The No Man's Land tavern is run by a dwarf bartender named Lief Wooddrow. Due to running his tavern for so long and for having some of the best damn drinks in all of Lamed Lief is extremely rich. He uses his money to pay off nobility and guards so that they can't touch his tavern regardless of who he harbors. Lief absolutely forbids fighting in his tavern, hence the name "No Man's Land Tavern." You fight, you get kicked out. And if you think you can get back in then keep dreaming. The Tavern's staff consists of experienced adventurers including Lief himself. This Tavern is where our heroes find themselves.

Karry Asher
oh how I wish I was home
Karry was having a bad day. Of course, she'd had nothing but bad days ever since she was captured about two years ago. But today was particularly bad. She had had three close calls with the castle guard amd was now taking refuge inside the No Man's Land Tavern. She was trying hee best to be invisible, sitting in a corner trying to be ignored. All she really wanted was to leave and go back to her village and her family. She sighed.

Kai (John Kenway)
John walked into the back of the tavern for he was ready to start his Evening shift as Custodian. He‘s a single man who sighed, lamenting the fact that he hadn’t found love before he grabbed the mop and bucket. He carried his dry mop over his shoulder and carried a bucket full of floor wax to insure that the varnish was reapplied to the wooden floor.

He set the bucket of varnish down as he soaked his mop in the solution. He generally didn’t talk to customers because he was there to get his Copper pieces and survive. Much to his suprise, however, there was a Kitsune customer like him. Kai would talk to her, but he had a floor to varnish and he wasn’t paid to flirt.

Alexis Makarov

The pouch of gold coins jingled happily in her bag as she strolled carelessly towards the tavern stepping over the three burnt corpses on the side of the road that were some thugs.

" What is it with people and elves? I mean I know what we did but that was ages ago I mean I wasn't even alive at the time"

Alexis slung her bow onto her back and pushed open the doors of the Tavern. Looking around briefly she smiled and made her way to the back of the tavern to the bartender and orders a strong drink while sitting down at the bar.

"Hi there Mr bartender, could I get the strongest thing you have, please? Oh, and do you have any 'work' for me to do? I'm in desperate need of some gold my way"

She sat there, bored, waiting for her drink and places a gold coin on the counter when she eventually receives it. Downing the drink in one o she looks closer at the people in the bar.'a woman in the corner, drunk people in a corner and a guy sweeping some dust with a bartender who looks like he doesn't want to be fucked with' she thought and places her shot on the table and asks politely for another one.

"Oh, Mr bartender I forgot to ask but do you know why there are so many guards out?"

Kai (John Kenway)
John waxed the floors around the tables to insure that the hardwood retained its shine. He swept towards Alexis’ barstool until he carefully walked back to his bucket and carried it over right behind Alexis’ barstool. He dipped his mop in the bucket and began waxing behind the barstools.

Thatagan "Thar" Ironwood
I need a rest. I can head out in the morning.
Tharagan "Thar" Ironwood was tired. He needed a room and a drink and he needed it now. Luckily there was a tavern. The No Man's Land Tavern. He opened the door and went over to the bar. He took out his coin purse.

"One ale please." Thar said to the bartender and proprietor of the Tavern, Lief Wooddrow. He didn't speak common too well but that was a simple phrase.

Once the glass was passed to him he placed a gold coin on the table.

"Thank you." He said, pleased. He started sipping his ale. Better to take it slowly so as not to be hit all at once.

Waking up with a grunt it took Kurrol a minute to realize where he was. With a yawn, he stood and grabbed for his shirt. Kurrol had been staying here for a couple of days. There is just something about taverns that he liked. Maybe it was the beds or the access to ale and food. Not to mention the people that just wander in. The only real downside was that you have to pay for it. Now that he was thinking about it he felt the pangs of hunger and that dwarven thirst. Now that he was dressed it was time to head down.

Rayen Kai

Rayen drowsily made her way down to the bar. She arrived late last night after completing a monster hunt. Nothing too big, just an adolescent chimera, but it played fairly well so she was stocked with coin for the time being. Normally taverns were too expensive for her taste, she would rather sleep under the stars in a hammock made of string, though the occasion seemed right for celebration.

"I'll just have a water for now" she muttered out to the bartender. It was still way to early for alcohol. Noticing the custodian waxing away she sat in the stool to get her feet of the floor. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

Kai (John Kenway)
John had been waxing the floors as usual when he heard ‘Taverns are too expensive for my taste’ comming through the next customer’s head immediately followed by 'The hunt paid well.’ ‘HUNT!’ thought Kai ‘as in Monster hunter?’ Kai’s clan had instilled deep fear of human monster hunters like her since he was first waned.

Kai was dangerously close to a murderer as the handle was dangerously close to Rayen’s legs. Once she spoke all he could say was “Oh no your fine!” was all he could say trying to wax the floors away from where Rayen was sitting while an unseen tail was tucked between his otherwise human legs.

Dreamscape Dreamscape

"Oh, ok." She continued to sit there as the kitsune waxed around her. As the bartender walked by her she got his attention with a slight wave of the hand. "Have you heard rumors lately? Any jobs that require more of an... expert's touch?"

The bartender looked back at Rayen with disapproving eyes. "Keep dreaming kid. You'd have better luck mopping the floors like this fool" he pointed to Kai with a chuckle.

Even with the morning grog, she stood on the connecting bars on the stool to be taller and still not touch the newly waxed floor. Placing her hands on the table she raised her voice slightly. "Well at least that 'fool' has a better heart than you. Maybe I would have better luck like him."

Karry Asher
huh? Who is that?
Karry was sitting in the corner doing her usual "avoid being noticed" schtick. Several people passed by and she scrunched smaller. Why couldn't she be back home. She scanned the tavern. Someone here should be willing to smuggle her out... if she could work up the will to ask them. But someone caught her eye. A janitor, he looked familiar. Had he been in the Forest Camp? Impossible. He was human. But he looked familiar. She worked up some nerve and dodged through the crowd, occasionally shifting from human to fox form. Finally she reached him. She tapped him on the shoulder.

"Um... excuse me?" She said in a small voice.

Kai (John Kenway)
Kai tried his best to ignore Raymen as he finnally was able to walk away from the monster hunter and bring his bucket with him. He dipped his mop in the wax and spread it below the last barstools in the row as his Boss talked about him. He wanted nothing to do with Raymen right now.

Suddenly, he recieved a tap & a whisper “What do you want!” said John waxing below the barstools.

Karry Ashed
This was a bad idea! I knew it was! Why did I do this!
Karry jumped. She let out a little yelp. This was a bad idea. Why had she done it. She was so, so, so, stupid. She really wanted this to be a bad dream.

"I-I'm sorry I'll just go now." She said, voice still small.

Kieran pulled the hood of her cloak closer to her face, allowing the fabric to conceal her identity as she walked into the tavern, allowing her eyes to adjust to the dim lighting of the musty building.
A dark, unoccupied corner of the tavern soon struck her fancy as she took a seat in the darkest part of the space, allowing her grey eyes to search the space of the tavern, an observant gaze taking notice of each figure that stood and conversed in the tavern.
Her eyes soon took notice of a particular man sitting on the other side of the tavern, playing a deck of cards with some comrades as they made light conversation.
"Would you like a drink?", a serving girl suddenly made an appearance by Kieran's table, holding a jug of some sort of alcoholic substance. Kieran's only response was a dismissive wave of her hand, her gaze still trained on the man across the room.
"Well, ok", the serving girl said as she turned away, "Holler if you change your mind".
Kieran ignored the girl as she reached into a pocket inside her cloak, procuring forth a small piece of parchment. She took her eyes off the man for a moment to study the paper she held in her gloved hands, searching every feature of the persons face printed on the paper, as she had done so many times before. This had to be the man.
Kieran took a breath before shoving the paper back into her pocket, standing up from her place in the darkness to make her way over to the man, determination in her stride.

The conversation around the table soon died down as they caught sight of the cloaked figure coming towards them, the one man in particular looking up from his deck of cards to catch sight of the unknown person.
"Ey boss, you gotta visitor", one of the groupies piped up as Kieran neared; a stout dwarf with what looked like a broken nose, his aged face watching Kieran closely.
"Hmm", the man hummed, placing his cards down to rest his head in his hands, his eyes trained on Kieran, "I know".
Kieran took an uninvited seat besides the dwarf, ignoring the stares that were laid on her, her attention fully on the man they called "Boss".
She instinctively took out the paper and laid it on the table, pushing it forward with slender fingers.
"I was told you could help", Kieran finally spoke, her voice no more than a hushed tone, "I believe the parchment explains things".
The man gave a low chuckle, his eyes glancing over the paper before saying, "I might, but it will take more than that".
Kieran gave a 'hmph' as she reached into one of her pouches, grabbing a couple gems before sliding them onto the table, "Will this help clear things?", she whispered, her voice muffled by the mask that covered half her face, her eyes the only feature seen.
The mans green eyes soon glossed over with greed as he beheld the rare gems, before soon pocketing them, not taking any chances of others seeing them, "Yes", he cooed, "That should do just nicely".
"Good", Kieran said, keeping her tone low and emotionless, "Tell me where he is".
The mans only response was a wicked smile.

Kai (John Kenway)
’Bad idea?!’ wondered Kai ‘What did she do?’ He stopped waxing and turned towards her while darting back at Raymen before whispering back “There is a monster hunter in this tavern, if your concerned about anything, you can easily tell me.“

Karry Asher
Whyyyyy!
Karry didn't hear him. She was already halfway across the room. People terrified her. Everything terrified her. She just wanted to go home.

Kai (John Kenway)

Once Karry had walked away, John had decided to go back to his job. He had reached the other end of the room finnally waxing the floor before the ‘staff only’ area. He walked back towards his bucket and carried it over to the corner table so he can resume waxing the floor around the various tables all the while trying to avoid the customers.

Alexis noticed the sweeper behind her and allowed him to continue doing his job before interrupting him before he moves onto another spot

Making mental notes of the characters in the bar 'Goliath looks nasty, if a confrontation were to occur I should keep at a range. Thieves, I should watch my pockets. kitsune, unknown, should avoid at all costs. Alchemist, shoot his potions. Adventurer, human, shoot vital points.'

She hummed happily while thinking about the other people in the bar occasionally ordering a strong drink and cautiously looks around the bar studying the characters in detail. She pretends not to eavesdrop on the conversation with the other thief and the cleaner by staring at the bottom of her glass pretending to be drunk.
Noticing the cleaner now has finished his conversation with him she asks him.

"Hey, Janitor kid.you got any work for me to do?"

Rayen Kai

Hearing the word "work" come from somewhere other than herself gave her some hope of finding her next adventure. Indescreetly she listened in, placing her head on her upright arm to seem like she was resting. In reality, she was using her arm to cancel out surrounding sounds and listen in through the gap. She wondered why the person next to her was asking the custodian for work. Maybe she asked the bartender earlier to no avail? Regardless, she wanted to know more.

The Sandman walked into the tavern, sword sheathed and walking in a calm demeanor. he went over to a table, hearing some words thrown here & there, like somebody asking for work, he sat down, looking at everyone there, he then ordered a drink. He took a sip and stared at the room once again.

"I should be able to steal a thing or two." He whispered to himself right before he took a sip.

In all honesty, he would rather take on a bounty than steal here. But he had no work to do, he just robbed a caravan a few days ago. He should be set. And that's exactly what he thought. But something nagged inside the Sandman, to have him steal. And he was bound to give in.

'Adventurer has snuggled up next to me and that elf looks like he means business, great.' she thought as she waited for the response from the janitor

"Anyone in there? Helloooo?! Did you hear me mr janitor? I Need money so if you have any subjugation work for me or any bounties i'd gladly take them"

She quickly looked at the elf that had just entered before ordering another drink

"Yes Mr bartender for that dashing figure in the mask"

She points directly at the elf that had just walked in. Carefully she unclips her knife before putting both hands on the table

Kai (John Kenway)
‘Adventurer? Shoot?’ wondered John ‘Is she an assasin?’ Once the supposed assasin asked him a question “If your work involves killing, then no I don’t have any work” Said John resuming a job of his own as he waxed around Alexis’ table ‘why did I say that!’ he thought ‘If she knows about my mindreading powers, she’ll know for sure i’m a kitsune.’ Kai shivered at the thought of his fox form being executed & stuffed into a rug. In spite of all the worries, he carried on waxing the floors around the tables

The Sandman sat there, oblivious to the bounty just set on him, he took a sip. "Life is good..." He studied the place before downing his drink, he sat there. He looked at the different people around him. Looking at the kitsune chatting with this menacing looking figure. " If they're out to kill me..." He thought, brushing it off as his imagination. He looked over to the person resting, probably sleeping. And then click, the urge to steal kicked in. He was now carefully planning out his next move, how many coin he would take, if he could steal a mana potion or two, he sat there, studying them. Grinning under the mask.

"are you suuuuure you have no work for me? Aren't your neighbors pissing you off? Aren't guards giving you any problems?" 'Jesus Christ give me your damn money already, its not like your family is sick in bed or anything''

'i should probably watch my shit. Hmm, he quite heavily armoured so a shortsword and a knife would do nothing.I should probably try and get him with my compound bow but its a bit conspicuous. Maybe I can slide my knife under the helmet if need be. That janitor guy is looking at me funny I should probably smile or something'

Losing interest in the janitor she smiles at him before having her attention turned to the masked figure

"Hey, Mask guy! You got any jobs for me?" while she was speaking she slid a throwing knife up her sleeve

"you're looking really scary mask guy but I'm sure there is something that scares even the likes of you, so, you got anything for me?" She asked the masked elf desperately. She really needed that gold

“I guess I don’t have any money” said John “But, even if I did i wouldn’t want anyone dead, i’m just focused on trying to get by unless YOU have work!” He began to wax the floor around other tables becomming more distant from the assasin. ‘This tavern is full of trouble’ he thought ‘but that’s what you get when the owner allows anyone and everyone to buy drinks here!’ He should be used to it all as he’s worked here for over six months now, but every day seemed to be a new adventure here.

The Sandman looked at her, quite annoyed under the mask, i'm trying to steal here, not give jobs... But what if? He thought, thinking up a plan. " I'm a thief...I steal, that's my job." he said. "People would pay top dollar to get folks like me captured" He continued. trying to dance around the killing aspect of things. "but you're not so different, are you? You would do anything for gold, and so would i. So lets meet in the middle, we rob a few caravans, and we split the money three parts to one." He finished speaking. now preparing to at least dodge if she ever lunged at him, but also prepared to make robbing easier.
