That one thing from the other day
Power
Power has existed in many forms in the world, wealth, influence, physical might. but in 1947 it began to take a far more tangible form. as it turned out the scientific processes of artificially splitting the atom sort of broke the universe in an odd way. the sudden loss of so many people paired with the vast energy created a psychic singularity which interwove our world with the abstract realm of thoughts known as the Astral plane. The result was beings known as Psyches began to be born, people able to harness the psychic energies permeating the world and shape them into unique abilities. These people were at first though of as massive threats and imbalances to the security of the world and the nuclear arms race known as the cold war was replaced by a race between Russia and the united states to develop the largest Psyche army they could muster. sadly this war did not stay cold and millions perished in the conflict which would last eight years from 1969 to 1977. however the end of the war was far from the end of the worlds troubles. the rest of the world was scared into banding their Psyches together, which would later include remaining Russian and American psyches, while their initial function was to prevent war they wound up realizing they were the most powerful force in the world and chose to use that power in order to subjugate and control the planet forming a group called the Guardians.
Control
The Guardians would overthrow and tear down all governments within the first few weeks of launching their campaign, all the nations military's fell before them and the countries were united under their banner of conquest. upon establishing control they stripped natural rights from people and built a system where normal humans were considered an underclass of laborers and servants. meanwhile Psyches were split into various sub-factions based upon their abilities with varied levels of importance, from being barely considered above a normal human, to being considered one of the ruling class. the higher ones class the more rights and authority they have, those at the top can kill any below them with no consequences. needless to say people wouldn't stand for that for long, occasionally riots would rise up and all were crushed beneath the mighty heel of the ruling class. however during the last rebellion those who fought to destroy the system set up by the Guardians made a desperate assault whose effects are just beginning to be felt. Using the research from the bombs dropped on Hiroshima paired with advances in science the rebel faction managed to craft a far stronger hydrogen bomb that they opened their assault with. waiting until the meeting of the Ruling Psyches they bombed the entire ruling party managing to kill three of the twelve so called "Kings and Queens". while the rebellion was crushed the effects produced by the first bomb were many times more drastic.

Many who were born human became Psyches, with several new and very powerful Psyches being born in the modern era. Suddenly despite all their efforts, the Guardians control over the worlds power was beginning to wane. Now in 2021 those Psyches have begun to reach adulthood and people are beginning to rise up against the Guardians all over the world. The guardians respond with force in every occasion and in many they crush the foe just as they always have, but in many worrying cases persistent foes have actually felled the guardians and required backup to put them down. with the guardians grip loosening on the world a mysterious benefactor has begun recruiting powerful Psyches and equipping them with the best training and gear money can buy and prepping them to combat the Guardians. Will the world be free of the oppressive rule of the self proclaimed Guardians of earth, or will they be crushed beneath their heel like all the rest?
(So this rp is gonna be a free form sandbox rp where you can play as literally any role you wish. i just ask that you don't play children below 11 years of age, or any characters born before 1946. other than that you can be a Guardian, a Psyche who has been in the cast system their whole life, a human who has lived as the lowest class and suddenly has the powers of a psyche and can fight back, hell even a normal human who never got a power but wants to fight can be doable. i'm available to answer any questions and will get a character sheet and lore page with a timeline up by tomorrow night. there is no character creation limit as long as you use them and i will be joining in as the mysterious benefactor and a few other characters i have planned but they will likely be expendables made to beef up the story if need be. i'm open to any plot suggestions if you have them and players are more than welcome to come up with their own story arcs if they want.)
