Vol. 1: Fractured Earth
The mystical and ancient land of Jianki, residing in the far side of the world, once united must now divide. Having prospered under the watch of Seo Ri the First Emperor, Jianki must now suffer the incompetency of his successors. Great heroes and brilliant minds that once accompanied the First Emperor are now nothing but a name upon the silver monuments, while the values of their deeds faded into oblivion. Their tombs left untended, while the Empire continued to fall further into the darkness. Their children, indulging themselves with petty rivalry and drunken politics, have led the Empire astray. Following a large-scale uprising in 138 AC, the Seo Empire is further weakened by incompetent governance and economic instability. Born into this tumultuous era, many young men and women would seek out their own destinies - defying the Empire’s long-lost Mandate of the Heavens.
The year is 150 AC and Jianki is thrown into an age of chaos and opportunities. To the north, the vengeful conqueror Seo Ji emerges from the cinders of change, poised on setting ablaze the old empire and forging their path to victory via conquest. To the south, the young governor Dao Chaolong succeeded his father's place. While he is beloved by the people of Weilang akin to that of his father before him, new enemies arise - threatening the young lord's governance. In this tumultuous age of everchanging fates, many rallied to his cause. Some were fueled by ambitions to have their name imprinted upon the pages of history, others driven by their personal principles to see the world set right. From divine scholars that command the hearts of the people to faithful generals who tame the land with their might, these personnel, diverse in their origins and crafts, would be instrumental in the creation of a new world. With Jianki's fate upon their shoulders, the Dominion of Dao must abide by the laws of nature and ride upon the winds of change. Heaven and earth, governed by one perennial rule - all that begins must end. The Seo Dynasty has lost their Celestial Mandate. It is time for a new master to unite the realm.

Jianki is in turmoil. The three-hundred years old Seo dynasty is being devoured by corruption and decadence. Threatened by her subordinates' ambitions, and defiled by the tyranny of her own blood. Rebellion spreads like a wildfire, eating away at the chains that bound the Seo Empire to their subjects. While her loyal generals rallied to the banner of their Emperor, others sought to forge their own paths and perhaps seize their own destinies. Following the death of Emperor Seo Lang, his children squabble among themselves. On the day of his burial, Lang's fifth daughter, Seo Ji, returned to Taiyang after many years being stationed on the frontier against the Ori Horde to the north.
After a series of events that unraveled the incurable schemes of her own blood, Seo Ji gathered an army and marched on the capital of Taiyang, under the guise of offering aid to the imperial city. With a seasoned army at her side and the imperial city on lockdown, Seo Ji had most of her siblings arrested for alleged corruption, sparing only her youngest sister Seo Meng. Seo Meng, held against their will, was eventually manipulated by Seo Ji to effectively hand actionable powers over to the latter. Having secured her position as the new prime minister, Seo Ji purged most of the imperial court, executing those whom she deemed corrupt and treasonous to the Empire, including her other siblings. The Sanguine Tyrant would earn her moniker via the relentless might of their resolute heart. Many of the Empire's vassals eventually broke away and declared independence, wary of the Sanguine Tyrant's ambitions. Warlords rose, taking advantage of the situation to further their own agendas, while others sought to depose Seo Ji and restore Seo's true mandate. Chaos consumes the land, Jianki's children suffer, while lords and bandits defiling the soils they trod.
To the south, a young blossom blooms amidst the embers of chaos and corruption. Dao Yanjin, the beloved Lord of Weilang, was murdered by his envious brother Dao Ren. Yanjin's son, Dao Chaolong, would soon be ousted by his uncle. Upon his exile, the young Chaolong would change the course of Jianki's future when he rescued a young scholar from the Crimson River. The stout blossom, a mere instrument of Fate, would be the sacred icon of heaven's will.

[kGs] Book of Dao is a faction-building fantasy RP that strives to explore the themes of war, politics, and kingdom-building aspects set during the turbulent White Plumes Period of Jianki's history. In Book of Dao, most will likely be expected to take on the role of a member of the court of the Dominion of Dao, supporting Dao Chaolong (played by Malphaestus) in their quest to bring peace back to the divided realm of Jianki. However, you may opt to play a smaller role within the dominion (such as a guard, household cook, servant, etc.). As the story progresses, some roles will be revised to correspond with the court's growing imperium and level of influence. Certain roles will demand greater responsibilities than others as the dominion grows, so I advise you to pick one that you are most comfortable running with. The story will span across ten volumes, with room for minor arcs in between, so brace yourselves for a long haul with this RP. The lore only covers the outline of the world's setting, leaving you guys some room to paint the world as the story progresses.
