The Guy
LASTING LIGHT.
INTRODUCTION.Lasting Light is your typical Zombie Apocalypse Roleplay. The dead will walk, shamble, and crawl but they don't run nor are there any special kinds. Sure, you'll find the occasional zombie who has been morphed by it's environment because mother nature decided to reclaim the corpse in some way, but that's about it. The Roleplay will be set a little more than eighteen months into the apocalypse, a majority of the population has already perished and there are an extreme few small societies still standing. Most of who is left are either surviving on their own or have joined up with others to make some sort of safe haven in this dangerous world.
Our characters will be among two of those such haven's. Though your character is free to be on their own as well, just as long as they either join up with one location in the long run or at the very least have some connection/trading with either location. Just to keep your character intertwined in the overall story. For now I'm thinking 8-10 people would be a good number of people for this. However I have no idea how much interest this will garner so we'll just see how it goes. In the off chance we don't have many people/characters the story may re-direct towards one safe haven with split sides.
More details on everything in the Roles/Setting tabs.
Be aware that this is essentially my first time running a roleplay, so go easy on me. LOL.
RULES.1. RPNation rules apply.
2. No OOC drama. Just be nice and respect one another, it's simple. However IC drama is encouraged.
3. Try to post once every week or so, this can be difficult especially if you end up waiting on someone else's post so I'm not going to keep up with who does and doesn't. Mostly it's just me asking you to try and not hold everyone up too often is all.
4. If you're going to be absent just let us know! (Simply message me privately if you like.) Ghosting someone you are interacting with or the group in general for a long period of time isn't fun for anyone. And if you'd rather drop the roleplay it's understandable. :]
Roleplay Rules
A. Three character maximum for the time being, maybe later we'll add more though.
B. Aim for realistic characters. We'll also be keeping the amount of military-esque characters very limited for good reason.
C. Real face claim's only, sorry. If that's an issue for you then feel free to write out a description.
D. No one-liner's. This is a semi-literate roleplay and a 1-2 paragraph minimum is what I'm aiming for, but frankly I'm a fan of quality over quantity. Not that you can't have both.
WARNING!! These aren't up to date, to check what roles are open be sure to check the CS thread or the interest check thread.
ROLES.Highschool Leader 0/1 This person is in charge of the new group. They weren't in charge back in Knox, but with those people being dead, and the people still alive in need of guidance, they've stepped up to make the tough decisions. This person makes the final call on anything that effects the entire group.
Highschool Second-In-Command 0/1 The Second-In-Command was either elected by the rest of the group or asked to be the second by the current leader. This person is someone who helps the leader keep the place running and make sure everyone is doing what they're meant to.
Highschool Medics 0/2 Those people with any kind of medical training or knowledge that can be used to help anyone sick or injured. There are a total of three medics.
Highschool Scavengers 0/3 This is the team of people who go out into the world to find whatever they can to bring back. There are a total of ten scavengers.
Highschool Member 0/~ The normal members of the group. This is a bit of a broad term and these people can be doing any number of tasks/jobs to help the group overall with whatever skills they have.
Hospital Council Members 1/3 The group put together a council pretty early on after arriving here in an attempt to keep everything fair and allow for debate on the major issues. Typically they go by majority rules in votes, there's a total of five members at any given time. Three of the five have been members since the group arrived here, the other two took over at some point in the past year for previous members.
Hospital Medics 0/2 Those people with any kind of medical training or knowledge that can be used to help anyone sick or injured. There are a total of five medics.
Hospital Scavengers 0/3 This is the team of people who go out into the world to find whatever they can to bring back. There are a total of sixteen scavengers.
Hospital Member 2/~ The normal members of the group. This is a bit of a broad term and these people can be doing any number of tasks/jobs to help the group overall with whatever skills they have. They can help with the garden, work security, be a part of handling the armory etc.
Loner 0/3 Loners are the people who aren't living with a group. This is either forced or by choice, some just don't know the groups are out there and some refuse to join them. (If you make a loner they either A. must join one of the groups eventually or B. visit/trade with one of the said groups on occasion. Or maybe have family/friends/enemies in one of them. I'm up for options here but don't want anyone left out in the end.)
Changing or adding more roles is up in the air.

Oaksville, Indiana. November 11th, 2020.
Oaksville is fictional location so that we can be a bit creative with the layout and buildings.
Oaksville Memorial Hospital is home to a group of fifty-six survivors. It started out with a group that held one if the buildings former employee's showing up and deciding to fix it up into a defendable home. This occurred around five months into the apocalypse, and has held up against many a crisis over the last year. Over that time the group came across people, or had others show up at their front door seeking refuge which bolstered their numbers but also forced them to scavenge more for supplies. The hospital has a seven foot wall of thrown together wood, fencing, and wire encircling it. Their front gate is in front of the ambulance bay area. The building itself has all of it's first floor windows boarded up, and is mostly used for miscellaneous storage and other types of rooms. The second floor is the majority of housing and rooms that the population lives in, this however overflows into the third floor as well. The third floor is the top floor and is half housing and the other half is used for things such as schooling for the kids, food/water storage, and the armory. The roof is used mostly for any type of simple outdoor activity, it also has a makeshift garden on it, as well as clotheslines for drying any clothes/bedding.
Northview Highschool is home to a group of thirty-three survivors. Having only taken the place over in the last two weeks it's still being built up but has come a long way from when they arrived. This groups previous home was originally in the next town over, Knox, but it fell after only two months when a large group of dead tore into it. They are simply the leftovers of what that place was, though it was lost before it really ever got started. Opting to risk the trek further out they hoped to find a new place with some fresh supplies to scavenge. The classrooms have been cleared out and boarded up to store what they have as well as make room for whatever type of makeshift beds they've brought in. For the moment it's mostly cots and sleeping bags since finding anything better is low on the priority for the time being.
The thing is, the hospital and the school are only a few miles away from each other. And with resources already becoming sparse the fact that these two groups are now fighting over them is making everything that much more difficult. So far only some of their scavengers and scouts have really had run in's with each other, but both group is aware of the other at this point. People on both sides have concerns over whether or not the opposite group is a danger, and if nothing else grabbing any supplies that could be theirs.
