Personality
Caspar’s focus of life is making sure no one ever truly knows him. He presents personas to the world, hiding who he is from others and even himself at times.

Most often, Caspar’s presented personality is an imitation of his brother Tobias. A man who gave and did everything asked of him, Tobias was thought of as mentally weak. He was described as a fool--a kind fool, but one nonetheless. Caspar lacks the patience needed to model Tobias exactly, but anyone who hasn’t experienced the genuine and complete lack of ego Tobias displayed would be hard-pressed to call Caspar’s version anything less.

Those who meet Caspar in his masked identity or those who know him from his teenage years would find it easy to describe him. Flagrantly arrogant, they would say, but with the cunning to back it up. In this persona, games of the mind are Caspar’s playground. He takes great joy in outsmarting those who underestimate him. He’s calculating, but you wouldn’t know it from his boisterousness.

Beaten down by insecurity and loss, Caspar has hidden his most sincere desires since the death of his brother. After Tobias’s death, Caspar came to the (faulty) realization that no one else in the world would accept him. And if they wouldn’t see him as an equal, he’d force them to see him as superior. He has an insatiable curiosity, but he feels like he can only get his way by forcing himself to the top of the pack.

The problem is when he forgets himself to the persona he plays. Tell yourself a lie too often, and you’ll start to believe it. When he’s feeling unsure, a well-placed barb or a sense of failure will easily make his walls crumble. He’s not one to unconsciously lose himself to anger, but when he does, it’s an explosion.

Backstory (Summary)
The son of fairly successful business folk, Caspar was set to coast through life if he could just follow rules. But he was a rambunctious child, one with endless reserves of curiosity and energy--the latter of which would prove to be a problem. To the servants, he was a menace; to his parents, he was a nuisance.

His lack of boundaries caused problems in every relationship he had, except with his older brother Tobias. The pair had an unwavering bond, and Caspar viewed Tobias as the one person who understood him. With Tobias’s help cleaning up his messes, building him up, and allowing him to run free, Caspar was able to refine pieces of his rough personality.

But one day, Tobias, idealistic and selfless as he was, left home to join the army. A couple years later, word came of Tobias’s death. Accompanied by two soldiers and the commander of his regiment--due to their parents’ status--Tobias’s body was returned. The soldiers somberly paid their respects, but when they left the room and Caspar was in place to eavesdrop, he heard the callous jokes they made and the insults they had for the boy who had died.

Caspar began to rebel against the world, his parents, the monarchy, anything he could. Anything and everything was thrown at his feet, but the only experience that calmed him was being able to hit and be hit back. Nothing changed until Caspar found the courage to venture into Tobias’s room and pore over his old belongings. The last journal Tobias had kept expounded on his desires for heroism: to serve the people and be strong enough to save them.

Caspar wasn’t as selfless as his brother, but he was going to fulfill Tobias’s desire. But he’d do it as a hero of the people, not a hero of the monarchy.

He let his parents know to expect him back rarely (not that they minded), took a chunk of their savings, and set out. He moved from area to area, slowly making his way toward the capital as he developed his skills. Along the way, he made the acquaintance of a black market weaponsmith. Highly recommended in the criminal circles, Caspar paid an exorbitant price to commission a pair of gauntlets. Yet the finished product was worth the price.

Having built up his strength fight-by-fight, when he was strong enough, Caspar took up residence in the outskirts of the capital, venting his frustrations on any enforcer or monarchy crony that stepped out of line.

Powers & Skills
Hand-to-Hand Combat
Caspar was trained by masters of different combat styles when he was growing up. However, he never stuck with one style long enough to master it. Once he started as a vigilante, he refined his own style in a trial by fire.

Gauntlets, Normal
Caspar’s gauntlets use four vials (two in his right gauntlet, two in his left) of alchemical substances to generate different powers. Caspar is not able to control the strength of these attacks in a traditional manner. Instead, a set amount of the substance will filter out of the gauntlets once the tube is opened. To create a stronger attack, Caspar must leave the gate open longer.

Each vial contains enough substance for 10 singular uses.

Ice (Left): A layer of ice forms around the gauntlet, strengthening physical attacks or protecting from a small impact. The layer is only able to survive a hit or two before it shatters. Should be used simultaneously with heat. The ice will freeze Caspar’s hands if heat is not also used to negate the cold.

Heat (Left): Heats the gauntlets by 20 degrees when used. Able to warm hands and deal minor burns when hit. Caspar must use ice if he wants to quickly diminish the heat.

Wind (Right): Released through the back of the gauntlets, speeds up fists, making punches more powerful. Wind is released at 10 mph/charge. Activating this power while his arm is poorly situated is likely to cause injury (muscle overextension or arm dislocation).

Electricity (Right): Electricity congregates around the top (wrist) portion of the gauntlets, creating a small, forcefield-like shield. Blocks projects, and can be slammed into objects/people, though it doesn’t shock anything.

Gauntlets, Full Release
Caspar releases the gauntlet’s safeguards and uses the entirety of the remaining substance within a vial to discharge an attack of greater strength

Wind: Blades of wind sprout from the gauntlet, cutting anything they make contact with. Depending on how much fluid is left, the blades will either surround Caspar’s arm, cutting it in the process, or his body, doing the same. But this prevents people from easily approaching.

Ice: Ice quickly sprouts from the gauntlet’s point of contact, creating sheets of ice across the surface. This also works against living targets. However, if Caspar is not in contact with anything else, the ice will instead spread to him, damaging the gauntlet in the process.

Electricity: A large field of electricity is released, briefly protecting Caspar from larger projectiles. Depending on how much fluid is remaining, the field is either a wall of about his body height or a field surrounding him completely. Approximately 10 seconds after it is created, the shield discharges, shocking Caspar.

Heat: The gauntlets rapidly heat enough to melt through metal. Caspar has only a couple seconds until the gauntlets burn through the protective layering he wears and burn his skin. Caspar has to either rapidly cool the gauntlets (using a full release of ice while he isn’t in contact with another surface) or remove the gauntlet itself.
