Everyone's fighting some battle of their own.
I haven't sought out any 1x1 partners in a long time since the last few times were either devoid of details in writing or were just a competition of one-upping the other character. -.-
But I am trying again because the three RPs I'm in have a tendency to get quiet periodically each week and I love RPing too much to want to wait an entire day or even longer to be able to write another post.
Because of past experiences with this not going so well, I guess I'll add my own little list of rules to maybe help me weed out who will be a better fit for me since it went awry when I would just try 1x1 RPs with whoever.
1. No physical intimacy beyond a light kiss every once in a while. This is for more personal reasons than anything, but also because I had some people wanting me to partake in RPing activities that aren't even allowed on the site. No bueno and most definitely not going to happen again. Nada. It's strictly PG for me (PG-13 for violence, though, since I don't really care too much about that unless you get weird about it).
2. Details pl0x. I'm huge on adding details to every post I write in RPs and I live for posts that include environmental details and how a character feels or thinks about the situation they're in and who they're around. I don't expect anyone on here to be writing like they've already published novels lol, because I am definitely on that kinda level myself. But I want more details and I want life in the RP, not just one-liners poking at some kinda progression. If I can give you a paragraph of a 1x1 response or even more than that, then I am expecting to receive the same or a tad less than what I gave you in return.
3. Warn me if you're going to be AWOL. I totally get it when stuff happens IRL and you've gotta be offline for some time, but you gotta give me a heads-up about it. I already know I'm going to most likely be offline from July 15th to the 29th due to National Guard training. I might be able to get online to read posts, but I have no idea if I'll be capable of writing any posts myself. My connection could likely be very spotty or I might just be really busy.
4. If we start up a 1x1, then we're going to make a separate conversation or thread for the OOC (I don't necessarily care if we do it on a thread, but if you'd prefer a conversation then so be it). I really dislike anyone adding in OOC comments into their IC posts. It always disrupts the flow of the RP.
5. My time limit for a post response from partners is three days. I would much rather say two days or even less, but I've had my fair share of sudden IRL problems to deal with that keep me away for several days and I can't pretend as if everyone is immune to that crap. So yeah, you get three full days maximum before I'll warn you about it. If you don't explain yourself before the end of the fourth day, I'll leave our 1x1. Now, since I know people can get hospitalized or something super serious could go down that I'm unaware of, I'll never literally leave a 1x1 if I'm not given an explanation. I'll just basically ignore it and move on until the person is online again. If I can look at your profile and see you've been online recently without speaking to me, I will definitely leave the 1x1 at that point.
6. Please be open to friendly criticism. I know most can't imagine any form of criticism even being a good thing, but I get really annoyed if you keep making the same writing mistake over and over again or simply refuse to get any better at writing. Like I said before, I'm far from a perfect writer myself, but just hear me out if I offer you any advice. My only two requests with this is 1) don't start fighting with me about it because I'm trying to offer advice, not tell you that you suck at writing and 2) don't leave the 1x1 and essentially try to "run away" from me. Like, I only offer my criticisms as a helpful thing and if you start avoiding me then I'll simply leave the 1x1 myself and move on. I won't pester you if you try ignoring me, but I won't beg for you to return or apologize for offering advice. Now, if I come across rudely and you dislike how I word my advice, feel free to tell me so. I am a terribly blunt person and have been warned countless times of how I can come across to people. I suppose I should apologize in advance just to be safe. So, uh...sorry? >//<
Welp, that's all I can think of right now. If you have survived thus far through my wall of rule text then I suppose you must really be interested! Or really bored and just reading whatever new posts pop up here. You do you, I suppose.
As far as settings go, I can pretty much write in any context so long as we agree on the year and place that we want to be RPing in. I'm currently a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy settings and could care less if we are RPing on a planet one of us created. We could even take the nerdy route and make up a Planet Nine to RP on. But yeah, I'm not too picky about settings unless you try some weird 80s workout kinda scene. I can't handle the workout clothing style from back then, so sorry but I can't do it (is now having flashbacks to photo albums of my mom in the 80s).
When it comes to characters, I generally prefer for them to be in the 20s and am all for the stereotypical "I'm totally in shape, but you'll never see me working out in this story" looks lol. It seems in most books nowadays, everyone is just magically fit for their fightings scenes, but we'll never know how they manage their amazing bods. *le shrug* I just like younger characters (mostly because I'm in my 20s myself and love trying to make things relatable in RPs despite how weird my characters sometimes look). Oh and speaking of weird characters, I've RPed as a werelynx before (think werewolf, but a lynx) and fell in love with that character (despite how moody she was). And on that note, I am a tiny bit of a furry just in the sense of loving to RP as bipedal animals (basically Zootopia animals). If I can get away with writing as an animal in a RP, I will find a way! (*cue the Disney music*)
I think that covers all the bases for 1x1 stuff. It has been a long time since I've done one of these and a fair warning: I absolutely suck at plot progression on my own. I am really not that great about thinking far ahead and usually spend most of my RPs spontaneously backtracking and making stuff up for my characters' backstories. While I could try (and likely fail) to create a plot of my own, it would probably work out better for both of us if you could bring your own idea with you and then I can just kinda play fill-in-the-blanks for any plot holes.
