(BRIEF) History: Grew up in a standard ice family. Hunter-scavengers that eat fish, specializing in traps.


Appearance: B/c of her species, tail is thin and grey, with darker spots. Pale skin and very short, dark grey, spotted hair. Delicate features, but big, round eyes. Her eyes are pale grey and more used to seeing in dim light. Elbows have very thin, wide, clear fins coming off them.


Special Skill: Making very beautiful carvings (better at ice than stone)

Adri has been on her own since a very young age, as her race of merfolk care minimally for their young. She has no companions, and is a solitary hunter. While her biome has made her opportunistic, she is not cruel. There have been times when she has saved other merfolk from an untimely demise.

Enhanced night-vision, though this has made her eyes sensitive to bright light.

Personality:


She is usually calm and collected in most situations, though usually could care less what others thought unless it affected her. Serenity can also be very seductive, and sometimes uses it to get people to buy her merchandise. Her fighting skills are exceptionally good as well... she's not the best of the best, but still pretty good. And, although able to control herself fairly well, her curiosity and nosiness is quite strong. Gossip is also a part of her daily life, making her a horrible person to tell a secret to.


Brief History:


Serenity grew up in the Ocean Biome, with a relatively uneventful childhood. When old enough, Serenity moved away to The Heat Streams, where she decided to start her new life. Here, she started a potion business, selling potions and elixirs to other mer-people and fish to make a living. Her home and store are combined as one inside a large coral cavern. In front of the home is a crack in the earth, exposing one of the many streams of lava that flow beneath The Heat Streams.


Special Skill:


Serenity has all the regular abilities of an octopus, including being able to see and glow in the dark.


But her "special skill" would have to be potion making.


Appearance:

If you can see it, her arms turn into tentacles. In my version of her, this doesn't happen.

Original Biome: The Ocean


Personality: He's cold, and he won't warm up to you easily. He is a trickster. He really doesn't like many people, and is a experienced fighter. Tridius is not someone you want as your enemy. Expect greatness, but expect tricks also.


(BRIEF) History: Tridius' mother was killed by humans. He despises them for this, and after his mother died, he fell into a depression. He got out of it soon, and left his father at the age of 16. He now lives in the ocean, unable to go back to the Green Shores of his birth, due to the nightmares he has whenever he's there. Tridius now works as a bounty hunter for the king, using his calls and taking down the evil people in the world. The question is, is he one too?

Special Skill: His siren calls lure both mermaid and merman to the prison.

Personality: Kind of annoying, most would say, though his heart's in the right place (mostly) and he tries to do what's best for the team, although at times he can be a bit self-centered and loves being right. Tends to be reckless, and loves adventure. A little overestimating of himself and never admits his weaknesses. He also likes to pick fights and can be a little boastful. Generally a good guy though, depending on what side of his you're on.


(BRIEF) History: Grew up the youngest of 8 brothers and raised by a single mother, he eventually wanted to prove he wasn't just the 'baby' of the family, which prompted him to leave his home when he was 18.

Original Biome: The Ocean


Personality: Aristotle likes to have fun, sometimes tends to act more childishly than his age would dictate and can be an annoying pain in the ass in a younger brother sort of way but tends to be emotionally weak, quick to anger and often the pessimist when he's alone but happy and overflowing with mischief when around people he likes.


(BRIEF) History: Aristotle grew up in the Ocean with a selflessly loving mother and doting father to guide him through adolescence,


However when he was about 11 his mother was killed by a group of frenzied leopard sharks, his father never recovered the loss and remains a catatonic drunk that lost house and home by the time Aristotle was 16 who left to live on his own after a falling out and now roams wherever he can find a place to sleep and work doing whatever needs to get done.


Appearance:

Special Skill: Lower jaw can unhinged to allow lighting fast strikes with his canines at 8'' long as well as heightened reaction time and lunging/acceleration speed but a lower top speed than most other merfolk. y'know with those fish tails.

Personality: Extremely carefree and a generally warm person, Atina enjoys the freedom of living life nearly unattached to others. Since most merfolk choose only to visit the shallow greens, Atina enjoys socialization without bonds that normally come with it.


(BRIEF) History: Growing up in the Ocean Biome as a child, Atina was raised by relatives as her parents died when as young. She fell in love for the first time at the age of 18, but her heart was broken in the end. This made Atina want a change of pace in order to feel happy again so she traveled seas until came to the tropical Shallow Greens.

Mizu is quite naive, and loves to believe that everyone wishes to help each other and live together in peace. Despite his trust being easily earned, he will no rely too much onto you as he wants to become independent. Mizu is also a very happy, positive thinking individual, which tries his best to keep the rest of the group happy, and himself happy.

Mizu lived together with his family, known for his good looks, as he did not realize this himself. He usually ran around playing with his friends before he received the mysterious letter. Never before had he gone on an adventure, and this seemed exciting, so he decided to leave the Fresh Waters to see the mystery person who sent the letter.

Sure. It's still open for now! The type of mermaid is simply the type of fish. You can choose a normal fish and just specify the type, which just helps us know what color and style your scales are (occasionally it also tells us if you can see in the dark or do anything else specific to that fish), or if you want to be a little more creative, you can choose a different type of creature altogether, like a sea snake, electric eel, manta ray (that's the same type as the bad guy though, be warned), squid, shark, etc! I'm closing the sign-ups in two days, like I said, so if you're sure you want to join, but need a little time thinking of your character, I can reserve a spot for you.

(BRIEF) History:


Cassiopeia can be taken for being a mean girl, but she is only mature and proper. She is disgusted by everything nasty in the ocean and will kill anything that stands in her way. This was her life in the Deep Sea, seeing only creatures of horror around her she slowly became one, a vile rude tongue lines her mouth, along with fangs that could pierce metal. Being raised in the deep was a simple life she was told, she always thought other merfolk had to live every day as kill or be killed. But when this letter came to Cass, she wondered what could be her "precious" cargo. She thought no one knew about it.

(BRIEF) History: When she was ten her parents were killed by another mermaid that swam into their territory and thus Orielle has lived the last 11 years by herself, taking care of herself. Also, with the lose of her parents, Orielle vowed to keep to herself so that nothing else would ever happen to her. This also caused her to shut people out and not allow herself to get close to anyone.


Appearance: "fish tails"

Special Skill: When threatened, her fins give off a very toxic poison that temporarily paralyzes all who are touched by it.

Personality: Blue may look nice and kind, and she can be those things if she wants, but she's snappy and easily angered


History: Spot has been traveling with blue whales since she can remember. She was swallowed as an egg by a blue whale, but when when she cracked out of her egg, the whale that had swallowed her decided to take care of her and raise her as it's own. No one is completely sure what she is, but Spot is a blue whale, no matter what others say.

Personality: Caspian is very blunt. Being in an environment with little mermaids or mermen to interact with, he doesn't realize when he's being rude or insincere. Caspian is also an open book. He has no shame in sharing any secrets of his or anyone's. He has a poor sense of humor, but still attempts to be funny.


History: Mermaids and Mermen inherited with the Macropteris maculatus gene contain a protein in their body that acts as an anti-freeze. A common trait among them is their pale skin and hair. This kind of Mermaid appeared after a particular plague that killed thousands. These Mermaids mark their bodies with permanent ink to mock the plague. The few that survived, during the plague, sought refuge to uninhabited areas of the ocean. The particular mermaids that sought refuge 'Below the Ice' either died or adapted to the environment. The children of the adapters inherited the mutation that was similar to a fish that lived in that climate, the Macropteris maculatus.

Personality: Luna is a mermaid that likes to sing. She is said to have a beautiful voice that can match no others. On the other hand though, she gets angry when you interrupt her. She can lash out at you and get angry, but on the inside, her heart wants nothing more than to be loved by someone.


(BRIEF) History: Luna lived among her parents for a while, until they died in a fishing next. She loved her parents dearly, which meant she would put up a shell to protect her heart from feeling any more pain. She took up singing as the only way to express her heart. She sings often and is said to have a beautiful voice. However, she feels as though she is dull because the only color she has on her is a bit of violet in her eyes, making them clouded violet.

Special Skill: She can release large blasts of sound that are defining to the ears.

Personality: She is evil spirited and unloving. She only know how to break someones heart with her bare hands. Her soul is shrivelled up, unused and deprived of feelings. All she has every been taught is hatred.


"I'm a wonderful person, come here...I'll show you."


History: She grew up in the Deep Dark biome, it is both deep and dark in many ways. Her Mother helped her practice Dark Magic and by the time she was 20, she drank a potion of eternal youth-given to her by a man she seduced and then killed.


"My history is my history-it stays that way."


Appearance: She is beautiful in some ways. Dark hair, silver eyes that sparkle. But beyond that, she is a monster. Her tail is dark and the scales are pointed into a triangle. The bottom of it trails off into 8 parts, much like an octopus'. Her mouth is filled with razor sharp teeth and 4 slits, 2 on each side of her face act as gills.


"You know how many men I have been with? No, neither do I, but I think that explains how gorgeous I am."


Special Skill: Seducing men into giving her things or telling her information and then killing them on the spot. She does this by making her victims see them as someone they love and ripping out their hearts when she has what she desires.
