Three, two, one.
Officer Gutierrez counted backwards on his fingers.

Clack clack, BOOM!
The door charge detonates. A dust cloud billows outward only long enough for the slackman to toss in his device.

BANG!

"Go, move, move!" The commander orders, his unit flowing into the building before the words left his mouth.

"Police! Show me your hands!"
"On the ground, now!"
"GUN!"
"Drop it!"

CRACK CRACK!
Several shots echo throughout the room as two suspects slam to the floor.

The third and fourth operators wrap their arms under a hostage's, dragging him out the door as the other two maintain their muzzles aimed at the nearest threat locations.

"Clear!"
"Clear! Moving-"

"Stop!"

The team freezes, letting out a collective sigh as the lights flick on in the killhouse. Blue team returns the hostage dummy to its position as Red-Two resets the shot cardboard targets.

"No good. Do it again." Guts calls from the observation deck, looking down on the roofless structure.

"Why? What was wrong that time?" Inquired Crow.

"You didn't check behind the door. You're dead, so's he. Reset!"

Sure enough, as Red-One turned to make his way back to the starting location, a third target stood nestled in the corner behind the door, crudely drawn gun pointed directly at him. Crow's shoulders slumped in exasperation, picking up his brass from the floor and dropping it in the designated bucket on the way out.

"It's not just your job. This is a collective effort, everyone! We can't forget the basics thinking about the specifics." Guts explained as he descended from the catwalk, grabbing his rifle from the rack and joining the stack. "Remember: Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Let's try it again, on me. Hey - you too! Get down here." He beckoned the sniper watching upstairs from behind a bulletproof window.

"Ready?" Actual gave Red-One a pat on the shoulder as the stack lined up before falling into position.

"Gold, bang and clear!"

Officer Choi // Red Two

"Bok"
stands just beyond the left side of the breach. He reaches for a flashbang and preps it before tossing it down the middle. "Left!" he declares as he enters the room. Bok hugs the wall with his back while moving to the leftmost corner. He keeps his Benelli at a forty-five degree angle and strafes, searching for any doors or staircases and calling those out as he sees it.

Upon entry to the room, the point and slackman again encounter two targets on either side of the hostage dummy, guns pointed at the officers. As they spread out along their walls, once again Red-One finds a suspect hidden behind the door. To the far end at twelve o'clock is a corner-fed opening to the next room, at two o'clock is an external window.

"Police! Drop your weapons!" The commander orders, to no response, keeping his rifle trained on the far door.

After they regrouped outside the first room, Crow positioned himself at the front of the stack, the glock 22 in his hand gripped tightly behind his shield. Once he received a shoulder tap from Guts and the verbal queue commenced, Crow halted just long enough to let Bok ready the flashbang, toss it in, and let the explosion ring out before pressing forward into the recently concussed room. "Right!" Crow called out as he took the direction he called. He abused the protection he held in front of him to get a good look at the room, taking into account all the factors to relay back to his team.

Fletcher scanned the room, immediately noting the two targets with a dummy hostage dead ahead. "Two guns! Hostage, twelve o'clock!" Crow called, holding the shield up as he strafed the room towards the right. once he cleared the doorway to let more of his team in, Crow checked behind the door and - lo and behold - found a target ready to gun him down. "Drop it!" Crow shouted in futility at the target as he prepared himself. Fletcher strengthened his shield arm to brace as he protected himself from potential threats, before reaching his pistol around the shield and firing off three shots. "Contact right neutralized!" He called out before proceeding to his predetermined point of domination.

Jane "Giggles" Gaewska >Status: Active
>>>Location: Killhouse

"Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." repeated Gaweska as she stacked up. One, two, three. She did a quick count, her index finger flicking from one to the second person, then she checked over her shoulder to make sure everyone is in their places. She followed, hustling up against Choi, with her left hand laid on his shoulder. She moved in after the flashbang, and as Crow called out a hostile down, she lined the MP5's sights up with the corner-fed opening to the next room. Once more, she one-handed the MP5 with the stock firm against her shoulder, as she stood adjacent to Choi and Crow. Pulling a blue glowstick from her belt, she held it betwixt her fingers and pushed it against her carrier's side plates. After hearing the 'snap', she gave it a solid shake before dropping it onto the ground, marking the room as clear for others.

"Sock. Watch that window for me." she said as her hand made its way back to the MP5's handguard. She leaned into her sub-gun a little, ready to move as soon as Red-One and Red-Two were.

~

With Giggles holding the door, another set of controlled pairs tears through the leftmost suspect as Guts completes the journey to his point of domination, holding his rifle at low-ready for a trailing officer to eliminate the last.

"Entry team to TOC, we have three suspects neutralized, one civvie in custody." He mimed a report as the unit flowed past so the arresting officer could detain the civilian. However, just as the unit passes by the window, another cardboard cutout pops its head up into the opening. No weapon is immediately visible, only the cutout's head and shoulders brandishing a nasty look.

Jason "Sock" Ramirez // BLUE-TWO

Sighed just like everyone else. One breath out.

Once breathe returned to his lungs however -- he steeled himself once more. Sock felt greener than most -- lending him to be particularly keen to listen. He would look up and listen as Guts instructed them and told them of where they'd went on. He was irritated sure -- but at no one in particular. And that irritation made him alert. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. He translated this to remain engaged into "Perfect Practice makes perfect". Doing it all correctly was the way to mastery in anything. It applied to many skills in life. And it applied to CQB. After cleanup was done the stack was remade with taking a spot among them.

When Guts asked if the team was ready, Sock would reply with as he took up his spot at the rear with a curt and confident -- "Let's go" as he felt a pat on his shoulder.

The Flashbang goes off like a starting pistol. And with that, the team begins to flood into the room. Sock is the last person to enter room, hearing gunshots as Crow smokes the guy hiding the corner. Without even so much as a glance, Sock enters the room and assumes his point of domination. He scans his sector briefly, hostage held in peripherals. After a few moments, he moved to the hostage. "It's gonna be okay." He said sincerely to the inanimate hostage dummy. For that moment, the work he did on the mats paid off, as he lifted the dummy single handedly. The doll ascended into a fireman carry and Sock carried it out the room, letting it down about the same time as Giggles dropped her glowstick.

He heard Giggles voice as she directed him. "Got it." He said curtly, his sights moving ever so slightly. "I have the window." He said clearly and curtly, communicating to unit that he was watching it. And sure enough. Much like Giggles, Sock waited until Crow and Bok were ready to move. But sure enough --

"Show me your hands!" Sock's voice echoed through the room as his sights aligned to the partially exposed dummy. The very tip of his sight rested roughly on the man's neck -- getting the closest target to center mass he could and leaving room for recoil.

The target unsurprisingly remained stagnant, keeping its eyes locked on Blue-Two's plate carrier.

"Subject noncompliant, deploying OC." Skulking behind Sock for cover, Guts draws his trusty pepper spray canister, holding it at arm's length over his squadmate's shoulder and delivering a healthy stream onto the target's face from several feet away. Actual pats Blue-Two twice on the shoulder as they advance to secure the contact.

With Sock providing lethal coverage, Guts grabs hold of the target and pulls it up through the window and onto the floor, revealing only a cell phone in its previously concealed hands.

"Entry team to TOC, one more subject in custody. Moving further into the structure." He pretends to ziptie the target's hands as he kneels on it, before rising to his feet and retaking his angle.

"Red, Sierra, stack up. Blue, maintain security. Move and clear." Actual ordered his unit towards the next door.

Slow is smooth.

Officer Griffiths - Gem, to her colleagues - had watched the first few entry attempts from the observation deck she had become quite familiar with. The role she often filled as Sierra One was one of waiting from outside, eyes peeled in case her sniper needed use. During exercises, it didn't.

Being called onto the floor was a welcome change of pace.

Smooth is fast.

Gem was the fourth person to enter the first room after the flashbang. The first two targets were readily shut down; Crow corrected his mistake from last time quite quickly, it seemed. Gem handily eliminated the third and final target in the room and waited for further instruction.

"Red, Sierra, stack up. Blue, maintain security. Move and clear." Actual ordered his unit towards the next door.

Gem moved into the third position for entry into the second room and paused again for Red-One to make his move.

Crow finished his sweep alongside the others, and once the order was given, he wasted no time readying up by the doorframe of the next room. His shield was held firmly in front of him as they prepared, and Crow awaited the call from Actual to move forward. As was typical, Crow steeled himself for the next moment. Cool nerves were paramount for someone in Crow's position. He was the bulwark to - hopefully - keep the rest of the team, and himself, alive. While the targets were less than intimidating, it paid off to treat it like the real thing in as many ways as possible.

Knowing his team was behind him, and given the go ahead from Guts, Crow moved forward into the next room, clearing the door as fast as possible. The room ahead was a long stretch of hallway to the left of the entryway, two doors on either side of the room; the back left and close right doors were open. "Hallway, open doors," Crow warned the rest of his team as they filed in behind him. He halted near the entryway on the left side of the hallway, expecting his squad to check the doors as needed, until the whir of movement ahead alerted Crow. A suspect popped out of the far left door, to which Crow reflexively braced. He acquired the target immediately, shouting, "Gun! Drop it!" Crow kept his pistol hand behind his shield protectively. He waited for one of his teammates to handle the suspect across the hall expectedly.

A set of shots zipped past the pointman's shield from the rear of the stack, sending the target to the floor.
"Gotta be quicker than that number two, you just got shot in the face. Violence of action." The team lead expressed, leaning back into position with his muzzle pointed towards the bathroom across the way, complete with a fake toilet and a mocked-up shower with a closed curtain.
"Entry team to TOC, suspect killed."

"
Crow, hold what you got. Bok, Gem, left side." Guts ordered half of his unit. "Blue, fall in. Take the right, assume we've got trailers watching the rear."

As blue team flowed in, Actual gave Gem a pat on the shoulder and took up watch on the far right door.
"Two doors each. Advance together. Go."

Jason "Sock" Ramirez // BLUE-TWO

First room cleared.

For every good call a feeling of relief washed over him. Even if it was only the kill house. Ramirez continued to hold the rear security -- his intent focusing as motivation surged through him. Even if he was only watching the rear.

It was getting a little too comfortable in the back for Ramirez's liking. Greener than most here, he could fuck up here and look like a complete dumbass. Or he could fuck up out in the field and lose his life, his friends or an innocent caught in the crossfire. Better to fuck up here than anywhere else.

Sock would dutifully continue to maintain rear security until Guts called for Blue to join the rest of the stack, as an imaginary element took up the task of guarding the rear. As he fell in, Sock peered partially into the the door to his right. "Let's go Giggles. Small bathroom 3 o clock. I'll take point." And then he'd move to hug the right wall. For a brief moment, Sock's muzzle moved to plug the door to the left that Red and Sierra were on.

His hand moved to the door and quietly, he opened it slightly before drawing his hand back. The door creaks ever so slightly open and then it would swing open quickly. Sock would briefly pine the small bathroom before moving into the small space.

A brief sound of metal on metal, as the curtain to the bathtub opened with barrel pointed into whatever may lay within. And if there was nothing -- Sock would call it clear. If not then, he'd just have to see.

Sock's muzzle was immediately met with the opposing barrel of a suspect lying in wait for an unsuspecting officer, a certain death sentence had he not checked the shower. An obvious hiding spot to be sure, but a stiff reminder that suspects can and will ambush whenever given a chance. Guts would frequently reminisce to the team about when he found a suspect hiding in a dryer with two pounds of meth in his shirt - "I guess he wanted to go for a spin!"

Jason "Sock" Ramirez // BLUE-TWO

The brief burst of a gunshots echoed through the tiny room.

"Contact neutralized." Followed immediately after.

Sock had taken a lean and pulled the trigger simultaneously -- firing into the man without so much as a warning. His shoulder pressed into the wall, and before his smoking barrel was a target made into a cardboard version of swiss cheese. A tight room like this with a gun in his face, it was as simple as "I see a weapon, you die" in Sock's eyes.

"Room Clear." He said, getting off the wall as he left.

As Sock entered the hallway victorious, he hugged the wall once more and leveled his muzzle to the end of this hallway towards the unknown hall to the left. He didn't move far enough to obstruct Gut's aim to the door to the right and instead remained in place -- waiting for Crow, Bok and Gem to move up. Or at least until prompted otherwise.

The door on his right sat in his mind, but now didn't seem the time. After all, it was a team effort.

Simultaneously to Blue team's entry, Gem swings her door open and Guts takes point on entry, finding a small, empty closet.
"Small room clear! Two blackbirds coming out!" She announces as two shots ring out across the hall, returning to the stack and giving Crow a pat on the back.
"Contact neutralized."

"Entry team to TOC, one suspect eliminated." Guts reports, moving up with the rest of the unit to the end of the hallway.
"Element, move and clear your sectors." He ordered, standing in the back. "Last rooms, don't trip at the finish line."

Past the downed target on the left was an L-shaped room that Crow couldn't quite see all the way into, nor could he see around the bend. Blue could see just past the pointman to the left, finding nothing immediately in the room. On their side, the right door remained closed.

>>>Location: Killhouse

Giggles stood behind Sock, with her back on the wall. She had followed through and stuck on his six for as long as they've been in the killhouse. She kept her MP5 in a low-ready, and looked towards the door that the Red team were going to go through. Giggles reached around once more and took hold of a blue light stick, which she cracked against her armor and dropped onto the floor by her boots.

The light 'clink' of hollow plastic against the ground made a bit of a sound, sure, but it was probably enough to get Sock's attention. She curled an index finger inward then pointed at herself, just to point towards the door that was on their side. There were enough eyes watching the left door, so it only made sense for Giggles to watch the other one. She shifted in place and then some, tapping at Sock's shoulder, then gesturing to her MP5 and the door once more. She indicated that she needed a little bit of room to work that sub-gun towards the door, as a just-in-case 'fuck around and find out' safety measure.

"Sock, if that door opens, they're as good as dead. I'll keep watch over it, or you can wedge the sucker if it opens towards this side. I can cover you." she communicated in a hushed whisper. Smooth. Suave. No rush to her ideas, she was clearly confident about the plan.

Trust the process.
That's what her FTO used to say.

"No time for wedges when we've got hostages, we've already been in this hallway too long." Guts asserted in response to Giggles' suggestion, after all of fifteen seconds had passed in the hall. "When we lose the element of surprise, we need to jack up our speed and violence of action to eleven, we're already dynamic. Blue, breach and clear right. Red, bang and clear left." He ordered, keeping his muzzle at high-ready behind Gem.

Crow provided cover from the far end while Gem and Guts cleared the room off to the left. It was uneventful for him, no more targets sprung out in his direction. All he had to do was wait for them to finish up before they could continue clearing the rest of the killhouse. When Guts mentioned there was no time for wedges, Crow just gave a silent nod. He always preferred keeping things moving when possible.

Upon receiving his pat on the back, Crow readied up on the next door once again with Sierra and Actual stacked up behind him. Guts cleared them to breach, and soon enough, a flashbang was tossed around Crow into the room. He instinctively squinted and awaited the deafening blast and flash of light that inevitably stunned the adjacent room before moving in, smooth and steady. Just like all the times before, Fletcher, his internal dialog droned.

"Right!" He called, clearing the doorway and checking the long distance of the room while using his shield to protect his team moving in right behind him. Crow halted at the corner of the L-shaped room, using the wall and his shield to hold the angle and call back what he saw to those behind him. His pistol was wrapped around the shield once again, just in case an immediate threat was present. If anyone sprung up more than a few yards ahead of him, he'd simply hope his team would open fire over him.

POP!
The three assaulters flood in behind the flashbang, using the device to its fullest in order to gain domination over the room. Only until the pointman stops at the outward corner does their flow come to a halt as he checks around it, coming face-to-face with a notorious police threat: Next to a many-times shot and torn-up bed stood a hostage dummy, and directly behind it, a paper target with a gun to the dummy's head, not ten feet from the stack. Plastered on the wall behind it rather cheekily was a paper text bubble announcing "Back up! I'll kill her!"

Neither Guts nor Crow's angle was ideal to get a shot off on the target, who presented only the left half of his face and his left hand holding the gun. Gem's position was not any more opportune, with a slightly better angle from the hostage but more obstacles in the way of the shot by way of furniture.

In this moment, a single stray shot from either of them could be catastrophic, the fear of which could possibly lead one to consider the suspect's demands.

Jason "Sock" Ramirez // BLUE-TWO

Sock's barrel for a brief time had remained locked on the open door across from him. Per giggle's prompting he crouched on one knee so that she could safely shoot above him should someone come barreling out the door -- allowing her to see the entire front of the hallway, without having to worry about muzzling him.

"Let clear the door when red moves up. No need for a wedge." He replied in an equally hushed tone. In a small building like this, there was little need to leave any room unchecked, in Sock's eyes. He envisioned the killhouse as a small building -- like going through a house or a shop. These were things he did not explain in the moment. Communication had to be clear, concise and brief. There was often little time for full-fledged conversation.

He heard Guts chime in -- adding that speed was imperative. The longer they were here, the more time the enemy had to prepare and get into better positions. Not only this, but there were hostages here. And they could be in any room. Every second spent was another moment an innocent life was in danger.

The rest of the stack moved up, coming into his peripherals towards his left and onto their door. With that -- Sock quickly stood up and moved the rest of the way to the door. Crow was across from him, his vision cutting into the open door he was once watching.

With that, the two were freed up to stack up on their door. He waited now to go in with Crow. He then spoke behind him.

"Giggles. Swing the door. I'll go first."

He'd move aside to let Giggles open the door for him ever so slightly. And once she did, he'd let the door breathe for a few moments until --

The door opened and Sock darted into the unknown, relying on his training and moving wherever it made sense to. His eyes cutting through the room, absorbing the most minute obstacles within into his psyche and moving as best as he can to get as clear a picture as he could. Hopefully with his teammate not too far behind him. The goings on of the opposing room were currently beyond him.

For now -- Sock laser focused onto what was happening in this room.

As the right door swung open, Sock encountered a small corner-fed room mocked up like a kid's bedroom, decorated with donated cartoon posters and various stuffed animals. To his three o'clock was a small desk, underneath it a child-sized hostage dummy. To his one o'clock sat a twin-sized bed with a pair of legs sticking out from under it.

Once Giggles made entry behind him, she encountered another door within the room to her one o'clock, presumably a closet or bathroom.

No immediate threats presented themselves within the room besides the unknown subject scurrying under the bed.

BZZZZZZZZT!
"Time!" Guts announces past the overhead buzzer, stopping Gold cold in their tracks not an instant before they took the final shots. He lowers his muzzle and flicks the safety on as he exits the mock bedroom.
"Collect your brass and regroup at the monitors."

While the unit retraces their steps picking up spent cartridges, Guts exits the killhouse to the nearby surveillance area protected behind two layers of brick. Waiting for him, he finds none other than the entirety of Silver element, plus a few patrol officers who had been watching the whole time.

"Hope you were taking notes, Prez, your boys could learn a thing or two."

"Oh yeah, heel-dragging 101 in there; What, d'jou stop in the kitchen for a snack? Not that you need any more snacks..." Silver's element leader teases in response, extending a hand to his lieutenant.

"I could have made a three-course-meal and still beat your time, tons-a-fun."

The two shake hands firmly and Guts gives a nod to the rest of his sister element before turning to address his team.

As Gold assembles by the set of eight monitors hooked up to the killhouse cameras, Guts rewinds the footage of their attempt.
"We all here? Alright. I saw a lot of good that run, and some not-so-good. Let's take a look." He taps the spacebar and crosses his arms as the group reviews the footage.

"Gold, bang and clear!"
"Drop it!" CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!
"Show me your hands!"
"Clear!" "Clear!"

At about the halfway point, Guts pauses the replay.
"Let's stop here for a minute."

"
Crow, you fixed your mistake from the last one, but in turn made another one. You have a shield, but you can't just stand in front of the doorway for the world's longest center check while you count heads. Your center check is a snapshot so you know you're not about to get your head taken off, not a scan of the whole room. That same corner guy could've killed you in that time. Everything else was great, just mind your speed."

"Yeah, or you'll get sent to Platinum element." Prez remarks, much to the amusement of the peanut gallery.

"Alright, alright." Guts calmed them with a wave towards the floor.

"Sock, thank you for not killing Little Bobby in the window, good trigger discipline. Remember, guys, we want to imagine that every bullet has a lawyer's phone number written on it. Nice work with the civ's in the first room."

"Unfortunately, that's about where the good news ends." Guts
continues the replay for another few seconds, then pauses.

"Now, this wasn't your fault, Crow, but if the man behind you isn't doing his job, you gotta pick up the slack. You could've taken that suspect at the end of the hall. That said, Gem*, I know you're typically not part of the entry team, but try not to get tunnel vision on closed doors. If we've been decisively engaged, we need to end that engagement as quickly as possible. We can be generous and pretend that the suspect's shots hit the shield for the sake of training, but we can't depend on that in practice - and that's what this is all about." The team leader expressed with no particular disappointment.

"After that, it feels like our momentum just went down the drain. We were in that hallway for thirty full seconds, we should've been out of there in fifteen. Blue found the suspect in the shower, which is fine and dandy, but the remaining suspects had time to take human shields and hide. We can't be discussing what or what not to do in the middle of the shit, Giggles, sometimes we've just gotta pick something and stick to it. These are things we need figured out beforehand, otherwise this ends up happening."

"But that's about it, everything else was solid. Good shooting, good communication, much better than the last one. We really just need to focus on pace, I'd rather us miss a couple little things than one big one." Guts
concluded as he let the rest of the footage play out. "Anything to add, Prez?"

"Nothing from me, Boss. Good show in there."

"Go get 'em, tiger." Guts pats Prez on the shoulder and takes a seat by the monitors as the sergeant guides Silver to take a crack at the killhouse.

"Thoughts?" He asks his team, still gathered around. "What'd we do well, what'd we do poorly?"

*(With Bok gone I'm implying that Gem was the slackman in this exercise.)

Once the buzzer sounded, Crow's shoulders slumped as he lowered the weighty shield. The metal clanked against the floor as he gave his arm a momentary break. He switched the safety on his pistol and holstered the weapon before proceeding to clear the shells around the killhouse. Once the menial work was done and Gold exited the Killhouse, they directly encountered Silver element. Allen smirked at the back-and-forth with Prez, taking advantage of the moment to open a dialog with the other Silvers. "You see the standoff at the end?" He opened, nudging Officer Wright from Silver Element.

The mountainous blond responded with a nudge of his own. "Yeah, complete with a cliffhanger ending. You better actually get the bad guy next time," Wright responded while shifting his feet. Crow knew Wright well; he was no doubt anxious to get into the pit himself and test the gauntlet again. Crow couldn't blame him.

Fletcher opened his mouth to speak again, but quickly hushed himself upon seeing Guts ready with their brief of their Killhouse adventures. Fletcher listened closely to Actual and heeded his notes carefully. Don't stop, got it. Snapshot, check. Take action when team can't follow-up, yes. Crow memorized the criticisms and absorbed their meanings. The next go would be faultless. He would be better and better until he was perfect, and he'd continue training from there.

When Guts asked the team to speak up, Crow was first. "The bad; violence of action. Stagnation'll get us killed. We'll keep from dragging our feet in the future." Crow spoke on behalf of the rest of Gold. "As for the good, I think Gold did exceptional specifically with communication. No weapon was missed, no contact went unreported. I knew the situation where I couldn't see solely on the thoroughness of our callouts. Orders were clear. Gem played her atypical role well. Sock and Giggles were textbook on their own after the hallway split. Points of domination were upheld thoroughly." Crow listed one thing after the next with barely a pause, like the words were already meditated before the questions were asked.

Jason "Sock" Ramirez // BLUE-TWO

BZZZZZZZT!!!

"Fuck."
Sock muttered. An unpleasant sensation rang. Tense shoulders dropped and his gun's barrel lowered to the ground as he soon looked in the direction of Gut's voice. A faint click of his safety was heard as soon he let go of his rifle -- allowing it to hang by the strap for a moment as he listens. On one hand, he was unsure about his performance. Ultimately they weren't quick enough to secure this area. On the other hand, he glad it was over. And the decisions he did get to make weren't ones he regretted.

Curiously, Sock opened the closet to take a look inside and peaked under the bed at the little tykes within. But he left everything as it was. In truth, scenarios like this were why Sock was so famous for using his hands when he was out on patrols. Getting shot sucked. But to shoot any innocent, let alone a child, put the fear of god into him.

Then he would go and retrace his steps, using both hands to gather up spent shells sitting on the ground. Revisiting the bathroom in particular where he was met with a muzzle. Though given the chance, he'd hand the others any spare shells he picked up -- before heading out the room.

The mood lightened soon as he found himself pulled out of his own head and caught up in the banter.

"Looks like you took a while, Sock. Hope you didn't spend too much time on the ground, wrestling with cardboard." Said his old friend, Cross.

Sock shrugs. "Yeah yeah. Just try to not trip over your own two feet in there, eh Cross?" With a chuckle, he waves a hand dismissively at the man with a smirk more indicative of the Sock he knew in the academy.

With that, he went to go join the rest of his squad. And went to carefully review. And his smile slipped into something a bit more neutral as he observed the footage set before him.

In an affront to his own expectations, it seemed Sock had done a decent job in there. Fully prepared to fuck up and eat any number of verbal lashings. But he was indeed glad to know he didn't have. Each bullet had a lawyers phone number on it. And if he fucked up, it wouldn't be just him and the department that would eat it. Instead, critiques went out to Crow and Giggles.

"Good on the call to watch the window though, Giggles." He said. Admittedly, it was something he might have missed.

"Fickle line between doing it quickly and instinctively. And then doing it right. Cheesy as it sounds to say, you don't rise to the occasion. You fall to your level of training. Just have to make our best our default. We" He said, motioning to himself and Giggles with a twist of his thumb. "Can do better." He said, shouldering some of the burden. After all, this was a team effort. He wondered if maybe he was being a bit overdramatic, but he was used to being given shit for it. Worst that would happen was getting a little bit of shit here.

"After a while, less and less mistakes though. Not the fastest but the last run went smoothly. And a lot of our mistakes seemed to come from loss of momentum and lack of speed. But I think we're on a good trajectory, compared to our last runs." The last thing he wanted was to see people repeating mistakes. But there wasn't any of that so far.

The key in Sock's mind, was to keep improving. And he could be happy with getting a little better every time.
