Fantasy Kingdom's Vow (Opening)

Jessica blushed slightly as she heard Eden got her a welcome gift. "Y-You didn't have too" She looked down at the hat. She placed it on her head as her soft gentle curls was pushed down slightly. "I love it!" She clapped her hands with happiness and turned around and jumped back on the ground. She went over to her glass doors to look at her reflection. "It fits perfectly~" She twirled around and posed for a few seconds to see what the hat looked on her in different angles. None were bad so far. "Well, now that I have a bodyguard, let's go out and roam the kingdom. I should probably change my clothing into something people wouldn't expect me to wear so they wouldn't know it's me." She looked at Eden. "Wait here one second!" She closed the doors behind her and covered the door with curtains. She pulled out orange shorts and a yellow blouse she hand made. Jessica likes to create clothes that aren't really dressy. It's not that she doesn't like the clothes her personal designer creates her, it's just that it feels like it's missing something.

She checked herself out in the mirror. The clothes matched the hat perfectly. She tied her hair into a loose ponytail and put on silky white over the knee socks. Jessica opened the doors opened again.
"Come on, let's go before we get caught." She grabbed Eden's wrist with both her hands like she did before and hurried out the door. She poked her head out the door, checking both the left and right to see if there was no one there. "The coast is clear~!" She whispered to Eden. She closed her door behind her and started tiptoeing down the hall.

Jackson grumbled under his breath, his features contorting to an ugly frown before he resumed his usual collected self. He hated the sunlight, hated the way it pierced through his dark clothes, singing his skin. He used his hand to shade his narrowed eyes from the rays the sun beat down upon Theiya, as he made his way towards the town square, where the public execution was about to take place.

Skillfully, he dodged the vendors and traders calling out their wares, the brothel girls lying underneath the cloth canopies, the women with bags full of the month's rations. The steady pulse of clanging metal coming from the blacksmith's shops, mixed with the early afternoon chatter of women and the playfull calls of children snaking their ways through mingling bodies all sounded so familiar to his ears. Sounded so much like...home. His cheeks burned as he held in the urge to grin from ear to ear. It had been so long since he was last amidst the busy chatter of the familiar cobblestone streets of the town. He'd missed everything, from the overbearing crowds to the smell of freshly hacked meat and stale grain mixed with dung in the air. Pangs of nostalgia hit him, each on harder than the last. Staying away from home for so long did that to you.

The last spy mission had lasted months, the longest one Jackson could recount in a long time. The discovery of the Atherton spy in Theiya had meant tighter security in Atherton, the guards hungrier than ever to find something to use against Theiya.

They had underestimated his capabilities.

It felt good to walk under the sun again, he had to admit it, rather than keep in the shadows, out amongst his own people, somewhere he belonged. It would feel even better to watch the spy look at Jackson, and wish they could swap places just for this second. After all, who could be better at spotting spies than a spy himself?

His head ached with excitement. He had so many things to reveal to the king, so many stories to recount. He felt like he was going to burst. Instead, he bit his lip, quickened his pace, and made his way over to the execution as fast he could.

"Woa! woa! woa!" Eden exclaimed, pulling her back into her room. "I dunno about this, we should ask your parents!" Eden was really worried about her getting hurt on his watch. She was his responsibility now, he had to be extremely careful. They were in dangerous times and the Princess of Atherton was someone that could be wanted by a lot of awful people...for a lot of awful purposes. "Its a dangerous world out there Miss Ressendolf..."

Before Jessica could go out and even leave the halls, Eden pulled her back into her room. "Aweeee Come on Edennnnn~!" She pouted slightly. "My parents are gonna say no and then I just have to sit in my room all day in this bright sunnn! I wanna know what it's like to go outside again! Do you know how boring it is to stay inside! Who knows? I may stay here for the rest of my lifeee!" The temptation to just stomp was real but she didn't want to look like a brat. Instead, she just tugged on Eden's shirt sleeve. "Pleaseeee~?" She blinked as her eyes sparkled with the sun's glare. Don't blind me sun... I swear to godddd... "And no need to call me Miss Ressendolf. Just call me Jessica~"

Cobalt's hands clenched into fists as he listened to his dad's words of distaste. "They don't hate me!" He shouted, gulping as he knew that his father was correct. "Either way, I don't care if they hate or love me. I'm fine the way I am. I don't have to be a killer like yourself to be able to control a kingdom." He pointed out, words sharp. He had to regain his composure, but he knew that he was far too angry to even complete a sentence without raising his voice. "Do as you please, you are the king after all. The greatest king I've ever laid my eyes on in fact." Cobalt drawled, words dripping with sarcasm.

As soon as his father and knight left he ran back up to the study room on the top floor, taking his place in the overly large seat, elbow resting on one arm. He always watched these things, though he never really participated. Only the one time where it was taking to long, there's not much you can get from a spy that refused to speak. Legs crossed he watched with uninterested eyes as people gathered around the square. Many shoppe owners coming out of their shoppes and replacing the spaces that children and families left. He already had a plan, if the execution dragged on any longer than five minutes he's taking his sword and going outside to finish it himself. Though he doubted that would happen.

Ayame walked into the castle. She wandered around the halls, whistling, until she heard Princess Jessica speaking of going out. She stopped, listening on, then knocked on the door.

Everest listened well as the prince and the king continue to argue. She felt a bit uncomfortable being next to the two lords hearing that the argument was about personal family manners. When the king decided to get going Everest relaxed then stiffened when the king placed a hand on her shoulder. "Yes m'lord. It would be quite a shame if you were to be late." She said and began to walk beside the king searching the area for any signs of threat. 'I know I should not be thinking this, but the prince can be quite a brat.' She thought to herself. @Jacob Berry

Eden sighed. As worried as he was he felt bad for the girl. Who knows when the last time she went outside had been. He tried to keep strong but he gave in. "Alright, Alright. But if we go out its on my terms! You follow me, you do everything I say, and by no circumstance will you reveal that you are the princess!" Eden said in a whispering shout. "And we are only going out for a little bit, and to a safe spot..."

Eden Jerked his head to the door and turned to her. "Stay quiet..." He slowly opened the door and was relieved to see Ayame there and not the King of Atherton. "Oh, its you..." He sighed in relief.

Richard waved a hand dismissively at Cobalt as he walked off, rounding a corner, hearing his words, "He isn't wrong, that boy. He may be a brat, but he is a Valentine, soon enough he will become one." He continued to walk at a brisk pace, one that would be surprising for a man of his age. A small grin found its way on his face as he navigated the Castle halls to the dot. Once he and Everest were out of the massive castle he took a deep breath, "Everest correct, tell me about yourself as we make our way to the execution." He began to walk once more, a hop of excitement in his step as they made their way to the execution.

Anexius was in a sour mood and it was because of the spy that they had found in the kingdom. However, it was not for the sole reason that there was a spy in the kingdom that upset him but rather the execution of the person. He was always perceptive of people and so he didn't need the king to verbally tell him anything that would give him off as a ruthless person to know.

He hoped for an audience with the king. He had meant to ask a boon of the King to grant the low slums of the Kingdom a job in the castle when he stumbled across an interesting discussion between the Prince Cobalt and his father. He stopped where he was walking and kept quiet, eavesdropping.

He knew the the prince and King got along as well as oil and water and it was apparent in the way they interacted with each other. As the conversation progressed, their words only got thicker and thicker with malice, to the point where he actually flinched from the amount of venom. Knowing the king had an execution to attend to, and because he did not want to get caught eavesdropping, he silently backed away when it seemed the conversation slowly began to die off.

He would visit the prince Cobalt in his own time later... Now however, he wanted to gather his thoughts.

Eden nodded, she was right. But he just did not have the heart to say no to the girl. Having Ayame there would make things so much safer. She was the strongest, most loyal person he knew. He was surprised at her offer. "...you would really do that for me?" Eden asked tilting his head to the side. "Thank you, Ayame..."

Everest took a glance at the king and then went back to looking around. 'If the king has faith in the young Valentine then I should as well.' She thought but the thought that she may have to walk beside the prince now king made her want to shiver a bit. Everest was so deep in thought she hadn't realized that she and the king were now outside.

She was already hot in the castle, now she was really burning up. Everest ignored how hot she was and focused on the king's question that caught her by surprise.
"Well your highness, there is not much to know..." She said. "But you asked so I believe I can share the little information about myself. I'm a soon to be adult age girl who was born and raise here in the great Theiya! My father was a blacksmith and I had a twin brother who sadly betrayed this country so I had to kill him. After that incident I ran off from home and found a nice little hide away. There I learned basic training of how to become a knight and when I was brave enough I decided to try out to join the band of knights. As you can see I passed." She said. "I hope that information sufficed your curiosity." @Jacob Berry

Jessica looked at both of them as they were conversing. She quietly slid away secretly as she already started to dart through the halls without getting noticed. "Last one out is the rotten egg!" Jessica giggled as she finally felt free. She skipped instead of running as it made her save energy and honestly made her faster. She looked both left and right to look if the coast was clear once again. "Clear!" She continued skipping as she finally made it in front of the door. She placed her hands on her hips as if she finally accomplished something.

"Yeaaaa!"

Ayame ran after her. "Princess Jessica!" She called out until she made her way to her. "You mustn't run off like that!" Ayame exclamied. "If the king were to hear you.." she muttered, too afraid to finish the sentence.

Richard glanced at the female knight a few times and rubbed his chin, "I see. Though, at such an age, when events are just happening in your life, I didn't expect a grand story. Still, thank you for sharing your story with me. I would tell you my past, but it is quite a story." He offered a smile as he continued to walk, for a king he easily maneuvered throughout the crowds. Perhaps that was because most of the people recognized him and moved out of his way.

The two arrived at the city square, where almost all of the public executions take place. Though, he did not go and find a seat or stand with the peasants. Instead he went over to the executioner, the guards, clad in black, all straightened as they saw the king approach, "Executioner, find me a sword. Sharper than a scoundrel's tongue and with more bite than the Prince." He let out a chuckle as the executioner offered a nod and walked off, finding just the sword Richard would want, "Ah, thank you my good man." He took a deep breath, smelling the smoke from the smithies, the food from the vendors, the blood and piss from the taverns. He motioned for Everest to continue following as he stepped onto the stage, the spy tied to a stake in the middle.

Everest couldn't help but let a small smile escape her lips. She had to admit, it was nice to tell her story and she was quite happy that the king was pleased that she shared it. Everest glanced over at the king for a quick second before looking back in front of her at the many crowds of people forming a path for the king.

Once they arrived Everest stopped at the stages stairs knowing her place and was going to make her way into the crowd until the king motioned her to join him on the stage. Everest felt so honored that she fast walked all the way up the stage stairs and took her place with the other guards. She saw her Commander in the line of guards, he gave her a quick glance and then looked away. Everest stopped herself from smiling for she was very excited to be able to stand on the stage for all to see. @Jacob Berry

Cobalt watched as his father walked onstage, a sizable sword in hand. The knight stood just feet away, awaiting an invitation to follow. Cobalt watched with uninterested eyes, sinking further in the cushions. He could hear the hushed chatter about the argument that just broke out between himself and Richard less than three minutes ago. He was used to the talk about them, everybody knew that they rarely ever got along, though it seemed that it always came as a surprise when they fought. He felt as though that the conversation was unfinished, but that might just be because he heard his fathers laughter as he was walking away. If there's anything that he hated more than being insulted it was being laughed at.

He snapped out of his thoughts as soon as he heard the small clink of the tip of the sword hitting the wooden platform. He let out a long sigh through his nose as he watched Richard just stand there, staring at the victim. "Get on with it already." He mumbled, watching the scene intently. He placed the edge of a small ribbon into his mouth, chewing on the scratchy fabric. It was a bad habit that developed ever since his bow was tied, he just couldn't stop. "Dad, stop staring." He growled, rolling his eye as the female knight eagerly traveled on stage. "Your about to watch murder, what's so good about that?" He asked himself, voice barely above a whisper.

Richard took slow, well placed steps while on the stage, his steps were loud and heavy though. The crowd was excited, rearing to see the spy killed. He stopped just steps before the spy, looking over at the crowd, "People of Theiya! Today, we see this man, a Spy of Atherton, executed! He has unlawfully enter MY Kingdom, and as you know this is the second spy this month! These mice of Atherton will continue to show up, but we will continue to catch them, and to kill them!" His speech was short, mainly to get the crowd ready and excited for the execution. He raised the sword high, gripping it perfectly before swinging it down, stopping just inches above the spy's neck. Turning on his heel, he offered Everest a smile, "You, my dear knight, shall have the honor of killing this piece of filth." Untightening his leather grip on the sword's hilt he offered it to the female.

Eden took off after the girl, swiftly catching up to her in seconds, he tackled her gently into a stack of hay, making sure he took the brunt of the fall. He got up and brushed her and himself off. "Are you crazy?! Did you not hear anything I just said? Stay close to me if you want to go out!" He looked down at her and readjusted her hat. "Sorry, Im just.... really really worried. Stay close to us, please don't do that again." He spoke softly, in an apologetic but extremely serious tone.
