Name: Elspeth ‘Elsie’ McNaughton

Age: 15

Species: Selkie (Scottish creature that can change from seal to human by shedding their sealskin, but in order to turn back they have to keep their sealskin with them otherwise they’ll be stuck as a human longing for the sea)

Appearance: She has short creamy blonde hair that curves under her chin and frames her young face. Her nose and lips are small, but her eyes are large and bright blue like a curious child. She’s short and petite with long legs. She wears long flowing dresses and large coats or cardigans even during summer.

Abilities: Perfect human disguise; supernatural beauty; enhanced lung capacity, senses, agility and endurance; can dance tap, ballet and folk

Personality: She’s a sweetheart to all the students and always ready to help out anyone in need, but she has a bad past with adults so she’s wary of them. Despite being a generally curious child, she’s not very present in class because she gets bored easily and prefers to learn through experiencing rather than lecturing. There’s always a slightly wistful look on her face as she’s always dreaming of the sea and the things she‘ll do once she gets back there, not that would tell anyone about that. She was always a bit too detached from school life to make any real friends so she spends a lot of time alone, but she doesn’t mind it because she likes to daydream and come up with dances in her head.

Backstory:

Born on a Scottish island next to the coast, she was brought up under the sea with her seven siblings and single father away from the general human population, only coming above water for medical care or to participate in festivals as selkies love to dance. One fateful night when she was twelve years old, she was kidnapped from one of the festivals by people who intended to sell her because of the supernatural beauty only selkies possess.

Luckily, they were stopped before they could cross into the United Kingdom, but when the police rescued her and her father came to get herm they didn’t believe he was her father and thought he was just another one of the kidnappers. No matter how much she begged and screamed, she had the looks of her mother so they didn’t believe her. She was taken to an orphanage where she was adopted immediately by a couple who lived in the highlands, far away from the sea and her family.

They found out very fast that she was a selkie and took her sealskin away so she couldn’t transform back into a seal and leave them, unfortunately, that caused her to lash out at them. In a final effort to make her the daughter they always wanted, they sent her away to boarding school. Everyone was nice to her and she was nice to everyone but she never really clicked with anyone enough to become best friends so she does a lot of things alone.

Name: Nora Theisen
Age: 17
Species: Werecat/Shapeshifter

Appearance: Ginger hair, usually kept in a braid. Fair skin, an oval face, round brown eyes, rather thick eyebrows, quite a lot of freckles.
Dresses Casual, Highwaist jeans and sweatshirts/tees. (Will they have a school dress code/uniform or do they just dress however they want?)

Abilities: Can shapeshift into a domestic red cat. Can stay in an in-between state (human form but tail, ears, and slit pupils). Slightly better vision and agility in human form, in cat form same traits as a cat.

Personality: Insecure compensates with being Hardworking, Quite Controlled and quiet, which can make her appear unapproachable. Tries her best to be kind and open to everyone. Very affectionate with the people she cares about, very tactile.

Backstory: Growing up her parents discouraged her from everything related to her Werecat nature. She wasn't allowed to shift or talk about it. This lead to her controlling her powers rather fast, involuntary shifting because of excitement/anxiety/strong emotions doesn't happen unless it's a very stressful fight or flight situation. Nora went to a normal human school, and her parents never enclosed her species. She had normal human friends and was treated like a peer, but it made her very anxious and insecure because she knew first hand how her friends thought about her real nature. She's a straight A student, but only because of the validation she gets from her parents trough it. At her old school, she was part of the more popular group of girls. Going to get-togethers and parties, having a few boy and girlfriends, the relationships don't last very long, since she won't let them get to close. She's determined to keep her secret.

Appearance: Ashy grey skin, horns on her forehead, (tattoo like markings?), black eyes with yellow pupils, curly black hair, she's tall and fit
Abilities: possession of weak minded people for short periods of time, stronger and faster than humans, able to use magic
Personality: Manipulative in a subtle way so the people being manipulated don’t realize until it’s too late, always knows what she wants and is good at pep-talks

Background: Abused and mistreated most of her childhood left Scarlett with an extreme hatred for humans and a strong Us vs. Them Mentality, when she gains support for the first time from other supernatural creatures at school petty payback quickly turns into a longing for bloody revenge


Name: Alice Gallagher
Age: 16
Species: Half-Zombie Half-Human

Appearance: Dead sunken eyes, bad teeth, bad body smell, frail bones and skin
Abilities: Pretty much immortal unless you chop her head off, doesn’t feel much pain
Personality: A loner, complains a lot about her situation, doesn’t have many friends because she’s always negative

Backstory: Her mother was a human and her father was a zombie. She was born half and half and life was miserable for her, not only because she looked and smelt like death, but also because the zombies saw her father as a traitor and the humans saw her mother as a traitor, she doesn’t have anywhere to go. She wants to get revenge on her parents for giving birth to her knowing her life would be hell.


Name: Maddison ‘Maddie’ MacDonald
Age: 15
Species: Brownie

Appearance: Small and stout with long hair to cover her pointy ears
Abilities: Very capable and strong, knowledgeable, walk without making a sound
Personality: She’s hard-working and sweet, but easily offended and will pull pranks on anyone she thinks isn’t pulling their weight

Backstory: Her family are all brownies and worked for different people while they were asleep, receiving food and supplies to live for their efforts. She didn’t want to do that forever so her family decided to send her away to boarding school as a prank to show her how good she had it doing that job and not having to hide who she was. Now she’s stuck there for the entire year before her family would come and get her. She doesn’t hate her family, but she believes it to be a betrayal so she wants to prank the hell out of them to show them how it felt.

Age: 17
Species: Arachne

Appearance: Tall and lanky, gothic black hair and dark clothes, always glaring
Abilities: Poisonous fangs, can turn someone into an Arachne by biting them, make webs
Personality: She’s almost mute but when she does speak she’s cutting and cruel, she’s like a dark shadow in the corner, always watching everyone

Backstory: She was turned into an Arachne by a criminal who was never caught. Her parents and siblings are afraid of her so they sent her to boarding school so she wouldn’t turn them too if she got angry. She decided to train her abilities as much as possible so she could make the best of her situation and eventually turn her family to show them how bad it was for her and finally make them not afraid of her anymore.

Appearance: Half Human-half Bird, tall and skinny body, an ugly twisted face framed by flowing brown hair
Abilities: Able to fly
Personality: Rebellious and loud, everyone knows what her opinion is, very fiery and will snap at anyone who mocks her, even though it only makes it worse.

Background: Anna knows what she wants revenge for, the endless bullying because of her body and face.

Appearance: Short curly hair that’s greying, wears plaid pencil skirts and cardigans and carries a ruler with her everywhere
Subjects: English, Foreign Languages
Personality: Very strict, doesn’t let anyone talk or mess around in her class or its instant detention. Nobody likes her class except the few people she decided were good enough to be in her presence without being yelled at. She’s a very smart woman but everyone’s afraid of her.

Appearance: Young and pretty with long blonde hair, always wearing too much makeup, dresses in a t-shirt and jeans.

Personality: Fun and adventurous, almost like one of the children, doesn’t know how to enforce discipline so a lot of her lessons end up going off track, like a big sister to the girls

Appearance: Average build and build, brown hair usually tied up, mostly wears pants and blouses

Personality: She has a good balance between strict and casual teaching, while she won't be afraid to assign extra work as punishment she can also take a joke, all in all she's quite the popular teacher
