Fantasy Lichbane: an Underdog's Epic

*Midnight looked towards Vynne and began signing her answer, her fingers flowing through the words like how a normal person speaks with their tongue, using a little magic so the others who couldn't read her sign language would be able to at least read without difficulty, the words shimmering in the air, honey colored before dissipating after a minute* "We are going after a Lich, a foul, fearsome man, highly magical and has cast a curse over our land, the question is....will we even be able to defeat it? those walking corpses don't have hearts, and I hear if they do, it's guarded by fearsome beasts of many kinds" *she shivered as her imagination recalled the lessons she had received on magic beasts when helping her masters protegee clean up his last magical accidents and the words finished dissipating from the air, her eyes dark with worry and fright*

Most impressive! The sign language was unlike he had ever seen, especially with the added magic. Luckily he could already read sign, quite well in fact, and had no trouble reading. Before talking to her though, he went over to the food. With a silent prayer, he slowly hovered his hands over the food, a faint white glow emitting from them. There didn't seem to be anything wrong-nothing spoiled or poisoned. He shrugged.

"All is clear." He said without touching any of it. He sat down near the one who signed her words. "May I ask you, how did you develop such signing abilities? Practice? Such a wonderful magic; I haven't seen such in a long time!" He left a friendly face, but wondered why that was how he tried to go about conversation.

Vekosh returned from the woods, two wild dogs rested atop either shoulder, and her mouth and hands were smeared with blood. It was obvious that her kills had been messy.
"Doesn't anybody here work with medicine? I have been mildly injured."
She frowned, realizing she wasn't the most fluent in basic (English? Common? ???), and strutted towards the small desk she had set up.

-she hesitated for a second before signing an explination, once again drawing on the magic to explain for anyone who was curious that could read words, her eyes closed in memory-
"I have always been mute, and I lived in an orphanage till I was twelve, I learned to read and write and my adoptive parents taught me how to cook and sent me to a school to learn sign language and math, at 18 I was drafted and failed because noone could understand me and I was sent here, I met a wizard and managed to convince him to teach me this magic and in return I cook and help with cleaning"
-once finished she nodded in satisfaction, stretching out a little-

"Interesting, I-" he paused as someone asked about healing. "Excuse me miss, I'll be back in a second." He stood, bowed, then swiftly walked to Vekosh. "I happen to be gifted in the arts of healing. Us Clerics must always be ready to heal. May I?"
He didn't touch her, but did take note of jet injury.
