Kyero

Three Thousand Club
kyero_by_kumoriryuu-d8wl06w.jpg

Description: Kyero embodies physical fitness. Being born into a family of martial arts practitioners, he's always known fitness and health as well as the darker truths of the arts themselves. His body reflects these realities. He is tall, lean, and his musculature is incredibly defined. His upper body is about 45% of his body length, with his lower body being around 55%. His face is handsome and devoid of scars or blemishes, and he often carries something of a smirk when around friends. Kyero's natural abilities are all reflective of his practice and dedication to the arts throughout his life, and it is one of the reasons that many wish to be his friend while staying out of the way of his wrath when angered.

Kyero's shoulders are broad and his torso tapers down in a classic "V" shape to his waist. His lats are much larger than most people's, as his personal training methods have always been to a certain extreme and different from the norm which focuses on certain parts of the lats instead of the whole group as a unit. The rest of his body is equally intense, being sculpted to near perfection to where he barely has to flex to show off everything. Years of extreme cardio have seared off almost every last ounce of body fat, and his healthy diet ensures he keeps up his energy and provides his body with all the nutrition it needs to remain in top form. His exercise routine is daily, and always pushing his limits. Without this methodology, he'd never have reached this level of physicality. Every muscle fiber in his body has been pushed to its limit, providing him with incredible balance overall. His punches are as strong as his kicks, and his kicks are as accurate as his punches.

When it comes to clothing and such, Kyero keeps it simple. A collared shirt, sometimes a light vest (but not always), loose fitting pants held up by a belt with a silver buckle, and a pair of cross-training shoes. He almost never wears headgear unless it's a bandanna to keep sweat out of his face during a workout. His vision is 20/20, so he doesn't need or want glasses. Sometimes he can be seen wearing a sweatshirt with the sleeves either rolled up or cut off entirely at the elbow. He despises the restriction of movement that long sleeves generally cause unless the material is incredibly light and thin. He much prefers to wear light and loose clothing so that he doesn't have to worry about this issue. And finally, he often can be seen on weekends with specialized boots designed for him by his mother which function similarly to cross-fit shoes but have the durability of combat boots with tough souls. He's had the same pair for almost four years now which isn't bad for someone who works out as much as he does.

Personality: Kyero is a somewhat shy individual when it comes to crowds of people he doesn't know. His body language makes this evident right away, as he gets incredibly defensive with crossed arms, huddling next to walls, and not making any extended eye contact with anyone. However, with people he knows, Kyero is very open and enjoys conversation very, very much. He's got a good sense of humor, he's loyal, reliable and everything you could hope for in a true friend who will always be there for you. The only place where Kyero is not shy is teaching self defense. It doesn't matter how many people are crowding in the room during a self defense lesson where Kyero is in charge. He'll be the one barking orders, giving instructions, and congratulating everyone on a hot and sweaty workout. He is never afraid to speak to anyone about self defense, and even in a room of over 100 people he will walk around as if there is no such thing as discomfort. But beyond self defense... Not so much.

Kyero has a darker side. His anger runs deep, and he's not the type to forgive and forget. Sometimes he'll forgive, but he'll never forget. He remembers every person who ever wronged him in his life from children to adults, and he's never forgiven any save one. The only person he ever forgave for wronging him was his best friend, Dawn. Kyero met her when they were nine years old in 4th grade, and they became fast friends right off the bat sitting next to each other. However, the next year in 5th grade, Dawn stole his favorite watch because she liked it so much. She eventually gave it back with a lot of apologizing, but it took Kyero until 7th grade to truly forgive and forget that it happened. Since then, Kyero's ability to hold a grudge is quite well known among the people in his inner circle. Dawn especially teases him for it and knows just how to press his buttons and get a reaction out of him.

The final side of Kyero's personality is the in game personality. Kyero was one of the lucky 500 chosen to Beta Test Life Untold. This is a face he has kept secret for a long time, and in his Beta Test period he became something else as a gamer. When in game, he now bears confidence many gamers lack when facing a new challenge, especially one as grand as Life Untold. His confidence is so thick you could cut it with a knife. He became intimately familiar with Life Untold's mechanics and game flow, and though he doesn't flaunt his game knowledge he does relish in his understanding and mastery of them. Now that Life Untold is about to be officially released to the public, he's ready for a new adventure. A lot of his friends ask him why he's not nervous, and he says: "It's just a game." The usual response from his friends is: "No... It's THE game Kyero! How can you you not be nervous?" Kyero usually shrugs this off and that's the end of it, but the truth is that he knows what's coming and he knows exactly where he wants to go and what he wants to do with the game during his adventure.

Biography: Kyero was born in Watsonville on September 28, 1989. His mother was only 17 and a senior in high school. Not fit to watch over a child, she decided to give him up for adoption. After an extensive search for the right couple, she picked the Di Nelma family. They had tried for adoption before, but it fell through at the last moment. They were responsible, financially stable, and proven to be good people. The choice was obvious. She made her choice and handed Kyero off to the social services who contacted the Di Nelma family about adopting him. They agreed to come and see if it would be a match, and at first the baby's incessant crying almost drove them away. However, when they handed him to his new adoptive father, Richard Di Nelma, the child fell asleep in his arms almost instantly. At that moment they knew it was a match and the adoption paperwork was filled out on the spot in silence.

Kyero grew up quickly in part thanks to his family always telling him what was going on and never hiding anything from him. But he also grew up fast because they taught him everything they knew during moments when transfer of knowledge was appropriate. Kyero's natural intellect shone through, and even as a five year old he understood many concepts on a deeper level than most other kids his age. Concepts such as compassion, empathy, respect, dignity, modesty and such were all well known and understood by Kyero as a child. He was taught ahead of his classwork at home, such as reading, math, science, and more. His physical fitness was also a concern for the family, but since they were martial artists they enlisted him in their studio's child classes and he absolutely flourished. It was as if he was born for martial arts, with his flexibility, endurance, strength, and seriousness for the arts being apparent and exceptional from the get go. Kyero advanced through the ranks very quickly, and had achieved his black belt in Taekwondo by the age of 8, a feat never experienced by this particular studio.

When Kyero was 9, he met the girl who would become his best friend: Dawn. She was a cute girl at the time of their meeting, but blossomed into an absolutely drop dead gorgeous woman by the present day. But back then Dawn had freckles, peach blonde hair, wore glasses, and spoke softly. The two were alike in their shyness, and that's why they initially became friends. As time went on, they realized they had more than just that in common, and so their friendship deepened. However, it was tested when Dawn stole Kyero's favorite watch later that same year. She always loved the watch and wanted one just like it, but her parents would not get one for her. She felt horrible from the moment she took it, and gave it back only two days later with sincere and serious apologies. It took Kyero years to truly forgive and forget this incident, but many feel it was this incident in particular which sparked his long standing grudge behavior. They would not be wrong.

Kyero made it to 2nd degree black belt by the time he was twelve, being one of the most advanced students in the Bay Area. He competed in multiple competitions, but very quickly found that he didn't enjoy them. The whole concept of competition when it came to the art of self defense... It just didn't make sense. Why turn an art of self defense into recreational sport? It defeated the purpose in his eyes, and he stopped training that same year. Instead, he studied various other forms of martial arts on his own. It was mainly the fundamental basics, but everywhere he searched for something new he found the same thing: art turned into recreation. It sickened him how many studios and styles had turned the art into a sport. Because of that, Kyero began crafting his own style and his own system of training of for the purpose of teaching his students true self defense. His father, being a very successful lawyer, helped him start his own business as a martial arts instructor by the age of eighteen.

Before that step, however, Kyero went through a bit of a break down. His confidence in the martial arts had dwindled, his circle of friends grew smaller every year, and his life began to turn upside down. The main problems he faced were puberty, bullying, lack of faith in the martial arts recreational aspect, friends turning to fads which he didn't appreciate, and more. The typical teenage crisis years were full of all the same problems everyone else faced. To Kyero, they seemed almost directly aimed at him, as most teenagers think. However, by the time he was sixteen he knew it wasn't aimed at him. It was just life. People change, and that was a fact he'd tried to ignore most of his life until this point.

Beyond this point, however, Kyero's life began to straighten out. After graduating high school at the age of 17, Kyero's father helped him start his own business by purchasing a small vacant building on the corner not far from their house. It was a no-nonsense, true self defense school in every sense of the phrase. No flashy moves that were only good to look at. No wasted effort with techniques designed to function only in one specific manner. Only what worked and what was useful was focused on and taught here at this school. Kyero had no time for the wasted efforts of the common martial arts practices which had destroyed his faith in the way they were taught nowadays. It soon became apparent that this no-nonsense approach was exactly what his students hoped for, and more. Within the next three years seven of his students had participated in and won either gold or silver at National level sparring competitions for their age group. The accomplishments brought a lot of good press and business to his school, and it expanded not long after.

Kyero's martial arts school remains his pride and joy today, with three of his students now being international sparring and mixed martial arts tournament champions. A few of his students who won the competitions were assaulted by street punks not long after their victories. They were hoping to shame the champs, or some nonsense like that. But Kyero's methods were more than worthy of the price tag attached to the lessons, and his students handled themselves beautifully. Not only did they successfully defend themselves without sustaining much, if any damage, but they also managed to prevent the fight from reaching any innocent bystanders. Kyero was very proud, and so were the parents in Kyero as the instructor, their children for having done so well, and the martial arts as an art and not a sport. That was Kyero's truly greatest achievement: restoring pride and faith in the martial arts when they were taught correctly and without the wasted effort present in sports style martial arts. But at heart, Kyero was always a gamer, and thanks to his father's connections he was one of the lucky 500 who were allowed to Beta Test Lillium.

And so now the gauntlet is thrown as the release date for Lillium looms ever closer.
