Laundry List of Questions

Lady Warlock

Anime RN
Let me start out by saying this: NONE of these questions are in immediate need of an answer and none of them are meant to sound rude so I apologize if it ever comes off that way. I'm running on very little sleep at the moment. Anyway, I would prefer if the only responses could be responses containing answers to any one of these questions in no particular order. If something doesn't have an answer, I would rather wait for someone to reply to that question until there is an answer if such a thing is possible. I can be patient, but the more people tell me to be patient, the harder it will be for me to do so. So, without further ado... the laundry list:

  • How is the general process of moving content from old to new system going so far? Is the order of the requests coming in being considered at all when moving content or are things just being moved as mods choose them? Just curious to know...
  • Is there any estimated time as to when coding in old posts will be as functional as it's going to get? I've been told some of the code might be able to be translated over, but I haven't seen any estimated time on it.
  • Are there any codes that it is known for sure will not carry over? Every time I see someone post about it, they say that most codes will carry over which implies that some will not.
  • Is it possible to have a forum in the group rp system that has discussion threads and does not require a "Parent Forum"? If so, how?
  • I am in the dark format of the site. There are posts people made in my rps very early on that show up in all black font. I tried to go in to edit it, selected the whole post and changed it to the default, and some of the text is still black which means I can't read it. The post in question is here: https://www.rpnation.com/topic/246982-sebastian-frendly-wip/ . How do I change the color to something that I can read and will I always have to change it?
  • Will there be a system of labels similar to "Detailed, Casual and Simple" from the old site? I've had people asking to join my roleplays based on title (because content hasn't been moved yet) and when I tell them a bit more about it, they have no interest anymore because they aren't multi-paragraph writers. I feel this problem could be alleviated if they could see the detail required somewhere in the rp list.

Uhm... I think those are the questions that come to mind at the moment. Again, these are not rush questions. I just wanted to get them out there so that if someone does know answers, I might be able to get them.

If any of these have been asked already, my apologies. There are a lot of question threads with information regarding the update and it is very hard to keep track of all of them.

  1. We have all the support requests, and the staff are working on them as they come in. Some RPs will be migrated earlier than others, it depends on how much information the user gives us (links to the old RP, links to the new RP), and how large the RP is. Hosted Projects will take a long time because we have to migrate the threads one by one.
  2. I've been told that the database will need 5 to 7 days to finish indexing itself - aka, rebuilding its own interior table of contents. This means that a number of small bugs should slowly fix themselves over the next week.
  3. Truthfully I don't know which codes will make it over and which won't.
  4. It is not possible. All forums must be contained within a parent category. Categories can be their own parents, however, they only hold forums and not threads. It's like a Russian stacking doll. Threads go inside forums go inside categories.
  5. I do not have any personal experience with the dark format, so I can't help you here. I hope another user can.
  6. As far as I'm aware right now, the level-of-detail prefixes will not be returning. This may change. I may be wrong. In the meantime, you can tag your thread as simple/casual/detailed when you create it.
