Past. (wip) Ellis is from a working-class family who have always struggled for money - his parents were reluctant to support his ambition to go to university as no one in the family had attempted it before. However, Ellis has always done remarkably well at school, and with encouragement from his teachers and the eventual support of his Mum and Dad, managed to get into one of London's best universities for an undergraduate Politics and International Relations degree. He is now going into his second year of university, having breezed through the first. Throughout his life Ellis has worked through his sexuality, often keeping his feelings towards men to himself - he has always been concerned about explaining that he still found women attractive, and feels as though he could never come out to his family. University has given him ample opportunity to explore his sexuality, but he is still uneasy on the issue.
