Realistic or Modern Kings, Lords, & Peasants

Prim & Proper

The Turnip Knight
The RP I am proposing will be set on the continent of Imia, on the island of Idrun (at least, that's where it'll start.) The players will each start off as somewhere between the peasantry and the middle class (anywhere from a serf-peasant turnip farmer to a journeyman smith or something along those lines.)

The political, economical, and social landscape will be set upon that of Europe in the early to mid 1400's. Naturally, women will have a much harder time than men, those born a peasant are by far more likely to stay a peasant, you know the drill.

There will be many countries, there will be many crusades, there'll be a whole lot of politics, and a fair share of courtly love as well. (If you don't know what courtly love is, look it up - however, all in the RP will be in and with regard to the RPN rules, so don't worry.)

You, of course, will have little to all say in how the politics and wars go down, depending upon how successful your character is. There is an infinite number of things to do, really, be it travel from country to country, become a page, and then squire, and then knight, open up a farm, start a revolution, sit around twiddling your thumbs, it's all there!

If this gets enough support, I will form it into a full RP. People who could help me start writing would be very helpful, and much obliged.

DO NOTE! This RP will not be about any one particular conflict or war, but rather it'll essentially be following a continent (or more-so, the characters in said continent) throughout many conflicts and many events. So, yeah, join if you want!

Well, I'm afraid I know next to nothing about Indian history, so I don't think I'll be able to do much in this case. But I would still like to lurk if this gets started, and may hop in if ever the story gets into an area I'm a bit more familiar with.

That didn't say India, my bad... I has the dumb... Yeah, I think I could probably go for something like this if it gets started, depending on how it goes. It sounds fun!

If I might make a suggestion, you might want to have some sort of overarching story for characters in take part in. They might not all interact with it directly, but it provides a bit more structure than just giving everyone free-roam. Free-roam games are fun to play by yourself, but in my experience, they tend to be messy. You end up with five different groups scattered all over the place doing their own thing and not interacting with each other. Then, when a few people leave, everyone is stranded on opposite parts of the land with no logical reason to get back to each other. Having something in common for all the characters to engage with in some way can help to control that, while still giving them the freedom to decide what they want to do within it.

Seems awfully cool. Since no one as volunteered to be a clergymen and those were quite important I think that will be my forte. Lets be honest, I would have taken up the collar in another life anyways.

This is like me treading through unknown territory >.> But, I do want to express my interest! Me wants to try this~!

Uhmm... Hmm... Okay, so depending on the plot and what sort of other characters show up, I'm thinking of either a leader/member of a rebellion or defending force (depending on who you ask) or perhaps a reluctant trainee of sorts under Shire's clergyman, if that's okay.

I guess I could be a general of the emperor's army? Perhaps the Clergyman ordered a crusade and now we have to defend against what we have Conquered? Or perhaps we're the ones fighting in such a crusade as the attackers?

Maybe... I was leaning more towards the trainee, maybe one that doesn't have any interest in the clerical life and has to be taught before he can accept it. Probably a younger son of minor nobility, but all the land and wealth went to his older brothers and there's not much left for him to do but join a monastery. Of course, he isn't called to it and the life and vows are very unappealing to him, but he values his honor and won't take them unless he intends to keep them. So, he's maybe sent to the monastery to train and learn what's expected of him before he makes a lifetime oath. Perhaps, as he trains, he grows to actually believe in the work he's doing and may choose to stay voluntarily.

Sure, that would sound interesting but what would happen to all the other characters around him? While the boy is training would their be a certain tension with other kingdoms? Raiders etc.?

The plot seems interesting so far though.
