put everything back into place before going to the work floor again. Letting his head spin about possible items that he could put in the menu but nothing really made him want to eat it. An endless cycle all the while keeping an eye on everyone. Seeing that the maids were busy with their own customers, Shou decided to take one for himself since he was in fact just bored and had nothing useful to do at the moment. [b}”Welcome home, my ladies. My name is Shou and I will be your butler for today. Follow me to your table please.”[/b] He greeted them as if it was second nature to him. Grabbing three menus on his way and stopping somewhere in the middle. Stretching out his arm towards the table. Once they sat down in their respective seats, he handed out the menus, bowing lightly afterwards.

”If you have chosen, please do call for me and I will come to your aid. I hope you will have a nice time at this café.” He said with the most gentle smile he could muster on his lips. Stopping in his tracks however as he remembered something. ”Before I go, I must inform you that the banana parfait is no longer available. Therefore my sincerest apologies. But I am sure that the items on the menu will suit your taste perfectly.” He said, bowing another time into their direction before walking around again. Pouring some water in glasses here and there [which was free].

Not long after he saw one of the girls waving towards him, indicating that they had already chosen what they wanted. Two Melon Soda, one Sakura Tea, one Ichigo Daifuku, one Mont Blanc and one Castella. Bowing before making his way to the kitchen and placing the order in a nonchalant manner. Making the drinks in the meantime without much effort as he had gotten used to this completely. He didn’t even need to think about how to make everything anymore. It took only five minutes before the drinks were already on the table. Now only the food was left. Leaning against the counter to overlook the area, seeing lots of smiles on everyone’s face.

“Oh.” He softly sounded when he noticed that customers were arriving to the front doors. Early morning customers were Tachiagari’s favorite as they were far less lively than those that showed up later in the day. As other employees gathered their guests, Tachiagari did the same. When the next duo entered, he approached them and flashed a warm, inviting smile before bowing at the hips.

“Okaeri nasai.” He spoke with a hint of joy in his voice. The greeting warranted smiles from both guests and in a few seconds they were shown to their table by the white-haired butler. “The banana parfait is temporarily unavailable, and I’m very sorry about that.” He bowed his head, taking his apology to the next level, and then straightened up. Passing the gentlemen their menus Tachiagari then pulled out his notepad, which he kept neat and tidy, unlike some of the other employees. He opened to the first page, clean and new, and proceeded to write down the drinks which the two customers requested. “I will be right back.”

As he turned away and headed to the kitchen, he spotted Marusumi seated in the back at his usual table. It was impressive how he found time to help them and still handle the business portion of the restaurant. “Two cappuccinos please.” He requested before he turned around to look back at his section of the café. He had yet to build up any real regulars customers like his coworkers did, which was a bit frustrating to be honest. He thought he had been working pretty hard and remembering the things he learned by watching everyone else. When the bell was rung Tachiagari turned quickly and picked up the tray. “Arigato.” He whispered before heading back to his table. He needed to figure out a way to get people to come back and sit in his section, to become regulars.

FUJIWARA MIYUKI

Miyuki returned to the customer with the cappuccino. "Are you ready to order, Master?" she asked. The man nodded. "I think I'd like a shrimp filet sandwich? And an ichigo daifuku for dessert, please,"

"Understood, Master. Your order will be here shortly," she answered, giving him another gentle smile. The man returned it with a lopsided smile; it looked a little goofy somehow. "Thank you."

She went to place the order at the kitchen, and continued to serve other customers, greeting them all with a soft smile and a pleasant tone. As Miyuki worked, she couldn't help but sneak a glance at Murasumi every once in awhile. He seemed to be observing everyone as usual, even while waiting tables.

After awhile, the man that had come in at the beginning was done with his meal and ready to leave. Before getting up, he hesitated. "Is there something wrong, Master?" she questioned. "Ah, no, it's just...May I know your name, please?" the man said, his cheeks flushing. "You may call me Miyuki, Master," Miyuki said politely. "Oh, I see...It's a pretty-ah, no, I mean...Pleased to meet you, Miyuki-san," the man bowed awkwardly. Miyuki giggled lightly. "The pleasure is all mine, Master."

After the man had left, Miyuki noticed that there was a slight lull in customers. She glanced over at Murasumi. Usually, Miyuki did not approach her employer without good reason, but...she was feeling a bit bolder today. So she shyly made her way to him with a glass of water she had gotten from the kitchen. "Uh, um, Murasumi-san, please refresh yourself with this," she said, holding out the glass to him. "Is it tiring? Managing the store, waiting on tables, even helping in the kitchen, all while keeping an eye on us?" she asked, both out of curiosity and genuine concern.
