On January 1st, 3000, Earth was destroyed in a blinding flash of light, consuming billions of lives in an instant. Devastated by the shockwave and the impacting debris of what little remained of humanity's home world, it's orbiting terraformed moon, the gateway to the stars for their species, plunged into anarchy as the placebo evacuation efforts of the Colonies were exposed as the lie it was all along, having only been initiated in the first place in order to save a select few individuals who were arbitrarily deemed important enough to warrant an extraction off world. Nearly two decades later, the moon, now considered a planet in it's own right with the absence of Earth, is on the precipice of becoming uninhabitable once more due to the prolonged neglect of already severely damaged life-sustaining infrastructure irreplaceable domestically.
That's where you come in. The Colonies have recently reestablished contact with Luna in light of the coming apocalypse, offering to throw the considerable weight of their accumulated knowledge and industry behind any group interested in self-preservation as to allegedly prevent the now nearly irreversible loss of yet another planet. You, and three others, have together decided to digitally sign a legally binding contract of a duration of one year, although whether your intentions for doing so are to save Luna itself, secure a promised fresh start in the comparatively civilized Colonies, or to receive enough armaments and wealth to never have to worry about the question of survival again, is anyone's guess. Too bad your competition isn't all that interested in sharing the rewards with you...
