"The world is full of chaos and suffering, but the mind is as still as a pondSet in an alternative high fantasy version of the Tang dynasty, the mundane world is full of chaos and upheaval. Even so, the secular world remains still and serene, oftentimes unheeding of said troubles. And amidst the peaceful setting of the secular world, comes a new batch of hopefuls to apply to the great sects. They say that to become a cultivator was the path to ascending to immortality, to rise beyond all trifle mortal worries. And still, the path and price to immortality are steep, with few ever making it far enough. Those who fall off the path face horrific repercussions - to either be branded a devil cultivator and hunted down or to die in a tragic cultivation accident. Even so, each new batch of hopefuls boldly proclaims they will be the ones to cultivate immortality.
Year after year, the blossoms fall
The road still stretches on
For how long? The larks cry."
"As long as you will have me, the bamboo replies
The road is long, my temples frosted
Time passes like a spring dream"
The secular world has been at peace for many years after the Battle of Luyin, where the righteous sects combined to stop the influence of the demonic cultivation sects, with great casualties on both sides. However, strange cases have been cropping up in the mundane world as late. There is a dawning sense of uneasiness amongst the commoners.
This is a GMed roleplay, with me taking on the role of the GM. The role you will take on is one of these brand new disciples at one of the many righteous sects of the Tang Dynasty. How far will you go in cultivation? Will you figure out what is happening in the mundane world? Only time will tell.
The Great Four Righteous Alliance Thousand Blooms Sect - Qianhua Sect
This sect is characterized by the ‘Four Gentlemen’ Elders of the sect, named after the four noble flowers: the plum blossom (winter), the orchid (spring), the bamboo (summer), and the chrysanthemum (autumn). They stand above all sects for the most distinguished cultivators in the four great arts which include: qin (琴, a seven-string instrument), qi (棋, the strategy game of Go), shu (書, Chinese calligraphy) and hua (畫, Chinese painting) besides the traditional cultivation. And thus have created a reputation for themselves as producing the most 'noble' and refined cultivators, though some call them snobby and uptight behind their backs.
Residence: The Four Seasons Archipelagos
Identification: They each favor light-colored clothing with the embroidery of a crest with the four noble flowers. Each member is given a jade carved in the shape of the flower department they fall under.
Golden Palace Sect - Jin Gong Sect
This sect is considered the richest of the sects. With a myriad of businesses and fingers in the mundane world, they are also the most attached and closely affiliated with the mundane world, giving them quite a bit of influence outside the secular world. This sect is characterized by flashy fighting styles and can be seen as rather boastful and distasteful to the other cultivators. Due to their business-oriented nature, their disciples have quite a bit more spending money than the average disciple, giving them even more cause to be arrogant. Besides the regular cultivation, they are also required to learn basic calculations and learn how to run a business.
Residence: Golden Palace
Identification: They each wear a flashy golden hair crown in their hair
Alchemy Valley Sect - Liànjīn gǔ Sect
As the name implies, this sect revolves firmly around alchemy. All of their disciples are required to learn how to refine various elixirs and medicines, though the ones who ever reach the point of learning the sect’s recipes for top elixirs is rare. In terms of fire power, their sect is beneath the other Four Great Alliance sects. However, few are willing to dispute with them for their sect members are no push-overs and there are no sects that produces elixirs and pills of the same quality.
Residence: The Jade Basin
Identification: They wear a vivirescent green forehead band with golden embroidery of a cauldron. Many of them favor green clothing.
Peerless Spirit Sect - Juéshì jīngshén Sect
This sect has chosen a rather arrogant name for themselves. And fittingly so, as the sect is known for their unyielding and brutal manners of fighting. This sect has few of the scholarly nor noble types of cultivators, choosing instead to pick disciples entirely based on strength, making everyone in the sect front-liners. They are normally characterized by their brashness and propensity towards violence.
Residence: Unyielding Stronghold
Identification: A bright red forehead band that each member of the sect wears

Song Sect - Gēqǔ Sect
The Intermediate Sects
An all-female sect composed primarily of songstresses. Everyone in the sect cultivates through music - whether it is through vocals or instruments. Though it is required for all of these sect members to know at least one instrument. They are considered a lower mid-tiered sect because music cultivation is not as versatile as the other sort of cultivation.
Residence: Tranquility Pavilion
Identification: The members are all fond of wearing gauzy finery, and they each wear a fine silvery bell that hangs from their waist.
Austere Seas Sect - Yánjùn dì hǎiyáng Sect
As the name implies, this sect is named the Austere Seas for the place of residence is set on the edge of a peninsula, going so far as to extend onto a fleet of ships - so massive unto themselves they might as well be little towns in their own right. The original founder of this sect was once a famous pirate who had earned much of his cultivation techniques through stealing and creating a mixture of them all to make them his own. As a result of the tarnished past, this sect is also considered a lower-mid-tiered sect, though they are not lacking in terms of power and should be seen more of a mid-tiered sect. When the other sects are disparaging them behind their backs, they call them pirates.
Residence: The Blue Penninsula, The Great Fleet
Identification: A royal blue belt sash with white stitching of a fleet of ships. The members of the sect are partial to wearing royal blue
Flying Swallow Sect - Fēi yàn Sect
They say the founder of the sect was a woman who loved birds and created their cultivation technique mimicking the grace of birds. All of their disciples are instructed in the art of fighting exclusively with war fans - first they are given plain white fans when they join the sect, but once their master deems them competent enough, they are given a customized war fan that their master has a part in helping create.
Residence: Phoenix Mountain, a lush mountain high above the clouds that are full of birds
Identification: The embroidery of fans on the back of every member’s clothing
Sky Society Sect - Tianhui Sect
This lofty sect, similar to Thousand Blooms Sect, is composed of scholars. The founder was actually once a disciple of the Thousand Blooms Sect who struck out on their own to create a sect. This sect is well known for the Revolving Pagoda, where many manuscripts were left behind by kindly visitors to the library. The Sky Society is merely not a Great Four because they do not like the attention. Though this place is famous for hosting disciples from other sects for learning.
Residence: Revolving Pagoda
Identification: Each carries a brush hanging from their belt
Lower Sects
Mystic Beasts Sect - Xuán shòu Sect
A sect that specializes exclusively in taming mystical creatures. While the care and taming of mystical creatures does require sturdiness, it also makes it difficult for the sect to get ahead of things due to one needing certain ranks of cultivation to bond with certain mystical creatures. In addition, this sect often lacks the funding to care for the rarer creatures even if they have the know-how. They also lack cultivation techniques that make other sects so great. In recent years, they have declined to the point that they operate more like mercenaries, mercilessly sacrificing the lower outer disciples as canon fodders in fights to catch these creatures, then either giving them to the few inner disciples or selling these creatures off. Even despite selling these creatures, they still end up at a loss, in the end, caring for the mystical creatures they do keep for themselves.
Residence: Tiger’s Keep
Identification: ???
Stone Tiger Sect - Shí hǔ Sect
This sect has also been in decline for many centuries. Once upon a time, they were known for their ability in fighting solely hand to hand. However, their sect-master disappeared and since then, the techniques have long been lost.
Residence: Stone Keep
Identification: They all wear stone-gray bracers with the carvings of a stone tiger
Hello! I am Lillian and I go by she/her pronouns. I have been RPing for around 10 years now, though I have just recently stumbled upon this site and decided to see what sort of Roleplayers I will encounter here. I am always on the hunt for a good roleplay partner and for the most part (unless I am out socializing or working) I am very responsive. Though with the rise of covid cases recently, more likely than not, I will be socializing less, and therefore have more time for roleplay.
My preferred genres are fantasy, mystery, horror, xanxia (high fantasy version of wuxia), and sci-fi/cyberpunk. I also adore world-building in all my roleplays. And my favorite RPS are always ones full of character development. Though I am posting for a specific plot, if any of the genres listed interests you, please do drop me a dm, I don't bite! When it comes to writing, I am pretty flexible and my style normally depends on my partners. I can go anywhere from a quick two-liners (when we are both rapid-posting/exchanging simple dialogue banter) to an average of 400-800 words. It honestly depends on what I am given to work with or respond to. I do not have a minimum writing requirement, all I ask is my partners give me something to respond to and keep my interest.
In terms of characters, I can play both male and female characters. I have been leaning towards playing multiple characters, so it is likely you will see a healthy mixture. I do RP romance, but I refuse to have it be the sole point of a roleplay's plot. When it comes it romance, I can do mxm, mxf, and fxf. But I would like the buildup of romance to have a natural progression rather than forcing characters together right away.
Things I look for in a partner:
- -Must be 18+, I would feel better roleplaying with someone around my age.
- -Someone LGBTQ-friendly!
- -Someone who can roleplay with decent grammar, though I do not begrudge the occasional typo. I am also prone to making typos now and then.
- -This roleplay was created after another xanxia danmei binge, hahaha, so let me know if you be hip.
- -My ideal partner would be someone who could trade one-three posts a day. Even better if you are into rapid posting. But if you cannot, that is alright too, slip me a DM on how much you normally post!
- -Please have a FC that is anime/art, I get weirded out by realistic FC's.
- -Since this RP is meant to be a bildungsroman, where we get to see your character or characters experience growth as a brand new cultivator, please do not expect to be OP right off the bat.
- -I would love to have someone to chat with ooc about our characters or plot, just because I find it helps us both get invested and keep writing, but I do not require it. If you wish to simply rp, I would not complain.
- -I do prefer to RP on discord since I get the notifications there and I am faster at responding on discord.
To apply, please send me a DM. Tell me a little about yourself!
