gae for women
Arc I - From Beyond
A soft sigh escaped the lips of the woman sitting in the center of the round table, in the middle of a grand hall, which, between being built out of stone, the burning torches on the walls, and the rustic look of the furniture, really did look as if it was ripped right out of some Arthurian myth, and this green-haired lady was filling in for the king. Well, truth be told, her position wasn't that much different. She, too, was gathering her own "knights", or to be precise, her Guardians. Just like those mythical knights, they've had to fight to protect their realm, although for them, it's the world, not just Britain. There were even some Mordreds, although thankfully, they've been dealt with much smoother than in the legends - Eternia was still alive, at least, unlike Arthur. And it was a good thing she was alive, because despite the Guardians being a big help, it was still her mostly holding this universe together. It was kind of like... the Guardians had their specific tasks, meanwhile she oversaw the larger picture. There were things going on behind the scenes that even the Guardians weren't aware of, which she dealt with personally.
Which conveniently brings us back to the sigh, because those matters were exactly the reason. Each of the Guardians had received a letter just a few days ago, from Eternia herself. The contents were short and to the point:
"Dear Guardians,
There are matters of great importance that I need to discuss with all of you. It's something that I need every single one of you to be present for, so please, gather at the Citadel, in Cloud Fort's grand hall, on March 3rd, 4 p.m. I will be sharing information that will be vital in the near future, if my predictions are correct. Apologies for any inconvenience it may cause, but it's a matter of the world's safety, our greatest priority... I'm sure you all understand.
Best regards,
Eternia"
Sitting here now, just a few minutes till 4, she was having second thoughts... perhaps she should leave the Guardians out of these matters? She didn't concern them with them up until now, so maybe she could keep dealing with them herself? Then again, the cogs were already turning - if she tried to 'nevermind' everything after gathering everyone... well, it would be incredibly strange, and probably prompt some to dig into it... and they'd probably lose trust in her, knowing she has something she's hiding that she won't share with them. No, at this point, not saying what was going on would be more catastrophic than spilling the beans. The only way now was the truth, Eternia just had to hope the Guardians could handle it.
The goddess looked around the grand hall. Some of the Guardians had already joined her at the table - mostly those, who lived on the Citadel or stayed there often. She scanned their faces to try and gauge their feelings, see if they were scared, anxious, perplexed... or if they were maybe excited, curious? Still, it was hard to tell, even for her. The goddess couldn't help but feel it was a little ironic - she created every one of them, and yet she had no idea what was going on inside them. Not since she decided reading others' minds probably wasn't the most tactful thing. It also didn't help them to trust her, so she'd abandoned it. The temptation was there, but she resisted it... Instead, she kept glancing between the door to the hall, and the Guardians already gathered. Inside, she was mentally preparing herself. Whenever everyone arrived, it would be time to make the grand reveal of the matter she gathered them all for. She was only hoping they would take it well, and deal with it as one... knowing some of the Guardians, though, she had her concerns...
