hi guys!! The Five Steps is a light-hearted and slice of life RP, because I really wanted to do something fun! this is technically a REBOOT of the old RP, but there are no old members left (if any of you see this, then feel free to join again!) so I'm starting with a completely clean slate. I do have information already written down and my characters are completed so you can see what I'm looking for, but I do believe the process is fun! (and I hear you asking process? there's a process? what? but just stick around for a little and see if it's interesting to you!) the Process is a good way to get to know your character better, I've been told c:

anyway, some quick info: my names Sammy, I’m the GM, hello. there is 10000% going to be a Discord server for this RP - it's required, because there will be character interactions that are going to happen over it (think like texts between the characters!). It's also going to be used for all OOC talk, but I haven't made it yet because it's... a lot to make, honestly. if this gets enough interest then I'll make an OOC thread over here where we can talk while I'm working on the Discord, so we can get to know each other!

Also, fun facts! I drew the logo for this roleplay and I designed the wonderful robot mascot, Telltale! I think it adds something fun to the RP haha

  Developed by TIES, The Five Steps help you form that connection you want in your life. What kind of connection are you hoping to make? Romantic? Platonic? Friends? Lovers? Whatever you want, you can have (so long as it's legal)! The Five Steps were created by various professionals and have been proven to help various different people form those connections that they were missing!
  
  All you have to do is sign up, and then set aside time to go through the steps with a group of other people on an island in the beautiful Pacific ocean. It’s really quite a simple process, and there are already many people who have found success with our experiment! Do you think that you could be the next one?
  
• This roleplay is a light-hearted group roleplay about connecting with others and developing friendships and/or pursuing romance. The characters, who are all college aged, all learn about a social experiment called “The Five Steps” and decide to sign up for it, for one reason or another. Maybe they’re bored, or lonely, or want to see if there’s a chance for romance. After all, the experiment brings everyone to an island in the tropics! What better place to try to make friends or find someone to fall in love with then on an island in the middle of the ocean, with minimal observation and lots of opportunities to have fun?
  
  The plot for the roleplay follows a group of characters as they go through the experiment and get to know each other better. It’s a roleplay that is based pretty much solely around character development and relationships, and there will be plenty of opportunities for drama and character growth as well. There are going to be games and challenges the characters have to overcome together, or in smaller groups, and as the characters progress through the challenges, they learn that they actually have a Partner, someone that, according to science, is a wonderful match for them! There are very minor sci-fi elements (like Telltale, the robot host who is basically an AI), but they don’t play a big role into the story at all. In fact, having a robot host that ACTUALLY has a personality and is self-aware is very strange in the world of the RP. It’s set in modern times with modern technology, save for the little robot host and the bracelets everyone gets given to keep tabs on them.
  
  The experiment is NOT televised, at all. It’s not a game show, or a reality TV show, or anything like that. No one is watching the characters live, except for the people who created the experiment, the TIES Committee. The characters don’t have much contact with the outside world, but that’s because the purpose of the experiment is to get everyone to know each other, and outside distractions would, well, distract from that.
  
• ♡ The roleplay is not first come, first serve. You’d PM me your character sheets and I would decide who to accept, and I’d offer feedback on your character too, if I have anything to say. Everyone would be allowed one character each, except me. This miiight change, but for now, it's one each.
  
  ♡ 18+, simply because I’m twenty-three and would feel better playing and talking with people who aren’t a lot younger than me.
  
  ♡ Posts: at least two-three paragraphs per reply, and please be semi-lit/lit. No one liners allowed, and no mary-sues or anything like that. I want creative and well-thought out characters, please! I also don't anticipate the RP being incredibly fast moving, but do try to be active or let me know if anything comes up!
  ★ Coding is not required, but if you want to use it then please make sure it’s mobile friendly and easily accessible!
  
  ♡ No face claims, sorry! The only thing I'll allow apart from descriptions are picrews (with credit/a link to it) and your own personal (or commissioned) art of your character.
  
  ♡ Discord is REQUIRED and I ask that you be fairly active in it. There are going to be in-character channels in the server where characters can interact, and it's important that characters interact over them, in order to help me figure out who gets paired together. The server is also where all the OOC talk is going to happen (eventually, after I make it :') ). Over the server, announcements will be made and plotting can happen, and relationships can be explored and developed. You have to want to talk with everyone else in the RP and be involved, even if the roleplay is moving kind of slow at the time. Be interested, please!
  
  ♡ Romance is absolutely allowed, and somewhat encouraged, but if you don’t want your character to be involved in romance, then that’s perfectly fine too! It’s both a romantic AND platonic roleplay, so if you don’t want romance, then your character can still make friends! (An option later will let you tell me what you’d want for your character, don’t worry!)
  Both friendships and romantic relationships are totally valid, and Telltale would dare say that friendships are even BETTER than romance, so you have a robot rooting for making all the friends!
  ★ The roleplay WILL pair your character up with another character, but it's a surprise whoever it may be! It's also not in the romantic sense - it's just whoever, according to science, your characters best match is! You can still totally make friends with or try to romance anyone you want though c:
  
  ♡ The RP is definitely LGBT+ friendly, and my own characters aren’t straight. There aren’t specific roles to fill or anything, but if I think your character is too out there or has too sad a past or just doesn’t fit into the RP, then I’ll tell you.
  
  ♡ Something pretty big, that gets its own bullet point, is that I’m looking for people that want to talk to each other and ALSO form connections of some sort with the people behind the characters. I’m hoping that this roleplay introduces people to each other and allows people to maybe, possibly, become… friends? Or something! Or, honestly, just be nice to each other. Be respectful. Please. Let me know if you have a problem with anyone and I’ll do my best to help work it out.
  
  ♡ The application process will include a small questionnaire that you have to fill out as your character! (This means first person, from their point of view.) It's what the TIES Committee give to the characters who participate in the experiment, in order to analyze and figure out who to pair together. With the power of science! (aka me!) It's pretty short and kind of fun, I think, and I already have examples of what I'm looking for. I'll show them if enough people are interested!

hello!! thanks for the interest! there is a CS to fill out as well as an extra thing (which is important for the plot of the rp) but i don't have it up quiiite yet. and, yes, once the character sheet and the questionnaire are done, they're both meant to be sent to me! c: i hope that answers your questions~

i'm thinking of putting up the CS thread tomorrow, since people are pretty interested and i know a few of you are already thinking of characters. i'll have examples with my two characters about what i'm looking for since the application process is sliiiightly different from normal... but i think it's fun!
