Realistic or Modern Looking for some help getting back into things: Rough plot started

Steampunk Mermaid

New Member
So, i haven't done this in about 3 years and I miss being able to Rp. I find I have time for it now, and would like to work on a plot that has been in my head for awhile, but would rather see how it plays out with others.

I am looking for someone to help me get back into the swing of everything. I have been writing for a long time, but I have not taken part in an RP for about 6 years. I love Victorian romance novels, and industrial type works of literature. I’m sure it’s an odd combination, but that is me.

Prefer male friends just because it seems easier for me.
Someone who can really develop a story and not jump into things.
I normally don't like threads, but I'm not against it. I use e-mail a lot honestly because I'm constantly there for work. It makes it hard to forget since I check is hourly.

Story 1:
Background:

Charlotte was debuted last season, and is currently engaged to a well-admired heir to a Shipping Company. He is by all accounts the perfect gentleman; however, he doesn’t seem to love Charlotte for who she is, but rather her family name and her looks, and he seems to have a controlling side to him when it comes to women. It has been nearly a year since he began courting her, and to her luck she has avoided his proposal up-to this point. She is now helping her friend prepare for her debut for the season. The next coming months are full of events and parties, and each one holds the risk of his proposal. Everyone is expecting her to accept, but she isn’t sure she can honestly go through with it when she doesn’t love him.

Charlotte is the daughter of a railroad industrialist, and sees her marriage as the perfect opportunity to complete a strong trading market. Reasoning with her parents has become a pointless plea for freedom. In a desperate state, Charlotte finds herself escaping from society when she can to an old abandon dry dock. It is here she tries to find her breath and come to terms with her life: a loveless marriage, friends who don’t understand her need for love over money, and the possibility of losing her only true friend once she is married, her maid Bella. It also becomes the place she meets an older, middle class engineer. They seem to be snippy with each other at times, but he sparks a fire in Charlotte she thought died long ago. They butt heads on many things, but there is chemistry that seems to grow between them.

I also enjoy mermaid and fantasy.
