Quirk

Kayo's quirk is called 'Dream State'. She envelopes a 30 foot radius in a dark, smoke like cloud that can project images and sensations through chemical inhalation. She is also included in this cloud and experiences what she projects.

When enveloped in the smoke, after inhaling, Kayo is able to project things to every person in the cloud, however she can only project the same thing to everyone. She will induce hallucinations featuring tactile, auditory, and visual, but she has not yet learned to cause gustatory or olfactory hallucinations. With this fact, she tries to plan around someone not being able to taste or smell. If the hallucination features heavy amounts of blood or smoke, she will ensure they're far enough away that not smelling things like that would make sense. She also makes her hallucinations more maze like to avoid people falling out of the cloud.

This, however, does present an issue given that Kayo's quirk is heavily related to emotions. If Kayo is upset, the hallucinations will play into her fears and worries more, until she is unable to handle it and ends up creating a sensory deprivation vaccuum. However, this causes her to be even worse off, as she is terrified of the dark. In the end, she will end up working herself into a tizzy trying to calm herself down, only to overwork her quirk and exhaust her. This also applies to extreme happy emotions, as instead of scary hallucinations, she will create happy ones. An enjoyable life, a beautiful feild, everything.

One of the parts of her quirk that goes unexplored is the fact she is able to mess with people's brains using chemicals. An example would be her accidentally erasing her grandfather's pain while he was in her dream state. This is something neither she nor her parents truly thought to use much outside of emergency situations, given it is a temporary state.

Personality

Kayo's outward personality could best be described as 'weird'. She's constantly zoned out, has a monotonous and flat voice, and generally dresses in a messy manner. She doesn't seem to care much for how other's view her, but she is friendly. She also has a tendency to be far too blunt for her own good, especially when she's simply trying to help.

With her quirk heavily leaning into her emotions, she keeps herself generally numbed to most things. The only things that have managed to get her to break this facade have been cats, her grandfather's death, and the times Mr. Aizawa has been hurt. She looks up to Aizawa in a number of ways, and seeing him hurt only reminded him of her grandfather.

Despite how she is, with her friends she tends to be incredibly affectionate and happy. She'll wrap her arms around her friends, get into their laps, and hold their hands. She tends to do this with anyone who's comfortable, especially when she finds more confidence in herself. While she particularly doesn't have issues with self esteem, her constant dealing with bullies due to her quirk has left her mildly sensitive to critique of her person.

Biography

Kayo was born in Musutafu, Japan, and raised by both her parents. Kayo is incredibly close with her father, who she shares quirks with, and looks up to him. He's an underground hero who works mainly on his own, though according to him, he knows Eraserhead, which only furthers Kayo's interest in Aizawa. Her mother is a chef in a restaurant, and while they aren't close, Kayo goes to her mother more often for emotional support, as she finds it hard to read her father's emotions.

As a child, Kayo was generally much more out going, excitable, and bouncy. She would interact with strangers much to her parents dismay, and would run up to hero's on the street. Before she got her quirk, she was much more like her mother and took pride in it. She never understood why her father was generally much more monotonous, but she still cared for him.

When her quirk came in, though, she began to understand. It would accidentally activate, and she would see things that scared her. Images of her apartment burning down led to her first real spiral, where she was left in her sensory deprivation state. Her father was the one who had to break her out of it, and by that time, she was traumatized by the experience and disliked her quirk. She slowly worked with her father to learn her quirk and learn how to handle her emotions, though that part of her quirk had left her with a slight distaste for her quirk.

It wasn't until she was around 10 that bullying began, though most of it was isolation. She was seen as having a villains quirk and was generally taunted behind her back, and while it did bother her, she held the emotions in. There were only a few physical altercations, most resulting in Kayo simply transferring schools. She tended to avoid people after those altercations, making herself as small as possible within schools.

When high school came around, Kayo opted to try for Yuuei as a way of testing her skills out. Surprisingly, she managed to squeak into 1-B, and has been there since. She is generally friendly with class, though she mostly keeps to herself. Surprisingly, she made good friend with Mei, as she didn't avoid helping her with her 'babies'. She finds 1-A incredibly interesting and, despite most of her class' distaste, wants to make friends with them further at some point.
