Rose's Partner Search
✎﹏﹏
Hello! My name is Rose, and I've been writing roleplays for about as long as I can remember. As is obvious already, I'm looking for a couple of new roleplay partners. I like to keep roleplaying partners for a while, so I'd prefer someone who is committed, but also patient. I'm a full-time college student and I'm studying abroad this semester in the UK, so while I keep my replies at a pretty consistent daily or semi-daily frequency, there are times when I might need to take a little week-long break to focus on my studies.

Partner Preferences
I'm nineteen and would prefer a writing partner to be 18+; I don't like writing much NSFW content, but I do enjoy writing romance, so… just to keep things safe. However, if you seem like an experienced writer, I can be open to starting a story; I'm not super strict as long as the guidelines are followed.

I also like to write quite lengthy replies, and I prefer it when my writing partner matches my level of content. Usually, my replies will be in the 600-1000 word range; although, I might have a few days where I don't have as much time to write, and I might dip into 400-500 words. Obviously, these are just ranges, and I don't mean to intimidate anyone, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share those expectations. I also find it difficult to immerse myself in the story when faced with consistent grammatical errors, but again, I'm not super strict about that as long as there is significantly story-driven substance behind your writing.

Story/Character Preferences
I like to write about some pretty broad themes. While most of my roleplays will be romances at heart, I like to incorporate sophisticated themes that the characters can play with, like politics, religion, or anything ideological. For example, I especially enjoy writing historical fiction/romance-oriented roleplays in which the two protagonists are attracted to each other as people, but either have ideological differences that they have to resolve OR share a common goal, but have to fight the rest of the world to achieve it. Here are a few plot examples that I have been brainstorming:

American Revolution: Continental and Loyalist Spies (I've been watching the show Turn and it's making me want to write something spy-related during this revolution.)

  • A young, female tavern owner in occupied New York City pretends to be a Loyalist to gather intelligence for the Continental Army, smuggling messages between spies. When a wounded, male British officer stumbles in, she tends to him, forming a friendship with him that begins to blossom into something more. The British officer quickly takes an interest in the tavern owner, and her spy network pushes her to grow close to him to acquire intelligence. The tension in the story between the woman and the British officer would be a result of their political differences, but on the woman's part, there would also be a conflict between her and her spy network. As a woman, she would be discouraged from participating fully in the Continental Army's duties, but she is still being used to acquire intelligence. Anything could be added to the British officer's background to add extra conflict in the story on his part.
Early Post-Russian Revolution
  • A noblewoman who since turned to poetry after the Russian Revolution writes verses subtly criticizing the new regime, circulating them among other former aristocrats. A young man working for the secret police is ordered to infiltrate this circle and expose her, but the woman's written words awaken something in him that he cannot ignore. I think it would be interesting to lean into the political themes here rather than solely the characters' attraction to each other. The latter could be a result of the former, instead.
1800s England
  • The daughter of a successful mill owner is expected to marry into the aristocracy, but she finds herself drawn to a passionate laborer fighting for workers' rights. This would be another political one focused on, well, workers' rights, but it could also seep into feminism or any other developments going on at the time. This would be the loosest plot option.

I am also completely open to contemporary romance roleplays that involve characters with interesting backstories. I like exploring themes of poverty alongside hope:

  1. A young couple struggling with poverty lives in a rundown motel, working odd jobs to stay afloat. Despite their circumstances, they dream of something better. When one of them gets a life-changing opportunity, the other must decide whether to hold them back or push them forward.
  2. She works double shifts at a diner; he's trying to stay clean after years of addiction. They find solace in their late-night conversations at a 24-hour laundromat, sharing dreams neither of them can afford.
  3. Two homeless teens find comfort in each other as they hop trains from city to city, searching for a place to belong. Along the way, they heal old wounds and dare to hope for a future together. (I could see this one taking place in the early 1900s, between WWI and WWII, as well!)
