Hello there!
I'm Jordan.
Quick stuff so you know whether to bother reading further:
- I don't write sexual content
- No angels, demons or occult please
- I won't ghost, please do me the same courtesy. (more on ghosting*)
- 18+ only. My writing is pretty clean, but I'm an adult (barely clinging on to my mid twenties) and I prefer to write with other adults.
- I write between 300-1500+ words but I don't expect people to mirror my post length. No one liners though. If you can write 300 or more words that'd be ideal (2-3 paragraphs)
- I care about grammar and take time editing my posts after writing, please care a bit too!
- I love discussing the plot OOC and talking about the characters
- I can normally reply a few times a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. So long as we're exchanging a post a week though, I'm happy
- I'm UK time, though that's just something to aware of, it's not a problem whatever timezone you're in
*The main reason is I like writing, but I need to write on a regular basis to keep up the habit.
I don't like taking on too many partners as I want give the proper attention to each RP, otherwise I end up divided so it's a fine balance to maintain. As a result, when people ghost, I'm left not knowing whether to look for another partner or if it's just real life stuff that has kept the other person from getting in touch and I end up not being able to write for a while, which has a negative effect on my writing as a whole.
I'm never abusive or passive aggressive or anything like that (I assume it's often anxiety that makes people ghost rather than getting in touch and risking this sort of response from people? Not sure). I don't even need a reason as to why the RP isn't working and I'm just grateful to be told as much.

Writing style:
3rd person, past tense.
I write anywhere between 300-1500+ words a post but I don't expect people to mirror that length, just to go with what's comfortable and feels right for the scene.
I'm 'literate/advanced lit', according to the way RP-Nation uses the term. I don't expect perfection but I enjoy writing a well put together post and would rather write with people who have the same preferences. Because I like to pay a lot of attention to detail, I would ideally like to write on google docs as it offers the most tools, but I'm flexible on this!
I normally write OC's but canon characters as NPC's is something I'm cool with if we're writing in a fandom.
Out of Character Stuff:
Long term - Ideally we come into this with the plan the RP will last for a while. I don't like to rush through a story too fast.
OOC Communication - Communication about our story, it's direction, preferences, feedback and the like. I feel it's important to communicate about the things we both like, and potentially don't, as it allows both of us to get the most out of things. I'm thick skinned so don't hold back.
Activity - I'm looking for someone who can post once a week at minimum, but ideally a few times a week. Life has ups and downs so I vary, but I'm normally within this spectrum.
Writing Sample - I'd like to exchange samples but it's okay if that makes you feel uncomfortable, we don't have to.
Collaboration - It is something that adds a lot of spice to a story. While I enjoy pushing the plot forward myself, it's always nice when others contribute and I'm able to be a passenger in places and I'm very happy to do the same. NPC's shouldn't all fall to one person. Sharing the responsibilities around where appropriate is something I hope can be achieved.
Once we're comfortable writing together, I like to be able to surprise people with minor plot twists (that don't alter what we've discussed already) occasionally, and visa versa, though don't worry if this isn't your cup of tea.
I am totally fine with my writing partner making basic assumptions about the scene and my character to add flow and flavour to their posts, it is encouraged in-fact! I'm not talking about god-modding, nothing the character wouldn't ordinarily do. It requires a level of trust and familiarity with each other but I believe it is rewarding when pulled off and it is the essence of collaborative story-telling. I can provide examples if you like.
In-Character Stuff:
Romance vs Platonic - I've had romance in a couple of plots I've been a part of before, and I've enjoyed them, but I'm not looking for a romance plot from the outset. It's one of those things where I feel like it loses some of it's weight if it's not organic and we know what's going to happen before we start writing. It has it's place though, but I'd rather romance isn't the plot and the story can stand on it's own without it. I enjoy platonic characters and prefer to at least start in this area.
Combat - It certainly has it's place! I view it as a plot device, similar to romance in a sense. Combat is great for adding excitement and flavor; serving the plot and characters, not the other way around.
My characters are rarely capable in combat and normally 'underpowered' in some way. I like them to struggle; seeing them roll over hoards of enemy soldiers doesn't bring me nearly as much enjoyment as seeing them get ground underfoot and having to drag themselves back onto their feet.
Doubling - I don't do Doubling in the traditional, romantic partner sense. If a situation calls for multiple perspectives, then that's a different matter that we could discuss.
Character Gender - I don't have any requests as to what gender you or your character's gender is. I have written both male and female characters.
NPC's: Be willing to share NPC duties please! I don't mind if you prefer to share individual NPC's or keep them assigned to one writer, but either way be willing to share the workload.
Settings:
I'm open to a wide range of settings aside from those below so please, give suggestions! I don't want to pigeonhole you into anything, but so I don't leave you hanging, here are some of the big universes I'm somewhat familiar with and interested in writing in! If you think we'd be good writing together but there isn't anything here that fits, just shoot me a message and we can have a think!
Other - Share your ideas!
Mistborn - One of, if not my favourite, book series I've had the pleasure of reading, I'd be very much interested in writing in this setting with some unique characters.
Battlestar Galactica (2004) - Massive fan of the series, and while there may not be the variety of plots some other settings offer, there is great potential for some interesting ones in here and I have a couple of ideas to get things kicked off.
Star Wars - Not interested in the Disney universe but anything aside from that could be fun. In particular I'd be interested in trying a Master/Apprentice or a double apprentice RP, Jedi or Sith.
Lord of the Rings - Another big world and there is a lot of variety to be had here too. I love fantasy in general and you can't go wrong with LOTR. For this I would lean towards writing some deep lore stuff and really digging into in, with some longer posts to be able to really appreciate the world Tolkien gave us.
Marvel/DC- Plenty of opportunities for a wide range of RP's. I quite like the idea of writing from a 'villains' perspective for a change.
General Historical - There are so many unique pockets of history that often don't get much attention, and I'd definitely be up for writing in a variety of historical settings.
General Sci-Fi - I love Sci-Fi so I'd be up for writing in a setting, possibly from a fandom or in something we create. I probably lean towards more grounded settings over whatever Sci-Fi's equivalent of high-fantasy is (aside from Star Wars). Something along the lines of a space opera would be ace.
General Themes - My characters tend to be 'underpowered' in some way, be in over their heads, or struggle with some negative aspect of their lives. I love writing about inner struggles and putting them in situations that conflict with their views.
Even if I'm writing someone that's capable, I feel it's important they have some deficiencies to deal with to provide some real inner struggles and I love reading about similar things in your writing. I just don't find very confident characters that have their life together overly interesting. Flaws are so much more compelling as defining features in my view!

Hopefully you've liked what I've said enough to get in touch. Please send a private message rather than posting on the thread.
Thanks for reading!
