That Lass Over There
Constant Panic
- I'm here for the long run! I will tell you if I feel like I can't continue the RP anymore, and if I don't that means that I'm just temporarily away and will come back soon
- As evidenced by the need to state the above, I'm kind of bad with warning about when I have to take momentary leave... My life can be pretty turbulent, but I'll try to warn you if I do feel the need to focus on real life for a moment.
- Like I said, I'm here for the long run. I'm not looking to make some short burst of brilliance, I want a long lived tale that will pull at my heart as a writer and reader.
- I like playing females ^,^ (Actually, I pretty much exclusively play females.)
- FxF is the way to go if there is to be romance
- I don't require more than a post a week from you.
- I expect a minimum of quality, but any quantity works. If you can make high quality one-liners, screw it, go on ahead. (I've seen it before, it's not a myth)
- This summer is going to be busy for me... 1-2 replies a day at the most, is what you can expect. Probably. That could skyrocket or sink depending on our respective timezones (I'm EST) activity times (I'm on 7-11pm EST guaranteed) and how much I need to write... Too many times has that 5 paragraph post taken me the entire day just because of perfectionism... (too many times has it taken only thirty minutes, as well)
- I like having out of character exchanges, even if it's just sending memes every now and again... I also like making fun of how awkward I can be in OOC.
- I'm pretty flexible. Not physically mind you, I'm talking mentally.
- I'm pretty used to taking control and kinda GMing my 1x1s... If you want to be the GM driving the world or share that role between us, forgive me if I'm a little stiff. It's been a long time since I haven't had full control of the wheel.
- If you want to RP on Discord, I'm fine with that. If you want to RP in PMs, I'm fine with that. If you want to RP in a thread, I'm fine with that too.
--If you don't know games this might get a little confusing, sorry--
Well, like the title and tag implies, I'm looking for some epic/heroic fantasy. Some high quality story of individuals rising to conquer challenges no mortal should be able to... Yeah, that sounds perfect. I want a high-strung drama and action story with lots of magic, basically. Bonus points for every opportunity for a badass moment.
I haven't thought up of any world or setting or plot in specific. Mostly, I've just come up with what I'd like to see, and we can discuss everything along with the discussion of who'd be the GM or if we'd share that role. A few of the things I'd like to see (You don't have to read): A game-like world, A complex defined magic system, Adding some side characters that will act as supporting cast, A war, A rebellion, A lot of wars, Involving higher orders like gods and fate, Acknowledging that politics exist, A failure or two when it counts, Imperfect characters, Philosophical questions like "Are they the bad guys?", Plot twists, A changing modern world, A quest to defeat the demon king, Deicide, Playing naturally talented main characters, Playing zero to hero characters, Playing blessed main characters, Heroes from the ashes, Adventurers Guild, Monsters, Rising from bottom to top, The enemy is my friend, The enemy of my enemy is not my friend, Escalating single threat.
- A game-like world
- Basically a world where your capabilities are displayed in a menu as skills and stats, like a game character. It's a great plot device, a wonderful writing tool, and makes fights against opponents stronger than the characters feel that much more intense.
- A complex defined magic system
- This is just... Great. So great. When you have a solid magic system, it sets up rules, and when you set up rules those rules always make combat and the world that much more exciting. Even if the system only exists to be broken or exploited, it makes the breaking/exploiting of the rules feel that much better.
- Adding some side characters that will act as supporting cast
- Going on the idea that we each would only have one main character, we could add side characters (temporary or permanent) to the group to just add some more characters into the mix, make more drama and cover some of the combat weaknesses of the party.
- A war
- I like wars.
- A rebellion
- I like these too.
- A lot of wars
- I like wars.
- Involving higher orders like gods and fate
- Prophecies, gods descending to grant blessings or cast curses, gods having their own objectives, characters having destinies, weapons of legend seeking for their rightful owners, the world repeating a cycle and maintaining a balance, that sort of stuff.
- Acknowledging that politics exist
- Not necessarily getting into politics, just keeping in mind that every leader has their own agenda, and that sometimes the politics of the situation can restrain you.
- A failure or two when it counts
- Not necessarily an overall failure, but seeing characters stumble in a moment they see as critical humanizes them.
- Imperfect characters
- I love characters with huge flaws in their philosophy, mentality, or morality. You can count on me to bring this to the table.
- Philosophical questions like "Are they the bad guys?"
- I absolutely love the drama that spouts from characters being asked if they're the good guys, if the world is good as it is, etc. The doubt of your own course that you chose is a very interesting moment for characters.
- Plot twists
- I love them, enough said.
- A changing modern world
- Imagine if our world just suddenly had magic dumped everywhere for no reason with no warning. Some people became wizards, others became stronger than they used to be, some people woke up as elves, and the streets are filled with mystical creatures both evil and good.
- A quest to defeat the demon king
- Sorta like how in most RPGs you have the big bad that's stirring up the monsters and making life hard for everyone, so you go and kill it to rid the world of darkness. Demon kings are often rulers of the demon race, a race of humanoids with one or two aesthetic differences like colors that tends to be more powerful than ordinary humans.
- Deicide
- Playing naturally talented main characters
- The characters that got blessed from the moment they were born, with talent, money, and teachers to become the best they could before the RP even started.
- Playing zero to hero characters
- Characters that started out average joes, maybe with a tiny bit of talent that went untouched, and suddenly got thrown into the heroing business.
- Playing blessed main characters
- Characters that received blessings from a god/powerful being
- Heroes from the ashes
- "My small country got burned to the ground by the demons so I'm going to go kill them all"
- Adventurers Guild
- Is it economically plausible? Not at all! Is it fun? Yes! Adventurer guilds are basically places where the strong and talented gather to accept requests and get rewards, from fetch quests to bodyguard work to monster extermination.
- Monsters
- Y'know, the big and hairy ones that are complete and total massacre machines. Put one in a village, watch villagers die.
- Rising from bottom to top
- As opposed to starting the quest after the characters have reached level ten and gained some competency, the quest starts while they're still at level zero.
- The enemy is my friend
- Often done by adding someone affiliated with the enemy to the party.
- The enemy of my enemy is not my friend
- When you're fighting the demon king but while you're away some other human country invades your homeland. The greatest enemy of humanity is itself.
- Escalating single threat
- Instead of one major quest it's a whole bunch of smaller quests that keep getting more dangerous as the mastermind gets more powerful and starts executing more of their plan.
Bold Italics: I'd really love to see this
Red Bold Italics: Holy crap I'd be all over this, like, it's an unhealthy addiction of mine
