Available Roles!
Fred Jones!
β€’ The leader of Mystery Incorporated and son of the Mayor, he was always the first to come up with traps and plans to catch a ghost or ghoul, excited to see if it was a true mystery or just a mask. He was one of the children who was attacked in the forest all those years ago, and still suffers from the side effects! When in the woods, he was attacked by a genuine ghost that semi-attached itself to him, causing minor supernatural things to happen around him. He often brushes it aside as weird coincidences, but he is genuinely being haunted!

Shaggy Rogers!
β€’ The glutton and resident scaredy-cat, he was often put in charge of gathering equipment for each mystery-solving adventure. He knows his way with computers and surprisingly is a relatively good videographer, even though he's usually running away from the ghosts. As one of the children who was attacked in the forest, Shaggy has scars to prove it. The Howler found Shaggy and snatched him off the forest floor, determined to kill him! This encounter has left him with hand-print scars on his neck and a phobia of anything around his neck.

Scooby-Doo!
β€’ Shaggy's other half, they are best friends and Scooby is the other resident glutton. He has all the menus mesmerized and tends to steal Shaggy's food because just one portion is never enough. Though a scaredy-cat like Shaggy, Scooby is often quite brave and surprisingly will help Fred with the traps and getting the ghosts into them! He makes for fabulous bait after all. His experience in the woods, all those years ago, was with the Nightmare Witch! Her cackle was enough to make Scooby's hair stand up as he ran as fast as he could! But that witch cast a spell on him, yes she did. Attempting to steal his youth, she left the child with greying hair and a weak immune system.

The Stranger!
β€’ She came into town on September 28th, a particularly dark and stormy day. With a checkbook in one hand and multiple mystery files in the other, she decided to track down the disbanded group of mystery solvers and hired them. Now the catch is she must be present during the mystery solving, mostly to ensure that these are indeed genuine mysteries or truly just stories put on by actors. Nobody knows where she came from, but what she's prying into is a little more interesting than who she is, at least to the gang. (Please PM me about this role so you can get the background information)

The Tour Guide!
β€’ She is one of the employees at the Crystal Cove Museum of Monsters and Mysteries and primarily handles their tours when the owners aren't feeling up for it. She is pretty knowledgeable about most of the mysteries of Crystal Cove due to the nature of her job but she rarely looks to question if they are true or not. Sure, she will always say she's seen the Siren sitting on the rocks or she's seen the pirates running through town, but she really hasn't. But that doesn't mean she won't jump at the opportunity to help Mystery Inc. out with their investigations!

The Journalist!
β€’ With the absence of Mystery Inc. and other paranormal investigators, she has fully taken over the Crystal Cove Newspaper with her own findings and opinions. She has been making up more paranormal activity in town as an attempt to bring in more tourists, trying to hide the fact that the town is suffering during the off-season. Because of this, many people have been actually impersonating the ghosts and ghouls she writes about as everyone locally knows they are just stories. Will she get caught by Mystery Inc? Will she stop writing false stories? Or will she try and use her skills to help the gang find out what they need to know?

The Radio Host!
β€’ A skeptic, he is someone who moved to Crystal Cove in high school, during the peak of Mystery Inc.'s activity. From the very beginning, he found the gang to be a nuisance in town, not believing in the 'silly little ghost stories' that they were looking into. After Mystery Inc. disbanded, this man took it upon himself to expose Crystal Cove and started his own radio show called No Ghouls where he often talks about the 'lies' of the town and how he wants to expose it all. He is very adamant about stopping Mystery Inc. from providing any additional mysteries because he will look rather silly if there are ghosts and ghouls.

The Officer!
β€’ He works for the local police and often gets minor calls that don't matter that much. That is until Mystery Inc started to work again! He is constantly sent out to prevent the gang from investigating any paranormal phenomenon, especially if it's anything new! He has caught them for trespassing and while he can't do much due to the Mayor having charges dropped, he still is always on the lookout for the gang. The constant presence of someone preventing them from investigating has made Mystery Inc. even more difficult to handle!

history

Vera Day has spent her whole life in Crystal Cove. In fact, her family has been in Crystal Cove for generations. Her parents, James and Cara, are both historians who met at Crystal Cove College. They bonded over their shared love of the town’s history and hauntings. They were friends for a few years and ended up getting their masters at the same time. This is when they began dating. They married two years later.

They both worked at the museum after graduating and ended up taking it over after their mentor retired. Vera was only two when they took over the museum, so it is all she ever knew. She grew up knowing about the history of town and knowing every legend, even the ones that were questionable and generally unknown. Vera has worked in the museum alongside her parents since she was able to. She helps tourists, gives ghost tours, and helps with the archives whenever needed.

Vera and a group of local kids were very close and often found themselves banding together to β€œsolve mysteries”. Back then, it wasn’t anything substantial or groundbreaking. However, it was a huge deal when Abigail Collins came to town. Naturally, they wanted to see their hero in action, so they followed her, which ended up being a fatal mistake.

The group scattered, though Vera cannot remember what caused them to do so. She just remembered being alone and terrified. She didn’t hear the creature creeping up to her until it sank its teeth into her wrist. Obviously startled, she fell backwards. Vera kicked at the creature in an attempt to defend herself, but that only enabled it to bite into her thigh. She thrashed and fought, but she wasn’t strong enough to do anything but make the bite wound worse.

Vera doesn’t remember what happened next.

All she remembers is waking up in the hospital with her parents by her side. It was concluded that she was attacked by an animal. Though, Vera knew what attacked her. The Vampire Kingβ€” or at least a vampire. Her parents, being who they were, believed their daughter, though they did leave room for the idea that her brain could have been using one of the town’s famous stories as a way to cope with what she experienced.

Thankfully, her friends also survived their ordeals, though the same could not be said for Mrs. Collins. Vera was devastated at the loss and holds a bit of guilt, knowing her attack had played a role in the woman’s demise. Maybe she still would have been killed if they didn’t follow her into the woods, but there was that chance that she wouldn’t have been.

This only pushed Vera further into her interest in solving the town’s mysteries. As a part of Mystery Incorporated, she has since had countless experiences with the supernatural (and not-so-supernatural hoaxers). Though, at the end of junior year, the group fractured.

Vera remained close with Diana and the pair have anonymously hosted a blog called the Ghoul Girls. It’s small, only having a fraction of the following Mystery Inc. did, but she doesn’t really mind all that much. Outside of that, she spends her time working at her parents’ museum.

Vera was surprised when The Stranger came to town and asked the members of Mystery Inc. to come back together for a new case. Though, she accepted without hesitation. What happened to Mrs. Collins was something that always weighed on her.

father

James Day

James Day has always been a touch eccentricβ€” a Gomez Addams type, if you will. He holds a deep love for his wife and his daughter. He shares his love for Crystal Cove and all of its oddities with the both of them. He can get a bit consumed by his work, but he somehow manages to always be there when his family needs him to be. He does put his faith into these ghost and occult stories, likely believing some to be true that are more likely myths, but he doesn’t seem to mind being faced with skepticism. However, he’s been a bit down as the tourism drastically declined over the years.

mother

Cara Day

Much like her husband is compared to Gomez, Cara can be compared to Morticia Addams. She is a bit more realistic and practical than her husband, but she too fully buys in to the ghostly happenings of her hometown. She is a bit more discerning, often keenly aware of what reported phenomena are likely hoaxes. She can be very protective of her family, especially when outsiders and skeptics take a step too far in writing them off. With tourism declining, she is always looking for new ways to bring in visitors to the museumβ€” such as offering tarot card and palm readings.

fave ghost story?

β€œMine is probably the Ghost Ship. I can’t even count the night’s I’ve spent awake, hoping to catch a glimpse of the crew making their way about town.”

do you believe in the paranormal/occult?

β€œβ€™Course I do. I mean, I’ve been surrounded with it my whole life, growing up at the Museum. Obviously there are hoaxes and liars out there, but there are countless stories I know to be true.”

have you ever seen a ghost?

β€œMhm! Looking for ghosts and other supernatural beings has kind of been my whole thing since I was a kidβ€” I mean it’s in my blood.”

what do you think happened to mrs. collins?

β€œSomething in the woods got her. I believe it was the Werewolf, but it could have been anything. The woods can be an extremely dangerous placeβ€” I would know.”

CHRISTOPHER THOMSON

Full Name: christopher Thomson
Nicknames: chris, christian ( what his mother calls him )
Age: 22
Gender/Pronouns: male, he/him
Sexuality: heterosexual
Occupation: works as an assistent ( coffee-boy ) at a local radio station but does his own show from 12am - 2 am every thursday, live from his own room where he needs to be really quiet or he will wake up his roommates.
Role: the radio host

Face Claim: milo ventilogmia
Height: 5,7ft
Hair: half wavy dark hair that he combs back every morning with a shitload of wax
Eyes: dark brown
Scars: he has one on his leg from trying to prove to his friends he could climb a tree, he ended up falling straight down again
Modifications: tba.
Distinguishing Features: If applicable

Likes:
everything to do with radio, all clint eastwood movies, espresso and playboy
Dislikes: myspace, ghosts, ghouls, anything paranormal related, working out, reading
Habits: smokes and loves fidgeting with anything within hand reach
Fears: never finding anybody who will love him truly and or be a failing radio host
Personal Items: Do they have any personal items they keep on their person at all times?

Vices/Virtues:

vices:
resentful– he holds onto unresolved feelings about his dad’s obsession with the paranormal, and that comes out in his radio show and personal life.
overcompensating – the tough-guy act is a defense mechanism but a pretty transparent one that can be pretty loud and is anything but subtle.
stubborn – he refuses to deal with his emotional baggage, especially when it comes to his dad’s influence on him.
passive-aggressive – his unresolved issues sometimes come out as subtle, underhanded jabs and especially when he's talking about the paranormal. in his words; ''about all the crazy people who live right here, in crystal cove.''

virtues:
charismatic– even with all the inner turmoil, his confident front and quirky style makes him somehow likeable, especially to the audience. In his real life Christopher sometimes struggled to keep friends or really get to know them. He would shut down whenever anyone would get too close and this would drive most of his friends away.
tenacious – his drive to keep the radio show going shows he’s persistent, even though it's pretty one-sided and his biggest fan is his own mother, he never gives up.
quick-witted – he’s clever and sharp, able to handle tough situations on air and improvise, which helps hide his insecurities and shortcomings. the only time his quick witting fails him is when he's talking to a cute girl.
loyal – deep down, he has a sense of loyalty, especially when it comes to family, even though it's clouded by bitterness and grudges, he would never let his real friends down.

Background:
-
christopher was born and raised in crystal cove with his older brother and little sister, his father was an army man and married his mother when they were only twenty-one. his father got kicked off duty when he started developing some alcohol problems, only a few years later the real problems began. after a midnight stroll, he came back distressed and started acting paranoid, sometimes to the point of getting real agressive. he started saving newspapers with anything related to the paranormal.
- christopher always felt like a big dissapointment and when his older brother finally left the nest, he was stuck with his father who did everything to make it all about him. christopher didn't believe in ghosts and did not understand why his father had to give all his attention to it. when he was only ten years old his mother divorced his father and they moved to a different part of town. his mother thought it would help but it got worse, his father broke all contact and christopher felt hopeless, having to be there for his sister and his mother.
- christopher didn't do any good in school and didn't have lots of friends, when christopher was 14 he discovered the magic of radio and wanted to spread his own message, one that explained how stupid it was to believe in fairytales.
