Eli
The Breathing Master
Hi there. I'm Eli. I'm looking for one-on-one writing partners. Below you'll find information on how I roleplay, what I expect out of my partners, and a few potential plots. If you're interested in roleplaying with me, please PM me or post below. Thanks.
I'm seeking a partner who is flexible and who will contribute to the plot. I want to collaborate with you and develop characters with depth and plots that are engaging. You need to give me something to work with, and I'll do the same for you. It'd be awesome if you can also fit the following:
Okay, uh, maybe I'll think of more for that. Here's what you'll get from me:
Now I'm gonna give you a list of all the basic genres and for each one tell you if I'll do it, and if so, what I would do within it. I've excluded fandoms because I'll be addressing a few under the Plots section.
Genres:
I think I addressed the major ones. Hm.
The following are ideas I've got. Most of them are quite malleable. All of them are vague. Some of them I won't do unless you've got certain knowledge of certain communities, or certain television shows, films, or video games. So without further ado...
THE AVENGERS (Marvel Cinematic Universe): I play Bruce Banner. You play Tony Stark, Clint Barton, Steve Rogers, or Natasha Romanoff. We play a platonic or perhaps romantic roleplay in a slightly more realistic, slightly darker Marvel Cinematic Universe. This may be set after any of the Marvel films, though preferably after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We may bend canon slightly, too. I've got some ideas, but right now I'm just looking for someone willing to play these canons, and play them well.
NARUTO (Yeah, that Naruto): This can go two different ways. We play canons, edit canon where we don't like it (because I don't particularly like much of the canon), and/or set it somewhere in the original timeline. If we're playing canon characters, I'd be playing Kakashi. You can choose a character, preferably one of the adults like Iruka, Asuma, Tenzo, etc. We figure out what we want to do and what direction we want to go in, but exploring the characters is the main goal. Can go in a darker, less love-defeats-all sort of direction.
Or we can develop original characters. I'm picky with Naruto plots, though. Let's not go too overboard with the superpowers and family massacres and stuff, okay?
CRIMINAL MINDS (Yep, let's get the crappy fan stuff out of the way first, shall we?): I play Dr. Spencer Reid or possibly one of the other characters. You play pretty much whoever you want from the main cast. I'd prefer not to go in a romantic route for this one--again, I want to explore the characters, especially in a more realistic, and darker, way. These characters have seen and experienced some pretty horrific stuff--why don't we show the consequences of it all? I might have a few ideas for this as well, which I'll bother typing out when someone expresses interest.
FARGO (TV): Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers, before the events of the show. We give them guys to hunt, we explore their characters while keeping their integrity intact, and develop the interesting dynamic we saw on the show. For this I'd like my partner to have knowledge on American Sign Language and know about the Deaf community to a certain extent, because that's the language our partners will be using the most. I know a bit of ASL myself, and know a few things about the Deaf community too, but I am by no means an expert. Because of this I am especially hesitant to do this roleplay--I want to do things right.
HOSPICE (Inspired by The Antlers' album): This is based off of a really depressing album with hard-to-understand lyrics and sound that you may or may not like. But if you read the lyrics, listen to it, man, there's a story to tell. I want to adapt a roleplay similar to it, but out of respect maybe not identical to it. Our personal interpretations might be different in some ways, too, but this roleplay will involve illness, death, a very unhealthy relationship, and some controversial topics. Because of this, this is another plot I am hesitant to jump right into.
FURRIES IN SPACE (But not really.): We play two (or three, if we want a third person) aliens from the same planet. They are of different races--in appearance, think of ripoffs of the Worgen from World of Warcraft, and ripoffs of Argonians and Khajiit from the Elder Scrolls. In culture and in other ways, totally different, but. Just trying to give you an idea. These races have been warring for centuries, and their planet is being destroyed in the process--in fact, it's deteriorating, and they need to find a new planet if they are to survive. So a secret operation goes underway, and two (or three) individuals set off in a cramped and clunky spaceship in search of a planet (or two, or three planets) than can sustain life.
So these guys are confined in the spaceship together, and at first they probably don't think very highly of each other. It's a tenuous alliance, but they need to work together. For this roleplay I've got parts of an overall story arc planned out, but we can fill it up with adventures to strange planets, encounters with eccentric peoples, and some action and bickering and both comedic and more dramatic themes.
HARRY POTTER: Let's play adult wizards in the Harry Potter universe. It can take place pretty much any time, though I don't want it to go too far into the past or too far into the future. Well. It depends. Anyways, I want us to develop characters in the wizarding community (are they aurors, are they teachers at Hogwarts, are they owners of a shop in Diagon Alley?), I want us to develop a conflict, and I want to explore Harry Potter and have some fun with it. I'd prefer something taking place in or around Hogwarts or Hogsmeade, especially if we're playing teachers. Otherwise aurors might be interesting.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (Kinda like the film Her--or even set in that universe): Slightly futuristic. Technology is the center of every person's social life. Artificial Intelligence is developed. Enter lonely person who purchases/obtains Artificial Intelligence system (whether it's robotic, a computer, an app, a widget, a cute little digimon--shut up I'm tired), and... You see where I'm going with this, right? Platonic or romantic, we can add in some conflict, I ought to stop typing and start thinking, because I swear I had some real plots here with actual... plot-iness.
Yeah, I'm done for now. I have REAL plots somewhere in my brain, but they'll have to be added in later. Thanks for reading, if you read anything other than this.
- Be able to write at least one or two paragraphs per post. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation should be pretty damn decent.
- Be patient with me. In return, I won't nag you about posting speed. You can take days, even weeks, and while I'll be eagerly awaiting your next post, I won't be freaking out about where you've gone and what you're doing and oh my goodness, are you out past your curfew--yeah. You get the point.
- Be available OOC. I like regular communication with my partner.
- Be... somewhat competent? Even though that makes me sound like a total douche? Which I am?
Okay, uh, maybe I'll think of more for that. Here's what you'll get from me:
- At least two paragraphs per response, unless we've specifically agreed to do shorter posts for a short amount of time. I'll generally post more than four or five hundred words. I can do thousand word posts, but frankly, roleplayers who do truly novel-style sort of roleplaying may find my word count lacking.
- Effort. I could, actually, care less. Which means I care to a certain extent. Yeah. Which to me is in fact a rather satisfactory extent, if we click as writing partners.
- Willingness to collaborate and compromise. I want us both to be happy with it, so let's work together and find a good middle ground, yeah?
- Slow posts. Yep, that's right guys, slow posts. Sometimes I can do one or two in a day. Sometimes I can post every other day. Sometimes I'll give you one post over the span of a week. I've got stuff to do on the real life front, and roleplaying is a pastime for, y'know, my free time, which I don't have a terrible abundance of. But like I mentioned before, I won't nag you about posting speed, either.
- Too much freaking rambling. Look at this list. Jeez.
- A winning smile, a great sense of humor, and an outgoing attitude. But not really. I'm done here.
- Oh, wait, yeah, that's right. I mostly play males. Only in certain circumstances will I play a female--I should branch out more, but I'll do it when I want to. However, any pairing combination is good with me (though, due to me playing a dude, we might not see much FxF), and queer-identified characters are totally welcome.
- Now I'm done. Maybe.
Now I'm gonna give you a list of all the basic genres and for each one tell you if I'll do it, and if so, what I would do within it. I've excluded fandoms because I'll be addressing a few under the Plots section.
Genres:
- Science Fiction -- Large, sprawling worlds with tons of lore to read up on throw me off a little. Otherwise I'm game for most types of sci-fi.
- Fantasy -- Like science fiction, the huge, high fantasy worlds are kinda intimidating. I'm more skeptical of fantasy than most genres, so we'd need a really good concept to make me want to do this one.
- Historical -- History is awesome. It's less awesome when I roleplay it, because I'm a perfectionist and I need to get details right, dammit! So yeah, I won't be playing this, because I'll end up spending more time researching than roleplaying.
- Realistic or Slice of Life -- I like this, so long as we have a solid concept to work off of. It's gotta be interesting, y'know? I do tend to avoid school settings, though.
- Horror or Supernatural -- I'm willing to do this, but again, it depends on the concept. I like shapeshifters and werewolves, ghosts and ghouls, and angels and demons. I'm not too excited about vampires, though if you'd like to play one, I don't think I'd mind.
