A Lost Kid With No Purpose In Life
oncomingStorm submitted a new role play:

Let's Start a Band - Band? Band.

We barely know each other. I'm not sure if we'll get along. But the one thing we have in common is that we want to be in a band.
Anyway, auditions have passed, and y'all made it. We haven't had a meeting all together yet, but I'm confident that you're the best people for the job. Hopefully it goes well, and we can make some money.

Well, the auditions were terrible. It wasn't the people who auditioned, but man, decisions are hard. But Lila made one. Well, a few. Anyway, that's over now, and the people who made it know.

Lila waited in the coffee shop where she told everyone to meet at. She got there early, of course, and was very excited. Of course, nervous too. What if we all don't get along? What if somebody doesn't end up wanting to do it? What if no one does? I wouldn't blame them. I have no idea what I'm doing. This is probably going to be a disaster.

The nerves were starting to get to her. She fiddled with a pen, trying not to look so anxious while she waited.

Camryn nervously tugged the sleeves of her hoodie and adjusted her beanie. Today was the day she the of the new band. She had basically spent the entire day in her garage making new beats and rythyms to test out for the band. She was anxious. What if they didn't like her? What if they thought she was too shy to be a drummer, and didn't even give her a chance? She carefully entered the coffee shop.

As Camryn entered the coffee shop, she felt even more out of place. Everyone at the shop was dressed in shorts or skirts, tanks or tees, flip flops, sandals, the norm for summer. But then there was her, with her jeans, band tee, hoodie, Converse hi-tops, and beanie, fall or winter style clothing. She kept tugging on her sleeves, looking around. She never liked coffee shops. It was where all the girly girls hung out and gossiped. She ordered a normal coffee with lots of cream and sugar and leaned casually against a wall, nervously looking around.

Lila looked up from her fiddling and saw one of the girls. She remembered her name, well she was pretty sure she did. She was the drummer, she knew that for sure. "Hey, Cami!" she called out to the girl, using a nickname that she wasn't even sure the girl would respond to. Realizing this, she waved, trying to catch her attention.

Camryn turned quickly at a nickname that no one really ever used was called. She saw a purple haired girl waving her over. She remembered who this girl was. Lila, the bassist, she was pretty sure. She shyly and slowly walked toward the girl.

Chester pushed open the door to the coffee shop. Curious, he thought, how first meetings always seemed to be in coffee shops, though he didn't mind - he guzzled an insane amount of coffee every day. He nodded to the two band members already gathered there and headed to the counter to order before actually visiting them. "Mornin', ladies." Gesturing to himself, he said, "I'm Chester Wilkinson. And you are?" He preferred getting it across rather than tarrying in a conversation, so he often spoke quickly and concisely. He straightened his bow-tie - today's was his favourite from his rather large collection; it was a midnight purple with pale pink polka dots. When he looked back up he flashed a friendly grin at the girls.

"I like the bow tie. Kinda cheesy, but you can pull it off. Nice," she said, before realizing that she didn't answer his question. "Anyway I'm Lila." She was feeling less anxious now, like half the people were, so not much could go wring from this point.

Dang, he's confident..wish I was like him... "I'm C-Camryn..Drummer.." she introduced. She put her head down, sipping her coffee.

"Aw, really? Thank you!" Chester said in response to Lila. "Love the name, by the way. And what's that - did you - was that Camryn? Chin up, sweetheart." He winked and took a few huge gulps from his coffee.

Camryn looked up nervously, tugging on her sleeves and adjusting her beanie. "Yeah, th-that's myname, dont wear out.." she said, trying to sound funny or confident.

Chase pulled out his head phones and glanced through the window of the coffee show. Judging by the hipster outfits he spotted over in the corner, he concluded that this was the right spot. He tugged off his hoodie and slipped quietly into the coffee shop.

Chase took a deep breath. This is it. He had finally became part of a band. Now he just had to make sure not to screw it up. He ran his hand through his dirty blonde hair, shoved the previously mention hand (along with his other one) into his pockets, and casually walked toward the others.

"Hey, you guys are all part of the band right?" Chase said, somewhat awkwardly.

"Y-yeah. Hi, I'm C-Camryn, the drummer." Camryn introduced herself first, standing up to shake the newcomer's hand. Of course, being the clumsy idiot she was, she knocked over her chair in the process. She flinched as everyone turned to her. Tugging her beanie nervously down farther on her head, she awkwardly fixed the chair and sat down, looking down and putting her hood up.

"It seems hard to tire of such a name," laughed Chester. He heard the door swing open behind him and turned to see a boy with dirty blond hair standing there. "Aye. Chester - " should he say his last name, or just leave it at that? - "Chester Wilkinson." He didn't remember seeing this guy at auditions. There were so many people it was hard to tell who was who and to remember who was supposed to play what, and since he hadn't really had much of a chance to see the other hopefuls perform it made it that much more difficult to recognize them. Either way, there was no reason to be impolite, so he extended his hand in greeting. "Pleasure to meet you, Chase."

Chase cringed slightly as the girl knocked over her chair. He felt rather awful for her... He had been there countless times, personally, and embarrassing yourself was most certainly not fun. After shooting Camryn a quick supportive smile, he turned toward Chester.

"Hey, thanks. Nice to meet you as well. I'll be your man on the keys."

This seemed like a fairly small group for a band that had a gigantic audition session.

"Is this everybody?" Chase asked, nobody in particular.

"Uh...I think s-so. Lila, bass; Chase, keyboard; Chester, rythym guitar; me, drummer...th-the singer, the singer i-isn't here. And she is the lead g-guitarist too, I think." Camryn clarified. "I guess we just have to wait for h-her. We can just..t-talk.." She gulped. Conversation? Not her strongest suit. Hell, it was her weakest. She couldn't help but be extremely awkward and one of the biggest introverts she knew. The reason Camryn wanted to join a band was to get a chance to work with other people and make friends, all something she was passionate about. Drumming. Now, she wondered if would ever NOT make a fool of herself..

"Sounds good to me." He pulled up a chair and sat down. "If we're going to be working together we might as well get to know each other a bit." The table wobbled slightly as he drew up to it, he steadied it and sheepishly picked up the napkins that had fallen to the floor.

'I don't know what it is...' he thought. 'I'm not usually this awkward either... It's probably just nerves.'

"Well uh..shall I go first? Get it over with.." Camryn suggested. "Um, my name is Camryn L-Lavenson, I'm 17, and I-I like drawing, ph-photography, and of course drumming. I'm not girly at all, except th-the fact that I'm straight. I l-love my Converse, and w-won't wear any other shoe brand. And.. I-I like guys with f-flippy hair." She said, nervously tugging on her sleeves.

Chase unconsciously reached up and fingered his hair. 'Flippy hair?' he though. 'I wonder if I have-... Oh stop it. You don't have a chance.'

"Cool. We'd all be lost without a drummer," Chase said sincerely.

Oh dear. It was his turn now. He cleared his throat and looked at the others. His fingers strummed the table nervously.

"Well... Like I said, I'm Chase. Chase... Parker, that is. I uh... I'm seventeen and I play the piano or keys. Music is really one of the only things I care about, other than my friends. I also have this thing for piers..."

'Where the heck did that last part come from?' he thought to himself. 'Oh well. Hopefully it doesn't sound too creepy.'

Camryn blushed as Chase double checked his hair. It is kind of flippy..no, stop it Cam, you don't have a chance..

"Piers? I-I can see that being somewhat cool. I'm scared of them though...I-I'm scared of a lot of things..." Camryn commented, blushing more.

"Hey, that's fine. Truth be told I'm paralyzingly afraid of falling off the piers. Deep water and I don't go well together... " Chase shook his head and laughed at his own weakness.

"I've been told that fears are nothing to be afraid of though. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself right? Anway..." He adjusted one of his many wristbands consciously as he realized that he had been rambling. Geez. He felt so uncomfortable around these people. Hopefully his uncomfort would go away quick; he really wanted to get to know these people. They seemed amazing.

Macy laughed nervously, not sure if she should laugh or stay quiet. She tugged on her sleeves, which were covering her own collection of wristbands. Sheesh, why am I so awkward.. "What kind of bands do you listen to?" She asked.

Chase's eyes lit up. "Oh, I am in love with Coldplay. Their old songs at least... I've got a lot of appreciation for songs with piano and guitar as their main instruments. The Scientist is my favorite song of all time. Their newer songs have kind of disappointed me a bit..." his eyes became distant and sad... Then he snapped out of it. "Sorry. Just reminiscing. What about you?"

"Yeah I agree, Coldplay did better in their older songs. My favorite Coldplay song is definitely Clocks. I'm more of a Pierce The Veil girl. I LOVE Hold On Till May. And Disasterology. I always sing it when I'm alone. And I have a bunch of the lyrics on posters I made, hanging up on my wall..Oh and Pink Floyd! Wish You Were Here and Hey You are my favorites. Dark Side Of The Moon is an awesome album. And Fall Out Boy-the older songs, Bring Me The Horizon, Falling In Reverse...oh god, I'm s-sorry, I was rambling.." Camryn listed. She shut up when she realized she was going on and on. She mentally facepalmed.

Chase laughed and put his hand on hers. Where he got the confidence to do so, we may never know. "Hey you're fine. I get really excited about music myself. I mean... Why else would I be here?" He took his hand away before the awkwardness set in. "Quite honestly, I can't wait to get started! I've been working on composing some songs... They're not very good of course... but yeah." He ended with a blush.
